A GREENER GERMANY

Germany is one of the most ecologically sound nations in the world. Its ability to maintain carbon neutrality and reduce its footprint in a world economy is second to none.

We recently had an opportunity to visit that environmentally conscious country. In ten days, we traveled to four different cities to see how committed they were to this green initiative.

BERLIN

Berlin is the capital of Germany situated 55 miles west of Poland and about 112 miles south of the Baltic Sea. This design destination embraces 3.7 million people and is within easy reach to Spree River Valley.

Since July 2007, Berlin Fashion Week takes place twice a year, once in January and July. Since its conception, it has grown into a magnet for emerging designers from around the world. Esther Perbandt alias the ‘Queen of Black’ is a stylized illustration. As the candidate of the first season of “Making the Cut” by Amazon Prime, she pierced the hearts of millions of viewers with her insatiable desire for design.

During an interview with 360 MAGAZINE, she further confessed her love for fashion and pledged to become more sustainable through the continued use of local manufacturers, eliminating unnecessary travel. In the same vein, Berlin makes every effort to minimize its environmental impact by setting high ecological standards. As a progressive smart city, where green trends often thrive, they focus on providing an abundance of public parks. In fact, the local municipalities have determined that outdoor recreation stations are essential to achieving a better way of life. Moreover, residents are more interested in public transportation and cycling than driving.

Wilmina Hotel, formerly a women’s prison, has been re-invented in a trendy hostel. Hoteliers used their interior design backgrounds to redefine what might have become an unsightly abandoned shipwreck. Instead, it has become one of the most stylish lodges with an indoor swimming pool, playrooms, dining area, and outdoor entertainment areas.

Berlin’s nightlife is second to none. With hidden gems that stay open from sunset to sunup.

Cancer article for 360 Magazine.

What electromagnetic wave helps treat cancer? PEMF or Something Like that?

Cancer disease is causing a lot of death casualties in humans. The medical sector is doing a lot to cure this disease but still no effective and proper cure in sight. Medical science is still trying and succeeding in finding new effective ways to help patients get rid of this painful disease. The treatments used to cure cancer disease are radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Radiation therapy uses particles of high energy, such as protons, electrons, gamma rays, and x-rays. These rays damage the cancer cells and replace them with new and healthy cells. In other cases, surgery proves to be effective in treating cancer. There are many events when a combination

of these treatments is also employed.

These treatments are not 100% effective. They are also not free from side effects. The other painful aspect of these treatments is that most patients do not tolerate them. Seeing the drawbacks of cancer treatments, scientists gather together to invent alternative ways to treat this disease. The outcome of this gathering resulted in the three main methods to treat cancer which include Pulsed Electric field (PEF), Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Field (PEMF), and Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP).

Most effective therapy:

PEMF therapy is the most powerful of the others. It offers many advantages: PEMF therapy can kill cancer cells selectively due to their electromagnetic sensitivity and specificity. PEMF therapy is a non-invasive treatment technique. This therapy is non-toxic and also safe to apply.

In this method, electromagnetic fields induce microcurrents in the body or to a specific tissue. The stimulation with a particular intensity and suitable duration induces a current across the targeted cell membranes. This impulse triggers nerve cells or muscles to propagate action potentials. There are two methods to apply PEMF treatment. It is considered a primary therapy, or we can employ it with other antineoplastic cures. Now PEMF devices are available in the market. With time, they are also budget-friendly in terms of price.

The prospect of PEMF therapy in oncology has further potential in the future due to the need for controlled clinical studies. As for as the physics of a PEMF device is concerned, a PEMF device consists of a current source. An ionized gas, called plasma, is produced due to high voltage. The plasma consists of electrons, ions, and neutral particles.

When CAP applies to cancer cells or tissues, physical factors such as electromagnetic fields and UV rays and chemical aspects such as Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) and Reactive Nitrogen Species (RNS) generates. CAP has more abundant forms of action when exposed to cancer cells, which can better avoid the drug resistance of cancer cells during treatment. The biological effects of time-varying PEMFs are a significant area of research. The primary focus of the examination is on using very low-frequency bands. The clinical applications use pulsed or sinusoidal magnetic fields below thousand Hz with magnetic induction strengths within hundred Gs. The advantage of the technique is that the pulsed magnetic field generally does not cause significant thermal effects in organisms due to the short duration of action and low irradiation power.

We can change the path of charged particles in an organism by changing the external electromagnetic field. The technique also affects the cell membrane potential. Such changes affect the function of membrane proteins, which can lead to changes in cell membrane permeability and membrane-specific ions. It finally affects the regulation of cellular operations. The magnetic field has a strong penetration ability in the organism. Therefore, PEMF therapy is a treatment for cancer patients.

Twenty Years of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood via 360 MAGAZINE.

Twenty years at Goodwood

The home of Rolls-Royce from 2003-2023.

Rolls-Royce’s unprecedented success comes as, in January 2023, the company marks the 20th anniversary of the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood. Its transformation – from offering a single model, Phantom, and building just one motor car a day – to today’s record figures is the result of a long-term strategy based on sustainable growth, careful management and planning, and the successful reinvention of the brand.

The past decade, in particular, has seen Rolls‑Royce consciously refine and rejuvenate its brand and product portfolio to reflect its clients’ changing requirements, tastes, and demographics while retaining its innate exclusivity and rarity. As both a true luxury house and an innovative, engineering-led company, Rolls‑Royce represents, as it always has, the very highest levels of craftsmanship, technology, luxury and creativity.

  • Rolls-Royce celebrates the first 20 years of production at its Goodwood manufacturing centre
  • A story of continuous progress and evolution, told through 20 individual models
  • Each created and handmade at the Home of Rolls-Royce since 2003
  • Includes EX experimental cars, which revived a naming convention last seen in the 1950s
  • Describes an arc of technical innovation and responses to changing client requirements
  • Leads to the new all-electric era ushered in by the Rolls-Royce Spectre

1.      Phantom, 2003
The original ‘Goodwood Phantom’ was the seventh generation to wear what is now the longest-established nameplate in automotive history. With its marriage of technology, comfort, performance, and the signature ‘Magic Carpet Ride’, it set a new standard for every model that has followed.

2.     100EX, 2004
Produced to mark the centenary of the first meeting between Charles Rolls and Henry Royce, this was the first Experimental Car produced by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars under BMW Group ownership. Powered by an extraordinary 9-litre V16 engine, it was never intended for production but was the direct forebear for what would become the celebrated Phantom Drophead Coupé.

3.      Phantom Extended, 2005
Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2005, Phantom Extended was 250 mm (9.8 in) longer than the ‘standard’ Phantom. This created additional legroom in the rear cabin, making this model especially popular with clients who prefer to be chauffeur-driven.

4.     101EX, 2006
Like 100EX, this experimental prototype was built on a shortened version of Phantom’s aluminium space frame, with the body panels constructed in carbon-fibre composite. It would find enduring life and global fame in its eventual production guise as Phantom Coupé, powered by the iconic 6.75-litre V12 engine.

5.      Phantom Drophead Coupé, 2007
One of the most sought-after models ever produced at Goodwood, the Phantom Drophead Coupé stunned the world on its debut. With distinctive styling derived from 100EX (see above), its defining feature is the interior wood veneering that flows around the cabin into the teak tonneau cover, inspired by a racing yacht deck.

6.     Phantom Coupé, 2008
With its pillarless construction, this was a true hardtop two-door coupé – the first Rolls-Royce of its type to be produced in more than two decades. Like its drophead sibling, Phantom Coupé incorporated many of the design features and construction techniques developed on the experimental 101EX.

7.      200EX, 2009
Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009, 200EX was the experimental car that responded to client feedback for a more approachable and driver-orientated Rolls-Royce.

8.     Ghost, 2010
Designed for a new generation of ascendent Rolls-Royce clients, Ghost immediately won praise for its simple, contemporary design and effortless, dynamic performance. To date it is the most commercially successful model in Rolls-Royce history.

9.      102EX, 2011
Known as the Phantom Experimental Electric (EE), this one-off electric prototype version of Phantom began Rolls-Royce’s exploration into suitable technology to power future generations of its motor cars.

10.     Ghost Extended, 2011
Responding to feedback from clients who prefer to be chauffeur-driven, Rolls-Royce introduced an extended version of Ghost, offering additional space and comfort for rear-seat passengers while maintaining the motor car’s more focused driving characteristics.

11.      Wraith, 2013
The fastback Wraith was intended as the ultimate gran turismo; a car that embodied the bold, pioneering spirit, sense of adventure and love of speed that inspired the marque’s co-founder, The Hon Charles Stewart Rolls.

12.     Dawn, 2016
The definitive super-luxury four-seater convertible, Dawn, was designed to enable four adults to travel sociably together in complete comfort. The roof is a design and engineering masterpiece: dubbed ‘the Silent Ballet’ the mechanism operates in complete silence in just 22 seconds, and at cruising speeds of up to 50km/h; with the roof closed, the interior is as silent as a Rolls-Royce Wraith.

13.      Black Badge Wraith and Black Badge Ghost, 2016
The Black Badge family introduced the world to the marque’s enfants terribles, subverting perceptions of what a Rolls-Royce ‘should’ be. These variants are more powerful and specifically engineered to deliver an even more direct, engaging driving experience, while still offering near-limitless opportunities for Bespoke personalisation. The result was an even more agile and involving motoring experience, without compromising the intrinsic elements of the effortless Rolls-Royce ‘Magic Carpet Ride’.

14.     103EX, 2016
Perhaps the most radical experimental car ever produced at Goodwood, Rolls-Royce Vision Next 100, codenamed 103EX, presented the marque’s uncompromised view of the future of luxury mobility. Fully electric, with a completely autonomous drive and enhanced artificial intelligence, it made an unequivocal statement about Rolls-Royce’s future direction, both in terms of electric power and effortless, highly personalised travel.

15.      ‘Sweptail’, 2017
Rolls-Royce revived the art of coachbuilding with the magnificent ‘Sweptail’, described at the time as ‘automotive Haute Couture’. Inspired by coachbuilt Rolls-Royces and racing yachts of the 1920s and 30s, this unique two-seat coupé featured a panoramic glass roof and a pair of attaché cases concealed behind the coach doors.

16    Phantom 8, 2017
No nameplate occupies a more revered place in the pantheon of great cars and indeed, luxury goods as Phantom. The task to re-invent it for a bold, new era was therefore approached with exquisite care. The result was a Phantom that responded to the changing sensibilities of a new generation whilst maintaining the iconic presence that ensures its ongoing status as the “Best Car in the World”.

17.      Cullinan, 2018
Cullinan is truly the ‘Rolls-Royce of SUVs’, designed and built to take younger, successful high-net-worth individuals to the ends of the Earth in ultimate comfort. With its ‘effortless, everywhere’ capabilities, endless Bespoke possibilities, and unique lifestyle features – including the Recreation Module – it has become one of the most desirable luxury goods on the planet.

18.     Black Badge Cullinan, 2019
Cullinan revelled in its new, darker persona, which included a more powerful 6.7-litre V12 engine, black 22-inch forged alloy wheels, Pantheon grille and Spirit of Ecstasy mascot, plus the first painted brake callipers ever fitted to a factory-delivered Rolls-Royce.

19.      New Ghost, 2020
When it came to present a new Ghost, Rolls-Royce responded to the requirement from a new ascendent generation of successful women and men for a motor car, perfectly aligned with new codes of luxury. The result is an aesthetic that prioritises minimalist design and celebrates material substance. The motor car was also engineered to possess an engaging and dynamic character with no compromise to the serenity and comfort in the rear suite.

20.     Boat Tail, 2021
The Boat Tail commissions took Rolls-Royce Coachbuild into new realms of complexity and audacity, in a demanding technical and creative project that lasted almost four years. A genuine objet d’art, this entirely handcrafted motor car demonstrated the marque’s commitment to coachbuilding as a central part of its future direction and strategy.

About Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the BMW Group and is a completely separate company from Rolls-Royce plc, the manufacturer of aircraft engines and propulsion systems. 2,500 skilled men and women are employed at the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ head office and manufacturing plant at Goodwood, West Sussex, the only place in the world where the company’s super-luxury motor cars are hand-built.

Four Tips to Level Up Your Business

The new year invites you to reflect on old practices, abandoning those that no longer serve your purposes and embracing those that bring the changes you seek. What daily procedures add unnecessary stress and “fat” to your operations, and which can propel your organization to the next level?

Every enterprise is different, requiring leaders to spend time in mindfulness. They must examine where they want their organization to go and the best path for getting there, keeping in mind current societal trends and realities such as a changing climate.

Savvy business leaders draw inspiration from Taoist wu wei principles, meeting the demands of the world as it is instead of fighting like salmon swimming upstream in a futile attempt to change the course of unyielding tides. Embracing these principles entails a seismic mindset shift from the western philosophy of “the hardest path brings the most rewards.” Still, it can result in greater success and happiness among your team. How? Here are four tips to level up your business in 2023.

1. Take Maximum Advantage of Technology Solutions

Technology changes for the average person in the blink of an eye. It moves even more quickly in the business world as profit-driven economic models demand innovations for large organizations able to pay the price. The result? A world of apps and programs for streamlining your daily operations while maximizing profits.

Today’s AI goes far beyond keeping your company running on schedule. It can map your retail stores, advising you of the optimal product placement for maximizing sales. Builders can use virtual reality in construction project planning, but this isn’t the only application of such software. It also enables you to immerse clients in an interactive experience to highlight the benefits of your services.

Even the humble business card has evolved. As the world goes paperless, more organizations employ an electronic version that immediately stores your contact information in a prospective client’s cellphone, ensuring you’re only a click away when they need you.

What other solutions should you consider? Here are four ways technology solutions can help you level up your business in 2023:

  • Smart contracts: Does it seem like every legal contract covers the same territory? Smart contracts keep the essential language intact for legal compliance while allowing you to customize terms for specific clientele.
  • Advanced positioning technology: Keep track of where your packages are in transit. Instead of providing customers with rough delivery estimates, you can pinpoint their product’s arrival and tell them where it is in the supply chain at any given time.
  • Cloud technology: These solutions allow diverse teams to connect over broad geographic areas while keeping your information secure. They also minimize downtime due to inoperable devices.
  • Blockchain technology: A blockchain is a decentralized ledger for recording transactions. While the financial applications are obvious, this technology also plays crucial roles in health care when protecting patient information and ensuring continuity of care.

2. Keep the Human Element First and Foremost

The COVID-19 pandemic gave birth to the Great Reset, and businesses and individuals are still struggling to integrate their daily routines and operations into this new reality. While the media abounds with stories of conflicts between C-suite executives and their workforce, they ignore the opportunity inherent in this moment to redefine the business world and make it more human and sustainable.

Lee Iacocca said years ago that business is, after all, nothing more than a bunch of human relationships. However, many leaders need to pay more attention to the one they have with their staff. For example, multiple companies have seen top talent flee after issuing seemingly arbitrary “return to the office” orders amid soaring profits when their workforce is happier and more productive from home.

Before issuing such edicts, mindfully reflect on what you hope to accomplish. Is it increased collaboration? If so, could you meet that objective by offering a more flexible hybrid schedule? Decrease expenses by exchanging pricy single-use downtown real estate and instead investing in less costly co-working spaces for occasional meetings.

If your only objective is to exercise more power and control over your staff, reflect carefully on that decision. Why make more unnecessary work for yourself if the numbers show remote performance offers equivalent productivity, especially if it results in top talent leaving for less capricious shores? You could be killing the proverbial golden-egg-laying goose. Reality shows the following benefits of remote and hybrid work:

  • Fewer commuters: Resulting in fewer emissions and less stress from battling traffic.
  • Improved productivity: While study numbers vary, most show a significant increase in overall productivity when employees choose their workspace.
  • Decreased sick days: Telecommuting allows workers to perform on those days when they can handle light desk duty but don’t want to infect the entire office.
  • Fewer costs: Pricy lease agreements aside, it’s far less expensive for businesses to allow telecommuting. It costs money to secure the premises and run the lights and heat beyond rent.

3. Embrace Environmental Responsibility

The evidence for climate change is evident everywhere in changing weather patterns. These disruptions will only grow more severe if people fail to take action now, costing businesses untold thousands in reparation costs in coming years and taking an unimaginable toll in terms of human suffering.

Furthermore, embracing sustainable efforts can drive profits. Several recent studies indicate consumers will pay more for eco-friendliness. They also prefer to do business with companies that share their values, such as environmental consciousness and corporate responsibility.

What can you do to green your organization? Much depends on your budget and objectives, but these ideas can help you defray costs while improving your environmental footprint:

  • Use local suppliers: Build your reputation with other business leaders in your community while reducing shipping costs and the resulting emissions from transport.
  • Go paperless: Digital signage reduces the need for printing, and email or collaboration apps can replace old-fashioned memos, improving data security while reducing waste.
  • Make environmental upgrades: Is it time for a new building? Consider LEED-certified builders to make your new structure comply with the highest environmental standards. Putting in parking? A covered lot with solar panels lets electric vehicle owners charge their rides while at work, keeps customers cooler and provides surplus green energy to the grid.
  • Set up green initiatives: You can increase community visibility by participating in local cleanups or sponsoring such efforts.

4. Interact With Your Customers

The final tip to level up your business in 2023 is perhaps the easiest — ask your customers what they want. This simple task alone can propel your name above and beyond the rest in a world where many products don’t even come with instructions anymore, let alone a dedicated customer service line where confused buyers can get support.

How can your customers reach you? Make it clear how they can get in touch by providing this information on product packaging and your company website. Consider contracting with a third-party organization to provide telephone and chat support.

Finally, use algorithms to your advantage. It’s a snap to add “like/dislike” buttons or include electronic feedback forms that generate reports enabling you to judge the popularity of various offerings.
