BIA × G HERBO

BIA RELEASES NEW SONG AND MUSIC VIDEO BESITO FEAT. G HERBO

Multi-platinum-certified Boston-born and Los Angeles-based artist BIA released her new song and music video “Besito” featuring Chicago rapper G Herbo.

Besito” is a track that features BIA’s signature sound and distinctive voice, with her usual girl empowerment theme, encouraging her female listeners to think they’re all that because they are, as she exposes her accomplishments to inspire girls and women while motivating them to never settle.

This time around, BIA opted to give us a deeper look into her universe as an Afro-Puerto Rican and Italian artist raised in Massachusetts switching from Spanish to English with sharp and witty verses in a new, contemporary hip-hop style that reflects how global her music is.

Meanwhile, in the music video, directed by Nigerian-born, British director Daps, we see BIA basking in Puerto Rico, the land of her grandparents, interacting with the people, embracing the culture, and enjoying the idyllic beaches, while looking strong and confident, aligned with the message of “Besito.”

“Besito” featuring G Herbo comes after “Whole Lotta Money Remix” featuring Nicki Minaj. The remix, which has garnered 18 million views on YouTube, came to be after Minaj fell in love with BIA’s “fresh” hip-hop and wanted to jump on the track. The original song became a viral sensation thanks to TikTok with over 275,000 streams on the platform and attracting star support from Cardi BKylie JennerKendall JennerLizzoLil Nas X, and many more.

Premiering today is also the Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 3 where BIA is one of Rihanna’s special guests performing at the event. The iconic fashion show was filmed at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in downtown Los Angeles, and it’s available exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. BIA will be wearing a very bright set that matches her fun and vibrant personality that will be available for purchase after the show, and her act will not only catch your attention, but leave you wanting more.

ABOUT BIA

Multi-Platinum Recording Artist BIA is known for music that possesses both biting wit and boldly authentic swag that stems from BIA’s years traveling through the Boston rap scene, later moving over to Miami, Los Angeles, and then taking over the world. With every mixtape, collaboration, and guest appearance, BIA has only amplified her reach. She dominated 2020 with a fresh new perspective: she inked a deal with Epic Records, dropped the hard-hitting “Free BIA (1st Day Out)” and the intoxicating “COVERGIRL”, as well as dove further into the fashion world with a feature in Good American’s Spring 2020 campaign and Missguided x Sean John Fall 2020 capsule collection.

By the end of 2020, she dropped her For Certain EP, armed with the hit single “Whole Lotta Money” — a song with a central message that unlimited currency can be both mental and physical. The EP reached the Top 10 of Billboard’s Heatseekers Album Charts, and “Whole Lotta Money” became an undeniable force, due in part to its continuous viral success on TikTok. The track has jumped right off the platform and into streaming stardom, marking its territory in the Spotify Viral 50 Chart as well as the Global Spotify Charts and earning her a nomination for “Best Breakthrough Song” at the 2021 MTV VMAs. In addition, BIA’s reimagined version of her hit song “Skate” was featured in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs tune-in promos on NHLNetwork, NBC and NBCSN in the U.S., Sportsnet and TVA Sports in Canada, and across the NHL’s social and digital platforms.

TA3 Swimwear

By: Leila Shams

As we near the end of winter, I’m sure we are all highly anticipating spring and summer. With the beautiful, warm weather rolling in comes the overwhelming need for a perfect beach body. What if we could eat whatever we want, work out less, and still look amazing on the beach? That’s where Leila Shams steps in and says “you can!” With her new swimsuit line, TA3 Swim, everyone can look and feel like a “Baywatch babe” walking down the beach.

Leila Shams is a seasoned fashion designer. She is founder and CEO of TA3 Swimwear–a fashion line that offers a newly innovative type of swimsuit that flatters your shape, regardless of body type. After a lot of hard work and dedication, she has created the world’s most sculpting swimsuits. Her exciting career has involved working for top brands such as DKNY, Express, and Tommy Hilfiger, but launching her newest swimwear line, TA3, has been the highlight of her career.

Leila created TA3 because she wanted to look good in a swimsuit and was inspired by her own insecurities. She wondered why women invest in shape wear for under their clothes, but then when they’re the most exposed on the beach, they wear some of the flimsiest garments ever.

“I see so many ‘inclusive’ swimwear brands showing a suit on a plus-sized woman that just doesn’t fit. If her bust isn’t supported, if there are bulges everywhere, then you’ve just sized up but you haven’t bothered to flatter her body” says Leila. Leila believes we should all be able to eat and still look hot at the pool or beach without having to stress. This is why she named the company TA3, which is “EAT” backwards.

It took Leila almost three years, hundreds of prototypes, and fittings to create a waterproof swimsuit that squeezes your body into a beautiful hourglass shape. TA3 suits are created from compression fabric, which Leila discovered after surgery when she had to wear a compression suit. Her swimsuit is a patent-pending construction that snatches your waist, flattens your tummy and lifts your bust.  Leila is a long-time fashion designer whose designs have clothed the biggest celebrities in the world including Kim Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, Kelly Clarkson and Nicki Minaj. Her products are sold in some of the best boutiques and on-line retailers. Even with her rich designer past, Leila feels that the greatest thrill of her career and life is being the reason that women loving the way they look in a swimsuit, and instilling a newfound confidence in her customers.

TA3 suits are sexy, fashionable, and give every woman the shape and curves they have been striving for their entire lives. Leila’s current, one-piece suit collection comes in all-black , and features three trendy styles: zippy, lacey, and high-cut zippy. The suits are so versatile that women can even wear this matte swimsuit as a bodysuit with a skirt or jeans–making TA3 swimsuits the “little black dress” of this years’ Summer wardrobe. This will be your new go-to piece. You no longer need to buy several different bathing suits.

TA3 Swim has customers raving about their new self-esteem boost. Whether it’s a postpartum mother or victim of the “Covid-15” weight gain, TA3 is bringing women back to the beach and pool by making them feel confident. TA3 swimwear is handing women back their power. Women can now confidently strut their stuff without a worry in the world.

Leila’s creativity, relentless drive, and sense of humor make her the perfect female disruptor who is reimagining the concept of a successful apparel industry. Leila claims, “the way we usually fit women’s clothing is so backwards.” Models are tall, hourglass shaped and “perfect”–but this is not what the average, everyday woman looks like. Women’s bodies can vary and differ in so many ways. What sets Leila’s apparel apart from other brands is that her suits are not very stretchy, and she molds her styles on women of all shapes and sizes. Over the past two years, she has taken in her customers’ feedback and tweaked the design to make necessary changes, which has led to the development of her current collection. Leila explains that making clothing used to be expensive and slow, which was annoying because trends would die out before companies were even able to launch a product. Nevertheless, she realized that clothing should be expensive and slow, because although you may like to design and shop, creating stuff that is quick and cheap is merely fun. In fast fashion, workers aren’t paid what they should be paid and companies produce a lot of waste. On top of that, people end up buying a bunch of clothing that they wear once and then quickly throw away.

Swimsuits are not where it ends for Leila Shams. She fully expects to expand and incorporate more categories focused on ultra-flattering fits for your body shape. She is adding more lengths and fits to her best-selling styles, as well as adding bodysuits. She is also expanding her team. Now with Leila’s new swimsuit line, TA3 Swim, women no longer need to worry about their bodies, jump on crazy diet fads, or work out until their limbs fall off trying to achieve an unrealistic, nearly unattainable body. Leila wants to be known as “the fashion designer that stopped shoving women into thin, stretchy, and unflattering clothing.” She is determined to change the way we fit and size clothing. We can now live in and be proud of our own bodies.

KUWTK Comes to an End

Written by Thais Jacomassi

With a shocking post on instagram, Kim Kardashian West announced the long-running reality series following her and her family is coming to an end after 14 years on air. “It is with heavy hearts that we’ve made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye,” she wrote. The show will end with its 20th season, scheduled to air early next year.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians, featuring Kim and her sisters, Kourtney, Khloé, Kendall and Kylie alongside their brother, Rob, and their mother, Kris Jenner, became a staple of pop culture in the early 21st century and helped shape the family’s careers and lives. It is a show that propelled the popularity of reality TV and what consumers expected of it, but the suspension of the show comes as no surprise. Since the beginning of their careers as reality TV stars, the family has gained millions of social media followers and they have become a household name. Besides show ratings beginning to drop, the family simply no longer needs the promotion anymore.

A spokesperson for E! Network said in a statement, “We thank the entire extended family and our production partners, Bunim Murray and Ryan Seacrest Productions, for embarking on this global phenomenon together.”

This does not mean the end of the Kardashian-Jenner dynasty. In fact, it is highly possible that they may try to push for a deal with online streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu. By not being restricted by cable TV limitations and advertising structures, the family’s franchise could expand in countless directions including a more genuine representation of them as people. There is tremendous opportunity for them in the digital world. It is no lie that reality TV is often scripted and made to be a parody of sorts, so breaking away from that formula could expand the family’s fanbase and show that they have matured past that.

With a networth of $30 million, Kendall Jenner has become the world’s highest paid model doing runways for Versace, Burberry, Tom Ford, and countless other luxury brands. After seven years, she has become one of the most influential figures in the fashion industry. Her younger sister, Kylie Jenner, gained her success after curating Kylie Cosmetics in 2015. Since then, she has also branched out into skincare and was granted the controversial title of ‘youngest self-made billionaire’ by Forbes in 2019. Their older sister, Khloe, ventured into the clothing industry with her own company called Good American which claims to have ‘invented a new women’s size in jeans’ and runs on a platform of inclusivity.

Kim, the one responsible for gaining media attention and bringing her family into the spotlight, has also ventured into the cosmetics business with her cosmetics and fragrance company, KKW Beauty which generated around $100 million of sales in 2019. Along with this, she has turned her shapewear line, Skims, into a success after a rocky start and has announced a social justice podcast on Spotify.

These are few of many of the family’s accomplishments and despite the countless controversies surrounding them, it is no lie that they helped to shape pop culture into what it is today and will continue to do so.

Kylie Jenner Appears on Vogue Hong Kong Cover

By Elle Grant

In recent months, the metropole Hong Kong appears almost daily in news feeds: ongoing protests, clashes with Beijing, the impacts of the new security law, and more. This week, however, Hong Kong finds itself in the news with a less then predictable name: Kylie Jenner.

The 22-year-old makeup and reality television mogul graces Hong Kong Vogue’s self-titled “Action Issue.” She poses in cranberry latex with white hot nails with the text “Act Now” printed across her lap. While the imagery of the cover is elegant, many are calling into question the decision to have Jenner fronting the issue, citing the ongoing dynamics currently in Hong Kong. The cover reveal comes just two days after Hong Kong delays its election, in what many are calling an effort to support the growing pro-Beijing presence in the city and cripple pro-democracy candidates. Both revelations follow years of protests in favor of democracy, with heightened tensions over the last few months due to the coronavirus and a new national security law imposed at the end of June.

Vogue Hong Kong cites on Instagram: “At the age of just 22, her beauty brand #KylieCosmetics has achieved far reaching success, and she is also active in charitable causes including funding surgeries for children with cleft lips and palate through Smile Train” as its reasons behind making Jenner the cover star. Similarly, Jenner gushed about her excitement on her own Instagram, but made no reference to the current political situation in the region. The cover appears especially interesting in context of the September issue of Vogue U.K. which features 20 different activists photographed in black and white.

Diet Prada on Instagram, a notorious critic of the fashion community, writes “Y tho?” when questioning the “Kendall for Pepsi move.” The latter statement is in reference to Kylie’s older sister Kendall Jenner’s own brush with controversy. Severe backlash and accusations of political tone deafness followed her now infamous 2017 Pepsi ad. In the ad, Kendall Jenner hands a police officer a Pepsi at a protest, seemingly in reference to the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests.

Comments, especially on social media, have called out Jenner and Vogue Hong Kong for the decision. “$5 she doesn’t even know what’s going on in Hong Kong,” joked one Instagram user. Another argued for criticism to be steered away from Jenner and instead towards the magazine: “How about you actually put an activist on the cover that stands for the message you’re trying to portray?” Currently, neither Vogue Hong Kong nor Kylie Jenner have commented on the criticism.

Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project

Oxygen, the home for quality true-crime programming, debuts a compelling two-hour documentary, “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project,” on Sunday, April 5, at 7pm ET/PT.

With 2.2 million men and women behind bars in the United States, more than any other country, Kim Kardashian West is making it her personal mission to address the criminal reform crisis and make an impactful change. This documentary is an inside look at Kim’s efforts to secure freedom for Americans who she believes have been wronged by the justice system.

In Oxygen’s two-hour documentary “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project,” after hearing the story of Alice Marie Johnson, a great-grandmother serving a life-plus-25-year sentence as a first-time nonviolent offender, Kim Kardashian West embarked on a road to advocacy as she campaigned for criminal justice reform and helped convince the White House to grant Alice clemency in June 2018.

The show captures Kim as she lends a hand to right injustices and advocate for change by exploring the cases of Dawn Jackson, Alexis Martin, Momolu Stewart and David Sheppard, all of whom she and the legal experts she is working alongside believe have been unfairly sentenced. The documentary follows the origins of their individual stories, revealing the devastating circumstances that led them to take the actions that changed their lives forever.

In her crusade to shed light on the criminal justice system and help people who are impacted by incarceration, Kim travels to the prisons, speaks to the families and friends, lobbies public officials, and consults with lawyers as well as her own legal team from #cut50 to develop strategies to facilitate their release. Along the way, the film documents the progress that led to Momolu Stewart’s and David Sheppard’s releases. It also highlights Kim’s growing understanding of mandatory sentencing, the damaging problems of mass incarceration, and the importance of educational programs and rehabilitation efforts for a successful reentry into society.

by Victor Wardell

On Thurs., November 2, 2017 Condé Nast announced that the print component of Teen Vogue will be discontinued.

This brings up questions like why? And, could it have been saved?

Many speculate the cancellation could have resulted from how controversial the magazine has become. Many parents have yet to forgive when Condé Nast published, “A Guide To Anal Sex.”

Teen Vogue has featured some of the biggest teen stars including Justin BieberZendaya, One Direction, Kendall and Kylie JennerDemi Lovato, Rowan Blanchard and Yara Shahid.

Readers don’t fret because you can still catch the new editions online.
