ANDREW CAREY IRVING

360 MAGAZINE #MCM

LEO/49yro/Creative Director at And Company

We had an opportunity to chat with Andrew about his🔥 (lit) Instagram and what inspired most of his photos.

“I love photography, and some of my favorite photographers are Mert + Marcus, Harry Benson, Herb Ritts, Steven Klein, and Jason Bell (who I worked with on the ad campaign for “The Crown” on Netflix). As a creative director for entertainment advertising, I’ve directed over 100 photo shoots with people ranging from Al Pacino, Missy Elliot, Drew Barrymore, Zendaya, Taye Diggs, and Helen Mirren.

I shoot everything on my iPhone–it’s always there, easy to use, and takes pretty good pictures. I use VSCO app for editing; it’s a free app that pro photographers use, and has filters that are more subtle than the ones on Instagram.

Why do I take so many pics of myself? When inspiration strikes, I need a model that is right there, is patient, does what I say, is kinda cute, and doesn’t charge me for their time. So that’s me! I’ll set up the shot, place my iPhone on whatever’s handy–an old Starbucks cup, the base of a street sign, a window ledge–set the timer for 10 seconds, and…bam!

Clothing-wise, I’m inspired by the understated elegance of Helmut Lang, clean lines of Alexander Wang, sporty comfort of Zanerobe, and the accessibility of Target. I try to feature my shoes in my pics, since I am a sneaker head: I have over 100 pairs of sneakers from Adidas to Louboutin to Zara so I can coordinate my shoes with whatever I’m wearing.

Next projects: a book on everything I’ve learned directing photo shoots, and a photo exhibition on androgynous guys in NYC–their beauty, style and courage intrigues me and I want to explore their world and help give them a voice.”

#SWOLEMATE

Fitness Expert Shares Benefits of Working Out with Your Sweetheart

We all know that exercise is good for you, but did you know that it can actually improve your relationship? Working out with a sweetheart has more benefits than you may realize. By becoming your honey’s swolemate, you will find a renewed emotional bond, attractiveness, and confidence.

When my husband and I started dating, he asked me to go with him to the gym to “spot” him.  Spot?! What does that even mean? Although today I am a personal trainer, back then my workout experience was limited to phys-ed in high school, and a yoga class that I went to once and hated. Danny however, was a gym regular and I was very intimidated at the idea of trying to appear like I knew anything about working out.  He obviously worked heavier weights, focused on different muscles and I was more of a cardio girl back in those days. I actually didn’t like weight lifting, but I went along because it was our time together.

I noticed that there was something different about doing a physical activity together as compared to sitting watching a movie.

Although any friend or loved one can be your swolemate, there is a double benefit if it is your significant other.  Here are just a few of the benefits:

1. It increases your emotional bond.  When you workout next to someone else, your body naturally tries to sync with the other person’s level of physical activity. As long as both people feel safe, their brainwaves, heartbeat and energy will begin to vibrate at the same frequency.

2. It makes you physically more attracted to each other. Want to appear more attractive in the eye of your honey?  The physiological effects of exercise mirror the same effects of romantic attraction: sweaty palms, increased heart rate, shortness of breath, and a rush of feel-good hormones. You can use these wonderful benefits to your advantage by scheduling date night at the gym.

3. It boosts the results of your workout and improves your confidence. Because humans are social creatures, the mere act of being in the presence of someone increases your effort and ability to do an activity. You may not be doing the exact workout but his/her presence boosts your energy and you get a better workout.

Not only do Danny and I work out together regularly, we teach couples and families how to stay fit together with a program we created call the Yoke Training System. Over the years Danny and I have tried swing dancing, evening walks, traditional gym workouts and even yoga classes (yes, I went back!). We may not always like the same activity but we give it a try until we find something we enjoy and fits into our current life’s agenda. The greatest thing you can do is stop worrying about weight loss and waistline and just have fun with your special swolemate.

 ABOUT DANNY & DENISE LOCSIN:

Husband and wife team Danny and Denise Locsin are fitness experts that specialize in relationship and family exercise. They are the creators of the Yokebar, which has been described as the ultimate family exercise program. As a busy mother of four, Denise wanted something that was high intensity, but also safe and easy to set up. Finding a system that could adapt to a variety of fitness needs and ability levels was challenging. The requirements became even broader when Danny injured himself and was forced to give up his usual exercise routine.

After much scientific research and testing, Yokebar was born. Today, Danny and Denise train people in the Yoke Training System and also are the founders of Hi5 Produce, a leading corporate produce delivery service located in the Silicon Valley.

All-New Content to MARVEL LEGACY!

Marvel Legacy is changing the way you read comics – and the future of the Marvel Universe. This fall, Marvel, is proud to present MARVEL PRIMER PAGES!, three all-new pages of comic content written by Robbie Thompson (Silk, Doctor Strange and the Sorcerer Supreme) with a majority of art from acclaimed superstar Mark Bagley (The Amazing Spider-Man, All New X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man). These stories will draw all readers into the Marvel Universe like never before. And at no extra cost to the reader, what better way to change the way readers jump into a series!

Featured in select Marvel Legacy issues, each story provides easy access into the world of each title character, as well as easy access into the Legacy stories. Designed to give brand new readers a hook into the series, MARVEL PRIMER PAGES will offer all fans a simple jumping on point for almost all of Marvel’s heroic and iconic characters.

“When I first approached Robbie and Mark to do these Primer stories, I gave them only one edict: to remind all readers both who these characters are and what they’re about in three all new pages,” said Marvel editor Darren Shan. “What we got back has been some of the most fun art I’ve ever seen from Mark! And we couldn’t be luckier to have someone like Robbie to cherry pick the most classic moments in Marvel history. Then the two of them tie this all up into one perfect package.  I think everyone will love these!”

“It’s been an absolute blast working on this project — it gives me a great excuse to re-read so many of my favorite comics!” said writer Robbie Thompson.  I’ve been a fan of Mark’s for years, so to get to work with him is a dream come true. Mark takes the scripts and distills them down to their essence, finding brilliant ways to tell these stories with truly iconic images. I can’t wait for people to see what he’s done with these!”

“This Legacy gig has been a lot of fun to work on and a bit of an education…even for someone who has been drawing comics for as long as I have! I think readers will really enjoy the stories we’re revisiting,” added artist Mark Bagley.

Marvel Primer Pages give every fan the opportunity to truly “MAKE MINE MARVEL” by providing most accessible way to enjoy Marvel Comics – ensuring that long-time fans will fall in love with their favorite stories all over again, and that new fans will be drawn into Marvel’s magical universe of adventure and heroics. Coming this fall, don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of your favorite story – with Marvel Primer Pages!

Bea Miller’s “buy me diamonds” premiered on Vevo

Directed by duo AJ & Miles (who have recently worked with some of the newest rising artists such as Billie Eilish, Stanaj, Jaden Smith, and Kid Ink) the video was shot in Los Angeles and features Bea’s best friend.

The focus song on chapter two: red, “buy me diamonds,” (co-written by Miller, Ido Zmishlany and Steph Jones), “is very sarcastic,” notes Miller. “I was thinking of this previous relationship, and at that point it was, ‘How dare you try to come back into my life after how you made me feel about myself? So the sarcasm stemmed from anger. But anger can be very empowering – I think it can be used to create something amazing.”

Each collection in Miller’s year long album project has a theme tied to a different primary color: chapter one: blue (out now) evoked “the sadness you feel when there’s somebody in your life who you have to let go of”; chapter two: red, released on June 2nd, represents “the very important next step. I wrote the songs on red in that period of time where I was ready to pick myself up, brush myself off and start again”; chapter three: yellow, releasing in August, will continue the journey of self-discovery; and the as-yet-to be titled full-length album (which features collaborations with a number of notable songwriters and producers including Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, Sir Nolan, Jesse Shatkin and Pop & Oak, to Ilsey and Nick Jonas to name a few) to be released in November, will consist of the nine previously released songs and include three new tracks to complete the story arc.

SABRINA CARPENTER

Former 360 MAGAZINE Cover Girl, Sabrina Carpenter, Releases New Single, “Why?”
30+ CITY SUMMER DE-TOUR LAUNCHED LAST NIGHT IN VANCOUVER

FEATURING SPECIAL GUESTS ALEX AIONO & NEW HOPE CLUB

On the heels of launching her North American summer De-Tour last night, singer/songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has released her new single “Why” which is out NOW. The track, co-written by Carpenter, Jonas Jeberg and Brett McLaughlin, is available now at all digital providers HERE and all streaming providers HERE.

“Why is a question we seem to pose daily, so there are multiple meanings within the song that are up to interpretation. We don’t necessarily need to be the same, to love the same,” Carpenter says of the Jeberg-produced song. “Sometimes differences can hold us together and I think that’s a beautiful sentiment to how we deal with divergence and how it can furthermore prove our compatibility. In the end, we don’t really need to know ‘why’ if we are confident in our own emotions.”

Carpenter teased the track by posting photos of couples from films with “Opposites Attract” themes across her social media accounts; in addition, similarly themed post cards that included different portions of the track’s single art were mailed to select fans across the country, driving them online to collaborate and piece the final artwork together.

The song received its debut live performance at last night’s The De-Tour kick-off date in Vancouver, BC. The 30+ date summer trek marks Carpenter’s second headline tour, following her sold out EVOLution Tour last fall. The De-Tour will continue to bring a summer of fun and music across major North American cities such as Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, New Orleans, Orlando, Atlanta, Nashville, and Boston before concluding on August 27 in Toronto, ON. The tour, presented by American Tourister, will feature special guests Alex Aiono & New Hope Club on all dates and resumes tomorrow night in Edmonton, AB.
