EDEN’S NEW ALBUM

Vocalist/producer/multi-instrumentalist EDEN announces the forthcoming release of his new album, no future. Due out via Astralwerks on February 14, no future marks the follow-up to his acclaimed 2018 full-length debut, vertigo. Also today, the Dublin-bred artist born Jonathon Ng premieres no future’s lead single “projector,” available now for purchase and streaming from all digital partners HERE. The track is accompanied by a beautifully haunting video directed by EDEN’s frequent collaborators Zhang + Knight. Watch the “projector” video HERE.

As with all of his music to date, “projector” was recorded and produced by EDEN at his home studio. With its dreamlike textures and heady drum-machine rhythms, the song finds EDEN’s graceful vocal work channeling a heavy-hearted surrender.

“‘projector’ is about appreciating all the ebbs and flows and accepting how things really are instead of wishing they were some other way,” Ng explains. “It started out as a very no-man’s-land kind of song, and then the lyrics ended up reflecting the concept of the death of the universe into a very personal space: this idea that no matter what’s going on in your life right now, everything eventually runs its course.”

Filmed in Bulgaria, the “projector” video perfectly captures the tension between the track’s airy sonic palette and the profound sense of loneliness within its lyrics. As Zhang + Knight explain, the video took shape from a concept based on “trapping EDEN inside a vividly saturated and beautiful prison, watching him trying to escape to the outside world…only to find that the outside world is just as lonely and bleak as the room he has just left behind.”

To achieve the “projector” video’s surrealist quality, Zhang + Knight enlisted a team of painters who spent a week creating an enormous scenic painting of the sky. Throughout the video-making process, the directors drew inspiration from mid-century painters like John Register and Edward Hopper and their tendency toward “images which are extremely bright and colorful but also very sad and evocative.”

“projector” follows the recent release of “untitled,” another track set to appear on no future. Since premiering on October 8th, “untitled” has surpassed 1.5 million global streams, including over 1.2 million streams on Spotify. In addition, the song landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlist in 12 countries, including the U.S., UK, Japan, and Australia/New Zealand.

Released in January 2018, EDEN’s debut album vertigo shot to No. 1 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in 12 countries, racking up over 200 million streams globally thanks in part to the singles “start//end,” which Billboard deemed, “striking… a nostalgically cast reflection on youth and all-too-relatable feelings of desperation and hope,” “gold” and “crash.” To date, EDEN has amassed over one billion streams for vertigo and his two EPs: 2015’s End Credits and 2016’s i think you think too much of me which features the Lorde-supported lead single “sex.” With the vertigo World Tour selling out across the globe, spring 2019 saw the premiere of “909” – a stand-alone track and the final song released in the vertigo era. “

V Magazine said, “both [EDEN’s] music and his persona seem reflective of his overall goal— to make something grand and magical out of something that seems much smaller… Given the captivating and utterly intriguing output he’s given us so far, the task should be easily doable.” L’Officiel said, “EDEN has come a long way from producing music from the bedroom of his childhood home” and Ladygunn said, EDEN “(walks) the line between stirring beats and subdued lyrics…earnest emotion and ingenuity.”

QUEEN NAIJA BACK WITH NEW SINGLE “GOOD MORNING TEXT”

DEBUT ALBUM COMING SOON

Skyrocketing past 1 billion combined global streams and cementing herself as one of the year’s boldest breakout stars, platinum-certified R&B singer and songwriter Queen Naija shares a new single entitled “Good Morning Text” today.

“Good Morning Text” arrives on the heels of her last anthem “Away From You.” Amassing over 3.1 million Spotify streams to date, HotNewHipHop praised its “catchy hook,” and Rated RnB dubbed it a “finger-snapping bop.” Revolt placed it among, “7 Queen Naija songs that are testaments to her artistry” and elaborated, “It’s a display of a certain level of growth.”

The 24-year-old Detroit songstress, who began singing in church at age three, has emerged as one of 2018’s biggest breakout R&B stars. Queen and her former husband had found fame online with their popular YouTube channel. When their marriage fell apart last year, she self-released “Medicine,” a song detailing her side of the story. Within three weeks, “Medicine” debuted at No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 – a remarkable accomplishment for an unsigned artist. The New York Times singled out “Medicine” as “one of this year’s defining R&B songs,” and it eventually went platinum.

Her self-titled debut EP, Queen Naija, is out now and available HERE for download and streaming via Capitol Records.

Between “Medicine,” platinum follow-up single “Karma” and “Bad Boy,” which was produced by NO I.D. (JAY-Z, Kanye West), the collection has clocked over over 800 million combined global streams to date.

HIGHLY SUSPECT DROPS SINGLE

Gearing up for their upcoming album release, MCID, Highly Suspect drops single “Canals” via 300 Entertainment.  In the midst of their US headline tour, alongside supporting act Slothruth, the group is anticipating their forthcoming album while connecting with fans in every city. Today, Highly Suspect also announced their 27 city North America Headline with a show at NYC’s Terminal 5 in May. Tickets go on sale 11/1 at 10am local time.

“Canals,” is the second single from the band’s highly anticipated Junior album, MCID. The song meshes classical rock with the soulful chants of a Swahili choir, and captures lead singer Johnny Stevens’ frustration with the Trump presidency, saying that his rage feels like “someone took a crack pipe, lit it with a torchlight, and threw it on a gas line- there is fire everywhere.”  “Canals” sets the bar high for the remainder of the album and excites fans for the sounds that Highly Suspect has in store.

After dropping a genre-bending collaboration with Young Thug titled “Tokyo Ghoul,” the 3x Grammy Award-nominated rock band surely is turning rock music on its head. The rock band, who have topped the active rock charts multiple times, are also leading with a track with not a single guitar in it, ’16’- which is currently top 10 at active rock radio and is climbing the alternative charts. The integrated genre of MCID is not just the third full-length project from three guys who approach the rock genre with a hip hop ethos, but it’s a family meeting and an apology from singer Johnny Stevens whose lyrics demand accountability from himself and urge him to be more honest to conquer the demons that made him who he is. With stories of heartbreak and hope, it’s not surprising that his most vulnerable collection of songs is addressed directly to his chosen family, his followers, and his comrades. The transparency and emotion of the new music only showcases the intensity that MCID will have throughout.

While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a black man (Kaluuya) and a black woman (Jodie Turner-Smith), are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the man, a retail employee, and the woman, a criminal defense lawyer, are forced to go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country.

As they drive, these two unlikely fugitives will discover themselves and each other in the most dire and desperate of circumstances and will forge a deep and powerful love that will reveal their shared humanity and shape the rest of their lives.

lil durk, markie, 360 MAGAZINE

Markie × Lil Durk

Louisville, KY rapper, Markie, has released a video for his new song, “In My Flesh” ft. Lil Durk, on Interscope Records. Directed by Marc Diamond and shot in Atlanta, check out the video HERE.

“In My Flesh” will feature on Markie’s debut EP, ‘Right My Wrongs,’ out this winter on Interscope Records.

“In My Flesh” is Markie’s third release on Interscope Records since his signing at the start of the year; “Repent,” his debut song, dropped in August and the second single, “Ugly Places” came at the end of September. Markie has been on the road with Roddy Ricch, opening for select dates on the east coast leg of his tour. His last show will be November 22 in Cincinnati, OH at the Roselawn Live.

A 19-year-old rapper with a lifetime of stories to tell, Markie hails from the East End of Louisville, Kentucky—a place that inevitably pours into each song he creates. “Where I come from is the gutter, it’s the trenches,” says Markie. “People have their ideas of what life is like in Louisville, so I wanted to use my music to tell them what’s really going on.” Markie’s forthcoming debut project brings his magnetic charisma and melodic flow to that purposely unfiltered truth-telling.

Markie first discovered his gift with words as a little kid, finding early recognition by winning third place in a statewide short-story contest in sixth grade. Naming Lil Wayne and Boosie Badazz among his longtime influences, he got his start in music at age 18, teaming up with his cousin and recording his first song in a closet studio. He soon caught the ear of local producers, who offered him free studio time at a recording spot in his neighborhood. Before he’d even released any of his songs, Markie landed a management deal and quickly drew the attention of Interscope Records, who signed him in early 2019.
