Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver, part of OpenRoad Auto Group, marked the official grand opening of the venerable brand’s new Vancouver showroom, Canada’s first stand-alone Rolls-Royce retail facility. The official unveiling of the luxury auto maker’s most anticipated new model of all time – the Rolls-Royce Cullinan took place during exclusive events for both media and clients, marking the first time the luxury auto maker has held a new model debut in Canada.

“Cullinan will be a game-changer for Rolls-Royce, especially in Canada providing our clients with the ultimate in luxury and a totally capable all-wheel drive vehicle. OpenRoad Auto Group’s new Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Vancouver is located at 1809 West 5th Avenue on Vancouver’s west side and replaces the former dealership located just a few blocks away. The 4,500 square foot, two level luxury automotive retail centre offers an elegant showroom featuring high end finishes, premium architectural details and space for up to six Rolls-Royce models. The new dealership is currently the only stand-alone Rolls-Royce dealership in Canada. All other Canadian stores combine Rolls-Royce with other luxury car brands like Karma or Lamborghini.

Authentic Rolls-Royce engineering – everywhere

Key to the creation of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV was the Architecture of Luxury – Rolls-Royce’s proprietary all-aluminium architecture. The Architecture of Luxury really comes into its own in creating Cullinan. The engineering team behind Cullinan adapted the Architecture of Luxury to the design template of a high-bodied car laid down by Giles Taylor and his design team thanks to its innate adaptability. It was designed and engineered from the ground up in such a way as to be scalable to the size and weight requirements of different future Rolls-Royce models, including those with different propulsion, traction and control systems, thus underpinning the long-term future product roadmap.

“The drivetrain system we engineered for Cullinan had one key job to do,” explains Caroline Krismer, Engineering Project Leader for Cullinan. “To bring the famed Rolls-Royce ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ to all other terrains possible, while ensuring class-leading on-road behaviour in the SUV sector.” The integration of new technologies into the architecture was key to ensuring the fundamental quality of Cullinan as Effortless, Everywhere.

The 6.75 litre twin-turbo V12 Rolls-Royce enginedelivers 563bhp/420kW and 850Nm/627lb-ft of torque to the all-new Rolls-Royce All-Wheel Drive. A four-wheel steering system provides never-before-seen handling. The entire package makes Cullinan capable of overcoming any challenge while still delivering the world-renowned “Rolls-Royce Magic Carpet Ride.’

Designing a force of nature

“At this point in the history of automotive design, SUVs have become homogenous and ubiquitous,” comments Giles Taylor, Director of Design, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “The label SUV

is now applied to anything with a two-box silhouette and the least suggestion of going off tarmac. We envisioned an authentic, three-box all-terrain high-bodied car with a convention-challenging design and absolute capability that would satisfy the adventurous urges of our clients.”

Contemporary and functional design ensures Cullinan gains iconic status in the face of increasingly bland SUV designs. The first “three-box” offer in the SUV-sector, Cullinan offers individual seating configuration where customers have the option of a unique glass partition wall that creates a distinct environment for passengers, separated from the luggage compartment. The most practical of Rolls-Royces, Cullinan is the most versatile, family oriented, fun-to-drive super-luxury SUV available today. Cullinan offers a suite of Bespoke features developed specifically for the many various lifestyles of its owners including the Viewing Suite and multiple options for a ‘Bespoke Recreation Module.

WHO: MILES ELECTRIC BAND –Progressive All-Star ensemble featuring Miles Davis alumni revises the framework for modern jazz improvisation. The avant-garde collective revisits repertoire from Davis’ electric period to pay homage to The Chief. The band represents two generations of players: Davis’contemporaries and the next generation.

This evening is fronted by masterful trumpeter Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, along with a group of stellar instrumentalists and fusion-era Miles Davis alumni, who come together as Miles Electric Band. This multi-generational band specializes in the wired-up and funky music Davis, created from the late 1960s to the ‘80s on albums including Bitches Brewand You’re Under Arrest.

Miles Electric Band, led by drummer/producer Vincent Wilburn, Jr., nephew of Miles Davis, features many of the commanding musicians Davistapped for his various jazz-rock ensembles. Among them, guitarist DeWayne “Blackbyrd” McKnight of Davis and Herbie Hancockfame, Daviscollaborators and keyboardists Robert Irving III and John Beasley, and percussionist Munyungo Jackson, a veteran of multiple MilesDavis tours and recordings from the late 80s and early 90s. They are joined by saxophone ace Antoine Roney,Prince’s last bassist Dywane Thomas Jr.(MonoNeon), tabla player Debashish Chaudhury, and turntable whiz DJ Hapa.

Mentored by uncle and New Orleans saxophone luminary Donald Harrison, Scott aTunde Adjuah rocketed to recognition with his 2006 GRAMMY-nominated Concord debut, Rewind That. Standing at the cutting edge of jazz and new directions in R&B and electronic music, Scott released his triple-album Centennial Trilogy in 2017.

NUE Drops Hypnotic Video for “Nightfall”

Toronto artist NUE, premiered his much anticipated music video for his latest single, Nightfall via Hypebeast. The song has already cultivated over 1 million total streams since its audio release on Noisey along with the uptempo “Deadman.” “Nightfall” is a striking visual with animated narcotics, skulls, and animé-inspired caricatures (that he drew himself).

The anime illustrator explained the video to Hypebeast stating, “Soon as the sun goes down that’s when my day starts and that’s pretty much what the song is. N****s pretty much live in the darkness, me and boys that’s just the lifestyle. I got a project I’m working on right now that I’m super excited about. I went to a different planet to make that shit, it’s all these new sounds the world’s never heard before, so be sure to watch out for that.”

The video’s release follows Nue’s impressive Iroquois mixtape that went on to capture the attention of outlets such as; Complex, The Fader, Pigeons and Planes, PAPER Magazine, Rap Radar, and more. The Toronto native is slowly making waves in the American music market as he performed at the first ever Canadian music stage at this past SXSW.

NUE vulnerably shows his paranoia and dealings with women. Through all the nuanced complexities that NUE experiences, the video ends with a calmness taking over him — as blood drapes all over his body, symbolizing escaping his troubles and coming to terms with his issues.

(Los Angeles, CA) – RADD® (Recording Artists Against Drunk Driving) has launched a College DUI Awareness campaign to promote responsible driving and road safety. This year, RADD®has partnered once again with KROQ’s Weenie Roast, as  sponsor of the Designated Driver drop off lane at Stub Hub Center. The first 106 Designated Drivers received a free water and special gift. KROQ also supported RADD’s message with radio spots and social media. Check out hi-res photos here.

RADD® has been partnering with emerging music talent in a peer-to-peer program designed to reduce DUI arrests and fatalities, by encouraging everyone to “plan ahead” with a designated driver, ride share, uber, Lyft or taxi.  RADD’s message is “have fun, plan ahead.” Drinking and driving is not an option.

There has been an uptick with DUI’s and road fatalities reported daily. With summer coming up, we can expect many more.

RADD’s successful DUI Awareness campaign is on more than 47 college campusesSouthern California campuses with a combined student population of 1,000,000, backed by a grant from the California Office Of Traffic Safety (OTS).

Eric Prydz is a giant of the contemporary dance scene thanks to his immaculate productions and rare understanding of dance floor dynamics. The Smashing Pumpkins

GRAMMY® Award-winning, acclaimed alternative rock pioneers, The Smashing Pumpkins today announced a national sweepstakes for a 1979 House Party. Inspired by their iconic “1979” music video the band will perform an intimate show at a secret residential location in Los Angeles, CA on June 28, 2018 ahead of their upcoming Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour, kicking off on July 12, 2018.

The sweepstakes winner and a guest will receive exclusive access to the 1979 House Party, a Yamaha guitar, round-trip flights to Los Angeles, CA, a two-night stay at a Hilton property, and a cash card for ground transportation. Produced by Live Nation, the Shiny And Oh So Bright Tour is The Smashing Pumpkins’ first tour in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha. The 39-city outing will kick off in Glendale, AZ on July 12, 2018 and visit North American arenas throughout the summer. Indie rock band Metric will support them on the tour. The monumental tour, which coincides with the 30th anniversary of the band’s formation, will highlight music from the group’s inception through 2000, and will exclusively feature material from their groundbreaking debut Gish through Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, Adore, and Machina. Longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder will also take part, as the band moves to a three guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums.

Bastille’s new single, is an escapist anthem with breakbeats and drum & feels loosely inspired by 90’s dance music plus a euphoric hook that is an unmistakable signature of the UK band. We keep on running, running through a red light, like we’re trying to burn the night away, sings frontman Dan Smith on the songߣs vivid, cinematic chorus. He explains, Quarter Past Midnight is about trying to capture that moment of a night out. Some people are gonna go home; for some this is just the beginning. It became about being in someone’s car, driving through the city. I wanted to try and capture that sense of excitement, and that rush.

Recorded and self-produced in the bandߣs newly built studio, an old porn studio that we turned into a place that could be ours, which also houses Smith’s record label Best Laid Plans (Rag N’Bone Man, Rationale), the song’s nocturnal setting evokes the infinite possibilities that darkness brings.

It’s way easier to escape in the night time, says Smith. Places that arenߣt normally open are open to the world, and the places that you associate with reality and work are all shut down. Thereߣs a parallel universe that exists, and this other set of people who are out and about.

The five months Bastille spent in London recording new music was the longest theyߣve stayed in one place since releasing their RIAA certified Platinum debut album, Bad Blood, five years ago. The four-piece ߝ comprising frontman Smith (who is the sole songwriter and co-produces all the tracks alongside Mark Crew), keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist/guitarist Will Farquarson and drummer Chris Wood ߝ has played over 500 shows across six continents, including their recent, critically acclaimed ReOrchestrated tour, which London’s Evening Standard praised as brave, brilliant and a bit bonkersߪthe sound of a band breaking down barriers and pushing out of their comfort zone.

Introduced stateside in 2013 with the single Pompeii, which is now 6x Platinum, Bastille has had five Top 5 hits at Alternative radio. Globally, the band has sold upwards of 15 million adjusted singles and six million adjusted albums. Hailed by Rolling Stone as Brit pop’s new crown princes, the band now has more than three billion streams across all platforms. It was only in stopping to take a breath that Smith was able to reflect on Bastilleߣs journey. Our first album was pieced together over a period of time, and then we never stopped to make our second record, we just carried on going, Smith recalls. So it was really unusual and awesome to stop, properly focus on one thing and live a life in London for a while.
