ROLLS-ROYCE MOTOR CARS RELEASES WRAITH EAGLE VIII SKETCHES ON THE CENTENARY OF THE FIRST NON-STOP TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT

To mark the centenary of the first non-stop transatlantic flight, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today releases unseen design sketches of its latest Collection Car, Wraith Eagle VIII. The collection of 50 motor cars tells the epic tale of the pioneering flight of Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Brown. The duo conquered unchartered skies to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a Vickers Vimy aircraft, powered by twin Rolls-Royce Eagle VIII engines, exactly 100 years ago.

The sketches, envisioned by the Bespoke Collective of the House of Rolls-Royce, offer a rare and intimate insight into the creative journey undertaken by Rolls-Royce designers as they worked to express an extraordinary act of courage within the palette of a Rolls-Royce motor car.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, commented, “The unique skill of our Bespoke Design Collective sees the story of one of the most pivotal moments of the 20th century, the first non-stop transatlantic flight, told using Wraith, a motor car which speaks of power, drama and adventure. Wraith Eagle VIII is a modern masterpiece – these sketches offer an extraordinary insight into its creation.

The designs highlight the remarkable attention to detail of Rolls-Royce Bespoke craftsmanship. The starlight headliner sketch shows cloud embroidery, the halfway point coordinates and the flight path of Alcock and Brown. A further detailed sketch shows the night-time view from above, which is expertly incorporated into Wraith’s fascia, in the form of a gold, silver and copper inlay.

The sketch of the Collection Car’s clock depicts an iced background effect reminiscent of the freezing instrument panels of the adventurers, while the clock’s green night time glow is illustrated – a direct reference to the only light seen by Alcock and Brown as they crossed the Atlantic.

Wraith Eagle VIII, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ latest Collection Car will be created for discerning collectors at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, West Sussex – a Centre of Global Luxury Manufacturing Excellence.

The first non-stop transatlantic flight

Captain John Alcock and Lieutenant Arthur Brown braved uncharted skies to make the first non-stop transatlantic flight in June, 1919. Contemporaries of Sir Henry Royce, Alcock and Brown flew non-stop from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Clifden, Ireland in a modified First World War Vickers Vimy bomber aircraft. The bi-plane was powered by twin 20.3 litre, 350 bhp, Rolls-Royce Eagle VIII engines. It is from this remarkable engine that this Collection takes its name. Rolls-Royce marks the 100 year anniversary of this feat with a highly contemporary Collection that speaks to today’s adventurers, whilst honouring those who changed the course of history.

I do not know what we should most admire – their audacity, determination, skill, science, their aeroplane, their Rolls-Royce engines – or their good fortune”, commented Sir Winston Churchill, following the perilous journey that brought unfathomable advancement to 20th century society.

Alcock and Brown established a legend and gained a place alongside Sir Donald Campbell in the most select club in the world; those who push beyond previous conceptions of human endeavour to achieve seemingly impossible records on land, water and now, air. Their one binding characteristic? Rolls-Royce power.

The duo suffered every conceivable challenge an aviator could face. The Rolls-Royce Eagle VIII engines were the only components that proved indestructible. The engines propelled the aerial voyage at previously unimagined speeds, averaging 115 mph. Their peril cannot be underestimated. Their radio and navigation instruments failed almost immediately, leaving the pilots flying unaided at night through dense cloud and freezing fog for many hours, sometimes upside down. Eventually they emerged from the cloud and using Brown’s extraordinary skill as a navigator, flew by the stars to the coast of Ireland.

Lil Keed Releases Debut Album

Lil Keed has released his debut album Long Live Mexico out today on Young Stoner Life Records / 300 Entertainment. The title was inspired by Keed’s late friend “Mexico” who passed away earlier this year, the album is Keed’s way of paying respect to a loved one but also celebrating life. Long Live Mexico includes Keed’s recent singles “Oh My God”, “Proud Of Me” featuring Young Thug and “Pull Up” featuring Lil Uzi Vert & YNW Melly, plus new tracks with features from Gunna, Nav, Moneybagg Yo, Lil Gotit, Lil Duke, Roddy Rich, Karlae, Stickbaby, Guap Tarantino and PG Casper.

Lorem Ipsum Receives Gold Stevie® Award for Seiko USA Campaign

Multi-disciplinary experiential design firm, Lorem Ipsum is pleased to announce that its work for Seiko USA has received a Gold Stevie® Award from the American Business Awards® in the Website category under “Consumer Products-Non-Durables.”

The award was presented on Tuesday, June 11 during the 17th Annual American Business Awards banquet in New York City. The American Business Awards feature a wide selection of categories to recognize the achievements of creative professionals working in web development, corporate communications, video production, app development, investor relations and live events.

Lorem Ipsum took on the challenge of taking Japanese manufacturer of watches, Seiko USA’s website which was absent of sales or software integration capabilities, and built a sales-drivensite using Shopify’s platform. As storytellers in a digital world, Lorem Ipsum’s goal in both the user experience and overall design was to ensure the product remained the ultimate focus while keeping with the brand’s aesthetic and transforming Seiko enthusiasts into paying customers. Their approach not only provided significant technical enhancements but also told the brand story with new and improved user experiences across all devices. Lorem Ipsum’s team of programmers created the Seiko Sync app, expanding the native Shopify features to create aunique consumer experience. For example, customizable filters allow users the option to searchfor products by technology, dial color, size and various other important consumer factors.

Their developers also created custom software, such as Shop Social, that enables enhanced capabilities beyond Shopify’s existing offerings, including a unique Instagram plug-in that integrated directly with the brand’s channel allowing for a continuous and curated feed of imagery.

By moving away from traditional marketing approaches and instead, utilizing social media and strategic retargeting tactics, Lorem Ipsum was able to drive traffic to Seiko’s U.S. page and increase sell-through. The customer management process was also customized while working closely with Seiko’s IT and fulfillment teams to create a cohesive system of applications and notifications to give Seikobetter sales and product functionality insights; ultimately, allowing Seiko to better understand end-users’ likes and dislikes in order to create content accordingly to engage users and improvethe overall purchase process.

Skyfall

Following the announcement of lyricist and producer Pell’s highly-anticipated 13-track album, ‘Gravity’, due out 6/21, the Payday Records signee unveils an infectious new hit entitled, ‘Skyfall’, featuring Ambré Perkins, Malik Ninety Five, and Icon.

The NOLA-bred artists linked up with producers Faux Delorean in their studio in New Orleans to create ‘Skyfall,’ an ode to their hometown. The record stands to celebrate New Orleans cultural diversity the city is known for.

‘Skyfall was created with New Orleans in mind. For me, it represents not forgetting your roots. It’s a big deal to me to be able to help show how diverse New Orleans artists are and these are definitely some of my favorite by far. Faux Delorean (the producers) Ambré, Malik and I were in the same studio session and Ambré started singing the hook and it just felt good. I sent the song to Icon later and when she sent it back my eyes watered it was so good,’ says Pell on ”Skyfall.’

Drawing inspiration from two of his previous project covers, ‘Gravity’ proves an inevitable gravitational return to Pell’s New Orleans roots, proving his new album serves as the final installment of his trio series of releases including his previous projects ‘Floating While Dreaming’ mixtape (2014) and ‘LIMBO’ EP (2015). Pell describes his album as his journey to self-discovery and of  his exponential growth as a human since his last musical release. The project is used as a therapeutic outlet for the artist, displaying a significant vulnerable and very authentic side of Pell.

Pell linked with NGHTMRE for ‘Magic Hour’ EP, releasing through Mad Decent in June 2018. Co-produced by Pell, ‘Hear Me,’ was featured on Madden 19’s soundtrack. Rounding out 2018, Pell was featured on XXL’s What I Do, where the artist was praised for his skillful freestyle, along with accompanying Doja Cat on her Amala Tour. Recently, Pell shared the stage with Brasstracks on their Vibrant Spring Tour alongside Kemba and was featured on their recent track ‘Vibrant’ from their latest project. He also recently linked with Great Good Fine Ok for their latest single ‘Terrified’.

ROCKETMAN “(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again”

The video for ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’, a brand-new song written especially for ROCKETMAN by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and performed by Elton and Taron Egerton, has today been unveiled. The glorious visuals give a vivid snapshot into Elton’s career, taking shots of Taron in the epic musical fantasy ROCKETMAN, intercut with archive live footage, 70’s psychedelic animation, iconic album artwork and gig posters to transport you back to his hedonistic heyday. Directed by Los Angeles artist Kii Arens, the video is a perfect accompaniment to the gloriously uptempo, soulful stomper of a track, which plays over the movie’s credits. The song is taken from ‘Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture’ (out now on Interscope Records), which sees celebrated producer and composer Giles Martin re-interpreting and re-imagining Elton’s iconic hits, tailoring the music specifically to support the narrative of the major motion picture, with a truly show stopping vocal performance from ROCKETMAN lead actor Taron Egerton. ‘(I’m Gonna) Love Me Again’ is co-produced by Giles Martin and Greg Kurstin. ‘Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture’ is available now.

Tasked with taking Elton’s unparalleled back catalogue and reimagining it to fit the film’s narrative, ‘Rocketman: Music From The Motion Picture’ producer Giles Martin worked closely with the filmmakers, supervising all of the music for the production and pulling a vocal masterclass from Taron in the studio. From transforming ‘Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting’ into an epic ensemble piece, to morphing ‘I Want Love’ into a heart-breaking moment of conflict around little Reggie’s family meal, each track has been sculpted to form a unique part of the narrative of this most incredible of stories.
