Cate Blanchett x Sparks via 360 MAGAZINE

Cate Blanchett x Sparks

“We met Cate Blanchett in Paris at the Awards last year”, say Ron and Russell Mael, “little knowing that a year later, one of the great actors of our time (and a splendid person!) would graciously consent to lending her bootie-shaking skills to the first video from our new album, The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte.” Dreams really do come true. “We will sleep well tonight knowing that forever we can say we co-starred in a film with Cate Blanchett

The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte marks Sparks’ first release on the venerable Island Records label in close to five decades, following such classics as 1974 landmark Kimono My House, highlighted of course by the indelible hit single, This Town Ain’t Big Enough For Both Of Us. Described by Ron and Russell Mael as a record that is “as bold and uncompromising as anything we did back then, or for that matter, anytime throughout our career.” The album includes such instantly intriguing new musical vignettes as Mona Lisa’s Packing, Leaving Late Tonight, and Nothing Is As Good As They Say It Is; songs which once again display Sparks’ seemingly ceaseless ability to craft complete, intricately detailed stories within perfect three-and-a-half minute pop earworms. Both characteristically timeless and unequivocally modern, The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte once again affirms that after more than a half-century making masterpieces, Sparks remain inimitable, ingenious, and as ever, utterly one of a kind.

Sparks will celebrate The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte and much more with an extensive world tour that sees the band playing some of the biggest venues of their incredible career, with highlights including a pair of sold-out headline shows at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall (May 29 and 30). The North American leg of Sparks Tour 2023 gets underway Tuesday, June 27 at New York City’s Beacon Theatre and then culminates with the biggest headline show of Sparks’ more than fifty-year career, taking place Sunday, July 16 at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl in their beloved hometown of Los Angeles, CA. Hollywood Bowl subscription packages are available now at www.hollywoodbowl.com. Create Your Own Packages go on sale Tuesday, March 14 at 10:00 am (PT). Sparks Fan Club presales begin Tuesday, April 25 at 10:00 am (PT). Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. No Twilight Too Mighty via 360 MAGAZINE

LYNETTE YIADOM-BOAKYE

  • Dates: March 31 to September 10, 2023
  • Curator: Lekha Hileman Waitoller

Celebrated for her paintings of timeless subjects in everyday moments of happiness, comradery, and solitude, Yiadom-Boakye’s lush oils portray fictitious characters rendered in loose brushwork set against dramatic backgrounds.

The artist’s parallel practice of writing is visible in the poetic and thought-provoking titles that accompany the artworks acting as companions rather than explanations of the works.

Details including clothing or costumes, footwear or the lack thereof dislocate the figures from any particular time or place

The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presents Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. No Twilight Too Mighty, an exhibition that shows for the first time a selection of over 60 paintings and charcoal drawings created between 2020 and 2023 by artist and writer Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. The show thus provides a rich opportunity to observe the continuum in the artist’s practice of creating evocative paintings that relate to the human experience. Yiadom-Boakye has recently returned to making charcoal drawings, which have a sense of immediacy given their intimate scale and air of improvisation. Seen in tandem with the paintings, the depth of the artist’s skillful handling of different media is evident.

Anella Herim via 360 MAGAZINE

Anella Herim | “Tequila”

Anella Herim, the 21 year-old North Carolina born and raised singer-songwriter whose major label career has taken flight in less than 12 months, drops his brand new single “Tequila” available today via Def Jam Recordings“Tequila” builds on the momentum of Anella’s first two Def Jam releases, “In A Mood” (November 2022); and Let’s Be Honest” featuring Brooklyn rapper 26AR (January).

ABOUT ANELLA HERIM:

Singer, songwriter, rapper Anella Herim was raised in Trinity, North Carolina, where he was born on Nov. 22, 2001.  His father worked in the church as the worship leader and with his encouragement, Anella started playing drums at age four.  By the time he entered his freshman year of high school, Anella had joined the chorus and discovered the GarageBand app.  He began recording his own music at home using just his iPhone and headphones.  Working a typical job was unfulfilling to the emerging young artist, so he started turning his talent into income by playing at local bars and restaurants.

In early 2020, while playing at the Boxbar Arcade in Greensboro, Anella was approached by Malik Clark of Definitely Out Grinding Records (D.O.G Records).  By July, Malik had signed up Anella to perform at the No Stress Fest in Winston-Salem.  There he first met DJ ESudd, and the two started working together soon after.  “I feel Anella is a breath of fresh air to the world,” said DJ ESudd.  “Not only is the music soul touching but his personality is also amazing.”

At least 90% of Anella’s music is self-produced, but he has also worked on records with mega producer D.A. Got That Dope.  “My music is relatable,” says Anella, “pleasing and at times, it can be indescribable. I just want to touch people with my music.” Anella, who partnered with Def Jam Recordings in June 2022, is now doing music full time.  But he also enjoys hanging out with friends, who are part of his creative process, and traveling especially when it is to perform for fans.  With his undeniable talent, insane work ethic, and a solid team around him, Anella Herim is ready to take on the world.

Lindsey Jacobellis on Stress Relief

S-T-R-E-S-S-!

It’s keeping more of us on edge during the day and awake at night here in the U.S. than ever before, according to several recent studies. Odds are you are feeling some level of stress  right now.

Some stress is an expected part of normal adult life and actually has some positive value. It gets us up and out of bed in the morning and “adulting” – taking care of family, work, and other responsibilities. But an unreasonable, unrelenting amount of stress can be withering – mentally and physically – and wreak havoc long term on our emotional wellbeing and overall health.

So what can we do to find a healthier balance in our lives? RESCUE Remedy®, the world’s No.1 Stress & Sleep support brand, turned to one of our own loyal fans who knows a thing or two about stress – two-time U.S. Olympic Gold Medal Snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis, the winningest snowboard cross athlete alive. Over the past 20 years, Jacobellis has competed in five Olympics and has also won 1 silver medal and is a 6-time world champion and 10-time X Games gold medalist.

Jacobellis shares perspective and tips on how she navigates the stress of slippery slopes and everyday life.

  1. What is the most stressful time of the day for you?

I would say the late afternoon and evening are my most stressful times of the day. That’s when I am thinking ahead to what needs to be accomplished in the next day, week, month and beyond.

  1. What are the top 2-3 everyday stressors that you experience?

Like most people, I stress about my work goals and my financial future. As an athlete who is still actively competing, I also worry about my long-term health.

  1. Who do you turn to for support when you are stressed?

Friends and family provide so much support for me, whether I am competing or training.

  1. Does stress affect your sleep?

If I am overwhelmed with priorities and tasks, my daytime stress can easily spill over into my sleep. I need to be able to clear my mind so I can get the rest I need for the next day ahead.

  1. What are your tried-and-true tips for managing stress?
    • Talk it out. I have found that talking out the moments in life that are stressful can usually generate solutions. But if I am mentally blocked, I can’t always see solutions. An “outsider” with a fresh perspective can be very helpful.
    • Change up your routine. Sometimes you need space to find perspective about a stressful situation. Exercise always works for me. Sometimes I just need to find time for myself to think and then I can refocus to accomplish what needs to get finished.
    • Support other women. I think it is very important for women to be there for one another and support each other. From my personal experience, it is very common for women not to make themselves a priority because they have so many other responsibilities, especially within a family dynamic. Just helping a woman notice she is not even making herself a priority is the first step. Carving out time for herself will directly impact her overall health and that can translate into her family’s overall health. There is a balance with life and that shifts all the time.  Women need to be there for one another always.
    • Look into therapy. I have found professional therapy to be helpful. It’s always okay to not be okay and to ask for help.
    • Use RESCUE Remedy® for natural stress relief. I love this product for its natural homeopathic properties. That’s what sold me.I have been a professional athlete for over two decades. At this level, I am always responsible for what I put into my body, as I can be drug tested at any moment. Knowing every ingredient and researching products is vital for sustaining myself and complying with U.S. Anti-Doping regulations. I use RESCUE Remedy® to help reduce stress and get to sleep.

Jacobellis uses the RESCUE Remedy® Stress Dropper in the familiar yellow box and bottle. It’s a must have in the globetrotting athlete’s travel bag and bedside table.

“I find myself reaching for Rescue®, when I have several things going on all at once: travel, training, or work deadlines.  Also, right before bed is a very ideal time for me to take RESCUE®. It helps me relax and get a good night’s rest so I can be more efficient the next day,” she said.

Like many RESCUE® fans, Jacobellis discovered the brand while researching stress relief for her four-legged canine friend, Gidget. Pets get stressed, too. Ask any pet lover and they’ll tell you their pet’s stress raises their stress level, too.

“Gidget was always very stressed during thunderstorms, and a vet recommended RESCUE Remedy® Pet. I was not even aware that RESCUE Remedy also has a product for use by people. At the time I was more focused on what it did for my dog,” said Jacobellis.

“At the first sign of a storm I would put a few drops on her tongue. As a result, her anxiety would be greatly reduced.  This would inadvertently reduce my stress, knowing she was more comfortable. I wanted the best for my dog and her overall health was very important to me,” she said.

While maintaining a busy competition and training schedule, Jacobellis also lives her advice for women supporting other women as the inspirational leader and mentor for the Super Girl Pro Series to encourage up-and-coming female athletes and snowboarders.

“It is important for me to support the next generation of action sport females. I had so many struggles as a female athlete in a male dominated sport, and it took me years to earn the respect of the men in my field. I want younger athletes to look up to me and learn how to grow in the sport as well as individuals.  Making an environment that supports the younger women in snowboarding provides more diversity in the sport, and, therefore, we can all grow from each other’s experiences and create lifelong friendships,” said Jacobellis.
