DABABY – FIND MY WAY

Hip hop’s newest star, DaBaby (South Coast Music Group/Interscope Records) presents his first solo offering of 2020 with the release of his newest single, “Find My Way.” The single showcases DaBaby’s versatility as the artist shifts between his signature bass-filled flow and a raw melodic hook across the DJ Kid-produced beat. Accompanying the song is a 10-minute short, directed by Reel Goats. Starring both DaBaby and influencer, BSimone, the visual follows the pair as they attempt to secure finances for the rapper’s ailing grandmother, by any means necessary. After posing the ominous question, “Have you ever seen somebody turn into a monster for a good cause?” the film then briefly transitions to music video form. The suspenseful short showcases DaBaby’s acting skills and teases a sequel for fans who will inevitably be left wanting more. Check out the video HERE

Punchy, punk-tinged pop flows effortlessly from the 23-year old’s fingertips. In just 3 years the highlighter-haired polymath has topped global charts with her incredible scream along hooks (who could forget earworm “I’m chasing high high high highs”) and irresistible melodies. “Chasing Highs” and “Karma” in particular reached Platinum status with “Dye My Hair” going Gold. She has written for the likes of Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray, Charli XCX, Tove Lo to name a few. It just goes to show that she’s no stranger to a hit – and certainly triumphs again with this one.

Everything but the stereotypical pop princess during that time ALMA has garnered fans the world over from Annie Mac and Miley Cyrus to Elton John and Dua Lipa who she worked with last summer in LA. Live she has toured extensively bringing punk and pop together in a not to be missed show that assaults all the senses. ALMA has just finished her month long tour with Tove Lo across the US.

A unique and talented writer ALMA is leading the charge on a new wave of female powerhouses that have something to say through their music. Engaged, forward thinking and opinionated she addresses issues from women’s rights to body positivity to sexuality to depression, drug use and anxiety head on. Notably, she recently co-wrote two songs on Miley Cyrus’ EP She Is Coming, including the female empowerment anthem ”Mother’s Daughter” and “Cattitude” ft. RuPaul as well as Charles Angel’s hit theme tune “Don’t Call Me Angel” which debuted at number thirteen on the Billboard Hot 100 chart becoming Grande’s 20th top 20 song, Cyrus’ 14th and Del Rey’s 3rd.

Now on the cusp of releasing her highly anticipated debut album, 2020 is set to be an exciting year for the Finnish powerhouse.

ORVILLE PECK – SUMMERTIME

Today, country artist Orville Peck has shared his new, self-produced track “Summertime” via Columbia Records. In tandem with the new song, Orville has also released the official video for “Summertime.” Directed by Drew Kirsch (Taylor Swift, John Legend) the video finds Orville, keeping within the cowboy way of life, traveling the distance, alone in a vast landscape. Listen to the song here and watch the video here

Says Orville, “I wrote this song a long time ago and to me, Summertime has a few different meanings. Summertime can be a season, a person, or a memory of a happier time that can be difficult to visit. We also wanted the video to focus around the idea of how we treat nature. Ultimately this is a song about biding your time and staying hopeful – even if it means missing something or someone.”

Orville first performed “Summertime” to an intimate, sold out crowd during a special, one-night only event at the Museum of Modern Art and again at a few tour dates before the tour was postponed. Orville then performed it for a larger audience on his livestreamed, at home concerts. Watch the livestreams here and here.

“Summertime” is the first new music Orville has shared since the release of his self-produced debut album, Pony, in March 2019. Ponyreleased to both fan and critical support alike, with positive reviews from The New Yorker, Billboard, Rolling Stone Country, The FADER, NPR and many more. Known for not only his musicianship but also his visuals and live show, Orville toured Ponyfor nearly a year. Although his current tour is postponed, Orville is slated to perform at Coachella and Stagecoach this fall, as well as open for Harry Styles at his “Harryween” MSG shows this Halloween, pending future outcome.

More new music and visuals will be released in the coming weeks; fans should visit his official website and socials for updates.

TOP MUSIC ORGANIZATIONS AND CHARITABLE FOUNDATIONS AND MORE MAKE MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE MUSICARES® COVID-19 RELIEF FUND

STARTED BY THE RECORDING ACADEMY® AND MUSICARES®, THE FUND PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR MUSIC CREATORS AND INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AFFECTED BY THE PANDEMIC

Music industry associations, including the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences®, and the Country Music Association; ticket marketplace StubHub; record label conglomerates Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group; financial institution City National Bank; concert promotion, artist management, touring, and publishing company Bill Silva Entertainment; and charitable foundations and trusts including the Gross Family Foundation, George Harrison’s Material World Foundation, the Michael Jackson Estate, Alicia Keys’ She Is The Music foundation and the Yoshiki Foundation America are the latest organizations that have made major contributions to the COVID-19 Relief Fund established by the Recording Academy® and its affiliated charitable organization MusiCares®.

The MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund was created to help music people affected by the pandemic due to the cancellation of income-generating music events and other industry work opportunities. Since the fund’s establishment two weeks ago with initial seed donations of $1 million each by MusiCares and the Recording Academy, millions more have been raised with the support of numerous partners. However, more is needed to meet the demand.

“We are thrilled that so many in our community are coming forward to support each other and grateful for all the organizations who are standing in the gap for the music community, said Harvey Mason jr. Chair and Interim President/CEO of the Recording Academy. “The music community remains in desperate need and many are living day to day whether they are a gigging musician, sound engineer or event logistics person. The impacts of this virus are very real as many struggle to know where their next rent payment is coming from  or how next week’s groceries are going to be paid for, so our fund is there to help meet needs in a small way.”

Beyond the initial donations, all Recording Academy Chapters have committed to fundraising in their local communities. Additionally, the Recording Academy appealed to Congress to further protect musicians, performers, songwriters, and studio professionals such as self-employed gig workers who are impacted by cancellations due to the ongoing pandemic. The stimulus package has since passed, and includes key provisions and protections that will benefit countless music industry professionals who are struggling in the wake of Coronavirus.

With the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, music industry professionals, including artists, production crews, technicians, and anyone impacted by the loss of income due to live music event cancelations, can apply for basic living assistance.
