3 Important Reasons Why You MUST Invest In Motocross Boots

In the world of motocross, thrills are the name of the game. It’s the reason why people take up the sport at all. But alongside the high flying stunts, awesome speeds, thrilling turns and twists and all the fancy tricks comes a part of the motocross sport that is not at all pleasant, but remains simply unavoidable.

What are we referring to? Spills. Thrills and spills–that’s motocross.

That’s where motocross boots come into play. You may think that they’re only meant to protect feet (which is true), but that’s just not true.

There are other reasons why you must have high-quality motocross boots in your arsenal.

They Enhance The Look

You probably have a ton of images in your head of people posing with their bikes, fully clad in their extreme gear–including their boots. They look so cool, don’t they? They should, since gear nowadays is specially designed not only to be functional, but stylish as well.

If you are looking for a pair of dirt bike boots, be sure to find one that matches your bike’s design, as well as whatever other gear you may be wearing.

They Offer Great Protection

When you’re racing along rough dirt tracks, leaping off ramps, and slamming on the ground after being thrown several yards or meters into the air, you’re probably going to want all the parts of your body to be safely covered up and padded. Protection will ensure that you’re not in constant fear that the slightest mistake will cost you an arm and a leg—literally!

Also, bikers often use their feet to assist them when making sharp turns.

You’ve probably seen this before: a biker is nearing a turn, and instead of slamming down on the brakes to bring himself to a crawl, he slows down only a little. In this way, he can plant his foot down and use it as a sort of anchor that will allow him to swerve with more maneuverability than would otherwise be possible.

They may make it look easy, but that’s only possible because they are wearing proper protection–namely, a good pair of tough, sturdy dirt bike boots.

Boots will also protect your feet from minor impacts, cuts and abrasions if you have an accident. Because good quality boots are usually made from tough materials like leather, these can withstand a lot more beating than normal human skin can and act as the first line of defense for your feet and lower leg.

They Help Improve Performance

As mentioned above, a good pair of dirt bike boots will allow a rider to make much sharper turns. But, this is not the only way that this kind of gear can enhance one’s performance.

The soles of a good pair of boots are designed to give their wearer maximum traction, to ensure that their feet stay firmly planted on the foot pegs.

Modern boots are made to be as lightweight as possible, as not to hamper movement and balance. Finding a lightweight pair of boots allows you forget about them when having fun and getting your adrenaline rush on the dirt bike track.

For these reasons and many others, dirt bike boots are essential parts of the extreme biker’s gear.

Final Word

Motocross boots aren’t only meant for protecting your feet, though that’s their primary function. You can also customize your boots to suit your bike’s design for aesthetic purposes. With motocross boots, you can focus on the ride more since you will be assured that your feet are safe from the gnarly ground.

We hope you’re convinced why it makes sense to invest in a good pair of motocross boots.

DJ Tennis x Life and Death

DJ Tennis has spent the past decade molding Life and Death into an extension of his own multidimensional mind. Refusing to adhere to trends and maintaining a strictly DIY approach, the label and roving events brand has become one of the foremost tastemaking platforms among the electronic underground. Now, longtime followers and curious newcomers alike are offered a fresh glimpse into Life and Death’s psychedelic world via the launch of a brand new Twitch channel and partnership. The inaugural broadcast takes place on June 1, with new episodes aired everyday.

Life and Death TV adds a new dimension to the brand’s technicolor universe—and for the first time, giving us a glimpse of the world behind some of the most influential artists and collaborators—building upon the mission of its website launched last year to breed community connection. It’s as multifaceted in character as the brand itself; segments range from emo carpet tufting and psychedelic art creation sessions, to bike tours around the world, to charting the transformation of Robot Heart resident Benjamin Alexander from a DJ to Jamaica’s first Olympian skier. The channel even pays homage to left of center cuisine, with a deep dive on the art of cooking insects by renowned Mexican chefs Tomás Bermúdez and Sergio Meza—both of whom have Michelin star experience under their belts.

Music remains at the core of Life and Death, and its ethos of cutting edge curation radiates across its Twitch channel programming. Juba’s “Global Dancefloor” examines the African diaspora within dance music alongside model and artist Exocé Kasongo. Peruvian artist Umoid will be tufting a special Life and Death mural rug in her home country to her soundtrack of carefully curated electronica. Marvin & Guy’s Marcello Giordani heads up the “Master Program,” where the Italo Deviance founder will explore disco and Italo’s past & present from his 10,000+ vinyl collection. “Focus,” hosted by Portuguese maverick Mike Stellar, is a talk show pairing the finest Brazilian music with wine tasting. Inspired by his hiking expeditions in Los Angeles, Daron Sassounian digs into the city’s underground with a mixtape/visual series, “Between the Ridge,” meant to stimulate emotions, memories, and ideas within its listeners.

Psychedelia plays a large influence in both DJ Tennis and Life and Death’s sounds ad visions. To honor this, the label boss will host his own show dedicated to mind expanding music and equally out-there accompanying visuals. He’ll also show off his inner quirk via his dog Frida the Husky working on her treadmill and other surprises. Jazz aficionados will enjoy Life and Death’s weekly Virtual Fireplace, while those needing an afterparty soundtrack can tune into the channel each weekend for a selection of music paired with footage of cute and rare animals from Miami’s Canine 101 sanctuary.

The Life and Death crew has kept itself plenty busy of late, focusing on various community oriented projects including the launch of their website, storytelling blog, and cut & sew clothing line which has already seen collaborations with indie artists Father Akki and Tony Tafuro. Come December 4, the label will once again join with Innervisions to bring their iconic Art Basel bacchanale, Rakastella, back to Florida’s Historic Virginia Key.

With the launch of Life and Death TV, the label’s legacy of pushing creative boundaries across mediums and the world.

Joy Oladokun Releases Debut Album

Emerging singer, songwriter and musician Joy Oladokun will release her highly anticipated major label debut album, in defense of my own happiness, next Friday, June 4 via Amigo Records/Verve Forecast/Republic Records.

With in defense of my own happiness, Oladokun forges her own path, sharing the unique perspective she’s gained from living in today’s world as a black, queer woman and first-generation child of Nigerian immigrants. Born in Arizona and now living in Nashville, her musical exploration began at age ten when she was inspired to learn guitar after seeing a video of Tracy Chapman—the first time she’d ever seen a black woman play the instrument—and has since gone on to become “a fierce voice demanding equality” (NPR Music).

The new record builds on last year’s self-released album, in defense of my own happiness (the beginnings), and features 15 songs including two from the 2020 release—“sunday” and “breathe again”—as well as recently unveiled tracks, “sorry isn’t good enough,” “jordan,” “wish you the best” featuring Jensen McRae and “Bigger Man,” written and performed with Maren Morris. Of the collaboration, Billboard praises, “The gorgeous new single sees both artists stripped down to their emotional cores…stunning,” while American Songwriter declares, “the rising singer-songwriter proves her worth as a master storyteller” and The Tennessean hails, “any Nashville musician worth their salt should be pinching themselves to work with Oladokun, among the most exciting talents this city has seen in years.”

In celebration of the new music, Oladokun will perform a special full-band show at Nashville’s 3rd & Lindsley on Sunday, June 20 and will continue to tour throughout the year including performances at Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo and Austin City Limits as well as several dates supporting Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit.

Oladokun has continued to receive widespread attention in the past year, including recent performances of “breathe again” on NBC’s “TODAY” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” The song also received a key placement on NBC’s “This Is Us,” propelling the track to reach #3 on Shazam’s U.S. Top 200 while also charting globally. Additionally, Oladokun has been named a member of the inaugural #YouTubeBlack Voices Class of 2021, an NPR Music/Slingshot’s 2021 Artists to Watch, a Billboard LGBTQ Artist of the Month, Spotify’s RADAR US: Artists to Watch 2021, Amazon Music’s Artists to Watch 2021 and Vogue’s #1 New LGBTQ Artists to Listen to Now, and was recently highlighted as part of HULU’s “Your Attention Please: The Concert” alongside 24kGoldn, Kiana Ledé, Lil Yachty and Swae Lee. In addition to “This Is Us,” her music has also been featured on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” ABC’s “Station 19,” Showtime’s “The L Word” and MTV’s “Catfish.”

Disneyland x Sleeping Beauty Mosaic

Van Eaton Galleries, the Sherman Oaks based auction house specializing in Disney memorabilia and animation, and recognized authority on all things Disney, has announced that a Disneyland Sleeping Beauty Castle Mosaic (circa 1970s) has just sold for an astonishing final price at auction of $363,000. The original auction estimate was $30,000-$50,000. Van Eaton Galleries held the two-day “Rediscovering Disneyland” auction this weekend which represented one of the most significant and comprehensive collections of early Disney Theme Parks artifacts and Disney related memorabilia ever assembled with over 1,200 items.

The handcrafted mosaic that was part of the original Sleeping Beauty Castle before it was renovated in 1983. The massive, hand-crafted artwork consisting of hundreds of individual tiles features an image of Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip and is an actual piece of the Original Sleeping Beauty Castle. This wall mounted artwork was a prominent installation within the early years of Fantasyland and was removed around the time of the massive New Fantasyland refurbishment of 1983. The tiles remain set in their cement with original mesh wire backing. It is an original section of the walls of Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland and measures 36” x 44.” It is a true one-of-a-kind Disneyland relic.

Teddy Swims x Unlearning

After inciting excitement with millions of streams and critical acclaim this month, ace Atlanta singer/songwriter Teddy Swims releases his debut Unlearning EP today via Warner Records.

To celebrate the EP’s arrival, he just shared the music video for the opening track “L.I.F.E.”  The visual shows yet another side of the vocal dynamo on this standout song, co-written by mega-songwriters Poo Bear (Justin Bieber, Usher) and John Ryan (Maroon 5, John Legend). Speaking to the tranquility of the airy production, he sings alone in the desert as if channeling his surroundings into waves of emotion in every hook. Two women dance against a cool blue sky as his voice rings out with the affirmation, “That’s just life…nobody said it would be easy.”

Teddy paved the way for the EP last month with “Bed On Fire” and the incendiary music video that stars Leila George from TNT’s “Animal Kingdom.” Meanwhile, American Songwriter described the visual as “arresting” and crowned Teddy a “soulful powerhouse.” Unlearning also includes recent fan favorites “Broke” (feat. Thomas Rhett) and “Til I Change Your Mind.”  Full tracklisting below.

About the project, Teddy commented, “I wanted to enter into the world with my first body of work knowing the songs were the best they could be. I felt like everything fit together in terms of what I wanted to say. The title perfectly encapsulates 2020! We’ve all had to do a little introspection, break some bad habits, and figure out who we are again. There are some things we took for granted that, thanks to this Pandemic, we had to really open our eyes and do some unlearning!”

This summer, Teddy will support GRAMMY Award-winning country rock leaders Zac Brown Band on The Comeback Tour across North America. He joins the bill on August 5 in Holmdel, NJ at PNC Bank Arts Center and performs on nine dates through August 29 in Cincinnati, OH at Riverbend Music Center.

Teddy recently appeared on A Little Later With Lilly Singh (watch HERE) and delivered his late-night television debut performance with “Bed On Fire” on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (watch HERE). Teddy started out the year by being named a 2021 “Artist To Watch” by  Rolling Stone who praise “A boundaryless approach comes through in Dimsdale’s original songs, which blend elements of hip-hop, R&B, country, and classic soul.”  He also made his national television debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show with an unforgettable performance of his first release of the year “My Bad” (watch it HERE).

To have my producing partners Birdman and Chris Brown on the album as well is an honor. We’ve got legends and all of the people who are really popping right now on the track-list. It references those soundtracks we all grew up on that meant something from a generational standpoint. When you hear the music or watch the movie, I want you to feel embedded in the culture. I saw Do the Right thingLove and Basketball, and Above The Rim as a kid. We cherish those as national treasures now. That’s our goal.”

Birdman added, “I said to Nick, if we’re going to do this, we’ve got to do it as big as possible. As important as the movie was, the Soundtrack was just as important. We were able to put together some powerful records and collaborations worthy of this film. It takes everything to the next level.”

The movie and soundtrack represent a union between Nick Cannon who wrote, produced, and directed She Ball and Multi-Platinum icons Bryan ‘Birdman’ Williams & Chris Brown. Darren Criss x I Can’t Dance

Today, singer and songwriter Darren Criss releases his newest single, “I Can’t Dance,” via BMG.

This is the second in a series of new songs which Darren described as “character-driven singles.” He announced the track on Instagram earlier this week, writing, “Half masc, half fem, half bad bitch, half brazen baller. This song is an ode to both those we love to hate and those we hate to love. What can I say, I live for dualities.”

“I Can’t Dance” arrives on the heels of “f*kn around,” which Billboard described as “a slick alt-pop single built around a wiggly bass line.”  MTV News praised, “With synthy distortions and a banging guitar loop, the song echoes the sharper edges of contemporaries like Shawn Mendes and Justin Timberlake’s with a theatrical flair fans have come to expect from Criss.” Darren made his late-night television performance debut with the single on The Late Late Show with James Corden alongside Este Haim of HAIM on bass, The Pocket Queen on drums, frequent collaborator and San Fermin frontwoman Charlene Kaye on guitar, and the track’s co-writer CJ Baran on keys.

Music has always played an integral role in Darren’s artistry. As a solo artist, his 2017 EP Homework debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album chart. Criss has toured to sold-out audiences around the world including headlining the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Festival with multi-GRAMMY Award nominee and renowned DJ Steve Aoki. In 2019, he also headlined the Balmain Music Festival for the Balmain men’s spring 2020 show. He has been featured on the cover of numerous magazines including such music publications as Billboard and American Songwriter.

As a songwriter, Darren has penned songs for the comedy musical Royalties, for which he was also the creator and executive producer. He received his first Emmy nomination for songwriting in 2015 for Best Original Music and Lyrics for the song “This Time,” which appeared on Glee’s series finale. In addition to collaborations with fellow artists including Rufus Wainwright, Sabrina Carpenter, Bonnie McKee, Jordan Fisher, and many others, he has also written for Apple’s animated series “Central Park.”

Jex x 2 A.M.

Gathering 100 million streams on popular collaborations and earning acclaim from EDM.com and more, New Jersey electronic pop songstress Jex introduces a scorching signature style on her first solo single “2AM” today. It notably marks her official debut for Eddie O Entertainment/Casablanca Records.

The track rides a dance floor-tailored disco bounce and thick piano towards a powerhouse refrain. Jex’s vocals explode from intimate verses into a soaring nocturnal chorus.

Regarding the single, she commented, I tried to capture the personal experience of not being able to sleep, because you’re thinking about someone. I’m not in love with this person, but at that time of night, it sometimes feels like you are. This person is just on your mind.”

Jex has already moved listeners everywhere with a high-powered catalog of collaborations. However, she’s offering an escape in her solo material uplifted to the heavens by her seismic vocals. Right now, she’s preparing more music for release very soon.

Jex recognized her calling as a kid in a small South Jersey farm town outside of Philadelphia. Her father gigged regularly, and he brought Jex out on stage at a young age. She studied piano for twelve years and gained a deep understanding of theory. At the same time, she taught herself how to compose by listening to everyone from Lady Gaga, Sia, and Amy Winehouse to Boston and Foreigner. She dropped out of college and locked herself inside of her home studio. Her voice caught the attention of various producers, and she quietly emerged as an in-demand vocalist. In 2017, she initially teamed up with Humain for “My Way,” opening up the floodgates. She joined forces with Robin Hustin and Tobi Morrow on “Light It Up,” surpassing 27.8 million Spotify streams. She landed her biggest collaboration to date by fueling “Control” by Unknown Brain and Rival to over 42 million Spotify streams. Other bangers included Lost Sky’s “Where We Started,” posting up another 19 million Spotify streams.

Meanwhile, EDM.com described her collaboration with Leowi “These Days” as “a stunning dance ballad.” In 2020, she inked a publishing deal with Ultra Publishing. During 2021, she landed a deal with Eddie O Entertainment/Casablanca Records.
