Maserati MSG Racing

A challenging outing in Shanghai for Maserati MSG Racing

The Shanghai EPrix brought a return to permanent circuit racing, switching the focus firmly back onto energy management. Maserati MSG Racing started the day strong and with promise but were unable to convert their race strategy to points at the chequered flag due to failures with Pit Boost.

Both practice sessions showed the potential of the Maserati Tipo Folgore, with Jake Hughes and Stoffel Vandoorne finding the pace around the Shanghai International Circuit. Albeit qualifying not generating a duels appearance, both Jake and Stoffel made a step forward to start higher up the grid compared to recent races. Jake was unlucky to miss out on a duels appearance by hundredths of a second, settling for ninth on the grid.

Both drivers made a good start, managing the first few corners well to retain position. Stoffel was on an early Attack Mode strategy, taking his first four minutes in the early stages of the race. Starting higher up, Jake focused on getting track position before looking to take his first Attack.

Following suit from Tokyo, Stoffel was one of the first into the pit lane for his Pit Boost. The top twelve, including Jake, left their Pit Boost until the second wave towards the end of the Pit Boost window. Unfortunately, it was at this point the race got away from the team as both cars suffered a Pit Boost charger failure.

Maserati MSG Racing did everything they could to regain the lost positions, but energy consumption became critical. Jake and Stoffel took their last Attack Modes in the final few laps of the race, managing to climb up the grid, but there wasn’t quite enough time left in the race for either of them to get back in the points.

Tomorrow sees the second Shanghai EPrix, where Maserati MSG Racing will take the learnings from today to make steps forwards. The absence of Pit Boost will shift the race strategy on Sunday, and the team will focus on improving on their energy and tyre management to be in the fight for the race podium.

Driver Statements

Jake Hughes, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing: “In the end, what was looking like a very strong and positive day has ended on a flat note. We looked very quick through both free practice sessions, but when we came to qualifying, we had a similar issue to what we’ve been having lately with the new tyres and just couldn’t make the most of the grip. We qualified ninth which was better than lately, but I really feel like we had the car to challenge for more today. The race was looking very strong; I was leading at one point, cycling through the top three. There were some things that weren’t perfect in the race, but the main thing was we had a Pit Boost failure for the second race in a row. That put us at the back of the pack, and we went all in on getting up the grid, leading to us running out of energy on the last lap. When you’re put in this position with the pit stop, you have nothing to lose, but we do need to understand why this happened because it’s cost us today.”

Stoffel Vandoorne, Driver, Maserati MSG Racing: “That was a difficult race. We were going pretty good after the start; they took attack mode early, got to the lead of the race after a couple of laps, positioned ourselves in the right group before the Pit Boost. Unfortunately, it was the Pit Boost where it went wrong for us. We had an issue with the charger, and we lost a good number of seconds. This dropped us to last into no man’s land, and we had to completely change the strategy and approach. It was difficult to be efficient because we were alone on track and couldn’t benefit from the slip stream. I took the second Attack Mode late to try and recover some positions, finishing just outside of the points. Looking at it, we were only a couple of seconds from the podium, but the six seconds lost in the Pit Boost ultimately cost us points today.”

Cyril Blais, Team Principal, Maserati MSG Racing: “Disappointing day today overall, especially the race. We had a decent strategy for both cars, and we tried to push forward from qualifying. I think we were in the mix to score points with both cars, targeting the top six finish, but unfortunately, we had an issue on both cars in the Pit Boost, which cost us. After that, it was a little bit difficult to climb back into the points. We tried our best but couldn’t do better than the edge of the points. It’s not our day today, but I think the potential is there, which is a positive. We need to do better. Now we have our heads down and full focus on bringing home points from the race tomorrow.”

Maria Conti, Head of Maserati Corse: “We knew that the Shanghai double-header would be challenging.  Racing in China, where Formula E took its first steps, still produces very intense feelings. The team is taking home from today’s race a series of important lessons that make us even more aware, united, and focused towards our goals for the season. With Maserati’s centenary celebrations in racing on the horizon, we believe that the Shanghai double-header is an opportunity to enrich our racing history and connect with a new generation of motorsport fans. We will do our best tomorrow when we’ll be getting back on the starting grid to battle to be one of the best and to write another important chapter in the history – almost a century of it – of Maserati in racing all over the world.”

How Decades of Breeding Expertise Lead to Exceptional Cannabis Strains

Key Takeaways:

  • Decades of breeding expertise have refined cannabis strains for specific traits and purposes.
  • Understanding plant characteristics plays a critical role in breeding superior strains.
  • Advanced techniques continue to enhance the quality and diversity of cannabis varieties.
  • The future of cannabis cultivation promises exciting potential for new strain developments.

Introduction

The world of cannabis cultivation has come a long way, and it owes much of its advancement to decades of meticulous breeding expertise. This expertise has transformed cannabis from a wild plant into a sophisticated crop with numerous strains, each offering unique characteristics and benefits. Understanding the breeding process and recognizing the critical elements that contribute to exceptional cannabis strains provides insight into the plant’s evolution and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

Understanding Cannabis Genetics

Understanding the genes is crucial to developing exceptional strains. Cannabis plants have a complex genetic makeup that determines their characteristics, such as growth patterns, cannabinoid content, and resistance to pests and diseases. Breeding experts leverage this genetic knowledge to create strains that fulfill specific needs and preferences.

Like selecting the best seed bank for high-quality seeds, breeders seek precision and reliability in producing robust strains. Comprehending the interaction of genes and environmental factors allows breeders to manipulate desirable traits while curtailing less favorable ones, ultimately shaping plants that meet consumer demands.

Methods and Techniques in Breeding

Breeders employ various methods and techniques to achieve exceptional cannabis strains. Traditional crossbreeding involves selecting parent plants with desirable traits and cross-pollinating them to produce offspring with those targeted characteristics. This method requires persistence and multiple generations to hone and stabilize traits effectively.

In contrast, advanced techniques such as genetic mapping and marker-assisted selection provide rapid identification of specific gene markers associated with targeted traits, streamlining the breeding process. Implementing these innovations, breeders can refine strains more efficiently, ensuring higher-quality outcomes. Click here for an extensive overview.

Importance of Selective Breeding

Selective breeding plays a pivotal role in the development of superior cannabis strains. By choosing plants exhibiting specific characteristics, breeders amplify desired qualities across generations. This targeted approach results in consistent strains that deliver predictable traits, such as high yields, superior flavor profiles, or increased potency.

The selection process begins with identifying plants that resist common challenges, such as pests and environmental fluctuations. Daily breeding refines plant resilience, leading to robust strains that thrive across varied conditions. Selective breeding ultimately enhances crop viability and offers consumers products that meet specific taste and therapeutic preferences.

Role of Genetic Diversity

Genetic diversity is a fundamental aspect of cannabis breeding that supports the development of exceptional strains. A diverse gene pool offers a range of unique traits, enabling breeders to mix and match characteristics that cater to diverse market demands and regional growing conditions.

This diversity buffers against crop vulnerabilities, minimizing the risk of widespread damage due to diseases or pest infestations. By fostering genetic variation, breeders ensure the sustainability and resilience of cannabis crops globally. The broad palette of genetic traits also facilitates experimentation, enabling breeders to continuously push the boundaries and unveil innovative and exciting new strains.

Modern Breeding Technologies

Modern breeding technologies have revolutionized the cannabis industry, introducing precision and efficiency to the strain development process. Techniques such as tissue culture and micropropagation allow for the cloning of elite cannabis plants, ensuring genetic uniformity and stable inheritance of traits.

Additionally, advancements in genetic engineering and CRISPR technology have opened new avenues for manipulating cannabis genetics. These tools enable breeders to fine-tune specific genes, enhancing desirable traits while minimizing undesirable ones. With these cutting-edge technologies, breeders can create novel strains that address consumer needs and industry challenges more effectively. To know more about these advancements,

Conclusion

Decades of breeding expertise have significantly contributed to the evolution of cannabis strains, catering to a wide array of consumer preferences and agricultural requirements. By understanding cannabis genetics, employing advanced breeding methods, and embracing modern technologies, breeders continue to push the boundaries of possibility, crafting strains that delight and serve society in myriad ways. As the industry progresses, the promise of breeding expertise heralds a future where new and extraordinary cannabis strains are only limited by the imagination.

Cairns by Car: Chasing Sunsets and Secret Trails

Cairns isn’t just your entry point to the Great Barrier Reef—it’s an adventurer’s playground begging to be explored by car.

Winding coastal highways, lush rainforest backroads, and secret stretches of sand are all within reach when you take the wheel.

This article is your invitation to see Cairns differently—through epic road trips where every turn might reveal a hidden lookout or an untouched trail.

We’ll share the best spots for chasing sunsets, point you toward lesser-known bushwalks, and help you uncover local gems that rarely make it onto tourist maps.

Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, Cairns by car promises discoveries at every mile marker.

Getting Started: The Freedom of Exploring Cairns by Car

There’s a reason road trips are the best way to discover Far North Queensland—Cairns was made for exploring on four wheels.

With your own car, you’re not locked into rigid tour schedules or crowded shuttles. You set the pace, choosing when and where to pause for a photo, take an unexpected detour, or follow a tempting sign to a beach you’ve never heard of.

The region’s greatest treasures often hide just beyond the reach of public transport. Think secret rainforest trails, sleepy coastal villages, or that perfect lookout where the sun paints the sky every evening.

If you’re landing at Cairns airport, picking up a vehicle is quick and hassle-free thanks to the trusted car hire service at Cairns airport. Within minutes of touching down, you can be rolling out toward palm-fringed beaches or winding mountain roads.

Whether it’s your first visit or you’re rediscovering local favourites, having your own wheels opens up possibilities most travelers miss.

Pro Tip: Keep a flexible itinerary. Some of Cairns’ best moments happen when you take that unexpected turn off the main highway.

Key Takeaway: Hiring a car in Cairns isn’t just convenient—it’s your ticket to true adventure and freedom across this vibrant region.

Top Sunset Spots Near Cairns: Where the Sky Comes Alive

Cairns isn’t just about reef adventures—its sunsets are legendary, painting the sky with fiery oranges, pinks, and purples.

From iconic esplanades to secluded beaches and rugged lookouts, this region spoils sunset chasers with options.

Let’s explore three standout locations where you can soak in the end of day magic—each offering a distinct vibe and unforgettable view.

Palm Cove Esplanade: Golden Hour by the Sea

As afternoon cools into evening, Palm Cove comes alive with families, couples, and solo travelers all drawn to its relaxed, palm-fringed foreshore.

The esplanade is lined with towering palms and inviting grassy spaces—the perfect setting for a picnic as the sun dips behind the mountains to the west.

Local cafés and restaurants spill out onto the sidewalk, offering front-row seats for beachfront dining at golden hour.

The gentle sound of waves mingles with laughter while pelicans glide across pastel skies.

Rex Lookout: Panoramic Coastal Views

If you crave panoramic drama, point your car north along Captain Cook Highway—Rex Lookout is a must-stop for anyone seeking wide-open vistas over the Coral Sea.

This roadside perch sits atop cliffs overlooking endless turquoise water and stretches of untouched coastline below.

Photographers love it for its unobstructed views; locals say it’s one of the most romantic spots around Cairns as twilight sets in.

The best colors hit about 20–30 minutes after actual sunset, so don’t rush away too soon.

Pack a light jacket (the wind picks up), bring your camera or phone tripod, and settle in as day gives way to night over one of Queensland’s most photogenic horizons.

Secret Sunset Trails: Hidden Gems Worth the Drive

If solitude is what you’re chasing, Cairns delivers plenty of lesser-known sunset escapes—often just a short drive off main tourist routes.

Ellis Beach at Sunset, highlighted in recent adventure guides, is a standout. Local hikers and photographers love its quiet sands and unobstructed views—ideal for anyone who wants that peaceful “just us” moment as dusk falls. You’ll find parking nearby and often have plenty of space to yourself even in peak season.

Another local tip? Head inland toward Lake Morris Road. As you climb through rainforest switchbacks above Cairns, lookout pull-offs offer fleeting but magical sunset glimpses through treetops—perfect for quick photo stops on your way back from a day exploring the Tablelands or waterfalls nearby.

Secret Trails and Scenic Drives: Cairns’ Best-Kept Outdoor Adventures

There’s more to Cairns than coral reefs and tropical rainforests. The real magic happens when you take the road less travelled—discovering scenic drives and secluded trails that most visitors never find.

Cairns’ hinterland is a playground for explorers, with winding roads leading to mountain villages, lush valleys, and hidden waterholes. These routes offer a refreshing change from the crowds, immersing you in the region’s untamed beauty.

If your ideal adventure involves rainforest canopies, the sound of cascading waterfalls, or steering down remote 4WD tracks, Cairns delivers. Let’s dig into some local favourites that promise unforgettable detours off the tourist trail.

Kuranda Range Road: Rainforest Drive to a Mountain Village

The Kuranda Range Road is a rite of passage for road-trippers in Far North Queensland. This twisting drive cuts through ancient rainforest, treating you to misty gullies and glimpses of distant coastline.

As you climb towards Kuranda, pause at viewpoints like Henry Ross Lookout—perfect for stretching your legs and snapping photos. The air gets cooler as you ascend, and the forest grows denser around each bend.

Your destination is Kuranda village: quirky markets, street performers, and rainforest walks await. Don’t miss a stroll through the butterfly sanctuary or a coffee at one of the treehouse-style cafés.

Crystal Cascades: A Local’s Swimming Hole

Nestled in Redlynch Valley just west of Cairns, Crystal Cascades is where locals go to cool off when the heat kicks in. Follow the short walking track along Freshwater Creek to discover crystal-clear pools shaded by towering trees.

The water here stays refreshingly cool year-round—a welcome treat after a morning hike or drive. Families love this spot for its easy access and gentle pools, while braver souls test their nerve on natural rock slides further upstream.

Visit early on weekdays for fewer crowds. Always check signage before swimming—water levels can change quickly after rain. Pack snacks and relax by the creek for an authentic taste of Cairns outdoor culture.

Making the Most of Your Cairns Road Trip: Practical Tips and Local Insights

The real magic of a Cairns road trip lies in the details—knowing when to stop, what to pack, and how to tune in to local rhythms.

It’s not just about covering ground. It’s about making each kilometer count, from planning around the tropical weather to seeking out quirky roadside stalls or quiet picnic spots.

Local insights can turn a good journey into an unforgettable one. Whether you’re dodging summer storms or sampling pineapple at a roadside shack, embracing the pace and unpredictability of Far North Queensland is key.

Weather, Wildlife, and Road Conditions: What to Know Before You Go

Cairns’ tropical climate demands a little extra planning before you set off on your road trip.

The wet season (December to April) brings heavy downpours that can flood roads and create slippery conditions. Always check weather forecasts before heading out and avoid isolated tracks after rain.

Kangaroos, cassowaries, and even wild pigs are known to cross rural roads—especially at dawn or dusk. Slow down in wildlife zones and keep an eye out for signage alerting you to local hazards.

Potholes and unexpected gravel sections can appear quickly on scenic drives. Spare tyre? Check. Emergency kit? Don’t leave home without it.

Pro Tip: Download offline maps—mobile reception fades fast in remote areas outside Cairns city limits.

Local Eats and Roadside Culture

No Cairns adventure is complete without pulling over for a taste of regional Australia. Roadside fruit stalls—stocked with mangoes, lychees, or bananas depending on the season—dot the highways north toward Port Douglas or south to Babinda.

A classic Aussie bakery isn’t just about pies—it’s about joining the morning queue with locals for a coffee and fresh lamingtons. Many family-run bakeries have served generations of travelers along these routes.

If you spot a sign for “fresh prawns” by the highway near Innisfail or Cardwell, pull over. You won’t regret it—and you might even hear a few fishing stories from the folks behind the counter.

Pro Tip: Bring cash; many small vendors don’t accept cards but offer unbeatable freshness straight from farm or sea.

Respecting Country: Indigenous Heritage and Responsible Travel

Cairns sits on land rich with Indigenous history—a living culture that shapes every landscape you pass through on your journey.

It’s important to acknowledge traditional owners wherever you travel. Look for cultural markers or welcome signs as you drive into new areas, and take time to learn about their stories if information is available at lookouts or trailheads.

If you want genuine insight into local culture, consider joining Mandingalbay Ancient Indigenous Tours. These immersive experiences let visitors walk alongside Mandingalbay Yidinji guides on their ancestral lands near Cairns. Expect traditional welcomes, Dreamtime stories, and firsthand perspectives on caring for Country—all woven into an unforgettable outing.

Your respect helps sustain these communities—support Indigenous-led tours and buy local art where possible for a deeper connection with Far North Queensland’s past and future.
