Inspired by her love for classic 90’s fashion and beauty, Teyana worked alongside M·A·C to create her exclusive, multi-product collection- from the products, packaging, product names and even the photo shoot. “I was inspired by the 90s and the heart & soul of Harlem and wanted to show that through the shades and packaging,” Teyana said.

“As a longtime friend of the brand, we’ve grown to know and love Teyana for having a style unlike anyone else. She’s fierce, bold and unapologetically herself, no matter what she’s wearing – all qualities we stand for at M•A•C, and are so excited to bring to life through this new collaboration,” said Ukonwa Ojo, Global Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President, Global Marketing, M•A•C Cosmetics. As a dancer, choreographer, actress, model, fitness aficionado, songwriter, producer, director and now M·A·C’s newest collaborator, Teyana embodies artistry boldly, originally, and without boundaries. StaySolidRocky – Toxic

Breaking into the scene with his sing-song flow and eerie voice, StaySolidRocky is making milestones in such a short time. Taking a page out of the classic Mary Shelley novel, Rocky undertakes the creation of his lost love in “Toxic”, his new music video. Directed by Rock and Egg, the video follows the San Antonio native as he buries himself in his experiments to cope with his grief, developing a secret technique to reanimate the body of his dead lover. Watch the new video HERE.

“Toxic” comes on the heels of his certified gold hit “Party Girl”. Seamlessly switching between sinister slaps and emotional ballads, Rocky shows melodic range and buzzing honesty through each release. Ranking over 31 million views on YouTube, “Party Girl” continues to rise, breaking into the Billboard Hot 100 chart at #13, as well as reaching #1 on Soundcloud’s Global chart and Rolling Stone’s Breakthrough Artist chart.

About StaySolidRocky

19-year-old StaySolidRocky has made one of 2020’s breakthrough hits with “Party Girl.” Soaring past 66 million combined streams and debuting in the Billboard Top 100, the self-funded video single is the result of the Richmond, Virginia-based rapper putting it all on the line for his dream. Newly signed to Columbia Records, Rocky blends emotion and melody with skillful rapping. Evidenced in six-figure-streaming singles “Toxic” and “Soft Aggression,” his style is dynamic and unpredictable. “I don’t use a standard flow or try to recreate whatever I did on my last song,” he notes. “I make things that will sound good to the ear, and I always take pride in my lyrics.” Having used a combination of talent, social media, and belief in himself, Rocky already sees the outcome of his art—according to Rocky, “This is just the beginning”.

Vilnius Hot Air Balloons

Call from the Air: Vilnius Invites Visitors With Impressive Flight of Hot Air Balloons

The hospitality professionals of the Lithuanian capital flew over the city in a hot air balloon carrying the message “Vilnius is calling”. They chose this original way to spread the word that the city is finally opening after months of quarantine. Vilnius is one of the few capitals in Europe featuring hot air balloon flights over the city. It is also recognized as one of the safest holiday destinations for a memorable post-pandemic trip.

The representatives of museums, guides, tour operators and hospitality professionals together with the mayor Remigijus Šimašius flew in a hot air balloon over the city, inviting the soon-to-come visitors to enjoy the summer in Vilnius. Their balloon carried an inviting message “Vilnius is calling.” The flight of tourism representatives coincided with the very first hot air balloon competition after the COVID-19 pandemic. Dozens of hot air balloons were a symbol of the perseverance of the tourism industry, which is starting up again with the help and support of the local people.

The balloon flight over the UNESCO-listed Old Town is one of the greatest attractions for tourists as well as for locals. Balloon flights over the city are possible only in a few other European capitals.

“During the last few decades hot air balloons have become an important part of the city life,” says Mr. Šimašius. “They never stop exciting not only their passengers, but also people on the ground. Passers-by stop in the streets to watch balloons and point them out to each other and to their children.” According to the mayor, hot air balloons were chosen as a sign of hope and strength of Vilnius facing the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the strict health requirements, the city feels confident to open up for visitors and looks forward to another vibrant summer season.

Travellers from 26 countries are presently allowed to visit Lithuania without being subjected to 2 weeks of self-isolation. This “safe list” of countries includes Germany, Poland, France, Italy, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Malta, and Spain. The renewal of international flights and the end of the quarantine regime next week provide even more possibilities to spend holidays in Vilnius, for which the tourism industry of the city has been preparing all along.

“It’s wonderful that we can finally invite visitors to Vilnius,” said Milda Ivanauskienė, the director of MO museum featuring contemporary art. “For this season we are opening an exhibition of the BAFTA winner director Peter Greenway and his wife, multimedia artist Saskia Boddeke. We are also continuing the exhibition of the legendary director Jonas Mekas, whose works feature John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Elvis Presley and the Kennedy couple among others. It is a great time to discover Vilnius as the center of art and culture.”

Ms. Ivanauskienė was one of the guests on board of several “Vilnius is calling” hot air balloons. As was Narimantas Miežys, the director of wine bar Somm. He invited the visitors to enjoy the café culture of the Lithuanian capital. Recently, the city gave over a large part of its public spaces to local bars and cafés, becoming one huge open-air-café.

“The culture of street cafés is flourishing in Vilnius,” commented Mr. Miežys. “As soon as quarantine measures were relaxed, people came back to their favourite outdoor spaces. It is difficult to resist the temptation to have a glass of wine in the Old Town on a warm summer night.”

Having successfully contained the spread of COVID-19, Vilnius is also one of the safest destinations this summer. Compared to most European countries, Lithuania had 20 times fewer people infected by the COVID-19 and the country’s hospitals were never overwhelmed during the pandemic. The European Best Destinations organization listed Vilnius among the 20 safest cities to travel, finding it “twice as safe as most European capitals.”

Some safety measures are still in place. Face masks are no longer mandatory yet still highly recommended in indoor public spaces, personal hygiene and disinfection procedures are required in shops and restaurants and people are asked to keep a safe distance at all times.

Rice University x Health Care Teamwork

Celebrating successes, admitting mistakes, and encouraging honest communication among employees are some of the steps health care leaders should take to improve teamwork during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new paper from researchers at Rice University.

Managing teamwork in the face of pandemic: evidence-based tips appears in a recent edition of BMJ Quality & Safety. The article offers evidence-based recommendations for promoting effective teamwork under stressful conditions, such as those facing health care providers in intensive care units and emergency rooms.

Eduardo Salas, chair in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Rice and one of the study’s authors, said there are many causes of stress at the individual, team and organizational levels that can negatively impact the performance of medical teams and compromise their quality of work. Thankfully, Salas said, there is a significant body of work on what teams can do to stay effective and mentally healthy during trying times.

“As we look toward the summer, we’re not yet sure what the numbers are going to look like for COVID-19,” Salas said. “It’s more important than ever for our health care teams to be prepared.”

The study identified seven tips to deal with stress teams may face, based on more than 30 years of studies of teams in various settings. They include:

  • Celebrate successes, big and small.
  • Have regular check-ins with team members and confirm that priorities and expectations are understood.
  • Acknowledge contributions of all people, including those behind the scenes.
  • Encourage team members to check in and support each other, particularly more experienced individuals helping those who are new to a job. Thank those who offer assistance.
  • Acknowledge areas in need of improvement and admit when you have questions. Thank individuals who admit mistakes or offer dissenting views.
  • Be a good listener and help team members address concerns with their own work groups.
  • Boost team resilience by anticipating and planning for stressful situations, activity surges and setbacks; identifying strategies that are not working; and apologizing for bad behavior under stress.

Salas noted that these tips are useful beyond health care.

“We’re very lucky that there is a field of research that can provide evidence-based tips on how to work better together, especially in stressful times,” Salas said. “We hope that these tips will be useful to all essential workers, including those in health care, during COVID-19.”

Scott Tannenbaum of the Group for Organizational Effectiveness was the study’s lead author. Allison Traylor, a doctoral industrial/organizational psychology student at Rice, and Eric Thomas of the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and the UTHealth-Memorial Hermann Center for Healthcare and Quality Safety were co-authors.

The research was partially supported by the Center for Clinical and Translational Sciences, which is funded by a National Institutes of Health Clinical and Translational Science Award from the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences. The work was also partially supported by National Science Foundation grants (1853528 and 1842894).

Coronavirus 2nd Wave

By Eamonn Burke

As states are beginning to reopen from the months-long quarantine due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus COVID-19, and summer approaches, hoards of people are going back in public in a largely relaxed manner in terms of the social distancing and protective measures. Restaurants, shops, and gyms such as Equinox are opening, and people are excited to get back to normal life. Another major source of the spread has been protests, as crowds gather in cities across the nation to fight racial injustices in the country. While most are seen wearing masks, the spatial proximity is still certainly cause for concern.

It should come as no surprise, then, that COVID cases have spiked in recent weeks. 19 states, mostly in the southern and western parts of the country, reported increases in average COVID cases in the past two weeks. Texas has been hit especially hard – hospitalizations have doubled since memorial day, and hit record highs for multiple days in a row. North Carolina and Florida have experienced similar peaks. The county judge in Houston is contemplating another stay at home order.

There is concern in the east as well, as New York Governor Andrew Cuomo warns against a comeback of the virus in response to a video of a large crowd of people in Manhattan with few masks in sight.

The stock market is reacting to these troubling signs, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average has plummeted, as has S&P and Nasdaq.

Recent projections put the U.S. at 130,000 total deaths by July 4, and over 100,000 more deaths by September. There is good news too – Dr. Anthony Fauci says that the progress in the search for a vaccine is promising, and we could have trials running by the end of this year.

Seven Ways Businesses Can Improve Digital Marketing with Social Media

The digital world is full of tools that can boost your marketing results, such as social media. Here are ways to improve digital marketing with social media.

The internet is one of the most powerful marketing tools available to business owners. Social media, in particular, holds a notable amount of potential for brands looking to increase their marketing capabilities.

Not sure where to start? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

Let’s take a look at everything you need to know about how to improve digital marketing for your brand through social media.

1. It’s Cost-Effective

Since social media accounts are free to create and use, there’s no reason not to take advantage of their utility. Most other forms of digital marketing come at a cost, and they can quickly add up over time (especially if you’re subscribed to multiple different monthly services).

Since you’ll be in charge of your own social media account, you control how much money you spend— even if it’s nothing at all.

Depending on how well you know your audience and what type of product or service you offer, you may choose to run social media ads. Utilizing these correctly is still a highly cost-effective practice that you can use to grow your business.

2. It Provides an Additional Avenue of Communication

In general, you’ll find that your audience is more likely to reach out to you if they have a higher number of ways to do so.

There’s nothing wrong with using phone or email as your primary method of communication with your audience. By allowing them to contact you directly on social media (even through direct messages), you can significantly increase your level of engagement with them.

Since social media is a far more personal platform than email, you can expect to receive messages that ask questions about your product or service, voice their opinion of your company itself, etc.

By acknowledging and responding to public comments, you’ll show the rest of your audience that you’re active on your platform and able to be easily interacted with. This will establish a more human element to your brand that will help people resonate with your company.

3. It’s Active 24/7

When you post something on social media, your audience has the opportunity to interact with it during all hours of the day and night. If you happen to have a business that functions internationally, this becomes even more important.

Additionally, people don’t always prioritize checking their email. However, the average person spends hours per week across every social media platform.

As your online following grows, you’ll reach a point where your audience is actively seeking out the posts that you make. So, posts they may have missed are able to be found on their own when they navigate to your page.

Combining social media with a traditional form of marketing (such as using brand vehicles for your company) can exponentially increase your audience’s awareness of your company.

4. Instant Access to Your Audience

As previously mentioned, it can take a bit to hear back from your audience if you were contacting them through email or other methods. Unfortunately, this can prove to be an issue if you happen to need a relatively quick response from them.

Social media gives you instant access to your audience as soon as you click ‘post,’ making it a great method to ask for feedback, make an announcement, etc.

Since every minute counts when optimizing business productivity, social media should be high on your list of priorities when researching better ways to engage with your customers.

5. Your Followers Will Share Your Content

One of the best attributes of social media when it comes to improving your company’s digital marketing practices is the chance that your audience will often share the content you post.

While there’s no guarantee that your shares will grow exponentially, even a handful of them can drastically increase the number of people that see your posts.

For instance, let’s assume you have 1,000 followers on Facebook for your brand. Since not everyone uses social media all the time, you average 200 to 300 views per post.

But, 10 people have decided to share your latest post, and five of those people have over 1,000 friends on Facebook. The total audience for your latest post has just grown exponentially by having someone else click a button.

In order to optimize your chance of having your content shared, it should be both accessible and engaging. Quick guides, reviews, etc. are great places to start. In the meantime, Hostinger is rated quite high if you’re ever in the mood to build your very own community.

6. You’ll Build a Community

Building a community won’t happen overnight, and it takes a notable amount of consistent effort on your part to do so. But, having a strong social following can exponentially increase the success of your brand.

One of the best ways to go about this is to consistently interact with your followers and show your appreciation for their engagement. Holding a giveaway that only your social media followers have access to, for example, is a great way for you to cultivate your brand’s community.

7. Increased SEO Value

It’s important to note that social media won’t directly boost your company’s website SEO. But, it can have a significant indirect impact on this metric.

You’re able to leverage your social following to link to specific pages on your company site. As more and more traffic reaches those pages, your Google ranking will also begin to increase.

As long as you link to content that your followers are sure to be interested in, you’re unlikely to encounter any issues.

Understanding How to Improve Digital Marketing With Social Media Can Seem Difficult

But it doesn’t have to be.

With the above information about using social media to improve digital marketing in mind, you’ll be well on your way to taking full advantage of this strategy.

There are even the occasional cancellations, and thus availability of lodging in Glacier and Yellowstone.
