Ann Marie Signs with Interscope Records

Interscope Records and City Entertainment Group are excited to announce the signing of rising R&B singer-songwriter Ann Marie. Earlier this year, the Southside Chicago artist released Tripolar 2 which shot up to #3 on the Apple Music R&B charts. A secret triple threat, Ann Marie is “releasing some of the year’s best R&B” (Rolling Stone).

Speaking on her signing, Ann Marie says:I’m really excited to be joining the Interscope family, they love and are supportive of everything that I’ve built so far on my own. I’m just ready to go even harder and keep putting out amazing music.”

L-R: John Janick (CEO, Interscope Records), Baroline (Senior Director A&R, Interscope Records), Ann Marie, Mikkey Halsted (Manager, The City Group Entertainment), Nicole Wyskoarko (EVP Urban Operations Interscope Records), Joie Manda (EVP, Interscope Records).

“Ann Marie is the prototype for today’s artist,” said Nicole Wyskoarko, EVP Urban Operations Interscope Records.  “She’s developed and cultivated a dedicated fan base using the tools of today while understanding the pace and quality of product needed to succeed in the modern music landscape.  We’re excited to partner with Ann Marie and her team to bring her vision to the next level.”

Added Baroline, Senior Director A&R Interscope Records: “It’s an important time in music for women and Ann Marie is going to play a major role in creating the sound of now.  She’s a rare combination of singer/songwriter that speaks for a generation and whose sound is already resonating beyond her Chicago roots.  I’m thrilled to have gotten to know Ann Marie and that she’s chosen to partner with the staff at Interscope to bring her sound to the world.”

Ann Marie hails from Englewood, a neighbourhood on the South Side of Chicago. Releasing consistent bodies of work alongside her collaborative work, the 23 year old steadily built a legion of fans over the past three years. She hit it big with “Handle It,” which came off Tripolar, her third body of work following Unfuckwithable and her self-titled debut Ann Marie. The song went on to rack up over 10 Million plays on Apple Music. 2019 kicked off with a bang for Ann Marie with smash single “Secret,” on follow up project Tripolar 2. The slinky R&B track featured rapper YK Osiris and accumulated over 35 Million views on Youtube in less than 5 months. With her raw storytelling and honey-like tones, Ann Marie began to see her numbers grow. Now based out of Atlanta, the young artist has already accumulated over 700,000 subscribers on Youtube which landed her a spot on the platform’s Foundry Artists list (Youtube’s artist development program). Now celebrating over 100,000 streams per day on Apple Music, an additional 450k+ streams on Spotify, Ann Marie has earned her place as one of music’s most intriguing new artists.

X Ambassadors “Orion”

Multi-platinum selling rock band X Ambassadors released their new album ORION June 14th on KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records.  X Ambassadors worked with a crew of trusted producers among them Ricky Reed, Andrew Wells, Jayson DeZuzio,  and Rodney Jerkins, on their sophomore release. The band released “BOOM,” the first track off ORION in January and leading up to the new album gave fans a taste of what’s to come with the songs “HEY CHILD” and current single “HOLD YOU DOWN.”

X Ambassadors will perform album release shows in five cities (Boston, New York, Toronto, St. Louis and Chicago) where they will showcase new material from ORION plus fan favorites. The band recently announced a fall headline tour. For a complete list of tour dates, and to purchase tickets, visit  www.xambassadors.com.

X Ambassadors‘ debut platinum selling album VHS saw the band transition from Ithaca alt-rockers and Brooklyn indie scene outsiders, to Billboard stalwarts. The album was an intimate insight into Sam Harris and his brother Casey Harris’ youth studded with audio snippets from home movies, and early recording sessions and sound checks. With it, came the genre-defining hits “Unsteady” and “Renegades,” a three-year global touring odyssey and a string of high-profile festival performances. Harris’ songwriting became increasingly personal resulting in the shattering, shimmering 2018 singles “JOYFUL” and “Don’t Stay” followed by a North American headline tour. Always looking to give back to the community that raised them X Ambassadors returned to Ithaca for the second annual Cayuga Sound Festival this past September creating and curating two days of musical performances and raising money for local charities.  In 2019 X Ambassadors released “BOOM,” a quick-fire anthem for emphatic recovery and personal revolutions. The artwork for “BOOM” is written in Braille and designed in a yellow-on-black colorway. For Casey Harris, the band’s keyboardist and Sam Harris’ brother, who was born blind, it is the first physical manifestation of his work that he has been able to experience visually. He has just 10% of his vision.

Marvel Reveals the Future of the X-Men

Just a month before the highly-anticipated debut of HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X, Marvel released an all-new episode of X-MEN: THE SEMINAL MOMENTS featuring series writer Jonathan Hickman and other legendary Marvel creators as they shed light on what the future holds for mutants across the universe!

“When Jonathan set out to tell this story, he set out to change the way people think about the Marvel mutants forever…it really shakes things up,” said X-Men Editor Jordan D. White. “The first time he told it to me, I was upset. I was like, ‘We can’t do that. We CAN’T do that.’ The more I thought about it, the more I went, ‘Wait hang on, what if we did…’”

As HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X is set to shake the Marvel Universe to its core, Hickman revealed what fans might expect from the series:

“There’s no alternate universe version of the X-Men that we’re doing – time travel, or any of that kind of stuff. This is a very cause and effect, very linear narratively straightforward story,” said Hickman. “I think the most important thing about X-Men is obviously the way that individual readers identify with the characters…my obligation is to be true to the character even though you’re putting them in new circumstances and be true to the spirit of what it means to write an X-Men book.”

HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X – written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Marvel’s Young Gun Pepe Larraz, R.B. Silva, and colorist Marte Gracia – will build from every major X-Men milestone since 1963 up through the current X-Men series and storylines fans know and love, including some of Marvel’s most iconic characters from over the decades.

The next seminal moment in the history of the X-Men begins this July!

La Cosecha Latin market

La Cosecha , EDENS’ upcoming contemporary Latin market in the Union Market District, is thrilled to welcome three more culinary partners ahead of its grand opening this fall.

Local culinary star and entrepreneur Daniella Senior , known for her uber-popular Colada Shop , and her partner, renowned mixologist Juan Coronado, are among the second wave of partners being revealed as new additions to the La Cosecha landscape. The highly anticipated Latin market will soft open this summer at 1270 4 th Street NE, followed by a grand opening this fall featuring over a dozen businesses housed within more than 20,000 square feet of culinary, retail, entertainment and community space. The newly announced partners set to join the roster at the market are:

Serenata + Zumo: Colada Shop visionary Daniella Senior brings a dynamic dual concept to La Cosecha in the form of Serenata and Zumo, designed to highlight the rich flavors of Latin America. By day, Zumo will serve the freshest juices and delicious, picture-perfect toasts. When evening falls, Serenata’s selection of exquisite, elevated cocktails and snacks will come via a full-service Latino culinary experience featuring preeminent drinks sourced and inspired by the many countries that make up the fabric of the rich Latin American heritage.

La Casita: Chef Iris Veronica Jimenez and her family have been local mainstays for more than 30 years, starting out in 1984 with a market in Adams Morgan and building up to their present collection of beloved Salvadoran restaurants scattered throughout the D.C. metro area. Their upcoming La Casita outpost at La Cosecha will be a fast casual take on the traditional pupuseria, featuring elevated street food reminiscent of the fare available at a traditional large open market. The new La Casita’s cuisine is full of flavor, using the fresh, simple ingredients found at those same markets: corn, beans, rice, cheese and peppers. Café Unido: With eight cafes scattered throughout Panama, Café Unido brings its ethos of responsible sourcing and focus on both community and environment to D.C., launching its first stateside coffee shop at La Cosecha. Founders Benito Bermudez and Mario Castrellon, along with their experienced team of baristas and roasters, use beans from the best farms in Panama, including Panama Geisha – the highest priced coffee variety in the world – and other specialty Panamanian beans. Corporate responsibility is in the DNA of Café Unido and as such, they dedicate a percentage of sales to social and environmental projects in coffee-growing areas of Panama in an effort to create shared value between customers and local suppliers. This quartet of exciting new culinary experiences joins half a dozen existing partners, which were announced earlier this spring:

El Cielo: Internationally renowned chef Juan Manuel Barrientos will bring the second U.S. outpost of his luxury restaurants to D.C., following the first in Miami, and offering his innovative take on cuisine from his native Colombia.

Ali Pacha: Bolivia native Chef Sebastian Quiroga is behind the plant-based fine dining experience at Ali Pacha (meaning ‘the plant universe’ in the Aymara language), which was named one of the five most exciting Latin American restaurants to watch in 2019.

Amparo: Mexico-born, longtime D.C. local Christian Irabién – who discovered his love of fine dining while cooking with Chef José Andrés and Chef Cathal Armstrong – brings a modern-day take on Mexican cuisine alongside a mezcal-heavy beverage program to the market.

Grand Cata: Owners and co-founders, Puerto Rico-born Pedro J. Rodriguez and Chile native Julio Robledo, bring their new grocery-wine bar concept to La Cosecha featuring a curated selection of classic and sustainable natural wines from Latin America as well as artisanal gastronomic products from the region.

NOVA BOSSA: Brazil native Carolina Furukrona’s luxury lifestyle destination promotes artisanal, largely female-run brands from the Latin world across art and home décor, b ain couture , fashion accessories, handbags, jewelry and ready-to-wear.

Peruvian Brothers: Sibling duo Giuseppe and Mario Lanzone will open their first brick-and-mortar location, bringing their locally beloved Peruvian-style sandwiches, empanadas, desserts and hot sauces to the market. Meaning “the harvest” in Spanish, La Cosecha is an elevated, high-design market that will serve as a gathering spot for celebrating contemporary expressions of Latin culture through food, art, music, fashion, film, sport, travel and dance. The La Cosecha community will be comprised of artisans, businesses and entrepreneurs delivering authentic foods, flavors and craftsmanship to the nation’s capital. For more information, visit www.lacosechadc.com and follow @lacosechadc on Instagram and Twitter .

Building on the success of previous models, this Tambour Horizon collection boasts a new element of design, new materials and new colours, taking user experience, functions and technical innovation further than ever before.

New exclusive options allow you to personalise the dial with your chosen watch face. In the spirit of connected technology, time display is essentially digital. The digital mode is embellished with emblematic motifs – Monogram, Damier, or even with the V for Gaston-Louis Vuitton. These have all been entirely reworked, deconstructed, and broken down to create transparent effects and contrasts with the Monogram Flowers. The new colour palette, the contrasting bands and the option of adding your initials mean that an almost infinite number of aesthetic combinations are possible all in the image of the House. Special watch faces have been added to the existing collection, featuring the same strong design aesthetic typical of a Louis Vuitton runway show.

Embodying Louis Vuitton’s art of travel, the Tambour Horizon watch enriches the “My Travel” experience by grouping all of your travel information together in one place. The dedicated watch faces sync with your hotel, flight or train bookings, as well as your departure and arrival times. Before, during and at the end of your journey, all of your essential travel information is displayed so that you have it constantly on hand. And finding the address of a hotel, restaurant or tourist site has never been so easy thanks to the exclusive City Guide function, featuring 30 international destinations.

Across the rim, a new 24-hour ring with day/night indicator, visible even when the watch is in ambient mode, lets you view all your data at a glance. With its own watch face, the “Agenda” function separates meeting times from free time with distinctive coloured segments.

The “Step counter” function lets travellers who like to visit cities on foot record the distance treked and the most intensive periods of movement. Again, the watch face has a detailed design with the LV Archlight, the iconic Louis Vuitton sneaker, pictured at the centre.

The “Pollution” function displays the air quality index on the watch face in real time. Air quality projections are displayed in coloured segments. Weather and temperature forecasts put the finishing touches to the Tambour Horizon’s functions.

While the unisex case retains the emblematic Tambour Horizon shape and inverted curved case, the watch is now available in polished white ceramic. The use of this material in craftsmanship smart watchmaking is a true feat of technical excellence. In addition to new versions in polished steel, matte black PVD, white ceramic and white ceramic with gem-set horns, there is also a matte brown PVD model. This colour has been an integral part of Louis Vuitton’s aesthetic since 1854, used most prominently in the emblematic Monogram design.

Making the Tambour Horizon watch even more intuitive, the various functions are now accessed quickly and easily with a rotating crown that can be turned with a single finger. “Welcome To The West” 2nd Annual Festival

“Welcome To The West” Returns to Citizens Business Bank Arena for 2nd Annual Music Festival

Stage Tribute Planned to Honor Last Year’s Headliner Nipsey Hussle

After its sold-out inaugural year, Cabana Life Concerts is revving up for their second annual “Welcome To The West” music festival set for Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California on Friday, September 20, 2019, with tickets on sale to the public on June 7, 2019 available at http://thewestfestival.com.

The sophomore year continues to embody the full essence of being on the west coast; it is for the west, by the west, in the west.  Last year the event hit capacity after selling 5,500 tickets – a stellar achievement for a first-year festival.

It was just one year ago when Nipsey Hussle headlined the first ever “Welcome To The West” music festival.  After his tragic death in early 2019, producers are planning a main stage tribute in his memory stating, “It was truly an honor to have had such an inspirational and socially impactful artist play as our first headliner. We look forward to celebrating Nipsey Hussle’s legendary musicianship and remembering his positive influence on others, as the music community and beyond continue in mourning his passing.”

“Welcome To The West” exclusively embraces west coast culture and lifestyle.  Everything present at the festival is homegrown and strictly related to the west coast—this includes the lineup.  Every artist, product and vendor at this festival is from the west coast—it’s the only premium, all-inclusive west coast music experience on the market.  Ice Cube, Los Angeles resident, will be headlining the event. Other artists on the lineup include: Roddy Rich, Dom Kennedy, Too Short, DJ Quik, King Lil G,  and Malaynah, among others.

Cabana Life Concerts has been in operation for 3 years, hosting over 70 shows in that timeframe.  Cabana has worked with multiple arenas and nightclubs on both a domestic and international scale. They have worked with the likes of Gucci Mane and Ty Dolla $ign; if they’re in hip hop, Cabana Life has worked with them.

From legends past, present, and future, fans can catch them performing LIVE at the 2nd annual “Welcome To The West” Music Festival.  It’s more than music—it’s a brand, a culture, and a lifestyle.

Lacking Self-Discipline?

5 Ways To Develop It And Reach Your Goals

Americans are known to overeat, abuse credit cards, marinate for hours in social media, and break New Year’s resolutions before the end of January. Self-discipline doesn’t seem to be a national strength.

And achieving self-discipline – and the success that can come with it – may never have been harder than it is in this instant-gratification age, says Dr. Rob Carter III.

“Self-discipline is an undervalued trait in a modern society that wants everything now,” says Carter, co-author with his wife, Dr. Kirti Salwe Carter, of The Morning Mind: Use Your Brain to Master Your Day and Supercharge Your Life (www.themorningmind.com). “Self-discipline is the ability to motivate and coordinate our efforts to improve our quality of life, but unfortunately most people are not taught it.

“It is, however, a skill that everyone can learn. Self-discipline is the skill that will allow you to reach any goal you set.”

Carter offers five ways to develop self-discipline:

Be aware of your resistance. Resistance, Carter says, is the biggest obstacle to developing self-discipline, and it often comes in the form of discouraging internal self-talk such as, “I can’t do it” or “Why should I have to change?” “The next time you embark on a new project that causes resistance,” Carter says, “fight it by asserting or writing down your intended goal and the benefits it will bring.”

Plan for every outcome. Plans go awry when people let excuses get in the way. “An example is having a goal of running in the morning for 30 minutes, but you have bailouts such as it’s raining, cold, or you don’t feel like it,” Carter says. “Developing self-discipline is recognizing and planning for these self-created obstacles and actively choosing to work through them. So when you set a goal to achieve, have chart in place listing “Even ifs.” List the potential obstacles to achieving your goal and counter each one with a promise to yourself that you’ll achieve your goal even if these challenges arise.”

Prepare to give something up in order to gain. Carter suggests compiling a list of the pros and cons of sacrificing for a certain goal. “To reach your goal, Carter says, “you will more than likely have to impose certain limitations on yourself in order to gain something. These limitations could be less free time, socializing, money or television. The upside is that seeing the rewards of the sacrifice on the pros list will keep you motivated and disciplined.”

Reward yourself with self-compensation. “Rewards are an incredibly powerful tool for motivating yourself to reach your goals,” Carter says. “Consider them the carrot on the stick. Have a reward in place for when you achieve a goal or part of a goal, and make sure it’s appropriate.”

Break your goal down into manageable steps. “If you break your goal down into bite-sized steps,” Carter says, “you’re much more likely to stay disciplined enough to complete every sub-goal. Each step accomplished gives you an encouraging boost. Consider using SMART goals — specific, measurable, attractive, realistic, timed. This makes the goal more definitive and puts the steps in tangible action.”

“Self-discipline includes structured planning, organization, delayed gratification, and the willingness to step outside your comfort zone,” Carter says. “These things can appear scary, but don’t worry, you’re not alone. And once you take the first step, you have ventured onto a beautiful path that offers many rewards.”
