CMA WINNERS

Billy Ray Cyrus continues shattering records and racking up accolades as the Flatwoods, Kentucky singer/songwriter and global music icon wins the Country Music Association‘s Musical Event of the Year with Lil Nas X for “Old Town Road(Billy Ray Cyrus remix),” a song eliminated on country charts by Billboard critics for not “embracing enough elements of today’s country music.”

This is all on the on the heels of the song being certified diamond by the RIAA as Cyrus leads the pack for nominations as a country artist in the 2019 American Music Awards, yet none of the nods are in country categories. Cyrus is nominated in the all-genre Collaboration of the Year category, as well as Favorite Music Video, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song and Favorite Pop/Rock Song.

The CMA win follows a record-breaking year for Cyrus after he took home two MTV VMA Moonmen for Song of the Year and Best Direction, as well as two trophies at the BET Hip Hop Awards for Best Collab, Duo or Group and Single of the Year. The 2019 American Music Awards air November 24 on ABC.

The all-genre field is no stranger to Cyrus. In 1992, his first album, Some Gave All, debuted on the all-genre Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 and stayed there for a record-breaking 17 weeks.

Not only is “Old Town Road (Billy Ray Cyrus remix)” the first song of 2019 to gain the diamond recognition, it is the first in the RIAA’s history to meet the minimum requirement of 10,000,000 units sold so quickly.

DUBAI MARATHON

ALL EYES ON STANDARD CHARTERED DUBAI MARATHON AFTER FORMER WINNERS ARE CROWNED “WORLD’S BEST”

Following the crowning of Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon winners Lelisa Desisa and Ruth Chepngetich as Marathon Runners of the Year, all eyes will now turn to the 21st staging of the Middle East’s premier marathon on January 24 and the potential emergence of new running talent.

The 2019 ‘Best Marathon Runner’ award was made to both Desisa and Chepngetich by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) at the end of a year that saw them both add Marathon World Championship titles to their already impressive CVs.

But it was on the flat and fast streets of Dubai that Desisa of Ethiopia and Kenya’s rising star Chepngetich first made their marks in the record books – just two of a growing number of world-class distance runners to launch their careers in the emirate.

Making his marathon debut in Dubai in 2013, Desisa won in 2.04.45, while in January 2019 the diminutive Chepngetich produced one of the best women’s performances of all time as she stormed to victory in 2:17:08, now the fourth fastest in history.

“Over the past ten years or so, the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon has consistently produced race winning times that rival and often exceed the Marathon Majors,” said Event Director Peter Connerton.

“The city is now firmly recognised as hosting one of the fastest routes in world athletics. Established elite athletes as well as up-and-coming runners are always keen to take part in what is the first major event of the new year. With the benign weather conditions, excellent road surfaces and a flat course, the athletes know they can target a personal best and even a new course record in Dubai.”

While the Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon has been held in various parts of the city – with race routes that have included both the Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai – in recent years the race has settled on a home stretching out along the city’s Jumeirah Beach Road in the west with a finish in the shadow of the seven-star Burj Al Arab Hotel.

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the 2020 event is expected to see more than 30,000 runners sign up to take part.

The race – the 21st in the event’s history – will again see the runners compete in the same location with competitors spread across three races, namely a 4km Fun Run, the hugely-popular 10km and the traditional Marathon distance itself.

Entries are already building up as runners from home and abroad get set for the biggest mass participation sporting event in the region. Runners looking to sign up and take part in any of the three categories can do so online at www.dubaimarathon.org

In addition to Standard Chartered as title sponsor, the Dubai Marathon is supported by the Dubai Sports Council, adidas, Dubai Holding, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police and the RTA.

How to Successfully Complete a Home Design Project

If you are guilty of starting home design projects but never seeing them to completion, then you need to change your attitude and how you approach design projects. A kitchen or bathroom remodel won’t complete itself, after all.

Most people will admit to having various unfinished design projects in their home, but once it becomes a pattern and you never finish anything you start, it’s time to reconsider your thinking and take it on with a different angle.

Home design projects require commitment, dedication, and a whole lot of effort. If you come home from work exhausted, there is no question about why you don’t feel up to finishing that project.

If you want to change this, and often feel guilty about leaving projects uncompleted, then take on this advice.

  • Plan Before You Start

It can be tempting just to get stuck right in on a project and see where the flow takes you, but this approach will not see you through to the end.

Before you even pick up your tool kit, thoroughly plan what you are going to do. It’s crucial that you know where to start and where to pick up next time after you finish. It can be incredibly demotivating to try to pick up on the project a week or two later, only to be unsure of where you had left off the last time.

Planning will also give you a better overview of the project and whether you can feasibly complete it by yourself.

  • Set Goals

Motivation is vital for projects that will take some time. Set goals for yourself to achieve. Aim to have all of the kitchen cabinets installed within two weeks or have the bathroom plumbing installed and working by the end of the next.

Goals like this can help you to envision the end result and give you the boost of motivation you need to keep going.

  • Ask for Advice

Even if you have decided to take on a design project by yourself, there is no harm in asking family members, friends, or even expert designers for their advice on the project. To get the work done faster, you can also get help from experts for replacement windows.

If you are struggling with installation but have the design down, here’s a great resource: www.gkandb.com.

  • One at a Time

If a project isn’t going your way, it can be incredibly tempting to abandon it and start another, but these will simply leave many unfinished projects.

Make sure you finish a project to the best of your ability before you start working on something else. Having multiple ongoing projects at home can make it a more stressful environment, and you certainly won’t have the energy to work on them all. Before you start replacing the tiles in the bathroom, make sure you are happy with the kitchen first.

If you have a one project at a time rule, you will feel more encouraged to finish one design project so that you can get on with another.

Land Rover Release Exclusive Behind the Scenes Look at New James Bond Film – No Time To Die

The automaker’s new Defender faces its toughest test in the latest Bond movie, which releases in April 2020

Land Rover has put fans inside the New Defender on the set of No Time To Die, the 25th official James Bond film, in a teaser video released to announce its continued partnership with EON Productions.

Footage captured during filming of the upcoming movie gives a unique, behind-the-scenes view of stunt co-ordinator Lee Morrison and stunt driver Jess Hawkins at work.

No Time To Die is the first movie to feature the New Defender, the latest legendary vehicle to star in a James Bond car chase sequence. The New Defender has been tested by the 007 expert stunt team in the most extreme off-road conditions, demonstrating its unstoppable nature.

Lee Morrison, James Bond Stunt Co-ordinator, said:

“Designing and co-ordinating the action sequences for the Bond franchise requires a non-compromising mindset. We needed an unstoppable vehicle to help us battle against the elements, steep descents and river crossings so we chose the new Defender. I’m beyond impressed that the Defender is not only back but much, much better!”

The New Defender provides ground clearance of 291mm and world-class off-road geometry, giving the Defender 110 approach, breakover and departure angles of 38, 28 and 40 degrees (Off Road height) respectively. Its maximum wading depth of 900mm is supported by a new Wade programme in the Terrain Response 2 system, so drivers can ford deep water with complete confidence.

Britain’s biggest vehicle manufacturer has a long-standing partnership with EON Productions on the Bond films, which began in 1983 when a Range Rover Convertible appeared in Octopussy.

Alongside the Defenders, No Time To Die also features the Range Rover Sport SVR, Series III Land Rover and Range Rover Classic.

No Time To Die, is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and stars Daniel Craig, who returns for his fifth film as Ian Fleming’s James Bond 007. The film will be released globally in cinemas from April 2 2020 in the U.K. through Universal Pictures International and in the U.S on April 10, from Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios via their United Artists Releasing banner.

Leaving behind gender-normative pronouns and assumptions, Queer Cosmos explores more nuanced patterns of the archetypal energies expressed in queer experiences.

Drawing on research from experts in the field like Dr. Harville Hendrix, Brene Brown, and Esther Perel, Bedell goes deep to provide practical relational theory that can empower readers to find successful and healthy relationships.
