SOUTH2 WEST8 x Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge

Explores Japanese Fly Fishing, Available November 5

Reebok and Japanese clothing brand SOUTH2 WEST8 have announced their first collaborative project, the SOUTH2 WEST8 x Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge, utilizing technical elements and aesthetics that explore the traditional Japanese fly-fishing method, “Tenkara.” The SOUTH2 WEST8 x Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge ($170, FZ5857) is available November 5 exclusively from SOUTH2 WEST8 and in Japan before its wider global release on November 18 from Reebok.com and select retailers.

Founded in 2003 by Kaname Nagaoka, SOUTH2 WEST8 develops clothing and gear specifically for “Tenkara” fly fishing, with fashion as a key design element. In collaboration with Reebok, the Sapporo-based clothing store has applied its unique point of view to Reebok’s Zig Kinetica II Edge, a technical, outdoor-inspired modern interpretation of the brand’s iconic Zig sport style shoe.

“We were inspired by a visual of an outdoor field colliding with an urban city and the idea of linking the two,” commented SOUTH2 WEST8’s brand director. “SOUTH2 WEST8 holds little interest in designs that are overly sophisticated or high-tech, in favor of those that are athletically functional. In this respect, the Zig design aptly maintains its functionality, while possessing decorative and assertive elements with great visual volume and presence. These characteristics make it a perfect match for SOUTH2 WEST8 wear.”

The SOUTH2 WEST8 x Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge features a textile camouflage upper embellished by lush-green suede overlays, a spiky rubber toe cap, green laces, and a green heel loop completing the military-inspired look. At the bottom, a black and grey midsole encapsulates responsive Floatride Fuel cushioning above an anti-slip 30% pre-consumer recycled Vibram Ecostep lugged outsole.

“By incorporating symbolic SOUTH2 WEST8 textile designs, we were able to further enhance the affinity between our two brands,” continued SOUTH2 WEST8. “I think this shoe will be appreciated by people who love the outdoors, by fashion-devotees, and by those who are not satisfied with the same things as everyone around them.”

The SOUTH2 WEST8 x Reebok Zig Kinetica II Edge ($170, FZ5857) is available November 5 exclusively from SOUTH2 WEST8 and in Japan before its wider global release on November 18 from Reebok.com and select retailers.

HEARST Taps Donna Kalajian Lagani as VEEP

Hearst announced that Donna Kalajian Lagani has been named vice president and Eastern director of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation of California and the Hearst Foundation, Inc. of New York, succeeding George B. Irish who passed away on September 13 after serving 14 years in that position. She begins her new role immediately.

The announcement was made by William Randolph Hearst III, chairman of the board of directors of Hearst, president of the William Randolph Hearst Foundation and a director of the Hearst Foundation, Inc., and Virginia Hearst Randt, president of the Hearst Foundation, Inc.

Kalajian Lagani joined the Hearst Foundations in 2019 as senior program officer after nearly 25 years at Hearst Magazines.

Separate from the corporation, the Hearst Foundations are national philanthropic resources for organizations working in the fields of culture, education, health and social services. In addition, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation operates two programs, the United States Senate Youth Program and the Journalism Awards Program. Since its inception, the Foundations have made over 22,200 grants to 6,300 organizations, totaling more than $1.4 billion in funds awarded. Paul “Dino” Dinovitz is executive director of both foundations and leads the Western operations.

“For years, Donna was a high-energy executive at Hearst Magazines,” said Hearst. “She brings the same passion for making things happen to her role in philanthropy. I know Donna will make a positive impact on people’s lives — creating the kind of opportunities that my grandfather envisioned when he started the Foundations in 1946. The entire team looks forward to working with her. Donna will sustain our mission to identify and fund outstanding nonprofits and ensure that people of all backgrounds have the chance to build healthy, productive and satisfying lives.”

Said Randt: “Donna has already made a profound impact at the Foundations and has worked tirelessly to identify the organizations who can make the most impact with our grants.”

“The past four years with the Foundations have been among the most fulfilling of my career,” said Kalajian Lagani. “The Foundations are committed to helping organizations make lasting, positive changes in our world and I am honored to be able to be a part of it and to carry on that mission.”

Kalajian Lagani joined Hearst Magazines in 1995 as publisher of Cosmopolitan and was named publishing director in 1999. She added oversight of Seventeen in 2014 and of Women’s Health in 2018, following Hearst’s acquisition of Rodale. During her career at Cosmopolitan, Kalajian Lagani introduced groundbreaking initiatives, most recently through mobile and artificial intelligence technology. She developed and immortalized the “fun fearless female” mantra used by Cosmopolitan editions worldwide. During her tenure, she helped launch CosmoGIRL! and Cosmo for Latinas and was a strong force in bringing Cosmopolitan to new platforms, including Snapchat and Sirius XM Radio.

The Hearst Foundation, Inc. was founded by William Randolph Hearst in 1946. In 1949, Hearst established the California Charities Foundations, later renamed the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. Both foundations are guided by the same charitable mission, which reflects the philanthropic interests of their founder.

The two foundations are managed as one entity, sharing the same funding guidelines, leadership and staff. Staff based in New York City review all proposals from organizations located east of the Mississippi River, and staff in the San Francisco office review those from organizations west of it.

Tips for Traveling Abroad These Holidays

The holidays are a great time to travel, and with Christmas and New Year’s coming up, there’s no better time to start planning your trip. If you’re looking for tips on how to make the most of your travel experience, you’re in the right place. Here are six tips to help you have a great time while traveling abroad.

Do Your Research

One of the first things you should do before traveling abroad for the upcoming holidays would be to research the place you plan on visiting. Before you go anywhere, it’s important to do some research on the area you’ll be visiting. Knowing what to expect can help make your trip more enjoyable and less stressful.

One of the most important things to research would be the available modes of transport; for example, if there are neighboring islands or cities, you can search for the best ferry routes and take a  ferry to them, or would you need to fly? Another essential factor to research would be the levels of crime in the city you are planning on visiting.

Plan Ahead

Another helpful tip is to plan ahead as much as possible. Many first-time travelers aren’t aware of this, but the amount of planning you do before going on a vacation will determine how pleasant the experience is. It might sound counterintuitive since planning is boring, but it will help improve traveling experience.

This means figuring out where you want to go and what you want to see and making arrangements for transportation and accommodations well in advance. For example, if you want to visit a popular city within a country, finding accommodation three days before you plan on departing might not be good enough since it could be a very busy season and hotels might be full.

Pack Light

Another important tip for traveling abroad these holidays would be to pack as light as possible. One thing that can hamper a vacation is lugging heavy luggage everywhere you go. So, try to pack light – only take the essentials with you!

This, of course, depends on how long you will be going for. A general rule of thumb, if it is only a week, would be to use the 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 rule. This means that you should only take around five pairs of socks and underwear, four tops (t-shirts or long sleeved), three pairs of pants (shorts or long), two pairs of shoes, and potentially a hat if the destination is hot.

Be Prepared For Anything

The next tip for anyone who wants to travel abroad these holidays would be to be prepared for anything. This might sound like it goes against the previous tip, which is to pack light, but this tip refers to essentials other than clothing.

When traveling abroad, it’s always a good idea to be prepared for anything that might happen – from unexpected weather changes to getting lost in a foreign city. With this in mind, pack all the necessary supplies (such as sunscreen, insect repellent, etc.)

Explore But Be Safe

Finally, the last tip on this list is one of the most important: get out of the hotel and explore. One of the best things about traveling is exploring new places and cultures. So, venture beyond your hotel or tourist spots and immerse yourself in the local environment.

This also involves visiting all of the popular tourist destinations and all of the important cultural heritage sites. Most importantly, try out the local food since it is probably one of the only chances you will get to try the authentic food of the country you will be visiting.

That said, it’s also important to remember that you must be safe whilst travelling in another country. In today’s day and age, it is particularly easy for criminals to spot tourists; unfortunately, tourists make easy targets.

As such, the most important thing you can do when visiting another country would be to be as vigilant as possible and always be aware of what is going on, regardless of your situation.

ABOUT YUNG GRAVY:
Only the best things get better with age—wine, whisky, cheddar, beef, 401ks, and the list goes on. Yung Gravy gets better with age too. When you think about it, the name Yung Gravy itself says a great deal. It’s perpetually youthful, and it oozes “sauce. As such, Yung Gravy blends “cool” and “fun” by using his own recipe and bringing originality and positivity to a genre that is overflowing with the opposite. In the fall of 2016, Matthew Hauri was a full-time student at University of Wisconsin, Madison. At the time, he introduced the world to “Yung Gravy, a mysterious, faceless figure—only recognizable for his unique musical style and use of vintage ads for album artwork. In the span of six short years, Gravy has transformed from Soundcloud stalwart to platinum powerhouse. To date, his accolades include two platinum and four gold singles as well as nearly 10 sold out tours of North America, Europe, and Australia. He has collaborated with his self-proclaimed musical heroes, including Lil BabyLil WayneChief Keef, Juicy JT-Pain, and the late Young Dolph. He was given an honorary Stanley Cup ring from the Tampa Bay Lightning and starred in a worldwide commercial campaign with Martha Stewart. For all of the swagger and style he exhibited upon his arrival, he somehow got even smoother since introducing himself back in 2016. After streams in the billions, packed venues, and “side missions” with Martha Stewart, he stirs up his tastiest sauce yet on his 2022 third full-length opus, Marvelous [Republic Records] introduced by the chart-topping gold-certified single “Betty.”

Sam Smith released news song Gloria via 360 MAGAZINE.

SAM SMITH – GLORIA

Multi-Platinum, GRAMMY®, BRIT, Golden Globe and Oscar winning artist/songwriter Sam Smith will release Gloria, their fourth studio album, on January 27, 2023 via Capitol Records. Made with longtime collaborators Jimmy Napes, Stargate and Max Martin stablemate ILYA, Gloria is not only a creative revelation but something of a personal revolution for the celebrated artist. Lyrically, the subjects dive deep and wide, into contemporary narratives around sex, lies, passion, self-expression and imperfection.

Sam Smith says, “It feels like emotional, sexual and spiritual liberation. It was beautiful, with this album, to sing freely again. Oddly, it feels like my first-ever record. And it feels like a coming of age.”

Recorded in Jamaica, Los Angeles and London, Gloria is the dazzling, sumptuous, sophisticated, unexpected and at times thrilling, edgy sound of Sam’s creative heart today. The sound of constricting shackles crashing to the floor, of boundaries joyfully breached, of a still-searching talent discovering what it means to be truly free.

The album is now available for pre-order HERE. Fans who pre-order the digital edition of Gloria will instantly receive the chart-topping lead single, “Unholy” ft. Kim Petras plus “Love Me More.”

Since its release last month, “Unholy” has become a global smash, amassing over 300 million combined global streams. The single has already captured the No. 1 spot on three Billboard charts – Global 200, Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales – and topped the U.S. Shazam chart. “Unholy” has spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the UK Official Singles Chart, marking Sam’s eighth song to top the tally. The track also hit No. 1 worldwide on Apple Music and Spotify. Within the first 24 hours of release, the song ranked among the Top 10 Spotify debuts of all time. “Unholy” gave Universal Music Group its biggest streaming debut of 2022. TikTok creations are averaging 100,000 daily.

The official video for “Unholy” follows a john who ducks out on his wife and sneaks off to his favorite sex club cabaret, only to find his guilty pleasures revealed in a very public manner. It was directed by Floria Sigismondi (The Runaways film, David Bowie, Christina Aguilera) and choreographed by French dance collective (LA)HORDE. Look for cameos by Gottmik and Violet Chachki from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and porn star Paddy O’Brian. Watch “Unholy” HERE.

Billboard observed, “‘Unholy’…not only unites two of the most prominent artists in the past decade of queer pop music, but does so without sonic reservation…a grinding, amorous new single.” Rolling Stone said, “Girls, gays, theys: this one is for you.” V Magazine praised the track as “blazing, wild, feral.” NYLON noted, “Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ hedonistic club banger is finally here – and it is criminally catchy.”

Gloria builds on the 35 million adjusted album sales, 250 million single sales and the 45 billion career streams Sam has amassed with the global success of their previous three studio albums, In the Lonely Hour, The Thrill of It All and Love Goes.

A four-time GRAMMY® winner, Sam also holds two Guinness World Records – for the most consecutive weeks in the U.K .Top 10 Album Chart (for their 2014 debut, In The Lonely Hour) and for having the first James Bond Theme to reach No.1 on the U.K. charts (for the Oscar and Golden Globe winning “Writing’s on the Wall”). With the release of Gloria in January and an exciting live plot in motion, it’s going to be an undeniable 2023 for Sam.
