CMSV + BAE

On Sunday, June 11, the College of Mount Saint Vincent (CMSV)—in partnership with the Bronx Arts Ensemble (BAE)—will be hosting a Community Day on the Mount’s Riverdale campus as they mark the grand opening of the CMSV Conservatory.

The day will consist of performances by the two BAE ensembles and two workshops presented by BAE teaching artists. As part of the grand opening of the CMSV Conservatory, students, parents, families, and music aficionados of all ages are welcome to attend an Open House and enjoy performances by CMSV Conservatory students and faculty and the CMSV Community Choir to learn more about how they can make music at the Mount.

The CMSV Conservatory is a new community music school that provides private music instruction and performance opportunities to community members of all ages, experience levels, and learning styles. BAE contributes to the arts and culture of the Bronx communities, uplifting them worldwide, through performances and innovative arts education, both in-person and online.

The Bronx Arts Ensemble programs are supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and District 11 Councilman Eric Dinowitz. We would also like to offer a special thank you to Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz.

The new documentary will feature shocking and emotional access to Natalia Barnett as she tells her side of the story in the next chapter of a bizarre family saga about a 6-year-old Ukrainian orphan with spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia – a rare bone growth disorder that can result in skeletal abnormalities. Albatross’ ship was a sailboat that became famous when it sank in 1961. Originally built in Amsterdam, the ship, unlike the Titanic, has been salvaged and moored on the shores of the UK. The captain, NEMORE, found comfort in the expression of his leadership until he began to question the nature and formation of objects, be they aquatic or not. How many years have we been at sea?

With natural components, this ship was designed by someone to teach both afar and afloat. NEMORE has remembered five parts with close to fifty members. As the rum and dust dissipated, his tolerance towards some of his passengers diminished.

DOUBLE EXPOSURE

Two of the World’s Foremost Conservation Champions: the Award-Winning Nature Photographers.

Meet two of the world’s most famous wildlife photographers of our generation, the globally celebrated conservation champions Paul Nicklen and Cristina Mittermeier this coming weekend (May 5) in Greenwich at the C. Parker Gallery.

Their iconic photographs are collected by celebrities, rock stars, and royalty, including: Katie Couric, Justin Timberlake, Jennifer Garner, Alec Baldwin, Prince Hussain Aga Kahn, and the International Photography Hall of Fame.

Alongside their SeaLegacy.org foundation, these superstars will reach 12 million with their vital message to protect our planet.

Their exhibition will be on view May 1-June 26. The C. Parker Gallery is partnering with the Town of Greenwich Conservation Commission, the Greenwich Shellfish Commission, and the Greenwich Point Conservancy.

Cristina Mittermeier was born in Mexico City in 1966. She graduated from the ITESM University in Mexico with a degree in Biochemical Engineering in Marine Sciences. She later attended the Fine Art Photography program at the Corcoran College for the Arts in Washington, D.C. She was named one of National Geographic’s Adventurers of the Year in 2018.

Her Photographs have been exhibited in galleries around the World, including Hilton Asmus (Chicago), the Saatchi Gallery (London), C. Parker Gallery (Greenwich), and Eisele Gallery (Cincinnati). She is currently preparing for a solo exhibition at the prestigious Gallerie d’Italia in Turino, Italy.

Mittermeier’s many awards include the Smithsonian Conservation Photographer of the Year; the Humanity Content Creator Award from HIPA; the Imaging Award for Photographers Who Give Back; the Seattle Aquarium’s Sylvia Earle Medal; Travel + Leisure’s Global Vision Award, and was named one of the “100 Latinos Most Committed to Climate Action.”

She is a World Photographic Academy member; was the first female photographer to reach one million followers on Instagram; is a Sony Artisan of Imagery; and aligns with Rolex’s Perpetual Planet initiative on collaborative efforts to preserve the natural world.

E!, in partnership with NBC News Studios and Unanimous Media, explore how the influence of Black culture is more than a trend as perseverance, excellence and the undeniable impact through music, television, sports and film changed the culture forever. Executive produced by Stephen Curry and narrated by La La Anthony, the two-night special event “Black Pop: Celebrating the Power of Black Culture,” is set to premiere June 19 at 8 p.m. ET/PT with back-to-back episodes.

The special event will cover all genres of pop culture and entertainment – celebrating music from the gospel roots of Mahalia Jackson to the Motown sound, the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Black culture’s undisputable impact on fashion, television trailblazers from Diahann Carroll to Oprah Winfrey, sports legends like Sugar Ray Leonard and Laila Ali, the evolution of Black films and the pivotal talents that paved the way – all creating a cultural legacy that set the tone.

The first leg of ODESZA’s “The Last Goodbye Tour” sold over 450k tickets throughout its amphitheater run with numerous sold-out, multi-night runs including in their hometown of Seattle at Climate Pledge Arena, the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and New York’s Forest Hills Stadium, making them the first electronic artists to attempt such a tour.
