With live music in lockdown and the return of tours still uncertain, rock group Queen has come up with a safe alternative: no masks, no social distancing, just the good old fashioned live experience with Queen: Rock Tour, the band’s first ever official game for Android and iOS devices.

The arrival of the play-along rhythm game comes at a significant landmark for Queen. With 50 years now having passed since the 1971 recruiting of John Deacon, completing Queen’s classic line-up, 2021 marks a Queen Golden Jubilee that the band was hoping to celebrate with fans. A massive 29-date European stadium and arena tour planned for this year has been forced to be delayed to 2022.

Queen: Rock Tour gives players a chance to experience the majesty and might of the Queen [live] experience on their phones, supported by extensive attention to detail contributed by the official Queen archives and experts. Hit the stage and perform with the entire band as you unleash your music talents to play thrilling guitar riffs, heart-pounding drum solos and much more. Queen’s music has been featured in major mobile music games before, but for the first time ever the band will be releasing their own dedicated mobile experience in Queen : Rock Tour.

Queen remain one of the most popular groups in the world today, transcending multiple generations of fans, a position further buoyed by the phenomenal global success of their Academy Award-winning 2018 biographical film Bohemian Rhapsody, which tells the incredible story of the band’s historic career and quickly became the highest grossing music biopic in history.

The film’s title was inspired by their iconic 1975 single “Bohemian Rhapsody,” the world’s most-streamed song from the 20th Century and the first pre-1980’s song to achieve more than 1 billion video views.

Queen’s Greatest Hits

Queen’s cornerstone “Greatest Hits” album is, once again, in the Top 10 of Billboard’s 200.

Released in 1981, the album has been on the charts for 412 weeks, finally landing at No. 8, up from its previous spot at No. 36. It previously peaked at No. 11 in 1992, the year following front man Freddie Mercury’s untimely death.

The now nine-time platinum album is also No. 1 on Billboard’s Vinyl Albums Chart with the second-largest sales week of 2020 for any vinyl release.

With monster hits from the iconic rock band like “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “We Are The Champions,” “Fat Bottomed Girls,” “Another One Bites the Dust” and so many more, it’s no wonder the album has stood the test of time.

Queen recently teamed up with both Target and Walmart to release brand new vinyl exclusives. Both are two-disc LPs, 180 gram.

Those opting for the Target exclusive will be treated to ruby blend marble vinyl while those who purchase from Walmart will receive red and white vinyl. The biggest fans of Queen might even be found purchasing both.

The band also recently released a live album with American Idol alum Adam Lambert at the helm. The album is titled “Queen + Adam Lambert Live Around The World,” and it landed at No. 1 on the UK’s official albums chart.

It was the first time a Queen album topped a chart since 1995’s “Made in Heaven.”

Queen is no stranger to the top ten, as this is their ninth album to land there. It will join the soundtrack for “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Greatest Hits I, II & III: The Platinum Collection,” “Classic Queen,” “The Game,” “Jazz.” “News of the World,” “A Day at the Races” and “A Night at the Opera.”

Queen’s “Greatest Hits” is still the best-selling album of all-time in the UK.

Despite tour postponement, Queen + Adam Lambert prove the show must go on with YouTube Tour Watch Party Sunday, June 21 (12 PM PDT / 3 PM EDT) YouTube.com/Queen The Tour Watch Party will remain live on the Queen channel for 24 hours Forced by the coronavirus outbreak to postpone their much anticipated ‘Rhapsody‘ European summer tour which this Sunday, June 21, would have seen the band end it’s run of 14 UK arena shows at London’s The 02 having also played Manchester and Birmingham, Queen + Adam Lambert are out to prove that even in these lockdown times the show can still go on.

While appreciating that it won’t be the same as seeing them perform live, the band instead are providing an all-access pass to a specially compiled show of highlights from previous tours on the day that they would have played their final O2 London concert by tying up with YouTube for a special Queen + Adam Lambert Tour Watch Party, this Sunday, June 21 at 12 PM PDT / 3 PM EDT. The Tour Watch Party will remain live on the Queen channel for 24 hours. This never before seen hour-long show will feature standout live band performances of many of the best known and loved songs from the Queen catalogue – plus rarities such as ‘Love Kills’ and ‘I Was Born To Love You’ – performed together at the Rock in Rio festivals in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro; the Global Citizen Festival in New York; Fire Fight Australia; Japan’s Summer Sonic Festival; the UK’s iconic Isle of Wight Festival; an exclusive iHeart Radio performance in Los Angeles, … and not to forget from Dallas, Texas, the much sought out “Fat Bottomed Girls” performed with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.

So whilst for now a seat at The O2 is not an option, Queen + Adam Lambert are out to show that they can still rock you. Queen + Adam Lambert are no strangers to YouTube with 12.5 million subscribers following them on the platform and “Bohemian Rhapsody” is part of the exclusive YouTube Billion View Club, the first 1970s video (and pre-1990s video) to reach 1 billion views on the platform. Queen + Adam Lambert’s lockdown version of “You Are the Champions,” all the proceeds of which are going towards the Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization, has already been viewed close to 4 million times in its first month on YouTube.

Bohemian Rhapsody is Queen’s Highest-Charting Album in 38 Years

Forget about the king, it’s good to be QUEEN: the iconic rock band scored its highest-charting album in 38 years with the Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack (Hollywood Records), which surged from No. 25 to No. 3 on The Billboard 200 (a 187% increase) and is currently No. 1 on the Billboard Artist 100 and Top Rock Albums charts.

In addition, Queen’s Greatest Hits Vol I, II & III: The Platinum Collection rocketed from No. 194 to No. 9. The chart activity follows the film’s November 2nd opening in theaters across the country. 20th Century Fox and Regency Enterprises acclaimed biopic was the No. 1 film at the box office upon its debut with an estimated $50 million in weekend ticket sales.

USA Today said it best: Bohemian Rhapsody is a hit all over again.

Bohemian Rhapsody’s hit-packed companion soundtrack is Queen’s highest-reaching album since 1980, when The Game spent five weeks at No. 1.

5 Seconds Of Summer Honor Queen With Cover Of “Killer Queen”

In honor of the life and legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen, and in celebration of the upcoming biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, multi-platinum band 5 Seconds Of Summer release a cover of Queen’s 1974 seminal hit, “Killer Queen” today at all digital providers.  Stream/Download “Killer Queen” HERE.

Says 5SOS, “Queen have been such a massive influence on us as a band.  Their unique harmonies, the fluidity to their songwriting and how they each used their own musicality to back each other up have always inspired us.  We chose to cover, ‘Killer Queen’ because we kept hearing it while writing our third album, Youngblood and were so enamored by the production and their early realization of the minimalist approach to the track.  For us, the exploration of individual vocalists in a band is incredibly important and Queen helped us to see the future of how we want to sing, in addition to how we play our instruments.  As a pioneer of individuality, Freddie taught us what it means to embrace the idea of truly being yourself and that’s a part of Queen that lives on in their music now, more than ever.”

The song, produced by Linus, follows singer-songwriter and musician, Shawn Mendes’ acoustic interpretation of the iconic 1981 No. 1 hit, “Under Pressure” and was recorded as the second installment in a series of three artist covers in support of the Mercury Phoenix Trust (MPT).  The MPT was founded in 1992 by Brian MayRoger Taylor and Jim Beach to support the global fight against HIV/AIDS. 5SOS, together with Universal Music Group (UMG) and Queen, will donate net profits of the track to the MPT.
