When we take a moment to breathe, pause, and reflect on the positives, my hope is that we can find acceptance and ultimately peace in the present moment. It’s okay to cry and mourn a loss – it’s part of the process to take care of ourselves and eventually enables us to be there for the people we care about.
 
This album speaks to the experiences of being a father, being a friend to oneself and others, and the happiness I’ve found in doing what I love for a living. I feel incredibly fortunate to travel the world and connect with people through my music, as well as having had the opportunity to work with some of the most talented musicians, songwriters, and producers on this project.
 
A director I once worked with had a handwritten note above his camera during filming that asked, “What do you want them to feel?”. This question still resonates with me every time I step on stage or create new music. The ability to perform, connect deeply with an audience, and evoke positive emotions, or even healing, is a gift I cherish.
 
This album is a reflection and celebration of life. I hope it brings you as much joy as it brought me creating it. Please enjoy!

All Aboard with Amtrak Emojis

As part of World Emoji Day, Amtrak unveiled a list of digital icons the company will use in messaging about each of its Northeast Corridor, Long Distance, and State Supported service lines. The 40 emojis were selected to reflect the various landscapes, industries, cultures, and quirks of the states where these routes operate.

Hollywood Records + Marvel

Hollywood Records announces that Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, featuring a collection of 18 songs, is set for release on July 24. The soundtrack will also be available on CD and a 12″ 2-LP vinyl on July 26.  The Deadpool & Wolverine Original Score digital album, with music by composer Rob Simonsen, will also be available in ATMOS on July 24, along with the digital deluxe edition soundtrack, which includes both songs and score.

Lola Brooke Capsule

Lola Brooke has unveiled a special capsule collection of merchandise comprised of hooded sweatshirts, bold graphic tees, trucker hats, and more inspired by some of her most notable mottos, catchphrases, and her debut project, Dennis Daughter, released last year.

AIN’T DONE BAD is a hybrid theatrical dance experience conceived, directed, and choreographed by Jakob Karr (“So You Think You Can Dance”), featuring the music of country star Orville Peck. The show will play a limited engagement at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W. 42nd Street) with previews beginning July 9, opening July 14, and running through September 1st.

AIN’T DONE BAD tells the powerful heartwarming story of coming out, falling in love, and finding one’s true voice as a queer person in the South. Told entirely through contemporary dance without a single spoken word, the 90-minute performance stars Jakob Karr along with ten leading dancers. 

Karr is joined onstage by Adrian Lee (Wicked) as the Father, Megumi Iwama (“Mean Girls” the movie) as the Mother, Ian Spring (Parsons Dance) as the Brother, Luke Qualls (The Radio City Christmas Spectacular) as Jakob Karr’s alternate, Yusaku Komori (“The Greatest Showman”) and Jordan Lombardi (Phantom Of The Opera Nat’l Tour) as the Friends, and Joshua Escover (“Empire Strips Back”) as the Lover. Swings include Caden Hunter (Juilliard) and Madison O’Connor (Radio City Rockettes), who also acts as Dance Captain.

AIN’T DONE BAD comes to The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center after critically-acclaimed workshops in Orlando at Renaissance Theatre Company and in North Carolina at Durham’s PSI Theatre, Greensboro PAC, and the Wortham Center for Performing Arts in 2023. The production premiered in 2021 at the Orlando International Fringe Festival, where it received the festival’s highest honor (Best Show). Karr is joined by Scenic Designers Philip Lupo, Joey Coombs, and Blake Schulte, with Lighting Design by Philip Lupo. Morgan Lemos is the Stage Manager and additional creatives include Grace Buckley (Associate Choreographer) and Joi Marchetti (Additional Music Production). Evan Bernardin Productions is the general manager, Eli Owens in the production assistant, and digital advertising is by SINE Digital.

Jakob Karr began dancing at the age of 12 and has performed all over the country as well as most of Europe, Australia, Japan, and India. “When I first listened to Orville Pecks’s album Pony in 2019, I immediately felt that a story had to be woven through his songs…the theatricality of his voice and lyrics spoke to me so clearly,” said Jakob Karr. “As a fellow queer artist, I feel it’s important that we tell stories that uplift and honor our community. His music is a gorgeous example of finding triumph in pain and sharing your best self with those who will listen. With dance as my first language, this is the best way I can tell this story. AIN’T DONE BAD is my love letter to anyone who has ever struggled with their identity, and it is a thank you note to everyone who helped me find my voice.”

Renaissance Theatre Company (or the Ren) (rentheatre.com) is an Orlando-based non-profit theater company dedicated to developing original theatrical experiences in Orlando and beyond, with intentional focus on fair pay for artists, highlighting diverse perspectives, and building a new audience for live theatrical entertainment. Marvel’s Armored Avenger takes off for new adventures this October in IRON MAN #1! The new hard-hitting run will be written by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Spencer Ackerman (Reign of Terror; DC’s Waller vs. Wildstorm) in his exciting Marvel debut. Tony struggles with challenges – and is sure about to struggle with challenges – that I’ve covered for years. Last night, Bud Light and 9x RIAA diamond-certified, GRAMMY® Award-nominated phenomenon Post Malone put on “A Night in Nashville.” Taking over the city of Nashville for one night only, Bud Light and Post Malone gave fans an intimate performance with music from his upcoming album F-1 TrillionThe event featured an exclusive night of live music from Post Malone plus special guests Blake SheltonHARDYJoe Nichols and Sierra Ferrell.
 
Songs from the set included Post’s recent singles “I Had Some Help” and “Pour Me a Drink”, which he performed with Blake Shelton, as well as a handful of yet to be released records from Post’s upcoming album F-1 Trillion which is set to be released August 16th.

Sony Electronics 45th Anniversary Party

Sony Electronics, celebrating the 45th Anniversary of Walkman with an 80’s retro themed immersive activation, followed by dinner and a party at a private residence in Beverly Hills this past Friday, July 12th, from 2:30 – 9 PM. In addition to a Walkman experience, drinks, and dancing, they hit rewind with a rap showcase hosted by Curtis Roach and an 80s throwback set by DJ Lex. 

It was an epic evening with a private tree house experience where VIPs mingled and talked all things Sony Walkman. The climax of the evening is when they converted the tennis courts behind the private home into a skating rink with a large disco ball. Also, onsite was two Sony Walkman iridescent and transparent social media confessionals where guests could see themselves be seen on a live feed on the stage. Another cool feature at the activation was their Sony t-shirt station. VIPs and digital influencers were allowed to choose retro designs of their favorite Sony Walkman logo to be printed onto a fitted baseball vintage t-shirt.

This was a monumental moment for the brand as their been a part of pop culture. Kudos to Sony Electronics for their excellent execution of the Sony Summer House–it was both nostalgic and whimsical.
