(G)I-DLE – I burn

Kicking off 2021 in style, K-Pop sensation (G)I-DLE release their anxiously awaited brand-new mini-album I burn today. Get it HERE via Republic Records.

As the group’s most fully realized conceptual effort to date, I burn examines the emotional rollercoaster of a breakup, distilling all of the ups and downs into a genre-busting artistic statement. Incorporating Eastern instrument sounds, it depicts a story of mixed emotions one may go through in the process of parting and finding happiness again. As ‘my’ story begins with a burned heart by a painful breakup, the album ends by showing although these scars may hurt me, they make me glow and bloom a red flower.

Amplifying the members’ voices as creators and songwriters, the six-track project notably features writing by leader SOYEON on three songs, MINNIE on two songs, and YUQI on one song. Among SOYEON’s contributions, the lead single “HWAA” catches listeners’ ears with its addictive hook and lyrics depicting dramatic emotional changes. The song builds with its musical arrangements and Eastern instrument sounds to let the listeners feel the aching pain from a breakup. Lyrically, it explores “the pain of love by using blazing fire and a beautiful flower as metaphors.

“LOST” reflects raw feeling with R&B production punctuated by synth loops and guitar, and Where is love”brings (G)I-DLE back to the dancefloor with retro-style funky bass and a chantable refrain. “MOON” is an upbeat, honest pop track with a catchy hook built upon a danceable disco rhythm, bass, and synthesizer. Meanwhile, “HANN(Alone in winter)” reaches heavenly heights over cinematic production as the moombahton-inspired finale “DAHLIA” glide towards a sweeping refrain, “I’ll choose to love you anyway cuz you’re my dahlia.

Last year, (G)I-DLE incited a frenzy worldwide with “DUMDi DUMDi,which gathered 18.3 million Spotify streams and 74 million YouTube views on the music video. Not to mention, their “Oh my god” music video picked up a nomination in the category of BEST K-POP at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards. TOMORROW X TOGETHER – STILL DREAMING

Global phenomenon K-pop boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER (SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN and HUENINGKAI) will release STILL DREAMING via UMe, their first full-length album in Japanese, on February 12, 2021, in the U.S. Pre-order and you can pre-order here.

The album title STILL DREAMING imparts the message that the five boys continue to reach for a shared dream after the success of their debut album The Dream Chapter: STAR, released in March 2019.

The album features ten tracks comprised of Japanese versions of six of the group’s Korean hits, plus two intro/outro tracks, their Japanese hit “Everlasting Shine,” and a brand new Japanese original song, “Force,” featured as the opening theme for the animation “World Trigger” (2nd season).

BLACKPINK Postpones ‘The Show’

BLACKPINK shared today that their highly anticipated global livestream experience THE SHOW will be postponed from December 27 to January 31, 2021 at 12 a.m. EST / 2 p.m. KST, due to safety precautions and current restrictions pertaining to COVID-19 in South Korea.

BLACKPINK said, “We can’t wait to meet our BLINKS as soon as possible, but in order to comply with the South Korean COVID-19 prevention guidelines and to ensure a safe performance, we have unfortunately made the decision to postpone THE SHOW from December 27 to January 31 of next year. Through our concert, we wanted to give you some sort of comfort during these difficult times, but the health and safety of everyone taking part in THE SHOW is our top priority, so, in order to make sure that we prepare for the concert in a safe environment, we have decided to postpone THE SHOW.”

Everyone who purchased access to BLACKPINK’s THE SHOW via channel memberships will be automatically and fully refunded to their original form of payment starting today and can expect the following:

Break The Silence: The Movie

Two years after 2018’s film Burn The Stage: The Movie, BTS are giving an exclusive look behind the scenes of their 2018-2019 Love Yourself Tour in a sequel documentary titled, Break The Silence: The Movie.

This new film comes after what has been a year of great success for the South Korean group who started off 2020 with the release of their seventh album, Map of the Soul: 7, landing them the No.1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. This was followed by a Grammy Performance of “Seoul Town Road Remix” alongside Lil Nas and others. And just weeks ago, the group’s first entirely English single, “Dynamite”, broke records by becoming the first song by a Kpop group to debut as the number one slot on the Billboard 100 chart. Needless to say, BTS has become a household in Western media.

Break The Silence is a concert film following the boys – comprised of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – through the Love Yourself: Speak Yourself World Tour which took place in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, São Paulo, London, Seoul, and many more cities from May 4 to October 29, 2019. This stadium tour marked BTS as the first Korean group to perform at Wembley Stadium. According to Billboard, the Love Yourself World Tour ranked No. 3 on the Billboard’s 2019 Year End Top 40 Tours chart with 1.6 million tickets sold and a worldwide gross value of $196.4 million.

On Thursday, September 10, BigHit entertainment released a minute long teaser showcasing the seven members in their remarkable stage outfits with the song “Magic Shop”, from the Love Yourself :Tear album, playing in the background as a moving movie poster ending on the final image of member’s silhouettes on the stage.

TWICE – MORE & MORE

K-pop superstars, TWICE, released the English version of their current title track “MORE & MORE” today via Republic Records through all digital and streaming platforms. Originally off their ninth mini-album MORE & MORE, which entered the Billboard 200 for the first time upon its June release, the tracks energetic and dance heavy music video has accumulated an impressive 165M views and counting. The “MORE & MORE” single release marks the first time the group has recorded a full track in English, and certainly won’t be the last. Recently, TWICE announced that they are currently recording material for a new album, with more details in the coming months.

“We prepared the English version of “MORE & MORE” as a gift to our ONCE around the world,” said TWICE in a group statement. “We wish them happiness, and hope that they enjoy the song.”

Earlier this month, TWICE hosted an innovative online concert titled “Beyond LIVE – TWICE: World in A Day.” 126+ countries tuned in worldwide, to watch the group perform their hits and new tracks off MORE & MORE. South Korean superstar quartet BLACKPINK have announced an August 28 release date for the second single off their massively anticipated debut album. Set for release via YG Entertainment/Interscope Records, the upcoming track will include a surprise feature yet to be announced.

K-Pop Rookie boy band, CRAVITY, break into the music scene with their debut album “CRAVITY SEASON 1. [HIDEOUT: REMEMBER WHO WE ARE]”. Inspiration behind the name, CRAVITY, came to fruition through the combination of “Creativity” and “Gravity,” Starship Entertainment’s new boy band for the first time in five years since Monsta X. Consisting of nine members, [Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyoung, Seongmin], CRAVITY, which is also an acronym for “Center of Gravity,” is meant to attract/gravitate listeners into their unique universe, by pulling them in with their creativity, charm, and pure talent. As humans, we all have our own “first experiences”; whether that be in school, society, or in a relationship. When encountering new relationships, we sometimes prepare ourselves by running from the starting line at full speed, hearts racing, butterflies in our stomach, but at the same time we are afraid. We are hopeful, but we also experience despair. CRAVITY, through their debut album, share these different emotions in an effort to convey a message of hope to each other, and most importantly, to their fans.

Another standout track, “JUMPER,” which was produced by Joohoney of Monsta X, showcases the spirit of rookies who are freely exploring this new world, and are excited to meet their new fans. “I personally tried hard to highlight the strengths of the members while producing songs. It’s even more meaningful for me to be in charge of producing the members’ debut album” says Joohoney.

Jungmo, reflects on the debut of CRAVITY; “it still feels dreamy to me, but I truly want to show you how we will continue to improve ourselves nonstop. She would learn lyrics to the songs having no idea what she was singing but still would be able to sing it by just memorizing it. Wengie’s main goal in music is to create fun music that is “east meets west” / Kpop-fused-with-American-pop, which is essentially all the things she loves.
