BLACKPINK RETURNS TO THE STAGES

BLACKPINK is gearing up for their long-awaited comeback!

After months of reading and hearing rumors about BLACKPINK‘s comeback, we finally have confirmation from their agency YG Entertainment, who revealed that the girl group is currently in the final stages of recording their new album and will begin filming their music video in July. As announced to the Korean media Naver, the K-girl band will return with new music in August.

BLACKPINK fans are in luck since the comeback will not only come with new music but also with a world tour. YG Entertainment confirms that the world tour will be the “biggest” of BLACKPINK’s career: “In order to expand BLACKPINK’s emotional connection with fans around the world, they will be holding a world tour on the largest scale ever.” In addition, “the big projects that fit in that state will follow next,” adds the agency.

The news has been and continues to be celebrated by the millions of fans of the Korean girl group who have not heard new music from their favorite artists for almost two years. This will mark BLACKPINK’s first comeback in approximately a year and ten months since they released their first studio album, “THE ALBUM“. With a worldwide success, the songs in this album have become the favorite soundtrack of all their followers, such as “How You Like That” and the special collaboration song “Ice Cream.”

But their fans want more. Even though their followers have continued to support and follow each of the steps taken by BLACKPINK, they need to hear new musical content from the girl band. The great news is that it will happen in just a few weeks. We’ll have to wait to find out when exactly.

Two nights of a crowd-pulling show kicked off a world tour across 20 cities

Repackage album SECTOR 17 announced, to be released on July 18

K-pop stage-breakers SEVENTEEN catapulted 35,000 fans into a frenzy over two nights of a jaw-dropping show in Seoul on June 25 and 26. The band also greeted their global fans through a livestream of the offline concert.

The 13-piece act’s ‘SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [BE THE SUN] – Seoul‘ brought back the quintessential K-pop experience to Gocheok Sky Dome, being the largest offline concert in Korea since the onset of the pandemic, and since the ban on chanting, screaming and standing in concert halls was lifted in April.

Tightly choreographed performances of “HOT,” “March” and “HIT” led the set featuring 24 songs, followed by a swoon-worthy spectacle with unit tracks including “MOONWALKER,” “Imperfect love,” and “Back it up.” “Left & Right,” “Crush,” “Darl+ing” and more topped the set, boasting the band’s versatility. For the finale, the K-pop powerhouse staged their iconic hour-long encore with “Snap Shoot” and “Very Nice.”

As they wrapped up the show, SEVENTEEN delivered a heartfelt message to the fans who have long awaited their return to the live stage. The team’s producer and vocal unit leader WOOZI said, “We woke up with every part of our body aching after the first day. So today, we danced even harder. You are the source of all our energy.” The team’s performance unit leader HOSHI emphasized throughout the 2-day show, “We run at full throttle for this set. We wanted to show everyone what a ‘performance’ is.”

Arriving shortly after the encore was a surprise announcement for a repackage album release. Revealed through a trailer which showed the 13 members setting foot in an area labeled ‘SECTOR 17,’ the band is set to release SECTOR 17, a deluxe edition of their record-setting fourth album Face the Sun, on July 18.

SEVENTEEN reached a new milestone in K-pop with Face the Sun in May, becoming the second artist in K-pop history, following BTS, to rack up over 2 million sales in the first week of release.

The K-pop supergroup will bring their action-packed show to Vancouver next, embarking on the North American leg of the tour. 11 shows will follow across Seattle, Oakland, Los Angeles, Houston, Fort Worth, Chicago, Washington, DC, Atlanta, Belmont Park, Toronto and Newark. A total of 27 dates across 20 cities worldwide have been announced for ‘BE THE SUN,’ set to continue through December this year.

ENHYPEN × DIMENSION : ANSWER

Breakout K-pop destination ENHYPEN is set to release their first Studio Repackage Album DIMENSION : ANSWER on January 10, 2022. Announced recently on the official social media accounts of ENHYPEN along with the global fan platform Weverse, the announcement of the new album follows their popular first Studio Album DIMENSION : DILEMMA.

ENHYPEN consists of the artists JUNGWON, HEESEUNG, JAY, JAKE, SUNGHOON, SUNOO and NI-KI. The name of the boyband found muse from the ‘hypen(-),’ essentially sporting the meaning of seven individual boys coming together to discover and grow collectively. Taking off from their first debut album BORDER : DAY ONE, they took the “Rookie of The Year” title at four separate Korean award shows within only two months of their unveiling.

Continuing their achievements, ENHYPEN truly marked their territory in the realm of K-pop when their first Studio Album DIMENSION : DILEMMA released in October 2021. Memorizing Hangul is inevitable for learning Korean. But it might take more time than you expected. Even if memorizing Hangul takes some time, I hope people know that they have to endure it to move on to the next level.”

(G)I-DLE – I burn

Kicking off 2021 in style, K-Pop sensation (G)I-DLE release their anxiously awaited brand-new mini-album I burn today. Get it HERE via Republic Records.

As the group’s most fully realized conceptual effort to date, I burn examines the emotional rollercoaster of a breakup, distilling all of the ups and downs into a genre-busting artistic statement. Incorporating Eastern instrument sounds, it depicts a story of mixed emotions one may go through in the process of parting and finding happiness again. As ‘my’ story begins with a burned heart by a painful breakup, the album ends by showing although these scars may hurt me, they make me glow and bloom a red flower.

Amplifying the members’ voices as creators and songwriters, the six-track project notably features writing by leader SOYEON on three songs, MINNIE on two songs, and YUQI on one song. Among SOYEON’s contributions, the lead single “HWAA” catches listeners’ ears with its addictive hook and lyrics depicting dramatic emotional changes. The song builds with its musical arrangements and Eastern instrument sounds to let the listeners feel the aching pain from a breakup. Lyrically, it explores “the pain of love by using blazing fire and a beautiful flower as metaphors.

“LOST” reflects raw feeling with R&B production punctuated by synth loops and guitar, and Where is love”brings (G)I-DLE back to the dancefloor with retro-style funky bass and a chantable refrain. “MOON” is an upbeat, honest pop track with a catchy hook built upon a danceable disco rhythm, bass, and synthesizer. Meanwhile, “HANN(Alone in winter)” reaches heavenly heights over cinematic production as the moombahton-inspired finale “DAHLIA” glide towards a sweeping refrain, “I’ll choose to love you anyway cuz you’re my dahlia.

Global phenomenon K-pop boy group TOMORROW X TOGETHER (SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN and HUENINGKAI) will release STILL DREAMING via UMe, their first full-length album in Japanese, on February 12, 2021, in the U.S. Pre-order and you can pre-order here.

The album title STILL DREAMING imparts the message that the five boys continue to reach for a shared dream after the success of their debut album The Dream Chapter: STAR, released in March 2019.
