How CBD Oil is made: The Ultimate Ethanol Extraction Guide

Recent medical research shows that Cannabinoid (CBD) has the potential to ease symptoms of various ailments such as cancer, arthritis, and multiple sclerosis and more. CBD, which is one of the 85 different compounds that naturally occur in a cannabis plant, is growing in popularity for its medical applications.

CBD products act as:

  • Antioxidants
  • Antipsychotics
  • Anticonvulsants
  • Anti-inflammatories

The users cannot gain these benefits from just buying a hemp plant from a supplier. The compound that offers these excellent benefits must be extracted and transformed into a consumable product by a professional.

Ethanol extraction is one of the best methods to extract CBD oils.

How Ethanol Extraction Process Works

The ethanol extraction method involves introducing a solvent (ethanol) to the hemp plant to extract the cannabinoid. Ethanol then helps dissolves the natural chlorophyll of the hemp plant along with essential oils and cannabinoids. This results in a green-colored CBD oil. A simple filtering process helps remove the green discoloration.

Additional steps after extraction

The CBD extract must pass through a few other processes before it is ready for pet and human consumption.

  • Decarboxylation

This is the process that helps activate CBD oil. Before this process is done, the extract is still in an inactive form, and the CBD and THC present in the plant haven’t reached their full potential.

These phytocannabinoids are in an acidic state, which is better known as cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid (THCA). The elements must pass through the decarboxylation process to make the inactive components active and get a high-quality end-product.

  • Winterization

Winterization is the process used to remove unwanted fatty acids, chlorophyll, plant materials, terpenes, and cannabinoids found in the CBD extract. This act helps dissolve non-polar substances (such as hash oil) into a polar substance (in most cases, ethanol) at sub-zero temperatures.

The process forces lipids (fatty acids) and waxes from the crude extract to the uppermost part of the mixture. Then, they are removed through a simple filtration process.

Downsides of Ethanol Extraction

Ethanol readily mixes with water which breaks down water-soluble molecules such as chlorophyll. Unfortunately, chlorophyll is one major “undesirable” ingredient. The ethanol extraction method can produce a green, grassy product which is also undesirable.

Some industry leaders like Capna Sytems have invented ways to reduce the need for additional processes during the ethanol extraction method. For example, by using multiple ethanol extractions, they mitigate the presence of chlorophyll among other undesirables.

Why Ethanol Extraction is the Safest Method

According to the FDA, ethanol is the safest method of extraction and is already being used in the extraction of many other conventional medicines and foods.

The main aim of extraction is to produce cannabinoids that are not just pure but also highly concentrated for pet and human consumption. Unlike other methods of extraction, ethanol extraction provides a high-quality end product with up to 99% purity. Also, it is one of the cheapest and most efficient methods available.

How To Stay Healthy the Easy Way

At the beginning of the year many people may make resolutions, whether it is going to an e cig shop instead of buying another pack of cigarettes, or vowing to lose 20 pounds. However, many may also find that it is easier to make a resolution than to keep it. That doesn’t mean, though, that getting or staying healthy needs to feel difficult. Here are a few things to keep in mind if you want to try to get healthier the easy way.

Eat More

While some may focus on what they can’t eat when they are trying to improve their diet, focusing on what you can eat may make the process easier. By focusing more on including foods that are good for you, it may help you to keep your mind off of the things that you are trying to eat less.

Work Out Less

Sometimes, intense workouts can put undue stress on the body and ultimately lead to weight retention and gain. Although working out may be a healthy decision for most, if you find yourself dreading workouts or feeling overly exhausted after you’ve exercised, reevaluating your workouts may be a good idea. Also, many health benefits may still be gained from more relaxed types of exercise, such as nature walks or yoga.

Sleep In

Although sleep may not be the first thing that comes to mind when it comes to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it may have a significant impact on your overall health. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body is often unable to undergo the healing processes that it normally would during the night. Even if you find it difficult to get the full recommended eight hours of sleep, simply aiming for an extra hour or two could potentially make a difference in your health.

When you learn something new and improve your memory from the resourceful information from Neuropedia, the best way to remember it is to sleep on it. You can achieve peak brain performance regardless of your age with the information provided here.

Go Easy on Yourself

Even though some may feel bad about not being able to stick to resolutions, the reality is that it may not be worth it to stress out if you’ve veered off course. Stress can be damaging to health, and feeling bad about not reaching or sticking to a goal often won’t make it any easier to reach it. Because of this, learning to go easy on yourself when it comes to resolutions could be a better option.

The Takeaway

Making a resolution to improve your health can be admirable, however, it isn’t always easy. Just because it may not always be easy to stick to health goals doesn’t mean that you should just give up on them. By being patient and understanding with yourself, your goals could potentially be more attainable than you might think.

Tips on Getting Brooklyn Tattoos You’ll Love

Getting a tattoo is a big decision. Especially if we are talking about your fist one. Because you are stuck with it for life (yes, you can laser remove it later, but that is way more painful and expensive than getting a tattoo), you want to make a good choice. Here are some great tips on getting the tattoo you love when in Brooklyn.

Think it through

Don’t rush it. I mean it, do not ever make a hasty decision when thinking about getting tattooed. Don’t even think about getting one while drunk, because you might regret it the next day. So, take your time. No one is rushing you; you have all the time in the world to choose your perfect design. And another piece of advice – do not get tattooed while young and never ink your boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s name.

Find the perfect idea

The process of finding the perfect tattoo can be lengthy, especially if you do not have something specific in mind. Some know that they want dragons, others the picture of their favorite pet or flowers. Even then, when you know what you want, you should take your time and do your research. Let’s say, for example, that you want to get a rose. Because there are so many stages of a rose, you should look up all of them and see which one suits you best. Don’t forget about the color – although red is the most frequent choice, you might want to go with pink, yellow or even blue. You will get some good advice on finding the perfect tattoo idea right here: http://tatring.com/getting-tattooed/TattooAdvice-2

The size always matters

The size of the tattoo is also very important and no one can decide that other than you. Think about how big you want it to be. If you do not want it to stand out so much, go for a small one. Do not exaggerate and do not just imagine how it will look like. Find a drawing you like and print it to see how it looks like on your body.

Where do you want it?

After size, there’s placement. It’s not the same if you get your tattoo on your back (which will be covered most of the time) or your wrist. How visible do you want it to be? Think about other aspects such as your job – in cases such as teaching, for example, tattoos can be frowned upon. Also, the pain level when getting a tattoo varies depending on the area.

Find the perfect Brooklyn tattoo artist for you

Once you’ve decided that you really want a tattoo, you must start searching for a good artist. You do not want it to be made by an artist friend who does not have any experience in the field – no matter how nice of you that would be, remember that your tattoo will stick with you forever. This is why you need the best tattoo artist in town. Even if you are not from Brooklyn, you can travel there to check out tattoo shops like Hand of Glory Tattoo. You need an experienced artist, open to answer all your questions.

This is why you should first think about booking an appointment with the artist. Tell him about your vision and if you have only some sketches, he might help you get the drawing done. He will help you with any questions tattoo and pricing-related, but it is not his job to choose the final variant of the tattoo. That is totally up to you.

Take good care of your new tattoo

When you leave the tattoo shop, make sure to ask for some tending advice. To heal properly, a tattoo must be taken good care of. You should neither expose the tattoo to sun rays nor bathe while it is still healing. You can also read some more on the subject here. It’s important to know how to attend to your tattoo from the very beginning. If you believe that it is not healing properly, you can revisit your tattoo artist to get his opinion on the matter, but if you follow his advice and take good care, everything should be alright. It’s time to enjoy your new tattoo!

LA DESIGN COMMUNITY

LA Architect and UCLA Professor Abeer Sweis designs (and remodels) homes to better withstand fires. She also uses sustainable materials.

Changing seasons have increased fire hazards, so she uses the latest fire grade materials to better prepare homeowners. A home designed by Sweis in Ojai’s fire zone survived. When the Thomas Fire blazed through, it reached the property, but it didn’t burn it down. http://www.sweiskloss.com/fire Feel free to ask questions. Sweis is available on the phone and on location here in LA. About SweisKloss

Abeer Sweis | design partner

At heart, Abeer is both an architect and interior designer. While she also has intimate knowledge of construction and structural engineering, it is her innate ability to look at a potential project and see the myriad of design possibilities that has helped make her company a success.

Abeer knew at a young age that she wanted to be an architect. When she was 10, her family moved from her native Amman, Jordan to Los Angeles, where she went on to receive her Bachelor of Architecture degree from Woodbury University. While working as a designer at a small architecture firm, she acquired the technical knowledge and business skills to build her own company. In 1998, she started her own design firm, and in 2006 she partnered with her husband Jeff Kloss to create the construction side of the company, fulfilling their design + construct vision.

Since 1995, Abeer has taught at UCLA Extension, Cal Poly Pomona, Pierce College, Woodbury University and other Los Angeles area design schools. A leader in her community, she is a distinguished past president of the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica and an involved parent of two rapidly growing children.

Jeff Kloss | construction partner

A licensed general contractor and go-to guy for all things construction, Jeff has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Woodbury University where he and Abeer met. While he was pursuing his degree, he worked for a local construction company and discovered his appreciation for building.

Jeff went on to manage the construction of exclusive restaurants, high-end retail projects and custom homes for the Marshall Group before leading institutional projects at CW Driver such as The Cerritos Public Library, Jewish Home for the Aging and the Torrance YMCA. He also oversaw multiple modernization projects for the La Crescenta Valley and El Segundo School Districts.

After learning all aspects of construction on a variety of large-scale jobs, Jeff started to miss collaborating with a team and working on projects that were more intimate and personal for the end user. Thus, the perfect opportunity presented itself to join forces with Abeer to create their full-service design + construct  firm. Jeff is an active parent, coach and mentor in Boy Scout Troop T2 and AYSO Soccer. From leading a hike or canoe trip, to refereeing soccer games, he enjoys spending time with his son and daughter.

2020 World Economic Forum

Cities Leverage the Fourth Industrial Revolution to Accelerate Achievement of the Global Sustainable Development Goals at the 2020 World Economic Forum

January 22, 2020 Lunch 12:00-14:00 Belvedere Hotel in Davos, Switzerland

This event will catalyze and advance a number of concrete, action-oriented projects on the 4IR and SDGs in cities. One is a major demonstration initiative on the 4IR and SDGs fully supported by the municipal leadership of Nairobi and Los Angeles, with generous seed funding provided by the Hilton Foundation. In addition, leadership from The Connective, the United States’ first smart region, highlights a model partnership between industry, the public sector, and academia as a way to accelerate the co-creation, testing, and delivery of technological solutions. Unlike many “smart city” initiatives, The Connective is designed to address its region’s most pressing societal and environmental problems from the bottom up.

The World Economic Forum has made a powerful case that we are in the midst of a 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR), characterized by a range of powerful, converging technologies that are transforming human life, business dynamics, government practices, citizen engagement, cultures and the environment. While technology has been a driver of economic prosperity, previous industrial revolutions also resulted in significant social inequalities and ongoing damage to our natural world.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were agreed to by the 193 member states of the United Nations in September 2015. The Secretary-General of the UN pointed out to the UN General Assembly in September 2019 that, given the current rate of progress, the world will fail to meet the goals by 2030. The Secretary-General called upon government at all levels, the private sector, civil society, media, and academia to dramatically increase their efforts and mobilize the corresponding resources towards achieving the SDGs, marking 2020 the start of a “decade of action.”

While nation-states were the signatories to the SDGs, it is the world’s cities that represent the greatest source of positive action in the decade ahead. Cities are the engines of the global economy and generate 80% of global wealth. It is estimated that 66% of the world’s population will live in cities by 2050 with 90% of the increases coming in Africa and Asia. The achievement of virtually all of the 2030 global goals and targets requires concerted and comprehensive action in cities.

Indeed, many cities all around the world have already adopted, adapted, actioned and innovated on the SDGs. However, the emerging technologies of the 4IR enable cities to do much more, and the work can be done better, faster, and on a far greater scale. This event is designed to bring 50 global leaders from across sectors together to provoke new thinking on cities as drivers of more sustainable and equitable development, and cities as incubators for transformational 4IR technologies.

We stand at a critical juncture with an opportunity to put in place the multi-stakeholder partnerships, governance architectures, policy frameworks, and concrete actions by the private, public and non- government sectors that are needed to harness the 4th Industrial Revolution to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs, especially in cities. Join us and support a new movement for tangible action and catalyze innovative partnerships for positive change driven by technology.

Below are a few highlights Helfman shared with us:

BURNT ORANGE

Orange is still the new black! No doubt about it. It all began in 2018, with rust and a smoky shade of copper, and in 2020 it’s a stunning burnt orange. Not Halloween orange but a tasteful orange take on rust.  Its bold-but-not over the top and its fun while also very chic.  Give it a try in the new decade.  Branch out.

STATEMENT COATS

The statement coat serves a purpose (keep you warm) and should add a dash of style and personality. I say go for a coat that is unforgettable, brave and fun! With a killer statement coat, what’s underneath can be extremely simple. Let the coat do the talking.

SKIRTS WITH SLITS

This can be worn a zillion different ways. From mini to maxi and everything in between – this silhouette is flattering and omnipresent. It can take you from coffee to shopping to date night and still look perfect. Do NOT be afraid of a high dramatic slit. Give it a go.

THE TURTLENECK

Turtlenecks are here with a vengeance. It’s a chic classic that always delivers. Steve Jobs loved a good turtleneck, as did Audrey Hepburn. It’s gone from alternative cool to preppy to chic and now it’s SO 2020!

5 Ways To Be The Company Everyone Wants To Work For

If you are looking for ways by which you can steer your company in the direction such that everyone wants to become a part of it, here are some of the different ways which you can use.

Transparency

One of the key virtues of a workplace that tend to make it stand out from the others has to be the transparency level. Employees should be given the sense of feeling that no matter whether they are doing good or bad, things are always in the open. This factor in itself is known to foster the right sense of trust and thereby cements a better working relationship.

Incentives and Benefits

When employees put in their heart and soul to ensure their firm does well, it becomes your earnest duty to give something back to them. This is why as a firm; one should have the best reward sales goals in place and a good incentive program. Make sure to reward the employees for their good work and chip in with bonuses and gifts as and when applicable. This is also a great way to motivate them to walk the extra mile and do a little extra to ensure that your firm stays at the pedestal.

Equality

All employees deserve to be treated equally. It is vital that a workplace steers clear of biasness, be it economic, gender, or any other type. The bottom-line remains the fact that when an employee doesn’t feel haunted by any sort of inferiority complex; they would be willing to give in their 100 percent and stick to the firm as well.

For any company to prosper, it is important to offer the employees adequate training to treat everyone the same; regardless of their gender, religion, age, marital status, finances, or anything else. It should just be the work that should be the talking point of discussion.

Inspiring Leadership

A leader speaks volumes about the team they command. If your company has some of the most exemplary leaders who know how to keep the team inspired, the morale of the employees is sure to see a massive lift.

This is why whether you work on the hiring process to seek the best of leaders or you offer training to help your employees hone the best of leadership skills, the idea is to ensure that your workplace reeks of the best of leaders who can inspire their team to stay motivated and put in their best foot forward.

Healthy Camaraderie

While we do understand that things tend to get competitive at the workplace, the focus should always be on engaging the right spirit of friendliness and camaraderie in a firm. When the employees look to have each other’s back rather than find ways to pull them down all the time, things are much more likely to take a turn for the good.

You can host events or have some sessions which would boost the kind of mutual respect and admiration which employees have for each other. Have things like free team lunches, group outings, camps, picnics, and more. Each of these activities is sure to have some bearing on improving the relations between the employees.

Conclusion

These are the best ways by which you can make your company one of the top-rated places wherein everyone wishes to work. It is the right dedication and the best of efforts that set one company apart from the rest.

A company is known by the employees it has. No firm can prosper if the employees are not dedicated and willing to be a part of it. A strong and well-motivated workforce remains the key ingredient to success. So, keep these important points in mind and implement as much as you can. The changes should be there for you to see.

Remember, success comes to those who are willing to toil hard for it.

A heart on sleeve, piano-driven vocal house record, “Therapy” injects an anthem upon ravers. The single follows Dumont’s “The Power,” a collaboration with Moroccan-English singer-songwriter Zak Abel that has clocked up over 35 million streams worldwide.
Multi-Grammy-nominated Dumont has amassed over 2.5 billion streams across his back-catalogue of previous anthems, scoring platinum-selling UK #1 singles to timeless records such as ”Ocean Drive.”

Duke embarked on a busy tour schedule during 2019, performing at internationally renowned festivals such as Creamfields, Ultra Korea, HARD Summer, Harbourlife and Field Day. As well as travelling across the globe, Dumont also linked up with fellow chart-topper MK for three US shows at the tail-end of the year, in Washington DC, San Francisco and New York. About Duke Dumont:

Hailing from Rayners Lane (NW London) now residing in Laurel Canyon (LA), Duke Dumont was initially born deaf.  With corrective surgery this directly shaped the way he interprets sounds, with tone and timbre taking precedence over linguistics, which inadvertently shaped his approach to record making.  Since then, Duke defied all odds and proved that his well-crafted productions either become viable hits or infectious club records, boasting billions of plays across the globe.

Topping the billing on various stages worldwide, with his DJ career starting in NW London, learning his craft at such iconic institutions as Fabric (London) to Panorama Bar (Berlin) and playing some of the biggest stages from Coachella (USA) , Exit (Serbia) to Splendor In The Grass (Australia).

He has since branched out to numerous residences in Ibiza (Amnesia & Sankeys) and Las Vegas where Duke shares his philosophy; “The goal isn’t for record sales, or attention-grabbing tactics. It’s for producing records with longevity and soul. If my records can out live me, i can die happy”
