GUCCI × LION’S SHARE FUND

Gucci, one of the world’s leading luxury fashion brands, has joined The Lion’s Share Fund, a unique initiative raising much-needed funds to tackle the crisis in nature, biodiversity and climate across the globe.

Led by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and a coalition of businesses and UN partners, the Fund aims to raise over $100 million per year within the next five years for animal conservation, biodiversity and climate by asking brands to contribute 0.5% of their media spend every time an animal is featured in their advertisements.

Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator, said: “This partnership with Gucci marks the continuing evolution of this innovative fund, which provides a unique opportunity for brands across all industries to join forces and help preserve and protect biodiversity across the globe. Wildlife populations are half the size they were just 50 years ago, and their habitats and ecosystems are destroyed at an unprecedented rate due to human activity. The Lion’s Share is an idea that is as innovative as it is simple – and it makes a real impact on wildlife conservation.”

Marco Bizzarri, President and CEO of Gucci, said: “The Lion’s Share Fund is an important addition to our conservation strategy. Nature and wildlife provide Gucci with inspired creation that is an integral part of our narrative through our collections and campaigns. With the increasing threats to the planet’s biodiversity, groundbreaking initiatives like The Lion’s Share Fund have the potential to be transformative by organically connecting the business community with direct action to protect our natural habitats and most threatened species.” Bizzarri continued “In a similar way, since 2018, Gucci has been totally carbon neutral across our supply chain and we offset our remaining emissions every year through REDD+, which protects critical forests and biodiversity around the world.”

Launched in September 2018, the Fund is already having an impact, providing a grant to improve critical radio systems for law enforcement officers protecting wildlife in Mozambique’s Niassa Nature Reserve and helping reduce the elephant poaching rate to zero, and providing a grant to help secure land for endangered orangutans, elephants and tigers in North Sumatra in Indonesia.

Animals appear in approximately 20 per cent of all advertisements in the world, yet despite this, animals do not always receive the support they deserve. The Lion’s Share gives brands the opportunity to take urgent and significant action and play their part in protecting our planet.

How to Improve Creative Writing Skills in English: Tips from Experts

Strong creative writing skills can bring you a lot of benefits and even profits.

For example, they are crucial for crafting better and professional essays (though some students turn to academic essay writing services e.g. CustomWritings and never bother their heads about it)

Another big benefit of great writing skills is that they can help you land a profitable job. Good content writers and copywriters are in great demand now.

Anyways, in this blog, we’ve listed amazing tips on how you can improve your writing skills.

Read a Lot of Books

Why is reading important? It improves your writing. It gives you fresh ideas and inspiration. It serves you as an example of how you can write. It enriches your vocabulary. It shows how other writers use metaphors, stories, neologisms, etc.

It unlocks your mind to do the same. If you want to improve your creative writing skills, you should read a lot. Choose books that appeal to you. Make a reading list. Execute it.

Make Writing Your Daily Habit

Habits are very powerful. They can make or break your life. That’s why it’s very important to eliminate bad habits and cultivate good ones. For example, instead of watching Netflix you can make writing your daily habit and benefit from it.

Start small. Set the goal of writing at least 500 words a day. Write about the things that you like. Don’t skip it. Write every day even if you don’t feel like. If it’s challenging for you to write 500 words, write at least 200 words. It’s better than skipping it altogether.

Once you write 30 days in the raw, it will give you a great feeling that you can deal with the challenge. It will boost your confidence in your writing skills. Motivate yourself to do this. Think big. The best way of mastering your writing skills is practice.  Once you master them writing can become a source of income for you as you can land a good writing job.

Here’s another benefit. It’ll be easier for you to complete your essays and writing assignments.

Master the Art of Storytelling

The ability to tell a good story is crucial for any kind of creative writing. Storytelling can bring your copy, content or essay to a new level if you learn how to integrate it smoothly into your piece of writing.

The reason behind this lies in the fact that everybody likes stories. For centuries, people have been telling each other stories and learning from them.

A story creates an emotional bond between you and your readers. Nowadays storytelling is widely used in advertising.

Pixar team is full of true masters of storytelling. If you’d like to learn from them, we recommend you check this free course

Participate in Writing Competitions

There are various online writing competitions out there. Some of them grant some set amount of cash as a prize. Some contests can land you a scholarship.

So, it can be a good idea to search for these writing competitions and participate in them. Not only they help you master your writing but also they give you an opportunity for an additional income.

Write Essays on Topics That You Like

Choose the topic that is interesting for you and write an essay on it. Do it once or 2 times a month. Do it for fun. It will improve your research and writing skills sufficiently.

Start Your Own Blog

Choose a niche that appeals to you. Don’t go too broad. For example, instead of cooking, it’s better to choose cooking for busy moms. Do detailed research to see what’s already been done. Think about how you can monetize blogging. There are 3 main ways to do this:

  • Affiliate program.
  • Adsense or putting banners of other companies/products on your site.
  • Collecting emails and selling your own product to your subscribers.

Start to blog weekly. You can use WordPress for free to do this.

Write Engaging Posts on Social Media

You can start posting meaningful posts on social media. Instead of using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc. for having fun, you can use them to write posts that are useful for other people.

In this way, you can master your writing skills, build a loyal audience, and monetize on it later.

Subscribe to a Newsletter

Tyson Fury has built a great brand but has it come at the cost of his boxing legacy?

Few boxers or even sportsmen for that matter have been able to generate the revenue that Tyson Fury has over the last 18 months. The Englishman has done what many thought impossible after he spent three years outside the ring and ballooned up to over 300 pounds in what was the darkest period of his life.

It was only after beating Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf that Fury’s life began to get away from him. Then a charge of doping that saw his license suspended proved to be the eventual straw that broke the camel’s back. The dark days, however, would pass after Fury linked up with trainer Ben Davison and together they began an exercise program that would see the boxer lose ten stone.

Before long Fury was back in the ring and after a few warm-up fights he was able to take Deontay Wilder all the way in a bout that was deemed to be a draw. It was a controversial decision as many considered Fury to have won, but regardless of the result, the world could see that Fury was back. Fury will, however, be able to right any wrongs when he faces Wilder again and this time he goes in as the favourite priced at 8/11 in the latest boxing odds. The boxing world will stand still for that fight but it was the initial match with Wilder that put Fury’s name up in lights again.

After that night at the Staples Center, the Englishman signed a five-fight contract with ESPN worth £80m. At this stage, Fury was more than making up for lost time and became the cover face of boxing yet again which prompted the WWE to invite him to make a cameo appearance during one of their shows. One thing led to another and given how successful Fury’s debut was, he ended up fighting someone called Braun Strowman in an event in Saudi Arabia.

Fury’s “purse” (it may be a strong word given that we know the WWE is scripted) for this fight was in the region of £12m. As mentioned, no one in sport has been able to generate the income that Fury has when the chips looked so down. The boxer is now a household name in the United Kingdom and America and currently, his stock couldn’t be higher.

At what cost has this all come though? Will Fury still have the same appeal to boxing fans after dabbling in the WWE? The money certainly won’t dry up but Fury could have sacrificed his legacy in the boxing world for the sake of his brand by linking up with the WWE.

The boxer himself may already be one step ahead. He seems quite unfazed about not being remembered as one of the greatest of all time when he can get the same payday in the WWE ring without running the risk of actually being hurt. You have to hand it to Tyson Fury, in the space of 18 months he has built an empire that will remain for many generations to come.

Is 2020 Going to be Your Lucky Year?

Are you the sort of person that believes in superstitions? Do you cross the road when you catch sight of a black cat? Do you think that by crossing your fingers you can create good outcomes?

Well, while these may seem like eccentric ways to either ward off bad luck or make things go your way, there’s a good chance that you can have at least a modicum of control over whether luck is on your side. That’s because there is more than just a grain of truth in the expression “you make your own luck”.

So, let’s start with that familiar object, the lucky charm. It may be an item of jewelry, an old coin or, if you’re slightly more traditional, a rabbit’s foot. It could even be a ritual that you go through to prepare yourself for what lies ahead. You might be surprised to discover that a number of psychological research projects have found lucky charms do work. This isn’t because they have any innate qualities, but simply by having them it puts us more in the mindset that we’re somewhat ‘protected’ and are, therefore, more likely to succeed.

See it, and it will happen

Positive visualization is a phrase that we all hear on a regular basis, particularly from sportspeople preparing themselves for a big event. While some might dismiss it as wishful thinking, there is a considerable body of evidence that it can be highly effective, In his book, Psycho-Cybernetics, Maxwell Maltz explains that what we are effectively doing is tricking our brains into making the unknown, known. And once we have dismissed the fear of the unknown, almost anything is possible.

On an even deeper, more neurological, level we are also resetting our brain’s reticular activating system. This is a filter that tells us what is important to notice and what can be ignored. By acting out positive visualization, it makes us more clearly focused on what really matters.

Practical, positive affirmations

Taking things a little further still, supporting our positive visualizations with positive affirmations can also help to create what we might otherwise refer to as luck. These everyday mantras can be used to shore up our self-confidence as well as to state what we would ideally like to happen. By setting aside a little time each day in a peaceful environment it soon becomes a habit – and once embedded in the psyche, we’re in a great mental state for good things to start happening to us.

Remember, luck does exist

At this point, it might be a good idea to take a quick time out from the advice on making your own luck to acknowledge that luck can really be random and strike when we’re least expecting it. When it does, there’s a real sense of gratification, whether it’s finding that parking spot when there seemed to be no chance, or enjoying a surprise win in an online casino game; the sheer pleasure that these things bring you, no matter how small, really does make you feel like the universe is on our side.

Do unto others . . .

Luck, or our perception of it, also has a great deal to do with the way that the people around us regard how we relate to them. So ace-ing that interview and getting that dream job may not just be a stroke of luck, it will have been a combination of your aptitude for the role and the way you’ve come across to the interview panel. At the most basic level, being polite and considerate will always be more favored qualities than brashness and rudeness.

However, if we broaden things out to include acts like being a good neighbor, and showing forgiveness to people who we think have wronged us in the past, then it becomes a kind of virtuous circle in which good things really do happen to good people.

For a healthy and happy 2020, be sure to follow these pointers, but don’t forget about the importance of easing the pressure off yourself from time-to-time. Remind yourself it’s ok to take a breath, relax, and have a much-needed glass of wine. Keep all this in mind, and  you could be on your way to enjoying one of your luckiest years ever.
