R&B/Hip-Hop powerhouse and burgeoning entrepreneur Blxst continues impacting the culture in profound and innovative ways. Today, the LA-native announces a partnership with Chicago-based Streetwear Boutique Jugrnaut, label partners Red Bull Records, and his Evgle LLC imprint for a clothing collection. 
 
The Blxst/Evgle LLC x Jugrnaut x Red Bull Records My City to Chi City collaboration will include an athletic wear-inspired 4-piece clothing capsule. The line will debut at a 3-day pop-up during Lollapalooza at Jugrnaut’s flagship store, just 5 minutes down the road from the festival. Blxst will launch the pop-up and clothing capsule on Friday, July 29th with an in-store meet-and-greet.
 
In addition to the Jugrnaut collab, Blxst also tapped celebrity jacket designer Jeff Hamilton (Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant) for a one-of-a-kind jacket to commemorate the release of his latest project Before You Go.  The clothing capsule will also include a limited drop of a consumer-facing leather and wool jacket resembling Blxst’s for fans and collectors. The jacket bundle will include a branded garment bag and a collectible design sketch drawn by Jeff Hamilton.
 
Fans not attending Lollapalooza will be able to get in on the action and purchase the My City to Chi City clothing capsule via a 3D immersive microsite. The microsite will host an interactive e-commerce experience of the clothing capsule, a short film about the collaboration between Jugrnaut and Blxst, an official Apple Maps Guide listing must-see Chicago locations curated by Jugrnaut, Red Bull Records, and Blxst, and more – also available to view HERE.

Blxst has architected a new era of West Coast hip-hop and culture by hand as not only a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer but also as a creative visionary who mixes, masters, and self-edits his own videos and artwork. JEFF HAMILTON:
Jeff Hamilton began his career as a fashion designer in Paris France. When he arrived in the US he forced his way into the top fashion circles making a name for himself as the creative genius behind Guess? for Men. After leaving Guess? Jeff began designing leather jackets that were much more than articles of clothing. Simply stated: “they were pieces of art”. Soon, Jeff had athletes, entertainers and world leaders beating a path to his door for the pleasure of being draped in one of his remarkable designs. Before long Jeff expanded his idea into the world of sports culminating in the creation of a jacket line that became a must-have for athletes, celebrities and sports-fans alike.  Along the way people began to take notice of the aesthetic beauty of Jeff’s unique designs and workmanship with hand-cut leather appliqués, accented with finely tuned embroidery and occasionally fashioned with metal and or stone adornment. Rose took the stage at 2 a.m. performing saucy hits including “Psycho,” “Big Mouth” and her latest single, “Wifey.”  After her set, she hung out and danced with friends at their booth while sipping on Moet Nectar Rose, Hennessy and Casamigos Blanco.

Critically acclaimed K-Pop superstars ITZY returned with their highly anticipated EP, CHECKMATE, which took the #8 spot on the Billboard 200 chart this week, marking the group’s first top-10 ranking on the chart. Further, the group has become the 4th K-pop girl group to achieve a top 10 ranking on the Billboard 200.
 
ITZY recently performed the EP’s lead single, “SNEAKERS,” on both MTV’s Fresh Out Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show Me Music.” The track’s music video has already amassed over 78 million views since release and currently holds the #5 ranking on YouTube’s Top 100 Global Music Videos.
 
Quickly following this achievement, it was announced today that the group has been nominated for their first MTV VMA in the category of “Best K-Pop” for their “LOCO” music video. Next up, ITZY will be embarking on their first world tour, the CHECKMATE tour, beginning with back-to-back shows in Seoul in August before heading to the United States in October. The group will be visiting eight cities through November including Los Angeles’ YouTube Theater and New York’s Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden.
 
CHECKMATE follows a momentous 2021 for ITZY, as the group broke numerous personal records on both the charts and with streams and helped solidify ITZY as one of K-Pop’s dominating forces thus far. Polestar Cars Finds Majority of US Drivers Don’t Purchase Electric Vehicles for Environmental Reasons

  • New survey reveals 55% US drivers purchase an electric car for reasons other than environmental benefits
  • Almost half of respondents are open to buying an electric car from a new brand, many more than with a gasoline powered vehicle
  • Generational differences affect rationale for electric car purchase

Polestar, the Swedish premium electric performance car brand, has conducted research that has found that 55 percent of US drivers purchase electric cars for reasons other than environmental benefits. In-vehicle technology, seamless connectivity and infotainment system offerings have been named as the most important decisions for consumers switching to an electric car from an internal-combustion vehicle.

“The idea of luxury being defined by what’s ‘under the hood’ has been replaced in the electric era with the prioritization of seamless connectivity, integration into existing digital ecosystems, and good UX design,” said Gregor Hembrough, Head of Polestar North America. “People are switching to electric cars for more than just environmental reasons, and Polestar’s focus on in-vehicle technology means they can have everything they want in an environmentally friendly package.”

Polestar 2 was the first vehicle to market with the revolutionary Google-developed infotainment system. The system features Google built-in, including industry-leading voice control via Google Assistant. This enables control of functions using natural voice commands, including navigation through Google Maps, the climate system, music, phone and more.

Brand image also makes a difference to consumers based on age demographics. Fifty-seven percent of millennials (ages 25 to 40) are confident in new electric car brands compared to only 28 percent of Baby Boomers (ages 57 to 75). Nearly half (46 percent) of all respondents are more open to new brands and start-ups such as Polestar when it comes to purchasing an electric car.

Despite eco-consciousness not necessarily being a driving factor for over half of respondents, younger drivers are also much more concerned with appearing environmentally conscious compared to their older counterparts. For Gen Z respondents (ages 18-24), image is a big factor, with 12 percent saying it would be the most important consideration when choosing an electric car compared to an internal-combustion vehicle. That is twice as many as Millennials (ages 25-41), and more than three times as many as Baby Boomers ages (57-74).

To obtain this data, Polestar commissioned a third-party survey, fielded earlier this year with more than 5,000 electric and internal combustion drivers across all 50 US states. The survey questioned drivers on the state of electric car acceptance, charging infrastructure, and the perception of electric car brands when purchasing a vehicle.

Sainsbury’s partners with Williams Advanced Engineering and gives green light to sustainable start-ups with £5 million investment

As part of its pledge to reach Net Zero in its own operations by 2035, Sainsbury’s has announced the launch of Sainsbury’s Innovation Investments which will invest a minimum of £5 million over the next four years into start-up businesses commercialising innovative, sustainable technologies that look to reduce operational carbon emissions and water usage.

Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE) will scout and invest into early-stage companies, not limited to the Sainsbury’s supply chain, across a range of sectors. The first investment is expected to be announced before the end of 2022. In addition to providing much needed investment, Sainsbury’s is looking to accelerate dynamic start-ups and Small/Medium Enterprises (SME’s) in developing, testing, and deploying transformational technology that can reduce carbon emissions and water usage.

This announcement furthers the significant progress Sainsbury’s has already made in reducing its impact on the environment, having drastically cut its carbon emissions in its own operations by 762,119 tCO2e, a reduction of 7 per cent year-on-year and 20 per cent from its 2018/19 baseline, keeping the retailer on course to meet its Net Zero target of 2035.

Sainsbury’s Innovation Investments is part of Sainsbury’s ongoing partnership with WAE, a world-leading technology and engineering services business, which combines cutting-edge technological advances and the industry’s best engineers; accelerating the drive for zero emissions.

In 2017, Sainsbury’s began the process of installing innovative Aerofoil technology to its fridges in-store. Since then, the pioneering energy-saving technology, collaboratively developed by UK start-up Aerofoil Energy and WAE, has been rolled out across the entire estate, resulting in an estimated 15% energy-reduction, with other retailers since following suit.

“We are committed to reaching our Net Zero target of 2035 and are proud to be doing our part in leading the way to create solutions that will reduce carbon emissions and water usage not just in our stores, but across the entire sector. We know that reducing emissions and water use is a critical part of tackling the climate crisis and to achieve this, we understand the importance of investing in pioneering technologies that can be adopted by all retailers.”

WAKANDA FOREVER PROLOGUE

Following Saturday’s release of the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, the Wakanda Forever Prologue EP is available today. Listen and watch the visualizer music clips here.

As highlighted in the official teaser, the EP includes the powerful cover of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ “No Woman No Cry” performed by Nigerian artist Tems. The project is produced by Oscar, GRAMMY and Emmy-winning composer Ludwig Göransson, and also features “A Body, A Coffin” performed by Ghanian artist Amaarae and “Soy” by Mexican rapper Santa Fe Klan.

Commenting on the inspiration behind this prologue, Ryan Coogler and Goransson shared, This Prologue is an aural first glimpse ofWakanda Forever. The sound world for the film began with extended trips to Mexico and Nigeria. We spent our days working with traditional musicians who educated us about the cultural, social and historical contexts of their music. We built a catalogue of instrumental and vocal recordings with them that explored both traditional and non-traditional uses of their musical material. During the nights on these trips, we had recording sessions with contemporary artists who were akin to the characters and thematic material explored in the film. Using the script as a blueprint, along with the recordings from the traditional musicians, we began to build a musical vocabulary for the characters, storylines and cultures. The instrumental score and soundtrack forWakanda Forever both organically grew from these sessions and workshops. They are conceived together as a singular entity to create an immersive and enveloping sound world for the film.

Visitors will marvel as model trains zip through an enchanting display of more than 190 New York landmarks, each delightfully re-created from natural materials such as birch bark, lotus pods, and cinnamon sticks. As day turns to night on select dates, families, and friends can start a new holiday tradition exploring the Botanical Garden’s festively illuminated landscape and enjoying music, food, and more at NYBG GLOW, the expanded outdoor color-and-light experience. It will be the perfect night out this holiday season.

The Holiday Train Show opens to the public on Saturday, November 19, 2022, and will be on view through Sunday, January 22, 2023. NYBG GLOW will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. on 23 nights starting Friday, November 18, 2022, and running through Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Tickets for both the Holiday Train Show and NYBG GLOW will be available for NYBG Members beginning Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Tickets for the general public will be available for purchase beginning Thursday, September 15, 2022.

The Holiday Train Show features a miniature wonderland in the warmth of the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. Famous New York landmarks, including the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Rockefeller Center, and many other favorites, are crafted from natural materials such as pine cones, acorns, and seeds. Visitors can enjoy the Holiday Train Show during the day or see favorite buildings light up at night under the glow of the Haupt Conservatory. Combination tickets to the Holiday Train Show and NYBG GLOW will once again be available.

Returning for its third year, NYBG GLOW offers visitors the opportunity to discover the beauty of NYBG’s landscape and historic buildings, breathtakingly illuminated across the Garden. Building upon sold-out evenings the past two years, NYBG GLOW, New York City’s largest outdoor holiday light experience, expands across even more of the Garden’s magnificent collections, including an all-new glowing display in the Native Plant Garden. During these special evenings, NYBG‘s iconic sights and buildings, including the Haupt Conservatory and the LuEsther T. Mertz Library Building, become dramatic, glittering canvases. Washes of brilliant color; thousands of dazzling, energy-efficient LED lights; and whimsical, picture-perfect installations reflect the surrounding gardens and collections, creating a spectacle not to be missed. Beverages and light fare will be available at one of NYBG‘s outdoor bars or the Bronx Night Market Holiday Pop-Up, and festive, fun-filled offerings will include artistic, music, and pop-up performances around the Garden.

Big Sean and Meek Mill Lead All-Star Labor Day Weekend Lineup of Drai’s LIVE Performances

Drai’s Beachclub • Nightclub will host parties day and night throughout the holiday weekend

This Labor Day weekend Drai’s Beachclub • Nightclub is taking things to the next-level from Friday, Sept. 2 to Monday, Sept. 5 with top-tier performances, day and night. Located on the 11th story rooftop of The Cromwell in the center of the Las Vegas Strip, Drai’s will host incredible Drai’s LIVE performances by icons Big SeanMeek Mill, and more.

On Friday, Sept. 2 guests are invited to soak up the sun at Drai’s Beachclub. On Friday, Sept. 2 multi-platinum artist, Big Sean, will jumpstart the celebration with a nightclub performance, followed by a daytime performance at the Beachclub on Saturday, Sept. 3. He’s expected to perform smash hits like “I Don’t F*ck with you” and “So Good” featuring Kash Doll.

Grammy-nominated artist, Meek Mill, will keep the party going with a nightclub performance on Saturday, Sept. 3 followed by a daytime performance at the Beachclub on Sunday, Sept. 4. He’s expected to hype up the crowd with fan favorites like “Dreams and Nightmares” and “Going Bad” featuring Drake.

LIGHTNING SEEDS – WALK

After being welcomed back with open arms, Lightning Seeds continue their trajectory with the release of brand new track ‘Walk Another Mile’ – taken from their new album See You In The Stars, their first on new label BMG – out October 14th. Listen HERE.

A sun-soaked, bouncing singalong, ‘Walk Another Mile’ is a juxtaposition, seeing Ian Broudie tackling subject matters a little darker.

“It’s about two imaginary people arguing about the end of a relationship and blaming each other,” he explains. “I had that thought and was thinking about endings. I was listening to a lot of Northern Soul, and the little vignettes you can get in those songs. I love writers who can do that, write stories – Squeeze, The Kinks, Eminem. I always start off doing that, but end up nowhere near it, so this song is the closest I’m going to get to that.”

This intoxicating 10 track collection is tunefully, emotionally, uplifting and kick started the summer with the feel good warmth of first track ‘Sunshine’ – listen HERE. One of the album highlights, ‘Emily Smiles,’ was co-written with Specials man Terry Hall, whom Ian wrote Jollification’s ‘Lucky You.’

All songs on this ten track opus were written and recorded in short bursts over the last three years. The first two songs recorded were a pair written with the Coral’s James Skelly: ‘Great To Be Alive’ and ‘Live To Love You’.

“I always think music’s like attack and defense in football –or like politics – or like life. It’s about balance,” Broudie says. “And achieving that is the challenge for me.”

In 33 years as a recording artist, the man who is Lightning Seeds has sold a lot of records. Those include a million copies of Jollification, the 1994 album whose platinum-tipped success was spearheaded by era-capturing hit single “Change,” and which Broudie recently celebrated with a sold-out, 25th anniversary tour.

Broudie composed “Three Lions” as the official England song for Euro ’96. With lyrics by comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner, the song hit Number One and became a genuinely era-defining anthem – and one with a remarkable afterlife, as it regained the top slot two years later, during the 1998 World Cup in France. It was everywhere during last summer’s Euros, too, wasn’t it? Football didn’t quite come home (again), but one of the Nineties greatest songs did.

Much like the sound of Ian’s voice, like an old friend coming back into your life.

The band will also embark on a 14 date UK tour later this year kicking off October 27th in Cambridge and finishing November 26th in Sheffield. They play London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire November 4th. Tickets are available HERE.
