Fire in Little Africa – Elevator

FIRE IN LITTLE AFRICA ALBUM OUT NOW + POWERFUL VISUAL FOR ELEVATOR VIA MOTOWN RECORDS/BLACK FORUM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BOB DYLAN CENTER AND WOODY GUTHRIE CENTER, Album Brings Fresh And Important Perspective To The 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre And Celebrates The City’s Vibrant Hip Hop Scene, LISTEN & STREAM FIRE IN LITTLE AFRICA HERE, WATCH ELEVATOR VISUAL HERE

Fire in Little Africa, a groundbreaking album of original material, written and recorded by a collective of Oklahoma hip hop artists to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Tulsa Race Massacre, will be released on May 28 by Motown Records/Black Forum in partnership with Tulsa’s Bob Dylan Center and Woody Guthrie Center.

The 21-track collection gets to the truth of what happened on May 31 and June 1, 1921 when a white mob descended on the streets of Greenwood, then a prosperous Tulsa neighborhood known as Black Wall Street, and burned down the business district, destroying roughly 1,500 homes, killing hundreds and leaving thousands of Black Tulsans homeless. For years, this historic, albeit dire, chapter was left out of classrooms and textbooks as the city attempted to erase this part of its past. The artists heard on Fire in Little Africa get to the truth through urgent songs, recalling stories told and stories lived in hope to usher in a new era for Tulsa as they help the community process this generational trauma through music.

‘Fire in Little Africa’ is a powerful and timely project that provides a platform and outlet for the incredibly talented and thriving music community of Tulsa, Oklahoma, said Motown Records Chairman & CEO, Ethiopia Habtemariam. Carrying the legacy of the Black Wall Street community, ‘Fire in Little Africa’ is a body of work filled with purpose and prolific storytelling. I am honored and feel privileged to have Motown Records/Black Forum partner with Dr. View, the Bob Dylan Center and Guthrie Center to release this impactful hip-hop album.

I am honored to be a part of the ‘Fire In Little Africa’ album featuring the musical contributions of young talented local artists from my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. This tragedy has been suppressed for generations. Charlie Wilson continues, Growing up in Tulsa we named our band, The GAP Band, after Greenwood, Archer and Pine Streets, the wealthiest and most successful African American community in the United States in the early 20th century. I am proud to see a new generation of talented Tulsans continue to tell the story of our ancestors. They are opening the door for many generations to come by shedding light not only on the race massacre but the excellence of the Black Wall Street and Greenwood community.

Stevie Dr. View Johnson, PhD, Manager, Education & Diversity Outreach at the Woody Guthrie Center|Bob Dylan Center and the album’s executive producer added, Fire in Little Africa has evolved into a communal hip hop movement and we’re excited that we get to share the flavor, history and legacy of Black Wall Street with the world, in collaboration with the amazing leadership of the Motown/Black Forum family. We’re grateful for Ethiopia’s foresight in providing us an opportunity to share our important stories with the world. There are Black Wall Streets across the diaspora and we unequivocally know that ‘Fire in Little Africa’ will inspire many people. In the words of Steph Simon, ‘everything is us.’

In this feature Rolling Stone noted, ‘Fire in Little Africa’ is poised to teach the world about that long-suppressed history, from locals who grew up in a community that still lives with the aftermath of the massacre. Just as important, the artists involved in the project also hope it serves as a launching-pad moment for Tulsa’s hip-hop scene, which has long flown under the national radar.

The album was recorded in Greenwood over a five-day period in March 2020. Studios were set up at the Greenwood Cultural Center and other locations, including the former home of 1921 massacre mastermind/KKK leader Tate Brady. The house is now owned by former NFL first-round draft pick and Tulsa native Felix Jones. The Tulsa World was on hand to speak with the artists involved in the historic sessions. Read the article HERE and check out the accompanying video HERE.

‘Fireside with Dr. View’ is a weekly podcast featuring Dr. View in conversation with thought leaders in activism, academia and culture, centered on the movement behind the Fire in Little Africa music. Listen to Fireside with Dr. View HERE. Hosts Ali Shaw and Doc Free sit down with Fire in Little Africa artists, Tulsa community leaders and national voices for conversations on music and culture in the Fire in Little Africa podcast, which can be found HERE.

Located in the Tulsa Arts District, the Woody Guthrie Center opened in 2013. The Bob Dylan Center is expected to open on the same block within the next year. Both are projects of the George Kaiser Family Foundation, the primary funder for Fire in Little Africa. The album is chronicled in a documentary film, which will be released later this year.

Fire in Little Africa marks the first new material released by Black Forum since the label’s relaunch earlier this year. Black Forum originally debuted in 1970 with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Why I Oppose The War In Vietnam, which won a GRAMMY Award for Best Spoken Word Album. The label reissued Dr. King’s influential speech earlier this year.

Today, St. Louis based duo River Kittens are thrilled to release their debut EP Soaking Wet via Devon Allman’s Create Records, recorded at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis, TN.

We were so thrilled for the opportunity to work with Devon Allman on Soaking Wet. It was truly a blast from start to finish. We can’t even describe how honored and humbled we are to have tracked these songs at Sun Studios. It was so surreal for us to be able to add our small contribution to the history of such a legendary space. We really feel that this record is quintessentially River Kittens, brutally honest, tons of fun, and slow and sweet when it needs to be

I’m so proud of what River Kittens accomplished on this debut EP, says Allman. They have this amazing balance of pure, poignant depth mixed with this infectious, upbeat approach to their music that I think many people will resonate with. It was an honor to produce their introduction to the world. Very proud to have them on my label and we expect great things from these talented ladies.

Along with the release of the band’s debut EP, the duo is thrilled to share the official music video for Trouble

About River Kittens

River Kittens, Allie Vogler and Mattie Schell sound like they’ve been singing together their entire lives. They sing like angels and fight like sisters, even though the pair first met and sang together at a metal bar in 2014. They’re salty and sweet, and sometimes sour too, but their two unique approaches blend together perfectly. River Kittens’ effortless harmonies and honest songwriting can move an audience to laughter or tears, sometimes both.

Woozy and glowing, but the London pop star packs seemingly endless, subtly insistent hooks into this surrender from a relationship’s dying days – The Guardian

The hotly tipped singer combines vocal nuance and restraint, nagging hooks, languorous slow-disco grooves and candid lyrics, with beautiful results – The Sunday Times Culture

Written in Los Angeles with Delilah’s new confidant and acclaimed producer Robin Hannibal the anthemic track charts Montagu’s journey towards self-love and discovering pride in her identity – Notion

Keep your eye on this one – L’Officiel

23 yo Londoner Delilah Montagu today returns with her brand-new single Coming For Ya out now. Marking a total departure from the brooding and melancholy, the new music – which is co-produced by BRIT Award winning Fred again… and his little brother Benjy Gibson – sees Delilah embrace a new sense of self and freedom, as she becomes the narrator on this project born out of lockdown isolation.

On Coming For Ya, Delilah discovers a new acceptance in her own sexuality, whilst in the official video she explores real life couples of all sexualities and backgrounds; I’ve had girlfriends and boyfriends, but I don’t identify strongly with being gay, straight or bisexual, says Delilah. I now know that this fluidity can be freeing. It doesn’t mean I’m confused and I don’t need a label.

On the new single Delilah has also enlisted the talents of the Billie Eilish approved TikTok sensation Towa Bird who helps fuel the explosion of expression via her killer guitar riffs.

About Delilah Montagu

Debut EP In Gold introduced Delilah in 2019 with its pensive soulful rumination on coming-of-age. This energy soon flourished further with the release of this year’s This Is Not A Love Song EP and it’s streaming hit Loud, produced with Robin Hannibal (Drake, Rhye, Anderson. Paak). Reeling from her performance of Drive (a collaboration with Black Coffee – #1 most streamed domestic single on Spotify ever in South Africa) at the online Global Citizen concert, curated by Lady Gaga – Delilah then released singles Version Of Me, Loud and Us, all garnering critical acclaim from the likes of The Sunday Times Culture, i-D, The Independent, Wonderland, Numero, The Guardian and L’Officiel to name a few.

Influenced by the likes of Leonard Cohen, Phoebe Bridgers, Carole King, Arlo Parks, Lizzo, Bon Iver and St. Vincent, Delilah is taking a total departure from the melancholy, to just fucking express yourself on her latest project. Written and produced with Benjy Gibson, and featuring collaborations with Fred again… and guitarist Towa Bird, the forthcoming BABY EP will be the soundtrack to your post-lockdown freedom as Delilah matures dramatically both as a songwriter and as a person.

Jonas Blue × Léon – Hear Me Say

JONAS BLUE AND LÉON RELEASE EUPHORIC HOUSE SINGLE HEAR ME SAY, Tickets On Sale Now for Summer DJ residency at Resorts World in Las Vegas, Listen to Hear Me Say HERE

Multi-platinum producer and songwriter Jonas Blue is back today with the euphoric Hear Me Say, a dizzying house track with rising Swedish pop star Léon. Built around anthemic vocals and caffeinated drum rushes, the single arrives right on time, at the cusp of a summer of packed dancefloors, sweaty festivals, and breezy days in the company of friends. Listen here via Astralwerks and view the lyric video here.

Hear Me Say is a hands-in-the-air house track, designed to soundtrack reckless abandon. Neon synth programming gilds Léon’s affecting vocal, magnifying the depths of the emotion. Jonas’ production is detailed but tasteful, nodding both to the fizzy history of rave music and sleek classic house tracks. As Léon sings of romance lost and found, the track builds to a buoyant climax, underscoring one of dance music’s great promises. No matter how you’re feeling when you get to the club, you can always dance through the pain.

Hear Me Say is about a relationship that seemed perfect but the couple drifted apart somewhere along the way, Jonas explains. They will always love each other, and will cherish the memories they created, but it was just not meant to be. It’s about having a voice, and people hearing your voice. It’s about expressing your feelings and not holding back what you want to say.

I’m so happy that this song is finally coming out, Léon adds. It came from a very honest place and I think we all felt how special it was the day we wrote it. I love that it turned out to be a song that you want to dance to, how Jonas made it feel so uplifting and powerful with his production on top of it. It almost has this 90’s feel to it. Can’t wait to see how people feel about it!

This new single is just the latest in a long string of uplifting dance anthems for Jonas Blue. Hear Me Say follows March’s Something Stupid with R&B singer AWA, which also received a stylish video from world-renowned filmmaker and photographer Rankin. These new singles have only further established Jonas as a global dance-pop powerhouse. Thanks to tracks like his beloved Perfect Strangers, he’s been certified platinum over 120 times across the world, attained over 13 billion streams, and sold over 60 million singles. These numbers put him in rarified air, even in the realms of pop music, but they wouldn’t mean anything without tasteful, infectious singles like Hear Me Say to back it up.

Soon after the release of Hear Me Say, Jonas is also plotting a return to live shows. He’s set to perform a sold-out show at London’s Ministry of Sound on June 25. Later this summer, he’ll begin a DJ residency at Resorts World Las Vegas. In partnership with Zouk Group, the first shows are set to take place on July 30 and Aug 13 at AYU DAYCLUB. Tickets are available now. This busy schedule, like Hear Me Say, is proof of Jonas’ continued innovation and attention to detail. Even though he’s on top of the world, he’s still pushing himself with every track and making people dance along the way.

About Jonas Blue

Jonas Blue’s career has been felt the world over with singles like Fast Car, Perfect Strangers, Rise, Mama and Polaroid collectively having been certified platinum over 120 times around the globe. With over 13 billion global streams and over 60 million singles sales to date, Jonas has cemented his name as a main stage DJ and pop powerhouse.

2018 was a landmark year. He released Rise featuring Jack & Jack, which was one of the summer’s biggest global hits, and owned the autumn with Polaroid – his highly anticipated collab with Liam Payne and Lennon Stella. The success of both hits was sandwiched between Back & Forth with Becky Hill and Detroit house legend, MK. Debut album Blue soon followed, the recipient of the Brit Certified Breakthrough Award and later gold status.

Jonas has made his mark on Ibiza, having performed at hotspots Ushuaia, Cafe Mambo and has successfully hosted his Electronic Nature residency at superclub Ibiza. As we see a return to live performances in 2021, Jonas will be joining Tiesto and Zedd as a resident DJ at Zouk in Las Vegas.

Following on from hits Mistakes and Naked in 2020, Something Stupid featuring AWA kicked off his 2021 in style, smashing its way into homes worldwide as Jonas continues to inspire, uplift, and spread his message of global positivity.

About Léon

Léon released her self-titled album in 2019, after earning a cult-following since her 2015 debut single. The critically acclaimed Swedish artist has consistently delivered with every project, demonstrating her knack for crafting emotive, tender, and unforgettable pop songs. Having amassed over 600 million global streams to date, she is a regular critics’ favorite in the press, racking up praise from the likes of Vogue, Glamour, In-Style, The FADER, and more. In addition to making her late-night television debut on The Late Late Show with James Corden, she has sold out headline shows worldwide and performed at U.S. festival staples including Coachella, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza.

Tesher × Jason Derulo – Jalebi Baby

BOLLYWOOD HOLLYWOOD DUO TESHER X JASON DERULO RELEASE REIMAGINED JALEBI BABY, View Visualizer Video HERE, Combined Global Streams Of Jalebi Baby Surpass 100 Million, Tesher Signs Worldwide Deal With Capitol Records In Partnership With Universal Music India

Canadian-Indian rapper/producer Tesher and award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Derulo team up to reimagine Tesher’s global hit, Jalebi Baby. Listen here and view the accompanying visualizer video here.

My goal has always been to bring cultures together and create music that anyone can enjoy, regardless of language or background, said Tesher. Seeing ‘Jalebi Baby’ find listeners all over the world has been amazing, as has seeing big Billboard hits that donߣt neatly fit into one genre or aren’t completely in English. It just shows that people are not only open to hearing new and unique sounds, they crave them.

Jalebi Baby, which riffs on the classic South Asian dessert jalebi, was originally released in 2020. With its incredibly catchy chorus, effortless blend of English and Punjabi lyrics and Latin-flavored production, the song quickly became a viral sensation, topping the Shazam charts in 25+ countries and inspiring millions of videos across social media platforms. Jalebi Baby has amassed over 100 million combined global streams to date.

Tesher recently signed a new worldwide deal with Capitol Records in partnership with Universal Music India. This agreement will see Tesher’s music released through a unique partnership between Capitol Records in the U.S. and Universal Music India, who will focus on building his rapidly expanding popularity across India, South Asia and throughout its vast diaspora, whilst finding new fans around the world. In recent years, Universal Music India has led the Indian music market in the expansion of the non-film music, and hip-hop in India, challenging the dominance of Bollywood music on the charts and accelerating the growth of original artists and music within the domestic Indian music market and beyond.

About Tesher

Tesher, a multilingual rapper, singer-songwriter, producer and mixing engineer is bringing South Asian influences to the global soundscape in ways never heard before. His Canadian upbringing and Indian heritage have led him to create genre-defying and energetic music that resonates with audiences beyond his dual identity. Following in the footsteps of K-Pop and Latin acts before him, Tesher authentically bridges the gap between the cultures – owning the narrative and his South Asian identity through his innovative music.

After years of independently uploading his music to YouTube and Soundcloud, Tesher earned widespread recognition for his remix of Lil Nas X’s Old Town Road ft. Billy Ray Cyrus. The remix, which sampled music and lyrics from AR Rahman’s Bollywood hit Ramta Jogi, became a hit on social media and grew Tesher’s online profile. Tesher’s Young Shahrukh, an original hip-hop song inspired by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, continued Tesher’s string of viral hits and was his first to reach #1 on the BBC Asian Music Chart following its release in 2020.

Standing at the forefront of the globalization of music, Tesher equally belongs to both the East and the West. His career skyrocketed in 2020 when he added his own vocals to his remix of Justin Bieber’s Yummy. After his vocals blew up on TikTok and Instagram, Tesher found fans begging him to create an independent solo record. With that vote of confidence, he was inspired to create Jalebi Baby. The song has since become a viral sensation, hitting #1 on the Shazam charts in 20+ countries and amassing more than 100 million combined global streams.

About Jason Derulo

Forward-thinking, genre-defying, and massively creative, Jason Derulo has staked his claim as one of the most dynamic forces on the global pop landscape. Since breaking through with his five-times-platinum single Whatcha Say, the award-winning singer/songwriter has sold more than 200 million records worldwide. His latest triumphs include emerging as one of TikTok’s most influential users, boasting the 11th overall biggest account on the video-sharing platform, prevailing as the fourth-most-followed male, and regularly amassing over five million views per TikTok post. Now at work on his highly anticipated fifth album and full-length debut for Atlantic Records, Derulo recently delivered a series of smash singles while operating as an independent artist. Those tracks include the wildly catchy Lifestyle feat. Adam Levine, Take You Dancing (a pandemic-era love song that’s inspired over a half-million videos on TikTok), and the double-platinum Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat), a collaboration with New Zealand-based producer Jawsh 685 that hit No. 1 on Top 40 radio, with its official BTS remix reaching the top slot on Billboard’s Hot 100. A truly multidimensional creator, Derulo has also established himself as an actor and businessman, investing in enterprises like Catch L.A. and Rumble Boxing and becoming part-owner of Bedlam Vodka. With his most recent ventures including launching an innovation-minded podcast and developing a line of supplements and fitness products with the Najafi Group and BodyBuilding.com, he’s also partnered with Z2 Comics to create a graphic novel, a project based on a superhero called Uzo, the crime-fighting character he first introduced on TikTok.

Sophie and the Giant – Don’t Ask Me to Change

SOPHIE AND THE GIANTS ARE BACK WITH NEW SINGLE DON’T ASK ME TO CHANGE LiSTEN HERE AND WATCH THE MUSIC VIDEO

I like what you’re doing Sophie and the Giants, you’re making a habit of making hits….. – Jack Saunders / BBC Radio 1

Punk-edged indie song writing with lashings of synths – Clash

Sophie and the Giants are swiftly carving out a reputation for themselves as purveyors of millennial power-pop with a rock bite. – Gigwise

They’re Ready for a giant leap forward– Daily Star

UK based future pop super stars, Sophie and the Giants have returned with their impassioned new single Don’t Ask Me To Change, out now on Republic Records.

The song is an atmospheric, hook-laden synth anthem. Sophie’s crystalline vocal soars over a bedrock of tom-tom drums, augmented backing vocals and a driving bassline to create a defiant anthem of personal autonomy.

I wrote this song at a time when I was at a crossroads and examining my relationships with people, Sophie explains. Every time I discover something new about myself, I’d feel the compulsion to repress it slightly and minimise my true self to avoid being judged or losing people. I wrote ‘Don’t Ask Me To Change’ when I finally decided fuck that, because if they really loved me I wouldn’t have to make those compromises.

Don’t Ask Me To Change follows their recent single Right Now, and their mega-hit collaboration with Purple Dsco Machine, Hypnotized. Clocking up 4-times platinum status in Italy, platinum in Poland & gold across a further 7 countries in Europe, Hypnotized has been streamed a staggering 200 million times, the video viewed 65 million times on YouTube, and it hit 2 in the European Airplay Charts. In the UK it was championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Jack Saunders and MistaJam.

For Sophie, the experience of becoming a bona fide pop star in Europe while being in the middle of a lockdown was a surreal one. One minute she’s in her flat in Sheffield, the next she’s landing in Italy to perform for Power Hits Estate 2020 in an empty Coliseum.

To have had that success with ‘Hypnotized’ during a standstill year has been a blessing for us, Sophie says. We also hope it’s given people some positivity during a difficult time, just like it has for us. We are so grateful for all the love we have received and excited for what’s coming next.

From their adoptive hometown of Sheffield the band have been refining their intense, life-affirming sound which has already won fans at Radio with support from BBC Introducing, Radio 1 & Radio X. In 2019 the band were invited to play Radio 1’s Big Weekend, as well as delivering storming sets at Glastonbury and Reading festivals.

The band will play a special UK exclusive show at London’s Lafayette venue this September, and they recently announced they’ll be heading out on a full European tour in 2022.

Bravo’s Below Deck Mediterranean Returns

SEASON SIX OF BRAVO’S BELOW DECK MEDITERRANEAN RETURNS FOR A KNOTTY SUMMER ON MONDAY, JUNE 28 AT 9PM ET/PT

Below Deck Mediterranean premieres on Monday, June 28 at 9pm ET/PT and cruises to the crystal-clear waters of the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. Returning for another epic season are Captain Sandy Yawn and Malia White (Bosun).

 The new yachties include

o   Katie Flood (Chief Stew)

o   Mathew Shea (Chef)

o   Lexi Wilson (Stew)

o   Courtney Veale (Stew)

o   David Pascoe (Deckhand)

o   Lloyd Spencer (Deckhand)

o   Mzi “Zee” Dempers (Deckhand)

Make sure to watch the season trailer here and catch up on the first four seasons of Below Deck Mediterranean currently on Peacock.

Coming up this season

The crew boards the 180-foot mega yacht Lady Michelle and embarks on an exciting new charter season as they head to Šibenik, the oldest native Croatian town on the shores of the Adriatic Sea.  Personalities clash and tension quickly escalates as a crew member’s grudges start to rock the boat and disrupt the workflow. In a shocking franchise first, a serious crisis occurs before the opening charter, leaving the staff to worry if the season will be over before it even begins. While unprecedented permutations in the crew structure disrupt the dynamic of the boat, one department head’s new management style causes friction that spans to the entire crew. Amidst roommate issues and health scares, the staff encounters one demanding charter group after another, all while continuing to provide the seven-star service that is expected in the Med.  Between charters, long workdays lead to late night hijinks, surprising hook-ups and one heated, over-the-top argument in the hot tub that leaves the group at a crossroads.

Meet the crew

Voyaging with a new team, Captain Sandy hopes for a return to calmer waters and is determined to hone the leadership skills of her department heads.

Malia White returns as Bosun with even more experience and is excited to manage a new group of deckhands. Newly single, she is ready to let loose and have fun with the crew but after a few mishaps with a green deckhand, she quickly realizes she will have her work cut out for her.

With over six years of experience in the yachting industry working on large super yachts and managing seven stews at once, new Chief Stew Katie Flood prides herself on her non-traditional attitude, attention to detail and unparalleled work ethic. A firm believer in equal opportunities, she strives to keep her interior team on an equal footing which does not bode well with her stews. When she clashes with one of her crewmates, she is left to make tough decisions that could impact the entire boat.

Previously serving the top one-percenters of the world, Chef Mathew Shea’s standards and expectations in the galley set the bar exceedingly high, but after a disastrous first dinner, he is put to the ultimate test to redeem himself in front of the guests and gain the trust back of his fellow yachties.

Former Miss Bahamas Lexi Wilson brings her own flair to the interior side and is not afraid to ruffle feathers with the crew. When frustrations with the yachties boil over, she finds herself in an unusual place with the group.

Hailing from North Wales with a sunny personality, Courtney Veale brings her immense experience with laundry to the interior side and surprises even herself when given more opportunity in front of the guests. After a wild outing with the group, she is shocked to discover she doesn’t remember the biggest moment of the night.

David Pascoe brings his wealth of knowledge to the deck team. When more than one yachtie catches his eye, he juggles work and play, leading to heartbreak.

Previously working as a tour coach driver all around Europe, Lloyd Spencer is determined to prove his skills on super yachts. When pressure starts to build, he finds himself questioning if he has made the right career choice.

Mzi Zee Dempers is excited to learn and follow in his yachtie brothers’ footsteps, but will he be able to adapt to the high demands of yachting and win the heart of his fellow yachtie?

Below Deck Mediterranean is produced by 51 Minds with Courtland Cox, Nadine Rajabi and Mark Cronin serving as executive producers alongside Christian Sarabia and Temple Williams.

During these unprecedented pandemic times that changed our lives and understanding of reality, I realized things will never be the same and our values have evolved, said Assia.  In our new album, everyone will find something for him or her, music to listen to during exercise, cooking, riding the bike, meditating, enjoying a great family weekend, or relaxing at the club after a challenging work week.

The project is being managed by Tony Succar, a two-time Latin Grammy winner including the Latin Grammy’s Producer of the Year award.  Tony is the youngest recipient of this award in Grammy’s history.

Assia is so unique, with her virtuoso playing as well as singing incredibly well and seeing visionary trends in the modern society, world, life, and music, he said. This collaboration is already a long-expected event in the music industry, and we cannot wait to share the ‘new age’ performance, incredibly improved with violin and many more exotic instruments which will make the music sound like it has never been heard before.

These new compositions will be included in Assia’s U.S. and Canada tour which will take place at the end of 2021, and the beginning of 2022.

Emerging alt-rock/hip-hop hybrid Katastro has released the official music video for their new single The Way I Feel, the lead track off their forthcoming album Sucker, out Friday, July 16th via Silverback Music’s Controlled Substance Sound Labs. The Way I Feel, already being hailed as a summer anthem, is an upbeat ode to getting over a bad breakup. Watch the colorful music video here, directed by Brian Dunham and shot in the bandߣs home of Phoenix, and check out the first look with Variance Magazine. Download/stream The Way I Feel here, which is currently featured on a variety of top Spotify rock playlists including The New Alt, New Noise and PopRox.

The Way I Feel’s video was shot in one house that was staged by the owner with various retro themes, shares Katastro. We wanted to make this one more fun while playing with the albumߣs theme of situations constantly looping and getting pulled into the same crazy relationships. We also wanted to keep it all in one house to mimic the line, it’s the same shit every day and add a little quarantine vibe, since the whole album was recorded while back home adopting to Covid life after all our tours had been cancelled.

Katastro will return to the live stage and officially celebrate the release of Sucker with a hometown show on Friday, July 23rd at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe featuring support from Kash’d Out and Barefoot. Tickets are on sale now and available here

Sucker, the band’s sixth full-length studio album, represents a notably more mature sound for Katastro, Andy Chaves [vocals], Andrew Stravers [drums], Tanner Riccio [guitar] and Ryan Weddle [bass] while showcasing their unique melting pot stew of rock, hip-hop, funk, blues, pop, and reggae. The band’s fully collaborative creative approach, and unexpected time off in 2020, allowed for limitless possibilities. The result is a 12-song collection, produced by Matt Keller (Lydia, Anarbor, Redlands), about the constant loop of life, love, hate and wanting to break the pattern. Sucker brings its listeners along on a ride, providing a summery soundtrack and something a little more positive to look forward to when everything feels off. Sucker is available for pre-order now at all DSPs and each digital pre-save will include an instant download of The Way I Feel as well as their previously released tracks 100 Rips and Way Too High available here

Katastro, who has independently amassed over 80 million career streams, first introduced this new era in their growing career with Way Too High, which pays homage to their desert roots with its unique Western vibe and accompanying music video. 100 Rips truly sets the tone and direction for Sucker. The catchy cruisin’ down the highway escapade features psychedelic guitar solos pumping through a mix of hip-hop and reggae set against an intoxicating chorus. Katastro’s irrepressible brand of timely, good-time music is on full display throughout Sucker as evidenced by One Day, a feel-good track about coming to terms with a broken relationship, and the positive, floaty vibe of Droptop, which features background vocals from longtime friend Micah Brown of Iration.

Formed nearly a decade and a half ago, Katastro, who cite Eminem and Red Hot Chili Peppers as early influences, dropped their first EP, The Wonderful Daze, in 2008 and quickly followed with their debut full-length album, Poking Holes In A Pattern, the following year. The quartet issued a steady stream of releases over the next ten years, mostly all independently, alternating full-lengths with EPs and acoustic Bones sessions. 2011ߣs Gentle Predator marked a live album zenith for the band and, in 2016, they garnered a national hit with the Strange Nights record. Katastro’s youthful party vibe started to dim as personal growth and change crept into their songwriting. Internal challenges influenced the bandߣs output as it turned conspicuously darker and more revealing; first with Washed [2018], then with the follow-up, Tropical Heartbreak [2019]. Along the way, Katastro has racked up tens of millions of streams from fans worldwide as well as media support from Alternative Press, The Noise, Substream Magazine, Phoenix New Times and more. The four-piece has also been making an impact as a powerful live act, headlining national tours and supporting the likes of Dirty Heads, Sublime With Rome, Iration, 311, Pepper, The Expendables and gracing festival stages such as the One Love Cali Reggae Fest and Reggae Rise Up Festival.

For fans of Shwayze and Dirty Heads, this carefree anthem will light you up for summertime fun, no matter your relationship status Top Shelf Music

Blending some of the best elements of modern pop hits, including chill vocal delivery reminiscent of blackbear and a kaleidoscopic intro comparable to that of Olivia Rodrigo’s deja vu, The Way I Feel is a fun, light track thatߣs guaranteed to become a staple on your playlist this summer. TREMG
