Flipturn Debuts Whales cover art via Big Hassle for use by 360 MAGAZINE

FLIPTURN – WHALES

Fresh off an entrancing set at Bonnaroo, flipturn today releases the official music video for Whales. The latest single from their upcoming debut album Shadowglow, Whales holds a magnifying glass over the effects of seemingly insurmountable pressure. After amassing over 50 million streams on Spotify alone from previous EPs and singles, the band’s debut album will be released in its entirety on August 19. Stream the official video for Whales HERE.

Directed and edited by longtime collaborator Amanda Laferriere, the video for Whales incorporates the motif of dark versus light which appears across much of Shadowglow. Shot in black and white, the band performs in an isolated room perhaps the most intimately one can experience a flipturn performance without the roar of fanfare like at their recent performances at Bonnaroo, Shaky Knees, Hangout, SunFest, and countless headline shows. Clean and understated, this video keeps things direct, while conveying the weight of the song’s subject matter.

Along with the upcoming release of the band’s debut album, comes the Shadowglow Tour. Beginning tomorrow, the tour will run through the rest of the year, moving from coast to coast. Tickets for all shows are on-sale now and all tour information can be found here and below. Ty Dolla $ign × Capella Grey – OT

Bronx singer-songwriter Capella Grey returns with OT a breezily stylish new single laced with West Coast funk and guest vocals from the one and only Ty Dolla $ign. OT (slang for “out of town”) evokes positive vibes and the carefree lifestyle of an eligible bachelor – a fitting release for the beginning of summer. Accompanied by a luxurious, sun-drenched new video set in Cali, OT evokes positive vibes and the carefree lifestyle of an eligible bachelor – a fitting release for the beginning of summer.

Leading things off is Capella, who slides into the bouncy bass as he lets loose a credo for all the ballers without borders: “Why would I take a shorty OT? / There’s already shorties OT / Why would I bring sand to the beach / When they’re all on me and they’re all OD? ” For his part, Ty opens with a quippy rhetorical question about why he’d ever bring a baddie to Tulum. After all, they all go to Tulum. Playful and effortlessly stylish, OT emits energy and sunshine.

OT only continues a lengthy winning streak for Capella, who’s become one of New York’s fastest-rising stars over the last year. Pairing a flexible voice with an equally malleable style, the Capitol Music Group signee has captivated fans with a nostalgic, shape-shifting mix of R&B, dancehall, and soul. Last year, his breakout single, “Gyalis,” peaked at No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and, to date, the track has earned over 55 million Spotify streams. Combining sensuous vocals with a feature from Nija, he continued building momentum with “Confujawn,” a thoughtful rumination on a struggling relationship. With OT at his back and summer just ahead, Capella is all set to make the rest of 2022 his biggest year yet.

Voice partnerships with Suh Family Foundation via Alice Mizrachi for use by 360 MAGAZINE

VOICE X SUH FAMILY FOUNDATION

Voice, the digital art marketplace, is pleased to announce a partnership with Katya Suh and the Suh Family Foundation on a $40,000 commitment to support digital artists. The Foundation is the first ever partner for Voice’s Astronaut Club Charity Matching Program, an initiative designed for nonprofit and family foundations to support emerging artists in Web3. The program has a dedicated focus on independent artists from underrepresented and marginalized communities, with resources going directly to artists through collecting their NFTs on Voice.

The Suh Family Foundation works hand-in-hand with communities to supply resources across three pillars that were pivotal to the Suh’s own success: education, health and wellness, and empowerment. With efforts led by Katya, the Suh Family Foundation has worked with Voice over the past three months to produce a program that provides the best support for artists on the platform.

The Suh Family Foundation will be collecting pieces from the forthcoming Voice x Street Theory NFT Collection, which was produced by some of the world’s best street artists in their foray into the digital space.

The Suh Family Foundation is passionate about helping individuals on their journey to empowerment,” said Katya Suh, co-founder of the Suh Family Foundation. “Our work with the Foundation aligns so closely with Voice’s dedication to supporting multicultural artists and we look forward to all the great work this partnership will empower artists to create.”

Voice has long focused on supporting emerging artists through multiple residency programs and curation efforts. This new opportunity showcases the best form of support: collecting their art enables them to continue creating.

“If we can help a digital artist get one step closer to making their side hustle their main hustle, we feel we are moving in the right direction,” said Salah Zalatimo, Voice CEO.

The art world isn’t known for its diversity. In fact, the top 18 museums in the U.S. have collections that are 87% male and 85% white. Though it’s often lauded as a great equalizer, Web3 has started to show early signs of mirroring some of the inequities of Web2. Voice is proud to make a public commitment to supporting artists from all walks of life as they enter the digital space.

KUR – SEASONS

Hailed as “the soul of Philly,” storied rapper Kur releases his next single and video, “Seasons,” via Meek Mill‘s DreamChasers and Roc Nation/Republic Records. Listen to “Seasons” HERE.

Unloading an unbreakable cadence of rapid-fire bars, Kur uses his lyrics as an opportunity to peel back the layers of the different seasons he’s endured in life. Staying true to himself, his confessional lyrics start with detailing his humble beginnings and then catch up to his present-day luxuries. The vivid wordplay jumps through the screen of the music video directed by Terrius Mykel with their grimy storytelling.

Drumming up palpable buzz, this release follows Kur’s bundle of songs entitled The Hold Over, which included the single “For My Fam.” Watch the music video for “For My Fam”—HERE. Receiving critical acclaim, another standout was “Road To The Riches.” HotNewHipHop described him as a “talented lyricist, Essence highlighted it among “New Music This Week. The project also boasts previously released “Sheist,” “Let’s Talk,” and “Play It Cool.” About the bundle, Passion of the Weiss noted, “Kur has leveraged his natural ability to think as a buffer between the things that could be and the things that are.” Raydar Magazine further applauded Kur as “Philadelphia’s Beacon of Possibility In Hip-Hop.”

To kick off the summer, Kur delivered a hometown performance at the Roots Picnic on June 4th. About the performance, he told REVOLT, “performing at this event was a dream come true and represents a stepping stone for what’s to come in his career.”

As the story goes, Kur first cut his teeth by leaving the competition speechless during lunchtime ciphers at W.B. Saul High School. Projects such as the Straight From The Kur mixtape and Upside Down Cake EP (where he murdered the beat for Drake’s “Poundcake” in multiple ways) led to the most significant hometown endorsement possible…Meek Mill shared lyrics from “33 Shots” on Twitter as Kur went on to participate in the 2016 BET Hip Hop Awards cipher with Sam Black, Ms. Jade, Dave East, and Young M.A. Around the same time, he joined forces with New York phenomenon Dave East for the EP, Born Broke, Die Rich. 2019 saw him approach critical mass. His project Shakur spawned the infectious “Crack” and powerful “Soul” [feat. Mozzy], eclipsing 10 million cumulative global streams. On its heels, “Spare Me” vaulted to #14 on the Apple Music Hip-Hop and Rap Chart and #20 on the All Genres Chart. This prompted Meek Mill to proclaim Kur as “the soul of Philly.” Signed to DreamChasers in partnership with Roc Nation and Republic, the 2021 LP It Shouldn’t Be Like This elevated his total streams past 77 million.

MARVEL’S VOICES: YOUNG AVENGERS #5

Writer: Anthony Oliveira

Artist: Jethro Morales

Colorist: Yen Nitro

Editor: Sarah Brunstad

On writing the all-new series, Anthony Oliveira says, “I have been reading Young Avengers since the very first week it came out! I remember in those early days thinking it was impossible that what seemed to be happening with Wiccan and Hulkling was actually happening – Queer people like us just weren’t shown in comics or on TV. I’ve been hooked ever since, and continuing the story of these characters I once looked up to is a dream come true.” He continues, “This story is full of deep cuts, weird continuity connections, and insider beats, and the pleasure of Marvel Unlimited is that great, glorious archive of back issues is all just a click away.”

And artist Jethro Morales said, “The fans can expect a lot of heartfelt moments with tons of action and fun in every panel and page throughout this arc. And as one of the artists, I gave it all to the best of my abilities to convey visually all the emotions and excitement masterfully written by Anthony that I hope the fans would appreciate.”
