KO Média – ELLE DECORATION CANADA

KO Média is excited to unveil the fall issue of ELLE Decoration Canada featuring a new way of imagining your dream home by designer Nicholas Ancerl. Crestwood, described as “a dramatic home among the treetops” of Barrie, Ontario, has yet to be built. Instead, it has been brought to life with 23 photo-realistic renders. “The contemporary interiors will have a rustic touch and a neutral colour palette,” Ancerl explains. “We want the colours of nature, seen through the expansive windows, to dominate the interiors.” When asked about setting expectations too high for homeowners with such stunning renders, the designer assures: “Nothing can take away from the experience of actually stepping into a real space.”

This edition is imbued with a desire to create bright, airy living spaces that are both functional and serene. Included are Toronto-based architect Anya Moryoussef’s transformation of a single-car garage into a modern workspace inspired by traditional Italian studiolos; a prefabricated house reimagined by architect Alain Carle to capture the natural play of light and shade throughout the day; an architectural firm’s ingenious use of every nook and cranny in a tiny Vancouver home brimming with joie de vivre; and wood-and-glass containers fashioned by a Montreal couple to give their Old Port loft structure without sacrificing any natural light.

In the spirit of the season, Athena Calderone, author of Cook Beautiful, shares recipes that capture the tones, textures and tastes of fall and tips for creating the ultimate autumn table settings. Readers will also find a curated list of outdoor armchairs, loungers and swings from which to soak up the sun, and patio heaters in all shapes and sizes for the chilly months to come.

We caught up with Quebec native Philippe Malouin, creator of the Hanger chair, to find out how he continues to keep things simple after being listed among the world’s 100 top designers by Architectural Digest. Designer Montana Labelle offers advice for combining elegance and simplicity from her newly opened Lifestyle Studio in Toronto; and Quebecer Danielle Carignan, a pioneer in the personal organizer profession, shares tips to declutter your space and your life.

And for those seeking an escape, this issue has everything from top coffee makers for a meditative morning routine; to a seaside hospitality complex in Iran that blends seamlessly into the blazing red, yellow and orange rock formations of Hormuz Island.

The fall issue of ELLE Decoration Canada will hit stands and Apple News+ today.

X Ambassadors – The Beautiful Liar

Today, multi-platinum-selling rock band X Ambassadors released their third studio album The Beautiful Liar. On The Beautiful Liar, X Ambassadors pay homage to the supernatural radio dramas and books-on-tape brothers Sam Nelson Harris and Casey Harris listened to as kids – sharing a selection of songs that together tell the tale of a blind teenage girl discovering her long-dormant superpowers. X Ambassadors augmented the album’s storytelling component by weaving in a series of interludes that propel its wildly original plot forward. Featuring previously released singles “Adrenaline,” “Okay,” and “My Own Monster,” The Beautiful Liar is available now at all digital retailers via KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records.

“For the The Beautiful Liar I wanted to make an album that felt as unhinged as I did, and as the whole world felt around me,” says Sam Nelson Harris. “So Adam, Casey and I carved ourselves a space where we could all be as ugly, weird, funny, and fucked up as we wanted to be. We made the whole album unequivocally ours with the help of our incredible producer Andrew Wells, co-producers Tommy English, Ricky Reed, Nate Merceau, songwriters K.Flay and Andrew Jackson. I hope this album freaks you out, makes you cry, makes you laugh, and makes you feel a little less alone.”

Earlier this week QCODE, a premium leading content studio and podcast network, announced that X Ambassadors singer/writer/producer Sam Nelson Harris has co-created a new podcast, The Beautiful Liar, which he will also star in and produce alongside Interscope Records. Schitt’s Creek’s Emily Hampshire will voice the role of “Shadow” and serve as an executive producer on the podcast as well. This superhero origin story will serve as a companion piece to X Ambassadors’ new album of the same name. The first episode will be available on October 20 on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever podcasts are available with new episodes released each Wednesday. Listen to the podcast trailer.

The idea for The Beautiful Liar podcast was first conceived by brothers and bandmates Sam and Casey Harris who wanted to create an audio drama inspired by superhero comic books about a blind character and her superpowers. Structured by co-creator Minnie Schedeen, the story and format is deeply personal to the Harris brothers. Casey has been blind since birth and the two grew up listening to audiobooks and radio dramas together.

Also released today is a music video for the song “Beautiful Liar.” Partnering with Mathematic, a Paris-based VFX, animation and motion design studio, Sam and the band create a comic book-esque video that ties together the worlds of the new album and the new podcast. Watch the video for new song Beautiful Liar.

Tickets are on sale now for the band’s The Beautiful Liar tour which kicks off October 15th in San Diego, CA at HOB, and will hit North America this fall with dates planned for Europe in early 2022. Scarypoolparty and Taylor Janzen will open the show on all North American dates. For a complete list of dates and to purchase tickets visit here.

Jessia – First Call

Following her certified smash “I’m not Pretty”, today platinum certified pop songstress JESSIA unveiled her gorgeous new single “First Call” off her forthcoming debut EP officially set for release on October 15 via Ryan Tedder’s Artist Driven Records in partnership with Republic Records.

A deceptively lush, dreamy, pop confection buoyed by JESSIA’s sparkling voice, “First Call” mines that sweet spot between knock-kneed ballad and daring missive in classic and authentic JESSIA style, underscoring her ambition to make listeners feel validated and understood.

“’First Call’ is the oldest song on the forthcoming EP,” shares JESSIA. “I wrote it two years ago when I was hopeful that I would reconnect with someone that I lost. I thought he was my forever, but I eventually came to the realization that he was actually just there to teach me a lot of lessons.”

“First Call” arrives amid a productive streak for JESSIA.  Earlier this year she shared the platinum-certified body acceptance anthem “I’m not Pretty”, which (to date) has garnered over 215 million global streams and 10 million video views and earned placement on highly coveted playlists and more. The anthemic track exploded on TikTok with JESSIA introducing the song via an acapella hook, racking up millions of views in a single day and catching the attention of singer, songwriter and four-time JUNO Awards nominated artist/producer elijah woods and later, Grammy-Award nominated artist Bebe Rexha who joined on the remix.

Certified Platinum in Canada where “I’m not Pretty” hit #4 at HOT AC radio, #8 at Top 40, and #33 in the U.S., JESSIA was featured as Billboard’s “Charbreaker” for the month of June (2021) and made her festival debut at Chicago’s Lollapalooza this summer. “I’m not Pretty” topped Billboard Canada’s Emerging Artists chart (at #1) for 13 consecutive weeks and introduced JESSIA to audiences around the world with its ability to connect via her brutally honest narrative and unapologetic story – the same story that has garnered a collective 264 million global streams to date and attracted Grammy Award–winning singer, songwriter, and producer Ryan Tedder, who was knocked flat by JESSIA, signing her to his Artist Driven Records in partnership with Republic Records.

JESSIA’s accessible but very complex music — self-summarized as “unpolished and unapologetic” — will make you feel understood and accepted. Think of JESSIA as a safe space to vent about all the ebbs and flows of being human – beguiling and super-relatable.  Yet this is just the beginning of what this extraordinary artist has to offer.

Kito × Bea Miller  – Steal My Clothes

Boundary-breaking producer and Piano-House Queen LP Giobbi has created a darkly infectious, pulsating remix of Kito’s new single, Steal My Clothes ft. Bea Miller, released today by Astralwerks. Download / stream Kito’s exclusive mix is now live on LP Giobbi’s Femme House Radio on Diplo’s Revolution. The mix also includes an interview with Kito by LP. Listen to mix and interview

Steal My Clothes has already amassed over 3.5 million combined global streams. Upon release last month, the song appeared on numerous playlists, including Spotify’s US NMF and Pop Rising and Apple Music’s Best New Songs, New Music Daily and A-List Pop. Kito, Bea and director GIZELLA give fans a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the playful video for Steal My Clothes. The Honey Pop said, From the lyrics, to what a feel-good track it is, everything is NOTION praising the undeniable earworm pop groove and Beyond The Stage hailed the song as a winning collaboration if there ever was one.

Steal My Clothes is the follow-up Recap Kito’s early 2021 collaboration with VanJess and Channel Tres, which Billboard praised as deliciously decadent and refreshing. She’s also been busy creating acclaimed remixes for MARINA’s “Venus Fly Trap”and CHVRCHES’ “Good Girls.

For Kito, making music has always been about finding a way to introduce the world to new sounds. That drive’s been there since her nascent days DJing, unearthing unheard gems, and it’s especially clear now to anyone who tunes into the Australian producerߣs technicolor tracks teach subsequent song is like nothing you’ve ever heard before. Her career, too, has been powered by unpredictable twists and turns. Just as she’s moved across the globe Perth to London to Los Angeles Kito’s found homes at tastemaking labels along the way: Ed Banger Records, Mad Decent and now, Astralwerks. She has also produced a dizzying array of artists (Jorja Smith, Mabel, Banks, FLETCHER), and populated her prismatic 2018 solo Haani, with guests spanning from Broods to Hudson Mohawke. Her most recent collaborations “Follow with ZHU and Jeremih, “Recap” with VanJess and Channel Tres, and Steal My Clothes with Bea Miller shed light on Kito’s approach to futurist pop. She infuses otherwise simple tracks with complex emotions and adventurous sonic turns. Taken with her recent ecstatic remixes of Saweetie and Doja Cat’s Best Friend, MARINA’s Venus Fly Trap, and CHVRCHES Good Girls, Kito’s growing body of work demonstrates how far she’s come as a producer and songwriter.

The Greeting Committee – Dandelion

Today marks the long-anticipated release of Dandelion, the sophomore album from Kansas City-based alt-rock band The Greeting Committee. Released via Harvest Records, Dandelion finds the four-piece working with esteemed producer Jennifer Decilveo (MARINA, FLETCHER, Bat for Lashes) and mixer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala), delivering a moody and mercurial sound perfectly suited to the album’s emotional terrain. To celebrate Dandelion’s arrival, The Greeting Committee have also shared the video for Make Out, one of the album’s more lighthearted moments. Go listen to Dandelion, and check out the video for Make Out

The follow-up to The Greeting Committee’s acclaimed 2018 debut album This Is It, Dandelion documents a particularly painful period in the life of frontwoman Addie Sartino, including the grief and inertia she experienced after a devastating breakup. Most of these songs are about feeling like you’re watching your life instead of living it: just going through the motions and feeling stuck and wanting to break out of that, but not really knowing how, she says.

Despite its often-brutal honesty, Dandelion radiates an irrepressible and unbridled energy, thanks in part to the joyful chemistry that The Greeting Committee bring to every track. To that end, the band selected the album’s title due to its suggestion of an unlikely hope. Dandelions are weeds, but depending on your perspective, you can shrug them off or you can choose to see them as a sort of beautiful flower, similar to how we have the choice in what we see in ourselves, says Sartino.

With its fuzzed-out riffs and pogo-ready rhythms, Make Out serves as a bold departure from Dandelion’s heavy-hearted tone. Co-directed by the band and Malik Lemon, the track’s outrageous video finds guitarist Brandon Yangmi facing off in a fantastically chaotic wrestling match featuring Wrestle Yr Friends (a queer wrestling collective based in Kansas City). With Sartino and bassist Pierce Turcotte playing the part of the match’s commentators, the visual makes for a brilliant counterpart to the free-spirited mood of Make Out. For the most part I like to get deep and uncomfortable in my lyrics, but this song is like the Antichrist of that, Sartino says. It’s somewhat of a true tale, about a girl who stuck her tongue out at me at a show in East Virginia and used to send me selfies where she’s in her rollerblades or eating pickles. It was the first time after my breakup that I thought, Maybe I’ll be okay. Maybe life can be fun again, and I won’t be sad forever.

In creating the tracklist for Dandelion, The Greeting Committee made a point of leading their listeners on a cathartic emotional journey. I wanted the record to really show the healing process, starting at a place of desperation and eventually getting to the point of being willing to accept reality, says Sartino. Hailed by Clash as a raw portrayal of post-break-up poignance, the album-opening lead single Can I Leave Me Too? perfectly captures the confusion of heartbreak, while its follow-up Float Away examines how depression warps our self-image. (Released in July, the track earned acclaim from Pop Matters, who likened its sonic elements to the haunted carousel all our minds seem to be stuck riding lately.) And on Ada an August release praised by Earmilk, who noted the band’s warm, welcoming, and vibrant indie rock sound. The Greeting Committee offer up a LGBTQ anthem inspired by a trans woman they befriended years ago, as well as Sartino’s own experience in coming out.

Closing out with the piano-laced reverie of Ten, Dandelion ultimately fulfills The Greeting Committee’s mission of providing their audience with an undeniable sense of emotional solidarity. Over the years we’ve had people come up to us at shows and tell us that our music has saved their lives, which is something we take very seriously, says Sartino. It’s really special to be part of the soundtrack to someone else’s experience, and we want to continue being a source of comfort to our fans and help them understand that they’re not alone.

In celebration of the album release, the band will be on Travis Mills’ Beats 1 Apple Music show and will also collaborate with Fender for a signed guitar giveaway and social takeover.

The FunkLabb × Myah Marie

Brooklyn-based producers/songwriters The FunkLabb Ed Lawson and Wes Davis have teamed up once again with singer, songwriter, and background vocalist Myah Marie for their newest single, Late To The Party, which highlights Myahs silky vocals over a driving pop beat of soaring strings and synths. With its clever play on words, the song lyrically speaks to being the last to know the truth about someone and the realization that you ultimately deserve better. We wanted to hit a little different this time with Late To The Party. It’s a ballad style melody but still a funky, danceable track, shared by The FunkLabb. It’s our third single with Myah and we are just getting started!

Late To The Party was the first collaboration I did with The FunkLabb! Immediately I was like oh, these guys are dope, adds Myah who is a lyricist and background vocalist behind songs from many top artists such as Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and Avicii, among others. She continues, It’s about how sometimes we don’t know someone sucks until we know and we feel completely late to the party, like showing up to a party everyone else was invited to but you. But you know what? Still eat the cake.

Late To The Party follows The FunkLabbs previously released singles with Myah Marie, Mama Said No and Pretty Please ft. Ruba, Young Dinero Banks, and Sarina The Violin Diva, which were accompanied by a pair of intergalactic music videos following Myah flirting with danger before being abducted by aliens and plotting her means for escape.

Funk suggests more than a sound. It implies a whole lot of attitude, slick swagger, and serious soul and you feel it just as much as you hear it. The FunkLabb cooks up music in this spirit as they uncork a timeless groove ignited by fresh fire. Since meeting nearly three decades ago crafting music behind the scenes for everyone from legends such as The Notorious B.I.G. and Will Smith to R&B favorites Sharissa and Allure, The FunkLabb now step into the spotlight. Feeling like something was missing from music, The FunkLabb collectively incorporate elements from their past catalog and eclectic taste as they aim to bring back the excellence and musicality needed to remind listeners of how a song makes you feel while evolving their collaboration into an artist development hub with various artists leaning on their expertise, wisdom, guidance, and studio prowess. Ultimately, The FunkLabb represents the culmination of a lifetime dedicated to music and a bold new chapter.

The Town Hall × The Boys

The Town Hall has announced a special evening with brothers Ron Howard and Clint Howard as they reflect on their new book The Boys. The live evening, moderated by Malcolm Gladwell will take place on October 12 at 7PM at The Town Hall  the same day The Boys is released.

What was it like to grow up on TV? is not a question most of us know the answer to, but Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ron Howard and fan-favorite actor Clint Howard do. The brothers rose to fame on popular shows of the 1960s and 70s like Happy Days, The Andy Griffith Show, and Gentle Ben. At The Town Hall, they chat about their new dual memoir The Boys, in which they reflect on the importance of family and share memories of their extraordinary childhood spent on sound stages, hanging out with Hollywood legends like Andy Griffith, and working with trained bears. Theyߣll also dig deeper, examining the industry with the perspective of life experience behind them.

Tickets prices, which include a copy of The Boys are $47-$52 and are available at

The evening is presented in partnership with Strand Bookstore and is also providing copies of The Boys.

After the last year and a half of working on this book, I am really looking forward to sitting with Clint and Malcolm at Town Hall to dive into our life experiences, as well as share all that we have learned throughout this process, said Ron Howard.

Clint Howard agreed. Writing a memoir with my brother has been an awesome experience and kicking off our book tour in New York City is a dream come true.

We are excited to welcome Ron and Clint Howard to The Town Hall to discuss their book The Boys, said Artistic Director Melay Araya. This is an exciting opportunity for audiences to get a peek behind the scenes of Hollywood from two these two prolific men and to see that while their family’s circumstances may have been different, they have gone through some of the same struggles and triumphs that many families do. Our goal at The Town Hall is to welcome important voices commenting on the American experience, and we know this evening will be fun and enlightening.

With the perspective of time and success Ron as a filmmaker, producer, and Hollywood A-lister, Clint as a busy character actor the Howard brothers delve deep into an upbringing that seemed normal to them yet was anything but. Their Midwestern parents, Rance and Jean, moved to California to pursue their own showbiz dreams. But it was their young sons who found steady employment as actors. Rance put aside his ego and ambition to become Ron and Clint’s teacher, sage, and moral compass. Jean became their loving protector sometimes over-protector from the snares and traps of Hollywood.

By turns confessional, nostalgic, heartwarming, and harrowing, The Boys is a dual narrative that lifts the lid on the Howard brothers’ closely held lives. It’s the journey of a tight four-person family unit that held fast in an unforgiving business and of two brothers who survived child-actor syndrome to become fulfilled adults.
