This Ain’t No Picnic Festival

Goldenvoice is thrilled to announce their newest festival for 2022: This Ain’t No Picnic, coming August 27 and 28 to the Shady Oaks and Parkland of Brookside at the Rose Bowl. The team behind Coachella, Stagecoach, Cruel World and Just Like Heaven have an unrivaled talent for crafting eclectic line-ups and unique destination festivals, and the magic continues when This Ain’t No Picnic returns to Los Angeles, featuring six stages of artists from the past, present, and future spanning cutting-edge indie, hip-hop, dance, underground and everything in-between.

Headliners The Strokes and LCD Soundsystem are joined by Le Tigre, who are reuniting for their first performance in 12 years, hometown hero Phoebe Bridgers, IDLES, Courtney Barnett, Caroline Polachek, Honey Dijon, Four Tet x Floating Points in a rare, combined DJ set, Yves Tumor, Descendents, Wet Leg, Genesis Owusu, Turnstile, Hana Vu, and many more, plus a sixth “stage” for Despacio, a custom-built disco sound system designed by James Murphy and team. This Ain’t No Picnic offers a unique setting for both icons and new discoveries, bridging multiple genres, and mirroring the wide but discerning tastes of Los Angeles music fans.

The name is a nod to one of Goldenvoice’s earliest festivals, launched in Irvine, California in 1999, the same year as Coachella. The youthful exuberance and energy from that festival lives on, as This Ain’t No Picnic 2022 brings together the talent buying team of Goldenvoice’s Stacy Vee, Jenn Yacoubian, and Rene Contreras to celebrate all of the artists they love across one glorious weekend.  This Ain’t No Picnic’s lineup is the perfect combination of the best cutting edge, up-and-coming artists alongside iconic bands who continue to create boundary-pushing new music.

About Flogging Molly:

Flogging Molly is comprised of Dave King (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, bodhran), Bridget Regan (violin, tin whistle, vocals), Dennis Casey (guitar, vocals), Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina, vocals), Nathen Maxwell (bass guitar, vocals), Spencer Swain (mandolin, banjo, guitar, vocals), and Mike Alonso (drums, percussion). Starting out as the house band for Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles and building a loyal following through endless touring, Flogging Molly has become a staple in the punk scene over the past 20 years, kicking off with its raucous debut showcase, Swagger, and continuing through its five additional studio albums. With numerous late-night television appearances under their belt, its sell-out Salty Dog Cruise through the Caribbean, and yearly St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Los Angeles, the band is currently working on the Rise Records follow-up to its latest LP, Life Is Good. Recently, the band reissued Swagger with exclusive tracks, an Irish traditional set, a 60-minute video feature, and exclusive merch in a collectable box set.

About Violent Femmes:

Violent Femmes formed in 1981 as an acoustic punk band playing on the streets of Milwaukee, WI, with the goal to rock harder than any other acoustic act on the planet. The band released their eponymous debut album in 1983, finally entering the Billboard Charts and earning a platinum certification eight years after the fact. Over the course of their three-decade career, the Femmes have released 10 studio albums, four live albums, four compilation albums, an EP, and several singles, earning a legendary cult status and influencing generations of musicians with their catalog.
