MARVEL’S LGBTQIA+ LEGACY

MARVEL’S LGBTQIA+ LEGACY AND FUTURE TAKES CENTER STAGE IN THIS YEAR’S PRIDE MONTH VARIANT COVERS REVEALED

Available throughout June, Lucas Werneck and David Talaski spotlight LGBTQIA+ Marvel super heroes in six stunning new covers!

Pride Month is rapidly approaching, and Marvel Comics is excited to reveal all of this year’s stunning PRIDE VARIANT COVERS! Yesterday, fans got to see LGBTQIA+ characters from the galaxy far, far away in all-new STAR WARS PRIDE VARIANT COVERS, and now it’s time to see some of Marvel’s most beloved LGBTQIA+ stars in six stunning PRIDE VARIANT COVERS by two superstar talents, Lucas Werneck and David Talaski!

Celebrating Pride all month long, these variant covers will grace comic stands each week of June with incredible depictions of LGBTQIA+ heroes from all corners of the Marvel Universe including longtime icons, rising stars, fan-favorites, and recent breakout characters. While Werneck captures the joy of Pride Month with characters paying tribute to Ballroom culture and gay nightlife, Talaski showcases the power of Pride Month with character’s strength and resilience on full display in striking portraits.

All six characters featured are currently impacting the Marvel mythos in ongoing series, limited series, upcoming launches, and more! Here’s the lineup of heroes highlight and the comics where you can currently find their stories:

·       Rachel Summers, aka Askani, the daughter of Jean Grey and Scott Summers from an alternate future, longtime Phoenix host, and overall mutant powerhouse, is currently fighting alongside Captain Britain in the pages of Betsy Braddock: Captain Britain!

·       Aaron Fischer, aka the Captain America of the Railways, debuted in 2021’s United States of Captain America as a protector of fellow runaways, and after recent appearances in Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty, he’ll star in his own upcoming Marvel Unlimited Infinity Comic!

·       Black Cat, Marvel’s greatest thief and one of Spider-Man’s fiercest allies, fans can catch Felicia Hardy clawing her way through villains and committing legendary heists in her latest series, Mary Jane & Black Cat, and in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man!

·       Fang, aka Daken, son of Wolverine, former X-Men villain, and one of mutantkind’s deadliest warriors, has served Krakoa bravely in team books like X-Factor and Marauders and this summer, he’ll be on the frontlines of FALL OF X in an all-new ALPHA FLIGHT series!

·       Escapade, the breakout mutant hero from last year’s Marvel’s Voices: Pride, is currently learning how to use her one-of-a-kind powers and proving herself amongst the brightest heroes of the X-Men’s next generation in the limited series New Mutants: Lethal Legion!

·       Web-Weaver, the most fabulous hero in the Spider-Verse, slayed the runway and super villains alike in last year’s Edge of Spider-Verse and after recent appearances in Spider-Man and Marvel’s Voices: Spider-Verse, will headline his next solo adventure in this year’s MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE!

“The category is PRIDE! It was so fun to make these three covers. My idea was to put the characters in a Ballroom setting, living the best moment of their lives to remind ourselves to do the same. We’re beautiful the way we are and we deserve to shine and be happy,” Werneck said. “I’m so thrilled to be part of Marvel’s Pride celebration for a second year, this means a lot to me! I really hope fans enjoy these covers as much as I enjoyed making them!”

“I love comics, and it’s always exciting when I get to draw these characters, but it becomes an honor when it’s for my community of Queer comic fans,” Talaski said. “What makes getting to draw Aaron, Rachel and Daken special is that they’re all LGBTQIA+ characters from across 40 years of comics so it feels like I get to make something, not just for longtime fans, but for new ones as well.”

Check with your local comic shop regarding availability and pick up all of this year’s MARVEL PRIDE VARIANT COVERS this June. Lillie Mae - Razor Love via 360 MAGAZINE.

Lillie Mae – Razor Love

Acclaimed singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Lillie Mae has shared her passionate new rendition of Neil Young’s classic “Razor Love,” available today at all DSPs and streaming services.

“Like a lot of songs, I think ‘Razor Love’ is probably interpreted differently to the listener,” Lillie Mae says. “I can identify with the line, ‘on the road there’s no place like home.’”

LISTEN TO “RAZOR LOVE”

Recorded in Dallas, TX with producer Beau Bedford (Delta Spirit, Orville Peck) and inspired in part by Lillie Mae’s mother’s maiden name of Razor, “Razor Love” heralds the early awaited arrival of the Nashville-based artist’s upcoming third studio album, due later this year via S || C Records. Lillie Mae’s first new release in more than four years, the emotionally charged new track – which features backing by her siblings, Frank Carter Rische (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, harmony vocals) and Scarlett Rische (acoustic mandolin), along with husband Craig Smith (electric guitar, B-bender guitar), producer Bedford (keys, synth, guitar, Moog), Aaron Goodrich (drums, percussion), and Geoffrey Muller (electric bass) – continues a remarkable body of work begun with her acclaimed 2017 debut album, Forever and Then Some (produced by 12x Grammy Award-winner Jack White), and its 2019 follow-up, Other Girls (produced by 8x Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb), both released on Third Man Records.

Lillie Mae – who recently returned to the stage with a shipboard performance on Sixthman and SiriusXM’s Outlaw Country West festival cruise – will celebrate her new music and much more with an active live schedule. Already announced highlights include a free Memorial Day Weekend concert as part of Nashville’s annual Musician’s Corner (set for Friday, May 26 in Centennial Park), as well as a return to the high seas on the upcoming Outlaw Country Cruise 8, sailing February 4-10, 2024 from Miami, FL to Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and San Juan, Puerto Rico aboard Norwegian Pearl. For updates and additional information, please visit lilliemaemusic.com.

Lillie Mae has been singing and playing since she could stand on her own two feet, performing with her family band at churches, fairs, festivals and theme parks across the country. In 2012, she joined Jack White’s all-female touring and recording combo, The Peacocks, playing fiddle and mandolin. The two musicians formed an immediate kinship, both being the youngest children of large families and instrumental polymaths. White was similarly appreciative of Lillie Mae’s songwriting, producing Forever and Then Some at his Third Man Studios in their mutual home city of Nashville. She swiftly followed up with 2019’s Other Girls, pushing her sound into different shapes with superstar producer Dave Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell) at the helm. “On her second album, the Nashville spitfire flits easily between country, bluegrass, and rock,” raved Pitchfork, noting Lillie Mae’s willingness to merge to myriad strains of Americana to present an authentically original vision all her own. Now, with the premiere of “Razor Love” and the promise of more new music to come, Lillie Mae once again affirms herself as a gifted and heartfelt musical storyteller, marked by remarkable authenticity, resourcefulness, and passion.

Celebrated artist Duke Dumont returns with new track “The Chant” out now via Astralwerks. Listen HERE.

The latest in Duke’s reputable ‘For Club Play Only’ underground series, “The Chant” is an artistic statement. An ode to British rave, the new track presents a meticulously crafted palette of arpeggiated vocal sequencing, euphoric trance synths and a textured rhythm section. A warehouse anthem, “The Chant” solidifies Duke’s status as one of the most versatile record producers of our generation.

Speaking on the new track, Duke said “Music is made to be experienced in places. A jointy pop song in your car, listening to the radio on the way to work. Hearing sped up versions of a classic song on your phone scrolling through social media. ‘The Chant’ is there to be played in a muddy field. Conjuring euphoria. Dedicated to all the ravers dancing in muddy fields. Living in the moment and nothing else.”

Although his first release of the year, Duke has steadily and not-so-quietly been building a formidable live show. Since his infamous Coachella 2022 set in which his awe-inspiring visuals coupled with a reconstruction of his music was unveiled, Duke has doubled down on what it means to offer an experience to the listener, truly emphasizing the live experience. Duke’s taken his live show across the globe, with notable shows in Australia, including Splendour In The Grass and America, including The Shrine (LA), The Mirage (NY), and Coachella.

2023 will see Duke continue his ongoing run of shows stateside, with his biggest US LIVE* headline set to date at Colorado’s iconic Red Rocks on October 27th. Tickets on sale now.

“The Chant” arrives a decade on from Need U (100%) feat. A*M*E, which soared straight to number 1 in the UK. It became the first UK house track to do so in over a decade, reaching Platinum certification, and opening a gap in the British music consciousness for dance music to prosper on a grand scale.

Beyond the charts, the underground explorations of his ‘For Club Play Only’ shine a light on his multifaceted acclaim and what makes Duke such an exciting proposition. Success to him is not defined by chart positions, nor does he make music with that in mind. His approach to putting the art first has still resulted in him being one of the world’s most successful electronic artists and somewhat of a commercially successful behemoth, with over 5M monthly Spotify listeners.

The release of “The Chant” is an example of an artist with over two decades of experience whose artistic integrity stays uncompromised.

Dom Pérignon announces that it is joining forces with The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), the world’s premier culinary college, to support the first-ever Master’s in Culinary Arts degree program via 360 MAGAZINE.

Dom Pérignon × CIA

Dom Pérignon announces that it is joining forces with The Culinary Institute of America (CIA), the world’s premier culinary college, to support the first-ever Master’s in Culinary Arts degree program. The Dom Pérignon Scholarship Fund will fully support tuition for 20 students in the unique program, which integrates two years of unprecedented experiential learning at world-class restaurants and features residencies at the CIA’s New York campus and the Champagne House in France.
The program is designed to prepare the next generation of leading restauranteurs for ownership and success. In addition to its scholarship support, a grant from Dom Pérignon helped underwrite the development of the program by the CIA.

The Champagne House recognizes its role and responsibility in supporting the future of gastronomy.  As Cellar Master Vincent Chaperon notes:

“Dom Pérignon’s creative ambition is a perpetual quest for harmony as a source of emotion – a quest that is shared by great chefs in our mutual ambition to create memorable meals and pairings. Because of that connection, the culinary arts and fine wine have always been intimately linked, and at Dom Pérignon we recognize a responsibility to the future of gastronomy.  Our vision is to nurture a profound appreciation for the art of living in the next generation. The Dom Pérignon Scholarship Fund, made possible through the Culinary Institute of America, is the first step in bringing that vision to life.”

This first-of-its-kind program will feature content in areas including professional excellence in cooking, culinary history, agriculture, responsible product sourcing, and sustainability; the relationship between wine and food. And entrepreneurship and business leadership.

“Since our founding in 1946, The Culinary Institute of America has played an integral part in elevating the chef profession, educating more than 50,000 students who have gone on to lead every facet of food, beverage and hospitality,” says CIA President Dr. Tim Ryan. “We are excited now to announce the launch of the first of its kind graduate-level program to further underscore the mastery, craftsmanship, and business acumen of the culinary arts. It is truly a special time for the CIA and the profession. And we are grateful to Dom Pérignon for their support of this groundbreaking program.”

To kick off the program and further support its mission, world-renowned chefs, including Thomas Keller, Kyle Connaughton, Niki Nakayama, Val Cantú, and CIA alumna Daisy Ryan participated in an exclusive fireside conversation alongside Cellar Master Vincent Chaperon and CIA President and Certified Master Chef, Dr. Tim Ryan, discussing their personal career experiences, trials and triumphs, and the importance—and future—of culinary education.

As Chef Kyle Connaughton notes, “It’s been incredibly rewarding to work with this group to create a program for young chefs to become the next generation of thoughtful leaders for our profession. Looking back, the challenges in going from chef to chef-owner can be incredibly difficult, and we’ve set out to better prepare our future chefs with the knowledge and experience to move forward in their careers successfully.

Chef Thomas Keller shares, “I am incredibly proud to have worked with this group to realize the goal of launching a Master’s of Culinary Arts at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA). This effort and the work to bring this forward lie in the hard work and dedication of CIA President Dr. Tim Ryan, a community of chefs, and Dom Pérignon.

I am equally excited to host the first CIA Master of Culinary Arts cohort at The French Laundry. Our restaurant has always been a place for training, education, and mentoring and, over the past two decades, has helped launch many chef, restaurateur, and hospitality careers. The opportunity to finally add the CIA curriculum to ours will bring forth a quantum leap in education and better prepare the next generation to continue to elevate the standards of our profession and secure the future of restaurants. I am grateful to Dom Pérignon for their support of this incredible program, which has helped make it a reality.

I want to recognize the chef community for their continuous efforts and dedication to their craft and for nurturing those who walk through our doors every day. Restaurants have always been the heart of our communities, and we thank the CIA and those who helped teach generations of chefs. The next generation of chefs have the opportunity to receive a higher level of education to advance our profession even further.”

Candidates will be able to apply online at CIA Master’s in Culinary Arts starting May 2, 2023.

“The music of Neil Young has been part of my entire life. What has always drawn me to him are his lyrics. I think that lyrics are often underrated in today’s music. But then of course with Neil Young you also get these absolutely iconic melodies and the sound quality of his albums is simply amazing. He is the full package.

To record Harvest was a pure joy. I had never sung with Andrew or recorded with him playing the violin and he is so inherently musical that it feels so natural to sing such a sophisticated song with him. And it was amazing to include my old friend Chris Stills on this track who probably was fed Neil Young’s voice with his mother’s milk. Chris has one of the most beautiful voices I have heard and his harmonizing is absolutely delicious.”

The 15 songs featured on Folkocracy include folk standards from around the world along with a unique reframing of Franz Schubert’s “Nacht und Träume” as well as a spellbinding rerecording of his own “Going To A Town,” featuring his longtime friend ANOHNI. Highlights include the sensual “High On A Rocky Ledge (feat. David Byrne),” a gorgeous, expertly harmonized take on The Mamas & The Papas’ “Twelve-Thirty (Young Girls Are Coming To The Canyon)” featuring Sheryl Crow, Susannah Hoffs, and Chris Stills, and the album-closing “Wild Mountain Thyme,” a song Wainwright grew up singing with his sisters, Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche, both of whom join him on the new rendition along with aunt Anna McGarrigle, cousin Lily Lanken, and close family friend Chaim Tannenbaum, the latter playing Rufus’s late mother Kate McGarrigle’s iconic banjo.

“The older I get, the more I appreciate how valuable my folk knowledge is, to have had it ingrained in me as a child,” Wainwright says. “I’m from a bona fide folkocracy who mixed extensively with other folkocracies such as the Seegers and the Thompsons. I spun off into opera and pop. Now I’m back where it all began.”

Rolls-Royce Dawn

Heading into the Sunset

After concluding delivery of Dawn commissions to the United States concluded in 2022, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today signals the end of a glorious era as it ceases production Rolls-Royce Dawn, the iconic drop head. In this retrospective, the marque reflects on the best-selling drophead in the brand’s history as it takes its own unique place in the pantheon of great Rolls-Royce motor cars.

CONTEMPORARY GLAMOUR AND ROMANCE

Following the success of Phantom VII, and its stablemates Phantom Coupé and Phantom Drophead Coupé, an increasingly youthful, universally self-confident and sociable client base was drawn to the Rolls-Royce brand. These new super-luxury consumers required a motor car that, like the first transformative models of Rolls-Royce’s Goodwood era, captured the glamour and romance of super-luxury motoring; but did so in a fashion completely in tune with their contemporary tastes and lifestyles.

EXQUISITE ELEGANCE PAIRED WITH LUXURIOUS COMFORT

‘La dolce vita’ was a life filled with passion, adventure and romance. It was sensuous and sensual, a celebration of decadence, indulgence and pleasure in all its forms. It was this spirit that Rolls-Royce wanted to capture in its new drophead, expressed through timeless form language, contemporary craft and an effortless yet potent dynamic character.

The boldness of that vision was reflected in Dawn’s design. Its pure, simple form was inspired by fifties and sixties fashion, which evoked glamour by removing superfluous lines and textures, focussing instead on how it amplified the form of the wearer. Similarly, Dawn’s supple, flowing coachwork wraps around its occupants akin to raising a collar on an overcoat, affording those inside a cossetting, private and chic cabin experience.

In creating Dawn, 80% of the panels were entirely unique, including a ‘wake channel’ on the bonnet emanating from the Spirit of Ecstasy, evoking the sensation of quietly gathering energy while provisioning drivers with a permanent vanishing point – a design feature that endures on Rolls-Royce motor cars today.

However, in one vital respect, Dawn broke with a long-established automotive design convention. Almost without exception, convertibles are designed in a 2+2 configuration, with full-size seating for the driver and one passenger in the front, plus two smaller seats for occasional passengers or children in the rear. The lack of rear-seat space, and particularly legroom, reduces the car’s comfort and practicality – a shortcoming Rolls-Royce refused to accept. Dawn was therefore a full four-seater with comfortable, individual seating for all occupants.

A MODEL TESTING PROGRAMME

In quintessential Rolls-Royce style, engineers spent months optimizing the convertible experience with an exhaustive testing program – neither eliminating airflow completely nor permitting disruptive levels into the cabin. To achieve this, the test subject was a modified mannequin provisioned with a wig of long, flowing hair. It was chauffeured for hundreds of hours, while a bank of sensors and cameras faithfully recorded how the hair was displaced by the moving air. The resulting data enabled engineers to make Dawn the world leader in aerodynamic comfort with the roof open.

Indeed, during a product experience later in Dawn’s life, an American journalist passed through an area as it was struck by an earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale, followed by a 2.7 aftershock; such was the smoothness of the ride, he learned of this only when he read about it in the press the following morning. BLACK BADGE DAWN

In 2017, Rolls-Royce added Black Badge Dawn to its model family. Like the Ghost and Wraith that preceded it, Dawn’s alter ego derived its character from a series of engineering and design treatments. An entirely new exhaust system added a bass baritone quality to the engine note. While appealing to the rebel spirit that attracts so many to this noire expression of the brand, Black Badge Dawn created its own singular place in the Rolls-Royce Pantheon – one characterized by the romance and seduction of the city at night.

A LASTING LEGACY

Beyond its desirability, Dawn brought the spirit of ‘la dolce vita’ to Rolls-Royce’s contemporary brand promise through an exquisite marriage of seductive design, contemporary materials, and a social, open-air driving experience. In doing so, Dawn has ensured its legacy by compelling an entirely new generation to the marque.
