To celebrate the big news she just delivered a showstopping performance of “Rather Be” as part of the first-of-its-kind performance and content series launched by Motown Records and COLORSxSTUDIOS in honor of Black Music Month. Her instantly recognizable vocals take flight on this fan favorite from 2020’s B7.

Responds to SCOTUS Decision

Abigail Echo-Hawk (Pawnee), Executive Vice President of Seattle Indian Health Board issued the following statement after hearing the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Seattle Indian Health Board is appalled by the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which will disproportionately impact Native and BIPOC communities. The right for women to make decisions over their bodies and for their wellbeing has just been taken away.

While the Seattle Indian Health Board does not provide abortion services due to the strict regulations of federal funding, we adamantly support the right of individuals looking to access this essential service.

There are misconceptions about abortions that have been perpetually enforced by religious radicals, but people need to understand that reproductive rights and systemic violence are inextricably linked, and this decision means we will likely see violence against Native women increase, which our community already experiences at some of the highest rates.

We will likely see a rise in the deaths of Native mothers and babies during pregnancies, which our community also already experiences at some of the highest rates.

When we factor in the statistics—and the federal government’s history of creating barriers for Native communities to access necessary services—it’s clear that the Supreme Court considers Native people irrelevant.

While there is a lot of work to be done to fix the harm that has happened today, we will keep fighting for our people and the right to sovereignty over our bodies.”

Exodus: Deluxe Edition

The Marley Family, Island Records, and UMe mark the 45th anniversary of Exodus – named the “Best Album of the 20th Century” by Time magazine in 1999 – with the digital premiere of three of the four nights from Bob Marley & the Wailers’ historic run at London’s Rainbow Theatre and a consolidated, revised digital Exodus: Deluxe Edition.

Following an assassination attempt in Kingston, Jamaica, in December 1976, Bob Marley and his band moved to London – in “exodus” from their home country – and recorded tracks for what became both the Exodus and Kaya albums. Marley’s Exodus, featuring the timeless tracks “Jamming,” “Three Little Birds,” “One Love/People Get Ready,” and the epic title song, came first, which led to early positive reviews, ten early dates around Western Europe and shows at the Rainbow Theatre in London’s Finsbury Park during release week. But an injury to Bob led to the abrupt cancellation of the rest of the Exodus tour, including expected U.S. breakthrough shows scheduled for late summer, leaving June 1-2-3-4 the final performances by the Wailers that year.

“London was one of Daddy’s favorite places to be; it’s the city where his songwriting and creativity thrived. The Exodus album and his shows at The Rainbow are incredible examples of that. I’m so excited that his fans will finally be able to hear all four shows, in their entirety, the way they were meant to be heard, for generations to come.” – Cedella Marley

A select number of tracks from each of the four nights of the Live at the Rainbow recordings have been included on previously released Deluxe Editions of Exodus, and audio and video of the full concert on June 4 was released during the year-long 75th Birthday Celebration, #Marley75, in 2020. Most of the legendary performances from the previous three nights, however, feature slightly different setlists – as well as alternate arrangements – that have never been heard until now. Bob Marley & The Wailers Live at the Rainbow: 1st June 1977 debuted June 3, the exact 45th anniversary of the original album’s release; Live at the Rainbow: 2nd June 1977 followed on June 10; and Live at the Rainbow: 3rd June 1977 concluded the series on June 17. Across the three dates are 29 previously unreleased performances combined – that’s more than ¾ of the shows.

To round out the 45th Anniversary celebration, a revised and newly remastered Exodus: Deluxe Edition was released on June 24. The Deluxe Edition features the ten original tracks from the album, plus 18 Singles & Sessions tracks; 13 of them are culled from two previous Deluxe Editions and adds previously unreleased tracks “Natural Mystic (Alternate Version),” and “The Heathen (Alternate Version),” and the rare 7-inch versions of “Exodus,” “Jamming” and “Punky Reggae Party,’ the original B-side to “Jamming.” In addition to the unreleased tracks, the last two cuts were previously unavailable at all streaming services. Closing the deluxe are two additional bonus tracks: the edited live versions of “So Much Things To Say” from the June 1st show, previously released on the Deluxe Edition of Exodus 40 – The Movement Continues in 2017, and “Exodus,” the finale from the Rainbow’s June 2nd set, previously featured on the album’s 2001 Deluxe Edition. Each performance is otherwise presented unedited within their respective live set. To listen to Bob Marley & the Wailers’ Exodus: Deluxe Edition, click HERE.

Tick Test article illustrated by Nandini Kuppa-Apte via 360 Magazine

Tick Test – Reduce Lyme Infection

Between global warming and the post-pandemic push to move to the suburbs, there has been a huge uptick in the number of tick-borne illnesses. Lyme, recently dubbed the fastest growing disease in the world, is a major concern primarily in the Northeast but there are a host of other tick-borne illnesses including 15 others such as Borrelia, Powassan, and Alpha-gal Syndrome. Bottom line: reduce the chance of infection by removing ticks fast and safely. Get detailed information, illustrations, and videos about how to check yourself, your family, and your pets for ticks, and how to remove them correctly, at TickEase.com.

1.       Ticks only bite in the summer—False

Ticks are active year-round and found in all 50 states. Nymphal ticks are harder to see and are out in the spring and early summer.  Cold weather does not kill them. They are mostly dormant but have been seen in February thanks to global warming.

2.       Ticks only live in wooded areas, not the beach—False

Ticks also hide in bushes, ground cover, and beach grass.

3.       You must live near deer to find deer ticks—False

Deer are not the only deer hosts. They feed on mice, birds, chipmunks, raccoons, squirrels, birds, and even reptiles. Ticks have been around for millions of years and have infected many food sources.

4.       Ticks jump from trees or fly—False

No, ticks do not jump or fly but they do climb trees and hide in the bark. They usually stay closer to the ground waiting for prey, such as you or your pet.

5.       You can feel a tick bite you—False

Untrue as ticks secrete a numbing agent before they bite. Fewer than 50 percent of Lyme patients recall being bitten.

6.       Ticks can smell blood—False

Ticks can detect carbon dioxide, ammonia in sweat, and heat from potential hosts. Your breath is their favorite scent. No amount of insect repellent can detect you from 50 feet or more away.

7.       Ticks must remain attached to you for 24-36 hours to transmit a disease—False

The length of time a tick stays attached depends on the tick species, tick life stage, and host response to the bite. The bottom line: You want to get rid of a tick as quickly as possible. An infected tick can transmit the deadly Powassan virus in a matter of minutes.

8.       Best way to remove a tick is with a match—False

This is potentially dangerous and painful. Agitating the tick can put you at a higher risk of exposure.  Other popular myths about removing ticks by smothering it with oil, butter, nail polish, nail polish remover, dish detergent, Vaseline, alcohol, or aftershave all pose the same risk as burning.

9.       A tick head borrowed under your skin can transmit disease after you remove the body—False

Ticks don’t have heads. They have barbed mouth parts that can remain in the skin if the entire tick is not removed. These can cause skin inflammation or local infection.

10.   Dispose of an embedded tick by flushing it down the toilet—False

There are several reasons not to flush it. It is best to save the tick and so it can tested if needed, and many states have free testing services.  It’s helpful to know what type of tick bit you and what type of pathogens or parasites it is carrying.

11.   If you get Lyme from a tick, a bullseye rash will appear—False

Less than 50% of Lyme disease patients ever find a bullseye rash or any rash at all. Rashes can present in many different ways. Some are red and some are pink. Some are big and blotchy or spotted.

12.   If your blood test is negative, you have not been infected—False

There’s still no reliable blood test for tick-borne diseases. That’s why it’s so important to be vigilant about checking for ticks and removing them properly if you find one.

This time around, she made a conscious decision to hark back to the signature sound she introduced on her 2015 full-length debut, TITLE, and bring it forward to today.

About the album, Meghan said, “I tried to do the doo-wop feel I had at the beginning of my career, but the 2022 version of it. This is from the new Meghan who is a wife and mom with a baby. This is from me right now. I decided to give the people what they want, but with my spices added to it. I wanted to make my Title 2.0.

To bring the record to life, she worked closely alongside a “core squad” of Gian StoneFederico VindverSean Douglas, and little brother Justin Trainor out of her own home studio. Musically, she integrates doo-wop and classic harmonies into one anthem after another taking you through her journey into marriage, motherhood, and achieving a new level of confidence.

It’s embodied on the bold and bright new single  “Bad For Me,” featuring Teddy Swims, out today. The track finds the powerhouse tapping into her doo-wop roots once more with a whole lot of fresh fire. Throwback harmonies underline a simmering groove as she opens up lyrically. On the chorus, she urges, “Please don’t make promises that you can’t keep. Your best intentions end up hurting me.” Meanwhile, Teddy appears with a seismic and show-stopping vocal turn of his own. Together, they uplift the lyrics with undeniable energy. Listen HERE.

Directed by Thom Kerr (Iggy Azalea, Kim Petras), the accompanying video finds Meghan and Teddy in a symbolic and surreal world full of flowers. As the video fluctuates between different landscapes, it showcases the journey that writing and recording this song has taken Meghan on. It’s one in which she has found light and new beginnings in distancing herself from toxic relationships. Watch HERE.

Regarding “Bad For Me, Meghan commented, “My dad actually sent me Teddy’s video for ‘Broke’, and I’ve been so obsessed with him ever since. It’s a dream to record with someone who has that good of a voice, and he’s the sweetest guy ever. The song is a true story for me. It’s about how I stood up for myself and took a step back from a relationship that was hurting me more than anything. It’s hard to do, but I needed to in order to feel better.

Meghan and Teddy will be performing “Bad For Me,” for the first time, on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this Friday, June 24th. Get ready for more very soon as Meghan takes it back in 2022.

Marcus King – LIE

Marcus King today announced the release of “Lie Lie Lie,” the latest preview track from his forthcoming solo album, Young Blood. More about Marcus King:

GRAMMY® Award-nominated artist, performer, and songwriter Marcus King was downright destined to play music. By eight-years-old, the fourth generation Greenville, SC native performed alongside pops, grandpa, and his uncles for the first time. Logging thousands of miles on the road as “The Marcus King Band,” he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess and a dynamic live show. During 2020, he linked up with Dan Auerbach [The Black Keys] and cut his solo debut El Dorado, garnering a GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of “Best Americana Album.” Beyond praise from NPR, American Songwriter, and more, Rolling Stone christened it “excellent,” and Associated Press went as far as to claim, “El Dorado already stands out as a definite high point of 2020.” In between packing venues on his own, he performed alongside Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Nathanial Rateliff in addition to gracing the bills of Stagecoach and more with one seismic show after the next. Along the way, he caught the attention of Rick Rubin and signed to American Recordings.

Plugged into his old man’s dusty amp with a ’59 Les Paul in hand, Marcus set out to make a rock ‘n’ roll record in 2022. He didn’t disguise his ambitions at all. He didn’t hold back. He didn’t think about anything but writing from the gut, shooting from the hip, and playing straight from the heart. Joined by Auerbach, he made the kind of rock ‘n’ roll record that makes arenas and asses shake, and it’s called Young Blood [American Recordings/Republic Records].

United States Supreme Court takes away Women Rights to Abortion via Women March Action for use by 360 MAGAZINE

Women’s March Action

Today, the United States Supreme Court in a 6-3 decision, overturned Roe v. Wade, ruling that a women’s right to an abortion is unconstitutional.

The following statement can be attributed to said Emiliana Guereca, Executive Director, Women’s March Action:

“The right wing has taken over the Supreme Court and women’s rights are being decimated. Today’s decision led by an extreme right majority on the nation’s highest Court will set women, and us all, back decades.

Women and our allies – who make up the majority of the country — will not stand idly by and watch our rights stripped from us without recourse. We will fight back. We will take to the streets in red to show the blood they have on their hands.

The work is already underway and will continue to put a stop to the draconian rollback of our rights and freedoms.

Come November, we will elect pro-reproductive rights candidates across the country and bring us back to 21st Century America, when a woman has the freedom to make decisions over her own body and life.

This decision puts the next generation and those to come at grave risk. We have failed our daughters and granddaughters. We will continue to take to the streets and to the polls to fight for our bodily autonomy.

Today’s decision is perhaps the starkest reminder that the small, extreme few can control the many. We must defend our Democracy and not allow them to take anything more away from us.”
