Thrice Announces New Album Horizons/East

Thrice releases new single, Scavengers, in anticipation of their new album, Horizons/East, out this fall.

Returning with their 11th studio album, the dynamic and explorative California-based rock band Thrice announces new album Horizons/East, out September 17 via Epitaph Records on streaming platforms. The album exemplifies art as a work of recognition: the human task of perceiving oneself amid details, disasters, and blessings as a relentlessly relational phenomenon among others. In this, Horizons/East is the rare rock album on which interrelatedness is a theme, painting an adventurous and lush landscape mixed by Scott Evans that the band self-produced and recorded at their own New Grass Studio.

The powerful new single, Scavengers, is out today. Over a dark and intricate braiding of guitar and drum grooves, the lyrics challenge us to discern the issues and information that bonds us versus what disintegrates and destroys. For vocalist Dustin Kensrue, the song is – but also kind of isn’t – a thing of the past. Whether lost in a media diet that is essentially a disinformation pipeline or, relatedly, trapped in fear of a future of eternal conscious pain, Kensrue speaks of “toxic worldviews I once inhabited, and in truth, a lot of people that I love are still in that place.”

To emerge from a global pandemic with a renewed sense of situational awareness, hard-won insight, and a new album is the kind of move we’ve come to expect from Thrice over the last twenty years. With Horizons/East, Kensrue and his bandmates address, with candor and courage, the fragile and awkward arrangements that pass for civilization, while inviting us to dwell more knowingly within our own lives. Without surrendering any of the energy and hard edge of their previous albums, they’ve given us a profoundly meditative work, which serves as a musical summons to everyday attentiveness.

Horizons/East conveys a palpable sense of danger, determination, and possibility. Some of the writing even began with open-ended challenges that the band laid on themselves like building a song using the quartal chords they found in much of the jazz they loved, or taking the Fibonacci sequence and turning it into a guitar riff.

Thrice seems ever eager to step out into these spaces unknown to them, unsure of where their feet will land, and this new record is no exception. Horizons/East is a soundtrack for deeper dreaming.

UNSTOPPABLE

“There’s a moment in your bones when the fire takes over,” declares LA rock band The Score–Eddie Anthony and Edan Dover – in their triumphant anthem, “Unstoppable”. Partnering with the Jeep brand for a newly-minted campaign, The Score proves that while life has a million trails, you were built for all of them.

Watch the Jeep Dial  | Grand Cherokee spot HERE, and the Jeep Dial | Compass spot HERE.

Unstoppable”is about the belief that nothing can stand in your way,” says Anthony. Dover continues, “And just turning that dial up until you break through to the other side.”

Generating over 45 million cumulative streams to date, “Unstoppable” can be found on the band’s full-length debut, ATLAS [Republic Records]—available now.

This spring, The Score support Echosmith on the Inside A Dream tour across North America. It kicks off April 4 at Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA, rolls through major markets coast to coast, and wraps up at The Fonda Theater in Los Angeles, CA on May 12. Check out the full itinerary below.

Tickets are on sale now.

In 2015, The Score unleashed their debut Where Do You Run EP to critical reception – with 26 million Spotify streams and counting. Not only did they gain the attention of BBC Radio in the UK, but activated a dedicated fan base who propelled them into a worldwide deal with Republic Records. The band returned in 2016 with the Unstoppable EP, notching 30 million Spotify streams from their fans, and in 2017 with the Myths & Legends EP with 27 million streams to date. Their songs have been motivating fans worldwide who discover the band through the likes of the NBA, movies such as Power Rangers and Pitch Perfect 3, as well as major brands such as Jeep. Culminating in ATLAS (Deluxe) in 2017, it all adds up to The Score’s album being streamed over 110 million times on Spotify and counting. Along the way, they would earn acclaim from Billboard, Nylon, Diffuser, and more in addition to landing critical placements in film and TV.
