IMOT × Museum of the Jewish People to Host Grand Reopening

To announce the newest renovations to the Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, the Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) has partnered to host a special Grand Reopening Webinar on Wednesday, September 9 at 1 p.m. EST / 10 a.m. PST. Participants from the United States and Canada will be taken on a museum tour led by Museum CEO Dan Tadmor and North American Sales Manager Grace Rapkin, which will showcase a sneak peek of the new three-floor Core Exhibition, which is scheduled to open this winter.

The opening of the new Core Exhibition is the capstone of a 12-year renewal process and $100 million capital campaign. In 2016, the museum opened a new wing, with two permanent exhibitions, including the museum’s renowned synagogue models, a fully interactive children’s exhibition and galleries for temporary, rotating exhibitions. Work on the new Core Exhibition began in 2017 and is on target for completion in 2020.

“We are ecstatic about the new exhibition that we are opening at the Museum of the Jewish People,” said Tadmor. “Webinar participants – and future museum visitors – will be taken on a journey through Jewish culture and history, showcasing the great minds of the Jewish people and the contributions they have, and continue to make, to society.”

“The Museum of the Jewish People is a great destination for anyone who wants to learn more about Jewish culture and history when visiting Tel Aviv,” said Eyal Carlin, IMOT Tourism Commissioner for North America. “This new exhibition presents innovative state-of-the art storytelling that the museum is most known for, offering interactive displays that showcase key art, artifacts, people and places most important to the Jewish heritage.”

About the New Exhibition

The new exhibition will triple the museum’s gallery space to 66,000 square feet. The story begins on the third floor, which presents Jewish culture and the contribution Jews have made to global civilization in the past and in modern times. The second floor follows the timeline of Jewish history, from Biblical times to the present. The exhibit ends on the ground floor, where visitors will be taken through the key tenets of Jewish life: Bible, Shabbat, Covenant and Prayer. Here guests learn about the foundational concepts of Jewish faith and the values shared by Jews and Christians alike.

SSPBA endorses Donald Trump

Southern States Police Benevolent Association, Inc. (SSPBA) announced today that it is endorsing Donald Trump for President in the 2020 election. SSPBA board members and representatives met with Vice President Mike Pence in Raleigh today to announce the endorsement. SSPBA is composed of over 60,000 law enforcement officer members throughout the Southeast. This is the association’s first presidential endorsement in over twenty years.

“With the stakes as high as they are for the law enforcement profession today, we felt that we must speak up in support of the true law enforcement candidates,” said Chris Skinner, SSPBA president.

“President Trump has been unwavering in his support of law enforcement,” President Skinner continued.  “He has shown time and again that he stands behind the men and women who put on their uniform and badge and go to work each day,” President Skinner said.  “In these times when many are attacking the law enforcement profession, it is imperative that law enforcement officers know that they are not on their own as they face the dangers of their job.  We believe that President Trump and Vice President Pence have demonstrated that they understand and appreciate the honor and sacrifice of serving as a law enforcement officer.”

“The number one priority of government is to provide for safety and protection of the citizens. We are convinced that President Trump recognizes the fact that law enforcement and law enforcement officers are vital to the strength and stability of our communities,” President Skinner added. “We support President Trump and Vice President Pence because we know that they are the candidates who will continue to support us.”

DOOR COUNTY – SUMMER 2020

By Elle Grant × Vaughn Lowery

People might hesitate to think of Wisconsin as a summer destination, but Door County proves otherwise is true. At the end of August, 360 Magazine was able to spend some time in this beautiful area, connecting with nature and the local cuisine. Door County features an array of activities based in its spectacular natural environment, for both those seeking a more tranquil getaway and for the thrill seekers. All this paired alongside local eats made for an outstanding end of summer getaway.

A favorite of summer tourists, Door County becomes a hub between Memorial and Labor Day each year with summer visitors arriving from the more metropolitan areas of Milwaukee, Chicago, Green Bay, and the Twin Cities. Generally, the population is just under 30,000 but swells over the summer with tourists. Ithas earned the nickname “the Cape Cod of the Midwest.” Local industry includes the aforementioned tourism, but their fishing industry as well as local agriculture also are economic staples for Door County. to five state parks and ten lighthouses, Door County is known for its natural scenery above all else, as well as their beaches. Its location makes it the perfect location for all kinds of getaways, from a family adventure, to a couple’s retreat, or even for a late summer wedding destination.

With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, not all travel is virus friendly. Luckily, as Door County’s out of doors experiences are the area’s focal point, travel to this area is far more in line with social distancing andgovernment advisories compared to other options. Safety and health precautions were taken throughout this experience. The outdoor adventure focus made it the perfect getaway during these complex times.

Starting off our stay at Bayshore Inn lodging, we were immediately impressed with both the indoor and outdoor swimming pool, gym, game room and private beach. Their evening bonfires were especially fun – reminiscent of the best parts of summer camp! Our rooms were also incredibly spacious and featured a balcony along with a full kitchen. A fireplace, while not as helpful in August, would make a winter stay beyond cozy. Our first dinner, at the nearby Fred & Fuzzy’s Waterfront Grill in Sister Bay kicked off our stay perfectly. A purple and orange Wisconsin sunset colored the sky over old-fashioned cocktails.

During our stay, we quickly came to appreciate the raw beauty of Door County. Kayaking at the Door Country Adventure Center proved to be a remarkable experience. Taking a kayak along the Lake Michigan shoreline, we were able to witness the geologic wonders of Cave Point County Park – more natural sights to Wisconsin than we ever expected. Moving along the water felt like we were paddling through a still mirror – gorgeous. After a mile from our start point, the coves and caves of the area began to reveal themselves both above and below the waterline. This can only be experienced from the point of view of the water and navigating this area by kayak seems to be the best option by far to see these phenomenal geological sites.

An immediate standout was a bike ride along the Sunset Trail. This 10-mile bike path through all types of landscapes truly conveyed the varied scenery including Weborg Marsh, cedar and maple tree groves, and cliff communities. It begins near the Fish Creek entrance to Peninsula State Park and would be suitable for most novices but warned the hills can invite a bit of a challenge. Some of our party had to “walk” rather than “ride” up a few hills. Yet the views are worth it and not to be missed! Towards the end of the trail is one of Door County’s ten lighthouses which offers classic coastal charm. For those not faint of heart, there is cliff-jumping as well. Wisconsin’s one and only. Our experience was nothing short of heart-stopping. The thrill of leaping into stunning waters is well-worth facing any fears!

At Wisconsin’s only wildernessstate park, Newport State Park, we had the opportunity to go stargazing. Away from the bustle and pollution of the city, the night skies were flooded with stars. There is something particularly spiritual about the natural world by night.

The next morning, another unique experience along the Door County coast was that of morning paddleboard yoga. Bringing our yoga afloat on the waters of Lake Michigan proved a new experience but was very beginner-friendly and inclusive. The boards were weighted down with anchors to ensure that keeping balance was on us – not the waves! Both breath work and more advanced yoga postures are included with classes with Bay Shore Outfitters, and a paddle along the shore of Sister Bay afterwards was the perfect way to cap the morning.

Door County’s cuisine dazzled throughout our stay, but especially at Sonny’s Italian Kitchen and Pizzeria were our tastebuds set alight. A family-friendly restaurant overlooking Sturgeon Bay, their Chicago-style pizzas, tasty appetizers, and pasta dishes all impressed. Another culinary standout included a fish boil at the Old Post Office Restaurant. This dining experience is unique to the region, featuring Lake Michigan whitefish caught by local fishermen, paired with potatoes and a classic cherry pie. It proved to be a meal that was tasty, educational, and true to tradition, fun to share with others. Other treats like cinnamon rolls Grandma’s Swedish Bakery, Door County cherry margaritas, or tacos from Taco Cerveza made for a deliciously varied experience.

All in all, the experiences 360 magazine had in Door County, Wisconsin have transformed our understanding of the state forever. The natural beauty of the area isn’t to be underestimated – with the striking vistas along Lake Michigan, it was the perfect way to end summer 2020.

Small Apartment Hacks

Is your apartment so cramped it feels more like a prison cell than a home?

When you live in a small apartment such as a studio, you’ll be constantly battling to find space for all your stuff.

But the more stuff you have, the more claustrophobic your home becomes, creating disorder and stress, making you want to leave just to catch a breath.

But it needn’t be that way.

Because here you’ll find some really smart small apartment hacks that’ll maximize your space and transform your home for the better.

  1. Lighten Up

Lighting is one of the most important aspects of a home, particularly when it’s lacking in space. Not only does it affect how the space feels, but it also has a huge impact on your psychological wellbeing.

If your apartment is dark and gloomy like a cave, you’ll feel dark and gloomy yourself. Plus you’ll struggle to find things, create excess stress, and it creates the effect of a smaller living space.

To begin with, try to get as much natural light in as possible as it’s far better than artificial. So keep your windows as clutter-free as you can. If you can’t get much light, you can get some lightbulbs that mimic natural light and work great.

The lighting will also affect where you put things like furniture. So of course you’ll want more light in areas such as a workspace and kitchen, but maybe a dimmer, cozy lighting for your lounge or bedroom.

  1. Command Your Colors

In a similar way to light, all colors have a profound effect on how we feel in a space. They can brighten up a place or darken it. They can work exquisitely with the design flow, or they can clash quite horrifically.

Therefore, it’s best to have colors that work well together such as similar shades (e.g. white or cream with pastel yellow or blue).

Of course the lighter the colors, the more vibrant and spacious the space will feel.

Naturalistic colors like green, blue, yellow, and brown, all have a calming effect and have even shown to boost mood and reduce stress.

Strong, dark colors like black or red can have the opposite effect such as increased energy and productivity.

Achieving optimal lighting and color schemes are among the most effective life hacks for small apartments. So experiment with it and be strategic in matching them to the space accordingly.

  1. Smarter Storage

The one thing we always need more of is storage. Of course the longer we live somewhere, the more stuff we accumulate.

But storage doesn’t have to end at boxes, cupboards, and drawers. In fact, you can easily take what storage you have and give it an upgrade to maximize its capacity.

Here are some quick storage hacks anyone can make:

  • Add hanging racks and shelves to your closet
  • Use caddies to store extra things on existing furniture
  • Install a mirror cabinet in the bathroom
  • Place a shelving unit around the sink or toilet, or hang one in the shower
  • Place sticky hooks inside cupboard doors to hold pot lids and utensils
  • Add extra clip-on shelves to cupboards and wardrobes

These are just a few creative Ikea hacks that take full advantage of empty space that would otherwise go unused. With a little creativity, you’ll be surprised at what extra space you can make.

  1. Slicker Shelving

Shelves are a great way to use empty wall space, but at the same time, you don’t want to feel like you’re trapped in a library. Bookshelves are also quite cumbersome and require some of your precious floor space to stand.

A good fix for this is to put up floating shelves. They’re easy to install, take up very little room (no brackets!), and they look very minimal and neat. Definitely worth a try.

Alternatively, if you have a corner to spare, stick a corner bookshelf there. These are great as they make use of an area that isn’t typically used, and you can take it all the way to the ceiling if you like!

Shelves can be added almost anywhere with little space or effort, so take a good look around your place and make use of wasted space.

  1. Furniture That Flourishes

You may feel attached to your chair or bed, but is it really a good fit for a smaller space?

These days there’s all sorts of multipurpose furniture that not only saves you space but increases it significantly.

If you have space under your bed already that’s great, but did you know you could get raisers to lift your bed higher, creating even more space beneath?

If not, the other options include a bed with built-in drawers, a raising bed lid with storage underneath, a folding futon, or you could even install a wall-mounted pull-down bed so it can be folded away during the day.

And the folding frenzy doesn’t end there!

Take a look at your other furniture and see if you can find a folding substitute. You can get all sorts of smart, space-saving chairs, tables, and desks to bring out as and when they’re needed. Then stowed away neatly out of sight.

If you don’t like the foldable stuff, why not opt for something clearer. Glass tables and clear acrylic chairs are less noticeable as you can see right through them, making your space appear a little more spacious.

  1. Bring the Outdoors In

If you’ve ever walked amongst nature, or even relaxed in a garden, you’ll have surely noticed the effects it had on your wellbeing.

The great outdoors brings the benefits of sunshine, fresh air, open space, and lots of green goodness, all of which creates feelings of calm and relaxation.

What’s more, the color green has been shown to boost creativity as well as a calming, stress-relieving effect.

So when you’re confined to a smaller space, it makes sense to bring as much of the outdoors into your home. Just don’t turn it into a jungle!

You can add these elements of freshness and tranquillity by simply adding a few plants here and there. And to save space, try placing them on shelves, hanging baskets, or on the window sill.

  1. Tidy up and Get Creative

Okay, it might go without saying that keeping tidy creates more space, but by organizing things and maintaining cleanliness regularly ensures you keep that space you’ve created.

When a space is cluttered, your mind feels cluttered and chaotic. So by reducing your clutter, things become more organized, ordered, and easier to maintain.

Put your own stamp on the place with some creative approaches such as putting your mirror on the back of a door, or dividing up a room with a wall made out of a bookshelf unit.

If you’re a dab hand at DIY, get your tools out and start building some of your own hacks to organize your space. This allows you to customize your creations to your purpose and your liking.

Small Apartment Hacks Bring Huge Potential

Living in a smaller space might feel limiting at first, but by implementing these small apartment hacks, you can maximize the space and make it a home to be proud of.

Aside from creating a more liveable and inviting home, you can really add some character that no one else has in theirs.

And once you’ve got everything perfectly organized and tailored to your liking, you’ll feel so much better in yourself as well as your amazing home.

Jeremy Zucker – supercuts

Today, Platinum-Certified singer, songwriter and producer Jeremy Zucker unveils the video for his latest single, “supercuts”—watch HERE!

Directed by Jason Lester [JP Saxe & Julia Michaels, Lauv, Fall Out Boy] and shot in Los Angeles, the feel-good video celebrates the last days of a suburban summer and brings the sunny “supercuts” to life. Since its release, “supercuts” has amassed over 15 million global streams and 2 million lyric video views. Earlier this month, Zucker made his late night television debut performing the song socially-distanced in New York on The Late Late Show with James Corden—watch the performance HERE!

Of the video, Jeremy says, “For the music video, I wanted to play off of iconic, memorable images from my upbringing in a very typical American suburb. The crew and I had a lot of fun capturing these moments using interesting angles, surrealist creative direction and just giving me the space to feel comfortable being myself on camera.”

“supercuts” was co-written and co-produced by Jeremy and Max Martin’s MXM camp in Stockholm, Sweden. Sunny guitar strums back-and-forth, as Zucker candidly details being in a relationship that you know is inevitably going to fail. Minimal instrumentation and bright chords offset the sing-song hook, “I don’t want to make your momma cry at dinner and see her at the mall next winter, at Supercuts, she hates my guts, well alright.”
