Swae Lee Hot New Track

Today, Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum artist and global entertainer, Swae Lee, returns with the release of his hot new highly-anticipated single and video for “Reality Check.”

The official video for the vibey and melodic track first leaked yesterday evening with an exclusive teaser which premiered on the content subscription service, OnlyFans, and kicked off the surprise launch of Swae Lee’s official OnlyFans account. “Reality Check” is the first single from Swae Lee’s forthcoming album, HUMAN NATURE to be released later this year.

This buzzing new single, produced by Jaxx follows the release of the lighthearted and cinematic visual for “Someone Said.” A video with a comedic take on Swae Lee, casting him as a celebrity court judge and placing him in the center of satirical commercial themes like, “As Seen On TV” ads for a “Swae Spa” and a “Swae-Sync, Greatest Hits Collection.”

ABOUT SWAE LEE

Born in Inglewood, California as Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, Swae Lee cites Texas as a focal point in his beginnings in music at the age of 11 or so, where he began to seriously pursue his musical interests.

Outside of school and familial extracurriculars, Swae would experiment with production, recording software, and learn how to mix audio. Swae, has made a name for himself outside of his duo work, showcasing himself as a force to be reckoned with both within and beyond the hip hop world, with tracks such as French Montana’s “Unforgettable” which peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and his impressive list of writing credits including the hook to Beyoncé’s “Formation” which peaked at #10 on Billboard Hot 100.

The younger and melodic half of southern hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd who are signed to the label, EarDrummers, Swae’s versatile music and sound that is undeniably and utterly Swae.

His melodic repertoire, however, is not relegated exclusively to the r&b and hip-hop sphere as his crooning can also take on ballad form and mesh into a more electronica background as well—a complex Gemini in many ways. Swae Lee’s accomplishments include the Grammy-nominated “Sicko Mode” with Travis Scott and Drake, which also landed at #1 on the Billboard charts and the 9x platinum hit, “Sunflower” featuring Post Malone, which held the #1 spot on the Billboard charts. Swae’s goals for his music as universal and far-reaching—with projected listeners ranging from doctors to lawyers to kids and “whatever lifestyle you live”, as Swae puts it—but entirely unique to what is popular and being produced today are not far off.

Continued Protection For DACA Recipients

The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that the Trump administration’s attempt to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy was unlawful. This is a huge victory for 700,000 people protected by DACA who have only known the United States as their home and will not have to immediately fear being deported to countries where they have no connections.

Alliance for Justice President Nan Aron released the following statement:

“Today’s ruling recognized that this administration’s rescission of DACA was nothing more than an outrageous abuse of power to attack DREAMERs and immigrant communities. It should come as no surprise that Justices Kavanaugh and Gorsuch dissented given their massive support for broad executive power and willingness to allow abuses of that power to go unchecked.

DACA recipients are an integral part of America’s tapestry. Amidst the global pandemic, DACA recipients have been on the front lines; they are medical workers caring for our families, educators rising to the challenge of distance learning, and service industry workers keeping open essential businesses. Today’s ruling grants temporary relief to hundreds of thousands of DREAMers to ensure they can continue contributing to their communities and living out their lives.

The fight to protect them is not over, however. Senate Republicans have advanced nearly 200 of Trump’s ultraconservative judges, including two dozen they knew to have egregious anti-immigrant records.

We must continue to fight for a justice system that protects all our rights, regardless of immigration status.”

Trippie Redd Drops New Single

Trippie Redd is keeping busy this quarantine; in May he released the single “Excitement” ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR and also featured on the late Juice WRLD’s postmortem single “Tell Me U Luv Me”. Today, theprolific rapper and singer shares his latest single “Dreamer” in honor of his 21st birthday, out now on 10K Projects/ Caroline. Zane Lowe aired “Dreamer” on his New Music Daily Beats 1 show this morning and caught up with Trippie via FaceTime.

One of the most versatile and creatively daring artists in hip-hop today, platinum-selling rapper, singer and songwriter Trippie Redd has landed four consecutive albums in the top 10 in just three years’ time. With the November 2019 release of A Love Letter To You 4—his first-ever album to debut at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart—Trippie offered up his most dynamic body of work to date, delivering a 21-track effort that amassed over 125.9 million streams in its first week alone. With his penetrating lyrics and nuanced but hard-hitting vocal performance, the 21-year-old Ohio native continually defies genre boundaries, embedding his melodic take on rap with elements of rock-and-roll and heavy metal to ultimately create a sound that’s wildly experimental yet massively appealing.

As he recalls, the urge to create his own music arose soon after his older brother, an aspiring rapper who went by the name Dirty Redd, died in a car accident when Trippie was 10. “I took his dream and did it myself,” Trippie says. Drawing much of his inspiration from the free-flowing style and inventive lyricism of Lil Wayne, Trippie began recording in his cousin’s basement and later relocated to Atlanta to further hone his skills, quickly landing a record deal with 10K Projects in 2017. Since then, he has had a deep commitment to evolving his sound and to constantly create new music, but despite his desire to continually evolve, there are certain qualities that endure across all of Trippie’s music—most notably, his penchant for crafting songs that hit on a visceral level. “I like making timeless music,” says Trippie. “You’ve got to think of a timeless concept—love, hate, anger, sadness—all that shit is timeless. And if you can make something without it just meaning one thing, people can feel it and turn it into their own. That’s what makes it timeless.”

COVID Collaboration Reducing Cases

A collaborative program developed at UVA Healthto work with local long-term care facilities to control COVID-19 is saving lives and offers a model for communities across the country, a new scientific paper reports.

The program has helped prevent COVID-19 infections and reducedmortality when outbreaks occur, its creators say. Of the first two facility outbreaks that the team has worked with, there were lower mortality rates than seen in previous outbreaks – 12% and 19%. That’s compared with a 28% mortality rate reported at a long-term care facility in Washington state.

“Developing this program has been a wonderful collaboration amongst many sites of care and types of care providers,” said UVA Health geriatrician Laurie R. Archbald-Pannone, MD, MPH, the program’s lead physician. “We call the program GERI-PaL – meaning Geriatric Engagement and Resource Integration for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Facilities – and it has been a great opportunity to bring together hospital and community-based resources to assist our local facilities in preventing and responding to COVID-19 outbreaks.”

A Practical Approach to Controlling COVID-19 Archbald-Pannone and her colleagues describe the program as a “practical approach” to controlling COVID-19 in long-term-carefacilities. Such facilities have been hard-hit by the pandemic because of the vulnerable health of many residents and the intensive nature of the care provided.

In their new paper, the UVA team highlights five key components of the program:

Infection advisory consultations: UVA Health infection-control experts worked hand-in-hand with the long-term care facilities to develop effective infection-control policies and address issues such as staffing needs and access to personal-protective equipment (PPE).

Project ECHO: A geriatrician, pulmonologist, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse leader and nurse educator were all made available using a model based on Project ECHO, a program that offers training and support for health professionals. The group met virtually with their colleagues at the nursing facilities to provide the latest COVID-19 information, testing and treatment guidance.

Telemedicine consultations: UVA Health pulmonary/critical-care and geriatric and palliative medicine experts provided consultations via telemedicine on testing, monitoring and treating facility residents for COVID-19. The team also facilitated transfers to the hospital, when needed, and transfers back to the nursing facilities when the patients had recovered sufficiently. The team also worked closely with the primary-care physicians to assist in decision-making and treatment of these patients.

Nursing liaisons: A nursing liaison offered concierge-style service for each facility, helping to keep lines of communication open and ensure any needs were met.

Resident social remote connections: Volunteer medical students spoke with residents by telephone to combat social isolation and keep their spirits up.

“This program has really been a team effort and highlights the dedication of colleagues across the healthcare continuum – physicians, nurses, administrators, technology experts, local health officials and more – all coming together to support work with our local facilities amidst the challenges of COVID-19,” Archbald-Pannone said. “We have all faced many challenges over the past few months. It’s been an honor to help support our local facilities and their dedicated staff members in the care of these vulnerable patients. Many of the systems we’ve put in place and lessons we have learned will be value to improve care beyond even COVID-19.”

The UVA Health team members have described their experiences in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association. The team consisted of Archbald-Pannone, Drew Harris, Kimberly Albero, Rebecca Steele, Aaron Pannone and Justin Mutter.

Teyana Taylor’s Exclusive Celeb Listening Event

Cardi B, Offset, Quavo, Winnie Harlow, Lena Waithe, Terrence J, and more joined Teyana Taylor at an exclusive LA listening event for THE ALBUM.

THE ALBUM, releasing Juneteenth, features special guests Rick Ross, Erykah Badu, Quavo, Missy Elliott, Future, Big Sean, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and more.

About Teyana Taylor

Being a jack of trades has enabled Teyana Taylor to become a master of all. From her smoky melodic vocals to her dynamic dance moves, the R&B superstar entertainer dips in dives between her talents as singer, songwriter, producer, director, dancer/choreographer, actor, fitness guru, model, and mother. When it comes to describing herself, the Harlem native can only think of one word: Everything.

“I literally can do everything. I never look at anything as being impossible,” she explains. “I exhaust all options to make what happen when I need to make happen.” Her mantra made her an early favorite to artists like Pharrell, who she signed her first deal with, and later choreographed videos for artists like Beyoncé and Jay-Z. In 2014, Teyana’s love for the arts and R&B earned her the title of the first woman signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint.

Between R&B’s identity crisis in the 2010s, Teyana dropped her debut album VII, with tracks like “Maybe” (featuring Yo Gotti and Pusha T) and the sultry “Just Different” shaping her musical persona. The critically acclaimed album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in 2014, cementing her position in today’s modern R&B field. “I fought for that raw, hood necessary R&B and now I feel like it’s better than ever,” she says.

After spicing up the R&B charts, Teyana was blessed with the arrival of her daughter Junie with husband and NBA star Iman Shumpert in 2015. “I do all of this for my baby. She’s who I do it for,” she says about Iman “Junie” Tayla Shumpert Jr., her main source of inspiration. “I always show her how to be a leader and a businesswoman. I want her to believe that she can be anything she wants to be and it not be a shocker that she’s a female doing it all.” Soon after, Teyana went on to star in the internet-breaking video (https://defjam.us13.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b52e78ece97447e472590f343&id=ebb0bed877&e=4792530c9f) for Kanye West’s “Fade,” and scored her first MTV Moonman for “Best Choreography” at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards.

But it wasn’t until the release of her second album project K.T.S.E.(released June 2018) that the world caught up with Teyana’s talents. With her all-female production company The Aunties, Teyana self-directed videos for “WTP,” the RIAA gold-selling single “Gonna Love Me,” (whose remix features Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Raekwon), and recently, “Issues/Hold On.” Teyana has also directed videos for her peers like T.I. (“You”), Monica (“Commitment”), and Lil Duval (“Pull Up” featuring Ty Dolla $ign) with fans like Ms. Lauryn Hill and Elton John praising her boss moves.

Part of what makes Teyana stand out from the rest is her ability to move with precision and poise in everything she does. From the studio to the stage, every idea is a project with the singer front and center with a vision all her own. With her musical inspirations like Aaliyah, Teena Marie, Mint Condition and Janet Jackson speaking to her soul, Teyana is aware her mission is larger than life. “I’m working on me every day and I think that’s my purpose,” she says, comparing her life to a never-ending book. “I’m still going, still mastering and being a better me.”
