MARVEL’S VOICES: WAKANDA FOREVER

Announced today at New York Comic Con, the Marvel’s Voices anthology series returns in February 2023 with MARVEL’S VOICES: WAKANDA FOREVER.

The special one-shot arrives just in time to celebrate Black History Month and puts the spotlight on iconic heroes of Wakanda. Black Panther, Shuri, Okoye, and more star in all-new stories by an incredible lineup of both fan-favorite creators and talent fresh to the Marvel Universe. Join them as they grow the inimitable world of Wakanda in these tales of myth, adventure, strife, and more! Creative teams for the book will be announced soon. 

The Marvel Universe is known for creating stories that reflect “the world outside your window.” For the past five years, Marvel’s Voices has worked to not only give a behind-the-page look at the creators of those stories but highlight the richness that makes up the Marvel Universe. Today, for the first time, Marvel brought that to New York Comic Con. 

The first-ever NYCC Marvel’s Voices panel was hosted by writer, editor, and podcast host Angélique Roché who was joined by Eve L. Ewing (Monica Rambeau: Photon), John Jennings (My Super Hero is Black), Danny Lore (Crypt of Shadows), Steve Orlando (Marauders), Cody Ziglar (Miles Morales: Spider-Man), and Marvel’s Voices Editor Sarah Brunstad
 
“Ever since we first started bringing Marvel’s Voices into our comics back in 2020, it’s been so inspiring to see our stories grow and evolve, bringing up a fantastic lineup of new characters and creators,” said Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. SEC Network’s TrueSouth Presented by Yellawood Moves Along to Madisonville, Tenn. on October 9

The fifth season of the critically acclaimed TrueSouth Presented by Yellawood continues on Sunday, Oct 9, with a Monroe County mountain trip to Madisonville, Tenn. The series, now in its fifth season on SEC Network, revolves around two food stories told from one place, which TrueSouth sets in conversation to make larger points about Southern beliefs and identities. Returning in season five is a special bonus episode with behind-the-scenes content and storytelling. 

Episode Summary 
TrueSouth drives the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, to dig for ramps along a creek bed and stoke the fires in a smokehouse by the highway.

Allan Benton, proprietor of Benton’s Smoky Mountain Country Hams in Madisonville, Tenn., cures and hickory smokes bacon and ham that have earned their place on the kitchen tables of working folks across the South, and on restaurant menus across the nation.

If you know artisan Southern goods, you know the scent that perfumes the air when his pork hits a cast iron skillet. But there’s a bigger story to tell here.

For episode 19, our crew goes home with Allan to get to know his wife Sharon and their children and grandchildren. We learn to bake biscuits with Sharon (and yes, we include her recipe). And to stir up a good gravy. More important, gathered in their kitchen, we get to witness the love and hard work that binds a man and a woman to their family, and their community.

Music is the backbone of our shows and this is one of our best lineups: Among other standouts, Valerie June, featured in our Brownsville, Tenn. episode, returns. And Darrell Scott, the great Tennessee songwriter, plays live for Allan and Sharon.

Season Summary 
Season five of TrueSouth began Sept. 11 with a marble game in Tompkinsville, Ky. Come November, we’ll be in Jackson, Miss. This December, we land in Brunswick and St Simons, Island, Ga. Join us in January for our second annual behind-the-scenes road trip across the belly of the SEC.

Marvel kicked off New York Comic Con with a special spotlight on CAPTAIN AMERICA: COLD WAR, the upcoming crossover between CAPTAIN AMERICA: SENTINEL OF LIBERTY and CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH! At Captain America: Cold War – A This Week in Marvel Special Event, co-hosts Ryan Penagos and Lorraine Cink of the This Week in Marvel podcast were joined by current Captain America scribes Collin Kelly, Jackson Lanzing, and Tochi Onyebuchi and star-spangled Marvel Comics Editor Alanna Smith to shed light on this exciting epic launching next year.

Expansion Follows the Success of Paris Saint-Germain’s Los Angeles and New York Flagship Store Grand Openings, operated by Lids

10-time French league winner Paris Saint-Germain today announced it is expanding its partnership with Fanatics and global leading sport retailer LIDS. As part of the Club’s ongoing partnership, Paris Saint-Germain will entrust Lids, which is part owned by Fanatics, to oversee operations for the Club’s European locations to create a unique and consistent retail experience in Europe and North America for sports fans and fashion enthusiasts alike.

Following the successful opening of the Fanatics and Lids-operated PSG debut permanent store in Los Angeles in 2021, and flagship store opening on New York’s highly coveted 5th Avenue in early 2022, the partnership will now expand to Europe, with Lids set to manage operations for the two stores and new Club locations.

The Paris Saint-Germain stores in Europe will feature the Club’s concept with the full and exclusive range including team jerseys, headwear, accessories, fashion collections, and exclusive product per location.

Doctor Tips for Keeping your Mind Sharp and Your Mood Up

We’ve heard lots about the changes that happen to your body during menopause – hot flashes, sleepless nights, and a true knock to your libido, to name a few. But what about what happens to your mind? Cognition and Mood is the theme for this year’s National Menopause Day because the changes to your mind and mojo are definitely affected by the physical changes in your body. 

But hey, it’s not all so bad! How about the top three upsides to menopause:

  • No more periods
  • No more PMS 
  • Sex for pure pleasure!

Looking at this life change positively helps with mindset, for sure. And – there are so many things you can do to take charge of this time in your life, especially when it comes to your mind and mood! 

The Mind + Body Connection and Menopause

The truth is a neurological change does happen with menopause. Hormonal changes can affect the chemicals in the brain. You aren’t just imagining it when you find yourself “searching for words” more often than not – menopause can cause a delayed verbal memory. General forgetfulness and some cognitive decline are normal for many. (Although it does come back post-menopause!) For some women, the neurological changes occurring around this time can trigger emotional issues like depression and anxiety.  The great news is there are things you can do to get through the peri, post, and menopausal years without losing your mind! 

Fight menopause brain fog and improve your mood with five simple steps:

  1. Protect the Heart – You may be surprised to learn how connected your heart and mind are. As progesterone and estrogen levels decrease with menopause, cholesterol levels can increase, upping the chances of heart disease.  Postmenopausal women are at an increased risk of mental deterioration due to cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and diabetes. Focus on small but mighty steps to being heart-healthy, like moderate exercise (starting with just a 10-minute walk a day), ditching bad habits like smoking and excessive drinking, and upping your healthy foods are great places to start.
  1. Stay Active – You already know that exercise may improve your mood, but it can also be highly beneficial for your brain. Exercise increases your neurotransmitters which pump up your endorphins – the feel-good chemicals that boost your mood. For extra endorphin boosting, invite a friend to walk with you. The friendship connection is powerful for endorphin levels too. Studies show that regular exercise changes the brain, not just cognition but also memory. (Oh, and added plus, regular exercise also boosts the libido.) And keep your mind active too. It’s the perfect time to feed your brain with stimulating hobbies to help it stay sharp – crosswords, reading, even chess!  
  1. Establish a Sleep Routine – Hormones and hot flashes significantly impact sleep. And we don’t have to tell you, but less sleep = a bad mood, especially as we age. Good sleep is also one of the primary factors for overall good health, and studies show that varied sleep schedules worsen women’s cognition skills. It’s all about routine and sticking with it. We’ve probably all heard the basics of developing a sleep schedule: setting a consistent bedtime, limiting alcohol, putting the screens away well before bed, and so on. Try finding a mantra you can say in the middle of the night to get yourself asleep quickly and shut down the nighttime worrying. Remember how we were told to “count sheep” when we were little? There is something to that. Figure out a way to keep your mind busy and the worries away, you aren’t going to solve any problems in the middle of the night, and everything looks brighter in the morning anyway! Putting sleep as a top health priority will pay off in many ways.
  1. Get your Mojo Back – Your estrogen, progesterone and testosterone dip following menopause, leading to changes in sexual drive. In addition, less estrogen means less blood flow to the vagina, more dryness, and painful intercourse. Also, mood disorders and depression can cause low self-esteem, physical fatigue, lowered libido, and Anorgasmia, or trouble having an orgasm. Cliovana can help with these issues. And… a bonus #6: Embrace this time in life! With middle age comes wisdom, unique opportunities to experience travel, go deeper in relationships, discover new hobbies, and more. We are all affected differently by our changing hormones. Every one of us going through menopause can focus on staying positive and not let menopause be a stumbling block to our happiness. 

Focus on what you CAN do to get your mind and body in a better place to handle the changes you can’t control.  You have the power to manage menopause and not let it rule you!

Euphoric and unapologetic, “Scandalous” is the perfect club-ready dance anthem. “I can hear your body talk, every word you’re saying,” Tinashe belts out over Gryffin’s shimmering synths. “Your silhouette on the wall, I think I like the game you’re playing.” The dizzying track captures the kind of lightning-in-a-bottle passion and uninhibited revelry that occurs when two people are magnetically drawn to each other on the dance floor.

“Scandalous” follows the recent release of Woke Up in Love,” Gryffin’s collaboration with fellow superstar producer Kygo and British vocalist Calum Scott. That track, which is being embraced by clubbers around the world, has amassed more than 10 million streams on Spotify in less than a month. Before that came “Reckless” featuring  and the OneRepublic-assisted “You Were Loved,” which has garnered more than 25 million Spotify streams.  

Next, Gryffin will showcase “Scandalous” in his new live set. The producer is currently gearing up for two of his biggest shows to date at Denver’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre and L.A.’s State Historic Park. Both are stops on his massively successful U.S. tour, which will also set down in Dallas, Texas and Washington, D.C.. With tracks like “Scandalous,” Gryffin’s adds another club classic to his already-stacked discography.

Bringing together open-top zero-emission motoring with iconic design, Everrati’s latest model offers a truly unique experience, with thrilling performance thanks to its state-of-the-art OEM-grade EV powertrain, but one that also majors on clean air.

As large-scale manufacturers focus their resources on the production of hardtop EVs, convertible EV options are scarce. Everrati is preserving the unique hood-down driving experience, offering buyers a choice beyond that of mainstream brands by combining timeless styling with the very latest in EV technology.

Developed in the UK – the so-named convertible capital of Europe – the 964 Wide Body Cabriolet is capable of delivering supercar levels of roof-down performance year-round. The 964 Wide Body Cabriolet is built upon Everrati’s desire to positively contribute towards reducing air pollution, allowing top-down driving to be enjoyed to the maximum.

Extensively engineered at Everrati’s global headquarters in Oxfordshire, England, the Wide Body Cabriolet, like all the company’s models, combines a full restoration with the installation of sector-leading IP blended with technology from the best Tier 1 automotive suppliers.

As well as the UK and Europe, another key market for the new addition is the US, where Everrati has a partnership with Aria Group. Based in Irvine, California, Aria has peerless expertise in low-volume, high-end vehicle engineering and production supporting world-leading OEMs and reimagination specialist. This arrangement enables 964 manufacturing on both sides of the Atlantic.

With more than double the output of the original Porsche 911 (964) Cabriolet on which it is based, the 964 Wide Body Cabriolet is available in 440bhp or 500bhp forms; the latter can accelerate from 0-60mph in under four seconds with a total driving range of 200 miles thanks to its 62kWh battery.

Everrati has worked meticulously to preserve the original ‘feel’ and character of the Porsche 911 (964) Cabriolet through the optimisation of weight distribution, chassis response and safety and enhance the performance of the original, reinvigorating its soul. With its optional fully adjustable TracTive suspension system, owners can select a variety of modes to suit their mood.

The 964 Wide Body Cabriolet uses a donor chassis and body – selected for its provenance and condition – as the basis for restoration and electrification. At the core of Everrati’s engineering philosophy is the ability to fully reverse all modifications, allowing owners to revert the car back to its original specification if desired, and to preserve provenance into the future.
