Visit Loire Valley

Perhaps best known around the world for its exceptional Sauvignon Blanc wines, the charming village of Sancerre and its surroundings in France’s Centre Val de Loire region offer so much more for travelers- from picturesque medieval stone streets and feudal castles to some of the best goat cheese in France and yes, some incredible white, red and rosé wines. Below is an itinerary for travelers to dream up their next trip to the Loire Valley, once travel restrictions are lifted.

A weekend in Sancerre should necessarily begin with a visit to the Tour des Fiefs the only remaining part of the ruined feudal castle of Sancerre from the late 14th century. From atop the tower, visitors can get the lay of the land with a 360-degree view of Sancerre, its vineyards and the surrounding areas of the Loire Valley.  From there, it’s off to eat, drink and adventure around the area.

The Sancerre appellation is located along the left bank of the Loire River, with 330 wine growers stretching across 7,413 acres, where vines have been growing since ancient times. During the 12th century, the Saint-Satur Augustine monks and the ruling counts of Sancerre began to seriously cultivate the vines, particularly Pinot Noir, which was exported from the region along the Loire River. After a phylloxera outbreak destroyed most of the Pinot Noir vineyards at the end of the 19th century, the vineyards were replanted with Sauvignon Blanc grape vines, which are particularly suited to the local climate.

For a modern-day introduction to the wines of Sancerre, oenophile travelers can kick off their weekend in the region with visits to the following
sites:

  • Maison des Sancerre:
Visiting the visitors’ center at The Maison des Sancerre offers an entertaining and interactive introduction to the wines of Sancerre and all their unique qualities through the use of state-of-art 4-D technology.
  • Domaine Henri Bourgeois:
For 10 generations, the Bourgeois family has been passionately devoted to producing wines of character, while respecting the environment and the terroir. The vineyard estate, which in 2019 was recognized as the 43rd best in the world by William Reed magazine, also features a tasting space for guests to discover the best of Sancerre’s wines.

Aside from its superb wines, the Sancerre region is also beloved for its famous Crottin de Chavignol goat cheese, one of the five varieties of goat cheese produced in the Loire Valley (out of 13 produced in France). This small cylindrical goat cheese is the claim to fame of the village of Chavignol, just a few minutes from Sancerre, where it has been produced since the 16th century. Travelers can sample the cheese throughout the region, including at:

  • Domaine Eric Louis:
The Domaine Eric Louis, already known for its production of Sancerre wine, recently opened its own goat farm, which serves as an educational center where visitors can come and learn the art of production of Crottin de Chavignol, as well as the opportunity to taste and purchase the cheese.
  • Ferme des Chapotons:
At the family-run Ferme des Chapotons, visitors can not only taste and buy their Crottin de Chavignol, but can also visit the goat farm and assist with the goat milking (Monday through Saturday at 4pm), or admire them grazing in the meadow.

Outdoors Around Sancerre

Once travelers have had their fill of wine and cheese, the area around Sancerre offers a wealth of outdoor activities to keep them fit and busy until their next meal.

  • Canoeing and Kayaking on the Loire River:
With Canoe Evasion, visitors can explore a beautiful part of the Loire Valley by canoe or kayak, along a 5.5-mile stretch of the river from Sancerre, floating past river’s various islands, sand beaches and some of the stunning fauna and flora.
  • Loire by Bike:
Following the Loire River and its side channel from Belleville-sur-Loire to Saint-Satur and Sancerre, even a beginner cyclist can enjoy a smooth ride through the small valleys of Sancerre and the landscape of the Loire Valley.

Flying Over Sancerre:

  • In a balloon or light plane with Aeroplum:
An unforgettable way to tour Sancerre is a sunrise flight in a hot-air balloon. Travelers can enjoy the rarefied experience of soaring over Sancerre’s beautiful hills and vineyards with winemaker Sophie Rimbault in her balloon, followed by a wine tasting once back on the ground.  The experience is also available via light plane.
  • In a biplane with Rêv D’ailes:
Visitors can also experience Sancerre from above via biplane flights of five to 20 minutes.
  • Traditional Boat Trip on the Loire:
A journey on a traditional boat of the Loire River, such as Le Raboliot in Saint-Satur, can be a nice way to disconnect. Captained by Sylvain Trevel, who is also a fisherman, the boat ride includes the option of sampling local Sancerre wines and cheeses, as well as the freshest fish from the river.
  • Explore the Remarkable Garden:
Created 30 years ago by Marie Marcat, a passionate and talented gardener, the Jardin de Marie (Marie’s Garden) is now known as “Jardin Remarquable” (The Remarkable Garden). The five-acre, naturally landscaped garden includes a rose garden (produving more than 500 varieties of roses), as well as a vegetable garden, orchard, grass garden and a pond.  The garden also hosts a number of events and exhibitions through the year.

Where to Eat

  • Auberge Joseph Mellot:
One of the oldest restaurants in Sancerre, the Auberge Joseph Mellot has been welcoming visitors (including Claude Monet and Maréchal Juin) since 1882. Steeped in tradition and with a convivial atmosphere, the Auberge combines a love of wine and respect of terroir, with a menu that evolves with the seasons: a variety of Crottin de Chavignol in all its forms, the green lentils of Berry prepared by the chef and products from the market.
  • Au P’tit Goûter:
This traditional restaurant located right in the heart of the village of Chavignol is the perfect place to enjoy local products and meals based on Chavignol cheese (and other cheeses) in a warm atmosphere.

Where to Stay

  • Hôtel Restaurant Famille Bourgeois:
Located in the vineyards of the small village of Chavignol, the Hotel Restaurant Famille Bourgeois has 12 peaceful rooms, a gastronomic restaurant with a Michelin Plate and a more casual bistro.
  • Hôtel Le Panoramic:
With its breathtaking views over the Sancerre vineyards, Hotel Le Panoramic is a stone’s throw from the old town of Sancerre and famous wine villages, such as Chavignol.
  • B&B Le Cep en Sancerrois:
In the heart of the wine village of Sancerre, Le Cep en Sancerrois features four suites in a charming house, as well as a wellness area downstairs.

T-Mobile Crash

By Eamonn Burke

Today (June 15, 2020) between 2 and 3 pm ET the cell provider T-Mobile had a major outage that affected customers across the country, although the full reach of the crash is not yet known. Down Detector has reported 93,000 reports of the outages.

T-Mobile users have reported an inability to complete calls, which would fail almost immediately, and unable to receive them as well. Many also had issues with data and text. Other providers have not been affected.

“Our engineers are working to resolve a voice and data issue that has been affecting customers around the country. We’re sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have this fixed shortly,” says president of technology Neville Ray in a tweet.

Dennis Quaid × Gary Busey × Uncle Drank

Audio Up’s newest venture features veteran actors Gary Busey and Dennis Quaid, and a drunken party on the beach, with a new first-of-its-kind scripted music podcast titled, Uncle Drank: The Totally Hammered podcast. One of Audio Up’s newest properties, Uncle Drank: The Totally Hammered podcast is set to premiere later this year and will feature an original soundtrack released through Warner Records. The first release “Hickstart My Heart” featuring Trinidad James was released earlier this week. Listen to the track HERE and watch the lyric video HERE. The official podcast teaser trailer debuted on CMT.com today. Watch the teaser HERE.

The music and concept for Drank is the brainchild of Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt, known for writing songs across all genres with the likes of Bob Dylan, Lil Wayne, Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley, and Steven Tyler amongst many others. Gutstadt’s previous musicals include the critically acclaimed Bear and a Banjo and the upcoming Make it Up As We Go podcasts.

The 8-part comedy music special gives its own take on the country-western music industry, as artists and fans alike tell the somewhat true-life adventures of the ’70s and ’80s all-time fictional, superstar performer, Uncle Drank – a lovable, drunken and free-spirited beach musician played by Busey. One-part Kenny Chesney and one-part Kenny Powers, Uncle Drank takes listeners back to a time before Jimmy Buffet ate a cheeseburger in paradise; before Kenny Chesney sang about not wearing shoes; and way before an acoustic guitar, a bonfire, and a pair of flip-flops turned Jack Johnson into a superstar.

“I feel Uncle Drank is one of my sub-personality parts so there will be no acting required,” said actor Gary Busey.

Uncle Drank: The Totally Hammered Podcast is Quaid’s second Audio Up project, aside from being the co-founder of the company. He is serving as the executive producer, as well as, plays the supporting role of “Blendy” – a blender and Uncle Drank’s best friend. “Blendy” is here to spill all the secrets on Uncle Drank, including his multiple marriages and endless summer nights enduring lots of booze.

“I think this will be one of the most unique and funny approaches to podcasting I’ve ever seen. I truly believe this will end up being the next King of the Hill and be the bedrock for growth of our company. I see this as merchandise, tours, album, and animated series. This is just insanely funny and is well-executed from the music and comedy POV,” said actor, podcaster, and musician Dennis Quaid.

“Uncle Drank was widely known as the inventor of beach-country and trop rock,” Audio Up CEO Jared Gutstadt explains. “He lived his life by worshiping the seven B’s… Bars, Birds, Beaches, Boats, Beers, Babes and of course…Bananas (for his mixed drinks of course). He inspired everybody… from Florida Georgia Line to Brad Paisley and it is rumored that Drank even picked out the color for what’s now known as the red solo cups…originally they were orange…imagine that!”

The official soundtrack released by Warner Records will feature all original music. Following the podcast’s debut episode, original tracks will release every Friday, with the full soundtrack album available on finale day.

Uncle Drank: The Totally Hammered Podcast tracklisting: “Whatever Don’t Teqkillya Makes You Stronger” “Biggest Dock on the Lake” “My Burp’s Gonna Get You Drunk” “Third Wife’s a Charm” “Vacay is my Biznay and Biznay is Cray Cray” “Hand Job at Happy Hour” “Hickstart My Heart”

Brokeasf – Glock in the Lake

Budding rapper, Brokeasf shares his latest track “Glock In The Lake” with an accompanying video today on Cinematic Music Group. On the tenacious song, the Jacksonville, FL artist showcases his ultra-quick flow, paired with his hard-hitting delivery on top of a tropical beat. “’Glock In The Lake’ is a real-life situation…this is something I’ve been through. The music speaks for itself” says the rising lyricist of the song.

Watch the visual for “Glock In The Like” directed by Montana ShotYa HERE.

About Brokeasf

Brokeasf is an 18-year-old rapper who has stayed down and true to himself, unapologetically making music with no regrets. At a young age, the newcomer understood the darker side of life. Born with a twin sister, he grew up with a total of seven siblings. His dad did two years in jail before coming home, and his mom tirelessly worked in a warehouse. She often played the likes of Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane around the house which is how Broke was introduced to rap.

At only 14-years-old, he and his twin endured a horrific drive-by. His sister got shot in the leg and would be released from the hospital the same night while Broke wasn’t so lucky. He suffered shots to the stomach, chest, and arm, and spent a month in the hospital recovering which made him realize quickly how painful life could be. In the face of adversity, we either give up or push harder. Brokeasf chose to push harder. Last year he began spitting on Instagram and built up a following for fierce, focused, and fiery freestyles. He engaged an active fanbase, “people knew me from the streets, so my posts would get a lot of shares.” Brokeasf ignited 2020 with the single “Comments” which went on to generate over 4.3 million total streams and counting in the US alone as well sparked a trend on TikTok with nearly 300 thousand creates on the platform.

Brokeasf will continue to push this year by sharing his story and music with his fans – “I want it to be up-tempo and make you shake your head. I didn’t go through all of this not to enjoy it. I could’ve been a victim to this, but I’m not. I’m young. I’m intelligent. I feel like I got no flaws. That’s who the fuck I am.”

About Polo G

Polo G is a 21-year-old Columbia Records rapper and recording artist from Chicago. Aptly named Polo G after his favorite lifestyle brand, Polo by Ralph Lauren, and his slain friend Gucci, Polo G is determined to leave his mark on the hip-hop community. He released his debut album Die A Legend to wide critical acclaim, hitting #1 on the Billboard Rap Chart and landing on various 2019 ‘Best Of The Year’ lists from the likes of The New York Times, Rolling Stone and Stereogum. Die A Legend is certified Gold by the RIAA and includes the massive 4x Platinum Billboard-charting hit “Pop Out” featuring Lil TJay. Polo G’s artistry stems from necessity. PuroQuiet Headset Review

PuroQuiet’s new Active Noise Cancelling Headphones do exactly what they promise – they deliver the great sound you want to hear, and none of the sound you don’t. With 82% noise isolation, listeners can put these on in loud environments and hear audio crisply, without damaging their ears. This is great for children as well, who may not be aware of the dangers of loud headphones. This is also why PuroQuiet has installed a volume limit on the headphones, to protect children from this damage.

The headset is great for calls, as it comes with a microphone that makes 2 way calling easy when mobile or in loud environments, and especially on flights. The headset is light, so it isn’t a burden to carry around on a busy day. Many headphones can hurt your scalp or ears after extensive use, but PuroQuiet’s lightweight aluminum material, plush ear pads, and leather headband protect from this kind of discomfort.

Of course the set is also great for music of any kind – the whistle tones of Ariana Grande on “Rain on Me” or the low bass riffs of Paul McCartney can be heard as clearly as ever.

On top of all this, the new PuroQuiet headphone set is affordable, so you can get quality audio without breaking the bank. They are also very durable, ensuring you get your money’s worth.

PuroQuiet Active Noise Cancelling Headphones promote Healthy Ears® by protecting hearing in the following ways:

Active Noise Cancellation – ANC makes daily noise and background sounds up to 22 dB quieter, complemented by 82% of noise isolation. You can let your kids hear more of what you want them to hear with less distraction. The ANC switch puts the world on mute, so youngsters can listen clearly in loud environments without the need to increase volume beyond safe listening levels.

Volume Limiting to 85 dB– This is the maximum safe listening level as recommended by many organizations (Hearing Health Foundation, OSHA, World Health Organization, American Speech Pathology Association, etc.). Intelligent digital signal processing imperceptibly limits the volume so that listeners don’t even notice.

Studio Grade Audio Quality with our patent-pending Puro Balanced Response® curve – Genuine studio grade audio, engineered to deliver an amazing listening experience with clear, crisp vocals and full, dynamic bass all within our 85 dB volume limit.

Super soft protein leather wrapped headband and ear cushions – The plush ear pads, combined with an adjustable headband mean children can custom fit all head sizes and shapes to ensure a comfortable long-term fit. Less than 6oz of weight leaves almost no pressure on young heads.
