Chanel West Coast drops a New Single

America’s bad ass sweetheart Chanel West Coast drops her new single/video “Old Fashioned” today featuring Nessly. The Quentin Tarantino-esque Wild West themed hip hop video was directed by Edgar Stevens and produced by Riveting Entertainment.

Comments West Coast:  “Old fashioned is a song I made about keepin’ it classy like they used too. There’s something about old Hollywood glamour that I respond too. Back in the day when people got together, spoke to one another and experienced life outside the worlds of our phone. Having values in which you come home for dinner, a man opens a car door, and finding love was going out on dates, not just sliding in DM’s. My whole upcoming project I’m taking it back to things that warm my heart, inspire me, and have a little nostalgia. But don’t get it twisted, I’m about women’s rights and leaps and bounds we as women have made.

Just want to see some real gentlemen and women out there keep it classy and sexy. At least part of the time lmfao!”

Check it out here.

Watch out for updates @chanelwestcoast

Top 10 Interesting Facts about Trucks

The trucking industry has over time grown immensely. Today it is almost impossible to imagine life without trucks because industries can hardly operate if trucks owners go on strike for a single day. This industry has had its fair share of challenges as well as good days. Despite these ups and downs, the industry keeps moving. This is a difficult job; however, for those doing it, it is rewarding. Also, it should be known that trucking is fun. Below we have compiled some of the interesting facts about trucks so that you can learn more about this industry and those involved in it.

1. Where the Name Truck Originated From

This may sound weird, but not so many people know how the word “truck” came about. The first-ever documented use of this word goes back to 1611 when it alluded to the heavy-duty wheels used on canon carriages. As time went by, the term became common for carts that ferried heavy items. Today the term truck and lorry have the same meaning.

2. Approximately 6% of Truck Drivers Are Women

When thinking about the truck industry, what a lot of people think is the stereotypical image of a man behind the wheel. They are not so much farfetched because a large percentage of truck drivers are men. Today, however, there is an increasing number of women venturing into this industry. They are increasingly taking the US highways to fend for themselves and their families.

America’s largest retailer, Walmart Store Inc. made a date with its women, in a forum dubbed Women in Trucking Conference, to know what more can be done to increase the number of female truckers on the road.

3. Top 5 Cinematographers That Made Lorries Popular

If it were not for some movie legends who in their movies pointed out trucks, they could still be not known. Some of these legends include Steve Spielberg, in his film called Duel. This is Richard Matheson’s American TV thriller film released in 1971. In the film, a terrified driver is stalked by a crazy truck driver.

Other filmmakers include Kris Kristofferson in Convoy, Chuck Norris in his Breaker! Breaker! Burt Reynolds in his film called Smokey and the Bandit, and Patrick Swayze in the film Black Dog.

4. What Are The Top 5 Hit Songs That Talk About Trucks?

“Roll on eighteen-Wheeler” is a song that was written by Dave Loggins. It was recorded by the American country music band called Alabama and released in January 1984 as a first single and title track by Roll On. This hit song was the group’s 12th straight No. 1 single on the Billboard magazine called Hot Country Singles chart. Other famous songs that hype trucks and brought them to the limelight include Gartha Brooks’ Papa Loved Mama, Convoy, by C.W. McCall, and finally, a song called East Bound and Down by Jerry Reed.

5. The First Female Truck Driver

The first female ever to own a commercial truck driver’s license was Lillie McGee Drennan. She also was the first female to drive a truck.  She was born at John Sealy Hospital Galveston TX in January 1897, and later was given up for adoption when she was barely three weeks old. She became the foster daughter to Fannie (Francis Carolyn). She married William Barley on December 18, 1912, at the age of 15 years, and had a son the following year. She later divorced and married Lillie married Willard Ernest Drennan. Their marriage ended in 1929 when the couple couldn’t bear children. She got her truck driving license that year. Surprisingly, she used to carry a gun in her truck everywhere she went.

6. Origin of Trucks

Peterman was a lumber businessman who in the 1930s was in search of an enhanced way to move logs to the factories from the forests. He had revamped the military trucks, and after that, he developed his first ever truck. He termed the truck as Model 260. Peterbilt was named after this businessman, T.A. Peterman.

7. What Are The Truck Types In Existence Today?

While there are numerous heavy-duty vehicles from world-known manufacturers today, but the main being used today include the Tip Truck, Fire Engines, Refrigerator Lorries, Concrete Truck, and the Semi-Trucks.

8. Truckers Pay Approximately 36% of Taxes and Fee

Yes, truckers pay up to 36% of taxes and fees relating to the Highway Trust Fund, (HTF). Even as they pay this much, they only make for a paltry 7% of the whole traffic on the highway. The Telegraph reports that the average driver spends approximately 32 hours in traffic jams every year. The amount of money spent on tax can be attributed to the type of car- it could either worsen or ease traffic jams.

Trucks, therefore, due to their design and speed are known to spend far too much time on the road and in traffic, since they cannot very well maneuver these jams. In the end, these drivers spend more on gas and other related fees on the highway.

9. The US Statistics on Trucks

The trucking industry has about 15.5 million trucks. However, the number is expected to escalate 21% more in the next ten years.

10. The First Ever Built Truck

The first ever manufactured truck was built by a German manufacturer Gottlieb Daimler in 1896. Years after passing on, he is still being celebrated for inventing the taxi as well as the motorbike.

Conclusion

While it seems like this industry is given a wanting awareness, without it, it would prove difficult to deliver goods to consumers. Trucks are also responsible for the supply of raw materials to the industries for manufacturing purposes. It therefore right to say that the trucking industry supports the global economy. When you are only driving to get to a place, truck drivers are working, and you happen to be in their workplace. Therefore, give them a break and understand that they play an important role in facilitating a smooth flow of operations in the trucking industry.

CBD and Studying – How CBD IS Better Than Coffee for Students

When it comes time for finals, you probably turn mostly to energy drinks and other unhealthy habits. It’s very common for students to use coffee, energy drinks, or even concentrated shots of caffeine to keep them awake and help them focus. You probably know that it’s not the best thing for you, but if you feel like it’s your only option, you’ll probably keep doing it. In fact, there are other great ways to do better in school that don’t rely on caffeine. Here are five of them.

1. You Can Avoid Test Anxiousness

Test anxiousness is a big part of why people sometimes do worse on tests than they do on take-home quizzes and homework. Even if you know all the material, being faced with a big test that’s a huge part of your grade is daunting. It’s tough for even the best students. This can actually be exacerbated by caffeine — although it may keep you up and could possibly help you focus, it’s also frequently tied to higher levels of tension.

CBD, on the other hand, helps you to maintain a calm, focused mindset. Using CBD can make it easier to tackle your finals with as much diligence as you do your homework. That’s much better for your state of mind than going into a test already worried about the results.

2. You May Be Able to Focus Better

For some people, caffeine helps them to focus better. However, although it can keep you up, it also makes some people’s brains race. When that happens, you’re likely to have a hard time getting anything done, much less thought-intensive activities like studying.

When you tackle coursework with CBD, you’re more likely to be able to actually focus on your studies. In fact, it’s much less likely that you’ll need to use caffeine to stay up for dozens of hours because you can get your work done more effectively. By promoting focus and concentration, CBD can help make your study hours more effective, not just more lengthy.

3. You Can Alleviate Daily Stress

The actual tests aren’t the only reason most people get stressed during finals week. Everyday stresses are difficult to handle at the best of times, and finals are hardly the best time to be dealing with those everyday issues. Instead of just trying to handle your schoolwork, you need to handle all of it.

CBD is useful for your daily life, not just around finals. When you’re able to approach issues with a calm, rational mindset, you’re likely to be able to untangle that stress. It’s also easy to include in your daily routine — you can take CBD in many ways, including oral solutions, CBD gummies, and even baths.

4. You’ll Maintain More Healthy Coping Strategies

Coping strategies are useful for anyone, because everyone deals with stress at some point in their life. People who teach about coping strategies emphasize making sure that those strategies are healthy, so you can successfully rely on them. Energy drinks just cover up the problem, they don’t actually deal with it.

There are many ways CBD can help with your coping abilities. In your general life, you may be able to deploy coping strategies more effectively. For example, it’s easier to step back and take yourself out of a stressful situation if you’re able to stay calm. You also don’t have to supplement with caffeine in order to stay focused, so you won’t be disrupting healthy strategies with unhealthy ones.

5. You’ll Enjoy Your Time at College More Fully

At the end of the day, you want to be able to enjoy college. It’s true that coursework can be stressful, and it’s hard to make sure you’re able to pass a number of classes when you’re taking them all at the same time. However, it doesn’t have to be so stressful that you can barely keep yourself together.

CBD provides a simple way for you to stay focused and calm throughout your time at college and beyond. or even opt for CBD gummies, you’re more likely to have a great time. Use Charlotte’s Web to make sure you’re getting high-quality CBD from a company you can trust.

Mark Diamond “Hummingbird”

Rising Seattle singer, songwriter and guitarist Mark Diamond unveils his latest song “Hummingbird” today via Stardog Records/Republic Records.

Listen to “Hummingbird” HERE!

“Hummingbird” arrives hot off the heels of Diamond’s debut EP Hummingbird One released in the spring, which Ones To Watch hailed as “an impeccable EP filled with indie-pop perfection.” Hummingbird One features fan-favorite tracks “Steady” and “Road.” Not to mention, Diamond has amassed almost 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and counting.

Of “Hummingbird,” Mark says, “This song was the birth of a new version of myself. It was letting a side of me out that I didn’t know was there. I’ll never forget that moment when I started singing the melody. Honestly, I think I just started laughing at first because it felt so freeing and different than anything I’d done before. I think as creatives and as people, we all have multiple versions of ourselves. It’s important to let some of those see the light of day sometimes.”

Stay tuned for more new music from Mark Diamond out this summer!

At 25 years old, Mark Diamond is a Seattle native who grew up listening to Tom Petty, Hootie & The Blowfish, The Beatles, R.E.M and Robbie Williams with his dad in his 1969 Chevy Malibu. Up until recently, Mark, now based in Los Angeles, was living in Seattle and working at a coffee shop for the last four years. He has been hard at work on his upcoming project with his debut song, “Steady,” leading the way. The song is included in a very large arsenal of finished tracks that he completed in 24 days with talented writer and producer Richard Craker, writing and recording in both London and Los Angeles. With his music, Mark wants to make people feel every emotion possible. “I have never had more fun making music in my entire life. Music should make people feel good more than it makes them feel bad. Not necessarily ‘happy’ songs, but songs that make you feel better about life than when you started listening to it.”

Maggie Lindemann x Travis Barker “Friends Go”

On Maggie Lindemann‘s latest single, ‘Friends Go,’ the 20-year-old treads the line between modernist and throwback. The starlet embraces this duality with the help of Blink 182’s Travis Barker by putting a punk twist on the recent single which explores feelings of disconnect at a time in which technology has made people closer than ever before.

“I wanted to do a version of friends go that had a bit more of a punk feel because that’s my favorite type of music,” Maggie explained. “When I first recorded the song, I wanted to do multiple versions. I feel like the song is very versatile and wanted to kinda explore different genres! I love the Travis version, it’s one of my favorite songs I’ve done.”

Maggie Lindemann has been adventurously investigating her sound and identity since breaking through with the global pop smash ‘Pretty Girl.’ From that track’s laser-sharp pop focus to the darker, revealingly vulnerable recent tracks ‘Human’ and ‘Would I,’ Maggie has demonstrated a brave desire to tackle bold new ideas while amassing over a billion streams.

“Friends Go” commences Maggie’s build-up to her first full-length project which is set to be released later in the year. The video for the song garnered over one million streams in 48 hours. Maggie has begun to emerge as an icon of her generation, with over a billion audio streams, 175 million views at YouTube, 6 million followers across her social platforms, and an international array of Platinum awards. Most recently touring stateside with Sabrina Carpenter she’s also performed with Khalid and Troye Sivan.

Maggie has been further celebrated in the world of fashion. She launched her single ‘Obsessed’ with an innovative partnership with the make-up brand Pat McGrath and recently teamed up with Skinny Dip for a sunglasses collaboration. She’s also unveiled her own merch line in the shape of SWIXXZ, which is now being sold in stores by skate apparel chain, Zumiez.

Jamie N Commons

British singer/songwriter Jamie N Commons releases a new song today.  “Start Again” was written by Commons and Sam de Jong and produced by Sam de Jong and is available now at all digital retailers. Commons will perform a headline show at New York City’s Mercury Lounge on July 25th before heading out on a five-city trek supporting Kodaline. Tickets are on sale now at www.jamiencommons.com. Listen to “Start Again” here.

Commons recently partnered with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and advertising agency M/H VCCP for Runaway Train 25, a cross-industry initiative to reinvent the search for missing children in the U.S.  In the 1990s, the original “Runaway Train” video by Soul Asylum, NCMEC and director Tony Kaye featured 36 missing kids. After it aired on MTV, 21 of those missing kids were recovered. Commons, along with Skylar Grey and Gallant, recorded a new version of the award-winning song and shot a new video for the track. Watch “Runaway Train” here.

The KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records artist released the video for his current single “Won’t Let Go” last month and is working on his first full length album which will be released later this year.   “Start Again,” and “Won’t Let Go” follows the release of “Paper Dreams” which came out last November. This new music showcases a new direction for the musician that is heavily influenced by 80s pop.  Still evident is Commons’ bluesy-rock sensibility,  as showcased in his previous  releases “Rumble And Sway” and “Lead Me Home”, with a hint of what’s to come.

Born in Bristol in the late 80s and following that with a stint in Chicago, Commons returned to England set on a music career studying at Goldsmiths in London, notorious for its host of luminary alumni.  Commons released The Baron EP in 2011 followed by his KIDinaKORNER/Interscope debut Rumble And Sway EP in 2013 showcasing his whiskey-laced growl.  Commons’ workmanlike approach has been fed further by the work he’s doing for others. Among his successes, he co-wrote the hit “Jungle” for X Ambassadors with Alex Da Kid and Sam Harris, and toured with the band. He also had a Beats by Dre ad, and was featured on Eminem’s ‘MMLP2’ album. Commons won Music Week’s Sync Artist Of The Year in 2016. This past year Commons composed the music for the summer blockbuster “Skyscraper” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. These experiences opened his ears to a spectrum of genres, making him more interested in the path pop music is taking.

Below is a complete list of upcoming tour dates for Jamie N Commons supporting Kodaline:
