Rave Family CEO Jackie McGuire explains, “One of the biggest challenges for digital festivals is making sure that artists are compensated for the use of their music. We knew that in order to create a sustainable digital music event platform, we had to take care of that. With their advanced content ID system and unique music licenses, Mixcloud has been a great partner and we are excited to be leading the movement to pay artists fairly.”

Upon entering the festival, attendees or “Loozers”, are given free range of the grounds, with the ability to jump from stage to stage at their own pace, using replicas of the famed blue Doctor Who Tardis. Over 65 stages have been carefully curated and envisioned directly by the artists and labels themselves. From Red Blocks, a take on the famed Colorado amphitheater, to Thunder Mifflin, the coolest office in Scranton, PA, there will be plenty of familiar locations for Loozers to explore.

Artists have had full creative control of their stage designs, from Sacha Robotti’s SlothAcid stage, Steve Aoki’s blood sport Dim Mak Dojo, KSHMR’s Dharma Temple, Claptone’s Masquerade Stage, Maceo Plex’s Blade Runner inspired Ellum, a Higher Ground Space Station and Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Campout and Bass Lodge, which features nostalgic activities and games.

To further immerse attendees in the digital music festival experience, Electric Blockaloo attendees will also be brought together via Discord, an online chat platform where Loozers can communicate and meet up with friends and new avatars they meet in the game.

Electric Blockaloo will be available on both java and Bedrock versions of Minecraft, so fans can play on desktop or mobile. For music fans unfamiliar with Minecraft, the Rave Family Training Camp will be available to ticket holders in the run up to the festival where users can learn how to navigate, use special items, and even swim!

Living at the intersection of music and technology, Rave Family is a production company founded in 2018 by tech and investment veteran, Jackie McGuire. With roots in promoting harm reduction at live music events, Rave Family has always been committed to supporting its community and the causes near to its members hearts, and will continue this initiative for Electric Blockaloo.

The festival has partnered with various organizations that festival-goers can donate to and support while purchasing their ticket or during the game itself. Beneficiaries include Black Lives Matter, The Bail Project, a national fund aimed at preventing incarceration and combating racial and economic disparities in the bail system, and ByeBye Plastic, a movement to remove single use plastics from the music industry as a whole by 2025. Electric Blockaloo will donate 5% of its profits to each of these organizations.

A partnership with HeadCount, a platform that harnesses the power of live music to stage voter registration drives, will also allow ticket buyers to register to vote during checkout. Tickets for Electric Blockaloo will be available to purchase through individual artist and stage links.

Oliver Malcolm Explains Song “Kevin”

The one-man-band takes us behind the scenes in his Los Angeles, CA home to give us an insight into the making of his recently released single “Kevin.” The track of an upcoming EP will be Oliver’s debut project.

Recognized for his genre-blending melodies and sharp-as-a-tack production skills, Oliver continues to peel back the layers of his artistry and giving fans a taste into the making of a bonafide rising star.

Praise for Oliver Malcolm

“With its deep bassline and bluesy melodies alchemizing jazz and pop influences, he crafts an almost tangible atmosphere of melancholy [in “Helen”] as pleas to a woman echo throughout” — Pigeons & Planes, Best New Artist

“A sleek hybrid of rap and R&B” — FADER

“The drums lurch toward the offbeats, some looped guitar picking tugs against that pulse and Malcolm’s voice is a rattled, quavery moan…Everything stays off-kilter for the two and a half paranoid minutes of “Switched Off” by Oliver Malcolm” — New York Times, Playlist

“Oliver Malcolm’s ‘Switched Up’ Is Intoxicating… new single ‘Switched Up’ is a mesh of influences, a confluence of sounds, a mosaic of techniques.” — CLASH

“A lot of artists claim genre-blending style, but Malcolm’s is altogether impossible to define. Is it alt-blues? Dark electro-pop? Folk-hip-hop? Does it matter?” — TIME Magazine, Best New Song

About Oliver Malcolm

Oliver Malcolm got his start early, teaching himself how to spin records at 12 years old. Shortly after, he downloaded Logic and taught himself how to produce – working with IDK, Aluna George, Joey Bada$$, Jay Rock, Masego Tinashe and more. Now twenty, Oliver has developed his own voice. Touching everything from the production, vocals, songwriting, engineering, mixing and mastering, Oliver’s sound is unique and does not fit the mold of one genre. A multidisciplinary at heart, this is just the beginning of music lovers can look forward to from the new artist.

Road Trip to Luxury

Global travel may be on hold or cancelled, but local getaways offer a drivable alternative without sacrificing the feel of a glamorous escape. On the Texas Gulf Coast, Cinnamon Shore boasts an idyllic community which combines all the resort amenities a family could want—a broad and breezy beach, luxury accommodations, gorgeous pools, great dining options, family-friendly activities— without the slog of a drive to Florida or boarding a plane.

New-found Opulence on the Texas Coast

Luxury hasn’t always been synonymous with the Texas Coast. But that changed when Cinnamon Shore was established in 2008, on the outskirts of Port Aransas, Texas. The master-planned community, nestled behind protective dunes on the Gulf Coast, now boasts almost 300 high-end beach residences that serve as second homes and vacation rentals, drawing discriminating, yet down-to-earth families who enjoy beachside luxury when they vacation.

What Sets Cinnamon Shore Apart

The epitome of the New Urbanist architectural movement, Cinnamon Shore is a walkable village that offers the charm of small-town America. Front porches lined with rockers recall the best of Southern architectural traditions, while paver sidewalks and pocket parks promote a neighborly feel. Cottage-style details — reminiscent of the grand, old estates which line the East Coast — help the new community feel rooted to the past. Great dining options, fitness classes, and a roster of activities and events year-round keep guests entertained when they’re not enjoying the beachfront.

Resort Highlights

Cinnamon Shores features easy beach access over three visually striking crossovers, as well as three community pools. The Dune Pool hosts paddleboard yoga in a palm-lined setting, Kiera’s Pool boasts an infinity edge looking to scenic Lake Gavin, and Stillwater Pool is heated year-round. The resort offers superb on-site dining options: upscale Mediterranean-style Lisabella’s Bistro; family-friendly Dylan’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, way more than a pizza parlor; and Coffee Waves, with a premium selection of java, smoothies, and breakfast fare. Extensive entertainment and activities include: Live Music concerts on an outdoor stage, Movies Under the Stars on grassy Town Center, Yoga on the Beach, Paddleboard Yoga at The Dune Pools, Pilates on the Deck around Kiera’s Pool, Beach Bonfire Set-up, Bike Rentals, Fishing Gear rentals, and more. Guests seeking a change of pace from the pools or ocean can explore the two community lakes: Lake Colby, fully stocked with a fishing pier for everyone to use, and Lake Gavin. The resort Fitness Center is a stand-alone facility with plenty of equipment accessible to all guests. Cinnamon Shores provides In-car Check-In and On-Site Property Management for quick solutions to any maintenance needs during a stay.

A Hop, Skip, and a Jump… to the Beach!

An afternoon’s drive away from Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio, Cinnamon Shores is the epitome of an effortless getaway. Texans can skip the 13 to 16 hour drive to Florida beach resort towns, and instead opt for the same luxurious accommodations and beach access in-state.

Cinnamon Shore is the go-to coastal vacation spot for luxury in Texas. Nearly built-out and thriving, the development has started a quickly rising sister community just about one mile away. The resort is devoted to making the Cinnamon Shore lifestyle available to even more Texans. Work on its incredible pool complex is under way, and first homes have finished in time for summer rentals. Guests at Cinnamon Shore South have full access to all the amenities at Cinnamon Shore, nearby. In the meantime, Cinnamon Shore is a bustling, festive place for coastal getaways year-round—and we are following CDC guidance on sanitizing and social distancing.

Candace Owens x Controversial Perspective

By Armon Hayes x Jason Tayer

Recently, conservative Candace Owens released a pot-stirring rant video on Youtube of her perspective on Black issues in America. Now the focal point of black issues is the wrongful death of George Floyd, which sparked outrage across the nation. Becoming the largest civil right’s protest to date, Ms. Owens shared thought-provoking ideologies of blackness and denounced that police and race issues exist. She further supports her elitist agenda with statistics to justify the death of a man who can be considered a career criminal. Those who stood with removing her account in response to her recent comments led to her Gofundme account suspension.

According to The Daily Beast, Owens’s response to her Gofundme suspension was that it shows how conservatives live in “a world that tells us that our very existence is unacceptable.” Even when critics bring up the point that George Floyd should not have suffered a brutal death with by the knee of a police officer, she defends her argument by claiming that white people are more affected by police brutality and that the whole racist police brutality concept is essentially a myth. In correspondence with her view on George Floyd and his criminal record, Donald Trump endorsed her comments and added that George Floyd is an example of “broken black America” in today’s world.

By now, the world knows Mr. Floyd had a history of challenges. Are there no second chances in life? Consider, that your past determined how you should and would die. The officer kneeling on George, subsequently killing him, also shared a colorful past, including blood on his hands from a prior incident. Solution number one, if you want to help the black community and “Make American Great Now,” consider a bill for officers with bad behavior to be removed along with discipline. Also, the world has witnessed the sickening displays on social media of the Cancer cells in Law enforcement.

Society is not perfectible, nothing is perfectible that has grey areas, considering centuries of oppression before she or I was even a thought. Black America, she asks “Is it too hard to stay out of prison?” No! As a 34-year-old black man, I’ve never been arrested. Neither has my father, who is also black and retired. Candace, we’re all running the same race called life, therefore acknowledge that we don’t all start at the same point. Never assume everyone has access to the bootstraps to pull themselves up. She expressed her fatigue of having to play pretend. Pretend for whom Candace? One thing she’s not pretending is to offer solutions to issues staring the nation in the face. Her bating verbiage is far from pretend and it’s dangerous and to distract from a cause that is sensitive and deeply layered is irresponsible and lacks leadership. Please refrain from falling victim of the same spell from which you are so desperately trying to save the Black community, which is the “Media’s cycle” of race bating during Election season. Seriously, she studied journalism, and she’s pushing propaganda at the cost of black lives.

AmeriHealth Caritas on Coronavirus Risks

AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for those most in need, cautions that electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use can lead to poorer health outcomes for people living below the federal poverty level, who are disproportionately affected by smoking-related health issues.
Some health officials are becoming increasingly alarmed by the possibility that vaping could make COVID-19 worse. Vaping, the use of e-cigarettes, can cause dangerous lung and respiratory problems, which could aggravate the symptoms of COVID-19.

At a recent press briefing on COVID-19, Dr. Sharon Watkins of the Pennsylvania Department of Health cautioned, “We do know that vaping is related to lung injury and lung injury is one of the risk factors for more severe presentation in COVID-19.” Watkins, the PA State Epidemiologist, said smokers should reduce or stop vaping to avoid COVID-19 complications.

Smoking has been designated as an underlying medical condition by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) because it weakens the immune system, which increases the risk for severe illness from COVID-19. The American Lung Association also believes smokers are a high-risk group.

“COVID-19 is a respiratory disease, it attacks the lungs. That means people who smoke regular cigarettes, marijuana, or vape should take extra precautions and consider themselves at higher risk for complications from COVID-19,” said Deborah Brown, chief mission officer of the

American Lung Association. “And that means that there has never been a better time to quit smoking — use this current disruption of your regular schedule to create a new tobacco and smoke-free plan.”
Even prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, vaping was deemed a growing public health issue, said Dr. Andrea Gelzer, senior vice president of medical affairs at AmeriHealth Caritas. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned the sale of fruit, dessert and mint-flavored e-cigarette pods which are popular with teenagers, but exempted menthol-flavored pods containing nicotine for adult users who may be trying to make a switch from traditional cigarettes.
“We are at risk of having a generation with significant respiratory problems caused by vaping,” Dr. Gelzer said. “People are becoming addicted to nicotine through vaping, which is not a safe or viable smoking cessation strategy.”

Through the first two months of the year there already were more than 2,800 lung injury cases and about 70 deaths in the United States and the District of Columbia associated with the use of e-cigarettes, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The aerosol created by e-cigarettes can contain harmful substances, including nicotine, heavy metals like lead, volatile organic compounds and cancer-causing agents.

Like traditional combustible cigarettes, e-cigarettes are being marketed and sold in retail locations concentrated in communities “at higher risk for adverse health outcomes, including communities whose residents have lower incomes, greater racial diversity, and lower educational attainment,” according to a recent report by the Public Health Law Center, a St. Paul, Minn.-based organization that provides legal and policy analysis to support efforts to reduce and eliminate commercial tobacco products.

Dr. Gelzer said e-cigarette use may worsen existing health disparities in vulnerable communities, especially those that have been disproportionately affected by smoking-related diseases and who have been historically targeted by tobacco marketers.

“We encourage and provide assistance to our members to quit smoking – including free cessation counseling and nicotine replacement products – because it is important to protect one’s health,” she said. “Nicotine is highly addictive and it can be very difficult to quit. There are safer and more effective methods for quitting smoking than e-cigarettes.”

Cosmo’s Midnight – Yesteryear

Continuing their sensational ride into the new decade, prolific Sydney duo Cosmo’s Midnight today share their glistening new single “Yesteryear” (listen here).  Alongside the single comes an official video from the age of isolation, born from a cancelled shoot and the innovative minds of close creative friends (watch here).

Infused with 70s pop and a drop of psychedelia, “Yesteryear” lends insight into the burgeoning confidence and trajectory of the twin duo as they continue to evolve from their roots as online-production powerhouses to world-class, multi-skilled live artists. Uplifting lyrics embrace a firm funk bass line and intelligent sonic designs, amplifying falsettos from Pat in his first lead vocal appearance since 2018’s “Polarised.” Laced with complexities and all the sweets from their unmatched style, the track steps forth as their most self-affirming release yet, all the while basking in a moment of nostalgia.

Directed by Jordan Kirk (@xingerxanger), the accompanying visual presents an authentic product of its time, pushing creative limitations in the face of global isolation. Designed from a Zoom brainstorm featuring the act’s behind-the-scenes team, the webcam-shot sequence rides the effervescent soundtrack through all the ingredients in making a music video today, featuring working-from-home production meetings, homemade green screens, animated sequences, choreographed dance numbers, and a whole lot of DIY mischief from the duo. A raw insight into operating in the changing landscape of now, the video is a testament to the strength and adaptability of their industry – no matter the circumstance.

Speaking on the track and video, Cosmo’s Midnight say: “‘Yesteryear’ is a song reflecting back on the years past, the unchanging feelings of youth, growing up and contemplating the future. We tried to blend these feelings into the production by drawing inspiration from older pop records as well some more progressive records. Although it seems a lot of thought  went into it, ‘Yesteryear’ came about really quickly and naturally.”

“Yesteryear” marks a thrilling curveball in the Cosmo’s Midnight story, and sets the stage for the road ahead as the duo hone their craft and assume their most solid sonic identity yet. Oozing timelessness, don’t miss catching the new one from Australia’s most beloved twin producers today, ahead of new music and more exciting announcements to arrive soon.

Zakat Provides Aid in Minneapolis

Two days after George Floyd’s bereaved family and an emotional nation laid this unlikely icon of systemic American racism and anti-Black police brutality to rest in Houston, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar called on Zakat Foundation of America — for the third time in 10 days — to haul in and hand out a truckload of farm-picked produce for local families still cut off from wholesome fresh fare.

“I invited them to bring another container of food, as there is unfortunately no shortage of need,” Congresswoman Omar said. “And I am honored to join and help them in the distribution this Friday.”

Friday, June 12’s free distribution will start around 10 a.m. at the Bryan Coyle Center, 420 15th Ave S.

“I appreciate that Zakat Foundation of America thought of us and came out to Minneapolis with food aid during this difficult time. It means a lot,” Congresswoman Omar said.

Floyd, 46, died handcuffed, surrendered, face-down on a street in Omar’s district — pleading for breath, calling for his mother, throttled beneath the knee on his neck of then-19-year veteran, white Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, on Memorial Day, May 31.

The brazen murder transpired for nearly 9 remorseless minutes in broad daylight; Chauvin, hands nonchalantly in his pockets, smirking directly into the recording video camera, with onlookers imploring him for mercy for Floyd’s expiring life.

“Godliness means acting quickly with compassion for the vulnerable,” said Halil Demir, Zakat Foundation’s executive director. “We didn’t wait for an invitation. Right away, we moved to bring these victims of racism and persecution the most basic sustenance of life cut from them: fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk.”

Content and Character

Zakat Foundation relief workers will pass out more than 18,000 pounds of colorful produce and 400 gallons of milk, with help from Congresswoman Omar and her staff.  Each produce box contains about 25 pounds of farm-fresh tomatoes, apples, oranges, cucumbers, lettuce, celery, carrots, asparagus, onions, potatoes, and other fruits and vegetables.

On June 3, global charity Zakat Foundation became the first major organization in the country to initiate food relief for people of the Twin Cities severed from food markets by police riots in response to protests and months of coronavirus pandemic disruptions.

The international humanitarian nonprofit, headquartered in Bridgeview, Ill., near Chicago, made good on Demir’s promise to return with more garden-fresh provisions just two days later, June 5.  Demir said Zakat Foundation and its supporters intend to deliver more than food to the people of the community and city now indelibly marked as ground-zero for America’s anti-racist social crisis.

“We want to put a little bit of love in the hearts of people, bring some healing to our nation.”

Many-Splendored Goodness

Zakat Foundation relief specialists worked to ensure their food campaign paid multiple relief dividends. They procured the fruits and vegetables for food baskets fresh from Midwest farmers.

That made its produce campaign and donors’ gifts deeds of double goodness. On one hand, this provided Minneapolis’ food-, job-, and mobility-deprived people with healthful nourishment. On the other, it helped lessen the dramatic economic shortfall struggling farmers faced unexpectedly, forced to plow their harvests under or destroy yields in the face of COVID-19’s economic ambush.

The aid group, based on Islam’s celebrated Third Pillar, Zakat, the yearly almsgiving obligation on wealthy Muslim individuals from which it takes its name, will have sent more than 60,000 pounds of free produce and milk into Minneapolis’ afflicted neighborhoods in less than two weeks. They’ve duplicated this giving for hard-pressed people in cities across the nation, including New York, Durham (North Carolina), St. Louis and Oakland.

In addition, Demir has slipped in shipments of PPE — medical masks and gloves — to help health care staff and essential workers cope with the persisting pandemic. This remains crucial, particularly among African-Americans, another reflection of the epidemic of racism across the country.

Demir, who personally drove in with the first shipment and passed out the produce boxes and milk, along with Omar, sees this work as the beginning of a necessary curative for what hurts in America.

“If we give a little, each of us, and really care for our brothers and sisters — as children of our one father, Adam, and one mother, Eve — it won’t just ease the hearts of others. It will heal our own,” Demir said.

NasalGuard® Airborne Particle Blocker®

A Topical Gel that Reduces Inhalation of

Harmful Airborne Contaminants

NasalGuard® launches ‘Breathe Easier Healthcare Donation’ Program

Airborne Particle Blocker® is an electrostatic topical nasal gel that prevents airborne particles from entering the nose. The product is drug-free and safe for children, the elderly, pregnant or nursing women, and those concerned about potential drug interactions with other medications. During these uncertain times, NasalGuard is a unique product that can help people protect themselves from harmful airborne particles!

Healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic, physicians and other medical personnel, are in desperate need of creative solutions amidst the lack of personal protective gear and supplies that help block harmful airborne pathogens. To help support healthcare workers on the front lines, NasalGuard Airborne Particle Blocker is launching the “Breathe Easier Healthcare Workers Donation Program.” Through the program, NasalGuard is offering free donations to any health care professional that would like to try NasalGuard gel for themselves, their hospital or office. All requests are considered and all that is needed is a statement of profession, doctor office/hospital, and quantity needed. Requests can be emailed to Shaheda at sashtekar@nasalguard.com.  To date NasalGuard Airborne Particle Blocker has donated product upon request for use by staff at RWJ Barnabas Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Saint Barnabas Medical Center, University Radiology Group and Lenox Hill Hospital.  NasalGuard has long been a supporter of actively giving back and has donated thousands of units of NasalGuard Airborne Particle Blocker nationally and internationally through well-known charitable organizations.

“We at NasalGuard are proud to support the frontline healthcare workers as well as anyone else in need of preventative products,” says Kanika Wahi, a biomedical engineer and Co-inventor of NasalGuard microfiltration technology. “As people continue taking protective measures to help themselves during this time, NasalGuard is another tool in their arsenal of prevention. Many of our customers, including healthcare professionals, have been applying NasalGuard prior to wearing a mask for their own benefit,” adds Kanika.

NasalGuard protects against virtually all types of airborne contaminants in any location. Users can count on it to work in their homes, airplanes, offices, hospitals and other environments where airborne particles may present a health hazard. “NasalGuard has been proven to reduce the inhalation of airborne particles, including virus-sized particles and contaminants, when applied outside the nasal passages prior to exposure,” says Ashok Wahi, Co-inventor of NasalGuard. ‘Hospital workers also told us that using Nasalguard blocks unpleasant odors when on the job.  We are delighted to support our Healthcare Heros with any product donations to make life a bit more pleasant,” adds Ashok. A pin-sized drop of the preventative product is applied around the nostrils and above the upper lip and lasts up to six hours. Patented NasalGuard gel uses a cationic (positively charged) polymer that creates a safe electrostatic field around the nasal passages that traps oppositely charged particles and repels similarly charged particles to reduce inhalation of most harmful airborne particles before they enter your body. NasalGuard gel can be purchased online at https://nasalguard.com/ and https://amazon.com/nasalguard or by calling 855-627-2545. NasalGuard gel tube retails for $14.85.

Every day, people are exposed to millions of airborne particles.  In these unprecedented times, and as the world attempts to loosen social distancing rules, it is important to arm yourself with tools when entering public spaces such as airports, airplanes, transportation centers, homes and offices, hospitals, doctor’s offices, and movie theaters. Using NasalGuard regularly will help protect against the immediate and long-term risk of breathing harmful contaminated air.

There is a growing public health concern globally regarding the adverse health effects caused by the inhalation of microscopic airborne particles. In response to this widespread problem, Trutek Corp., the parent company of NasalGuard, has successfully advanced their technology which was originally focused on blocking allergens from entering the nose for preventing allergy symptoms. This breakthrough provides a greater electrostatic blocking effect that is effective against a much wider spectrum of sub-microscopic indoor and outdoor contaminants including mold, pollen, pet dander, pollution, and virus-sized particles.

NasalGuard technology was invented by Ashok Wahi, the founder and President of Trutek Corp., an R&D product development company and his daughter Kanika Wahi, both engineers by training, Ashok was inspired to create this technology to aid his other daughter, Aikta, who suffered from severe allergies.  “I developed this product because of the vital need to have some kind of personal air filter that was drug free, non-invasive and easy to use,” says Ashok Wahi.

About Trutek Corp.

Trutek Corp. is a privately held intellectual property and product development company which has been manufacturing and marketing patented NasalGuard® globally since 1995.  Over 18 million units have been sold worldwide with no reports of any adverse effects.
