J.I.D. × Surround Sound

The Grammy-nominated, Dreamville rapper J.I.D. released “Surround Sound,” this past week, making it his first single of 2022. The single features fellow Atlanta rappers 21 Savage and Baby Tate.

Produced by Christo and DJ Scheme, the single follows J.I.D.’s journey into the rap scene and what it took to get where he now stands. At the 2:29 mark, J.I.D. showcases his notorious flow switch ups. The music video for the single was directed by Mac Grant and Chad Tennies, highlighting all three artists that are apart of “Surround Sound.”

“Surround Sound” follows the monumental announcement that J.I.D. would be apart of the Coachella 2022 lineup. This will be J.I.D.’s unveiling performance at Coachella.

The Dreamville/Interscope Records artist has, too, been awaiting the release of his highly anticipated future project. In the meantime, J.I.D. has been celebrating the successes of his recent collaborations with other artists. His latest collab with Imagine Dragons on the song “ENEMY” is the title song for the Netflix series Arcane. “ENEMEY” currently sits in the top 10 of Billboard Global 200, rising up the Billboard Hot 100 charts, now at #48. The collaboration of J.I.D. and Imagine Dragons has been exceptionally popular, stacking up a cumulative 151 million views on YouTube. A spike in these numbers came after the group performed the song live at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Amongst his other collabs, J.I.D. has worked together with other out-of-this-world artists like Doja Cat (“Options), Dua Lipa (“Not My Problem”) and Khalid (“All I Feel Is Rain”).

About J.I.D.

J.I.D. is a Grammy-nominated rap artist originally from East Atlanta. J.I.D. made his break into the scene with his 2015 EP, DiCaprio. DiCaprio showcased other collabs between J.I.D. and artists such as the hip-hop due EARTHGANG, who he’d toured with in 2014 alongside Bas and Ab-Soul. This was when J. Cole spotted J.I.D., and he was signed to his Interscope Records label, Dreamville. J.I.D. made his major-label debut with The Never Story (2017), followed by his admired album DiCaprio 2 (2018), gaining attention from Rolling Stone, Billboard and NPR. In 2019, J.I.D. continued his growing momentum with support on Dreamville’s Platinum certified Revenge of the Dreamers III, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 charts, also obtaining GRAMMY nominations.

J.I.D.’s clever and rapid flow has set him apart from the pack, acquiring his a dedicated fanbase that has showed out for him at uncountable sold out shows in various locations. Typically, a part of the festival scene, J.I.D. has performed at Lollapalooza, Laneway Festival and other locations around the world.
