Can’t Wait Live: A Concert For Jobs, Climate and Care

On Friday, August 13, 2021 DaBaby, Saweetie and Wyclef Jean will perform at Can’t Wait Live: A Concert for Jobs, Climate and Care with additional performances by Mavis Staples, Snow Tha Product and Beach Bunny in Philadelphia at the Mann.

The artists and organizers of the conference will call on Congress to pass a legislative package that makes meaningful investments in jobs, climate, care, housing, and immigration, and demand members of Congress stay in session until the package is passed.

Throughout the concert, artists, activists and other speakers will uplift a core message: Americans can’t wait for our communities to have a rightful path to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Coming off a year of historic suffering, speakers will highlight the urgency of the intersecting crises Americans face, including climate disasters and unemployment, and remind Democrats in Congress that voters expect them to deliver on their commitments to bold, popular policies that will tackle decades of disinvestment and improve the post-pandemic lives of working people.

The concert will be livestreamed on via the Working Families YouTube and Facebook pages. DJ sets by Philly legend DJ Jazzy Jeff and Philly star DJ Diamond Kuts and appearances by political figures and activists.

The concert is organized and sponsored by the Working Families Party, MoveOn, National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Green New Deal Network, Patriotic Millionaires and more. The coalition includes local Philadelphia organizations such as PA Working Families Party, 215 People’s Alliance, Unite Here Local 274, Abolitionist Law Center & Straight Ahead, Union of Musicians and Allied Workers – Philadelphia Chapter.

Fresh Prince Apparel Collection

As part of the yearlong celebration of the 30th anniversary of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, a new limited-edition collection – “Fresh Prince / Summertime” – will be available on May 9exclusively at the newly-launched Fresh Prince online store (www.freshprincestore.com). The 10+ piece unisex collection is inspired by The Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith, and his starring role in the iconic program as well as his Grammy Award-winning music catalog with DJ Jazzy Jeff.

In conjunction with the new capsule, a “Break the Monotony Block Party” will be held on May 9, via Instagram Live as a dedication to celebrate the music, style and community of The Fresh Prince. The event will feature 60-minute live sets from several of the biggest DJs in the world (across all genres), including DJ D-Nice, Just Blaze, DJ Clark Kent, Bryan-Michael Cox, Neil Armstrong, Crespo, Dede Lovelace, Four Color Zack, Noodles, Mick, Pope, Craze, Venus X, DJ Puffy, Kayper, Bash, Andrea Vandall and a headlining set by DJ Jazzy Jeff. The block party name is inspired by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince’s lyrics in their 1991 smash hit “Summertime.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff’s MC – Dayne Jordan – will host the block party via Instagram while each DJ goes live from their individual IG handles, plays music and pays homage to the Fresh Prince. In some instances, multiple DJs will perform at the same time, which will give fans a festival-like experience that will enable them to choose which DJ set to watch.

As part of the “Break the Monotony Block Party,” a percentage of sales from the new collection’s sales on May 9 will be donated to No Kid Hungry, which is helping provide consistent access to healthy meals for vulnerable children who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting school closures.

“It’s humbling to see how The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and our music has transcended time and continued to shape pop culture,” said DJ Jazzy Jeff, who collaborated on the development of the new capsule. “Between this new collection and the block party, I hope we can come together during these trying times, celebrate culture, put smiles on people’s faces and raise money for an important cause.”

The “Fresh Prince / Summertime” collection boasts a bright, neon palette with its prints drawing from the distinguished imagery from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Fans of the TV series will also appreciate the nod to some of the imagery from the show’s opening credits with the collection’s graffiti pattern and “Fresh” license plate pieces.

Consumers can buy individual pieces or purchase a Fresh Prince merch crate which includes an assortment of exclusive items that will not be sold individually.
