“All these couples are our friends. It’s good to surround yourselves with other couple who are likeminded. You have to identify who your tribe is. So far, its been one of the best experiences of my life [Guilded Age on HBO]. It’s been life-changing to bring the story to the screen and have this partnership with HBO.”
Whitfield’s pushed the importance for the next generation of women of color, “Be brave. Throw that fear out the window and just go for it.”
The American Black Film Festival GM/President, Nicole Friday, also spoke on celebrating twenty-six years since it’s inception. “Our mission has been about community.. about spreading Black Love but in the artistic way. Showcasing new artists and new voices and continue what we’ve been doing for the last twenty-six years.” Friday told 360 one of her favorite TV shows is Abott Elementary along with excitement for Issa Rae’s upcoming new show Rap Shit to hopefully come to ABFF.
