LAUNCH OF ELITE FREQUENCY GROUP

Daniel “Malakai” Cabrera and John “Fingazz” Stary have announced the formation of Elite Frequency Group (EFG), a boutique music label focused on developing emerging talent, collaborations with well-known talent, and attracting those who are inspired by fusion. They seek to stand out by rising above.

Besides Malakai and Fingazz themselves, artists currently signed to the label include: Allen Paris; 9Theory; Colt.22; Scarub; OpenOptics; Lexis Janay; and D.Rae.

EFG represents the aural side of Malakai and Fingazz’ business. The visual side, the artistic production collective Substance Over Hype, has been producing original and branded content for film, music videos and commercials since 2013 Click Here

EFG launches in style TONIGHT, June 28 with an exclusive night of great music from EFG’s up and coming L.A.- based artists, as the sun sets at the beautiful W Hollywood Hotel Wet Deck, on Thursday, June 28th. The event features video premieres on a sixteen-foot video wall, and sample sets from each of EFG’s amazing artists. EFG’s Allen Paris headlines the night. His live set takes guests on a journey to a retro-future with songs from his new album GLOW.

Malakai is a writer, director, and producer. Among his most recent accomplishments has been writing, directing, and producing the TWO BELLMEN franchise for Marriott Content Studios. TWO BELLMEN is an action-comedy series with three short film installments filmed thus far, which has received over 20 Million views on YouTube alone. Malakai’s projects are often a culmination of his passions and include: storytelling, dance, stunts, comedy, and music from up and coming artists (including Malakai). Most recently, Substance Over Hype produced THE OTHER END OF THE EARTH, an award-winning short film currently making rounds of film festivals from Shanghai to Louisiana. The piece was shot around the world and includes voice over talents from Academy Award® Nominee, Diane Lane. Fingazz is a multi-platinum producer known for hits such as “Lean Like A Chollo” and “Summer Nights,” as well as numerous number one singles in China, Korea, and Europe.

Malakai and Fingazz have had a long collaboration. Back in 2015, the pair worked together to create a soundtrack album for TWO BELLMEN. The album was a genre-bending mash-up of musical styles ranging from hip-hop to acid jazz to dance to downtempo to R&B and even classical, and included a re-work of the Bill Withers classic hit “Lovely Day.” The soundtrack’s first single, “Queens and Kings,” was an homage to the so-called “Queens and Kings” of Substance Over Hype—many of whom appear in TWO BELLMEN. Check out the amazing music video directed by Malakai and Mike Diva—the “Mario Shopping Karts Edition”—inspired by the FAST AND FURIOUS series: View Video Here. The album’s original content and arrangements are by Fingazz and Malakai. Other original production is by Fingazz.
