Founded in 2019, beauty technology innovator Zuvi has unveiled ColorBox, a first-of-its-kind at-home hair color creation device designed to redefine personal expression in beauty.
Led by founder Mingyu Wang, Zuvi continues to push the boundaries of technological advancement in the beauty industry, setting new standards through innovative hardware and user-driven personalization.
‘ColorBox really grew out of two areas our team has a strong background in — color system and hair science.’ said Mingyu Wang, founder and CEO of Zuvi. ‘As we began exploring hair color more closely and engaging with the hair coloring community, we started hearing the same frustration again and again.’
Using just three primary colors, Colorbox enables users to create, adjust, and fine-tune a shade that’s uniquely their own, introducing an entirely new approach to at-home hair color. Zuvi developed a dedicated semi-permanent dye formula system specifically for precise color mixing. The vegan and cruelty-free dye is free of ammonia, PPD, and peroxide. The formula spreads on easily while barely dripping. It is formulated to minimize staining, so any dye on the skin wipes away easily. Its low-bleeding performance helps keep towels and pillows clean, making it easier to color with less mess and less worry.
ColorBox was shaped through ongoing conversations with the hair coloring community. More than 100 users and professional stylists in a focus group tested the system and its dye during the development process, helping the team refine both the device and the color experience through real-world feedback.
Described as ‘a playground for creativity that fosters inclusive collaboration,’ ColorBox empowers users to design fully customized semi-permanent hair color with precision and ease.

As of late, Zuvi’s ColorBox has gained international recognition, earning the 2026 iF Design Award for product design.
