Rod Wave Through the Wire

In moments of extreme trauma, sometimes the only way to get closure is to revisit that cause of that pain with a new attitude of understanding. For Rod Wave (Alamo/Geffen Records), that intense emotional release comes in his new song and video for “Through The Wire,” following his car accident earlier this summer. The TNT-produced track addresses the root of the problem for Rod: allowing his internal pain to turn into anger, which feeds into his self-destruction. He’s eternally grateful that he’s still alive and well to take care of his daughters, despite having suffered from internal brain bleeding and other facial injuries in a high-intensity crash. The Jolo-directed video features his totaled Corvette Stingray that he was fortunate enough to walk away from.

Since signing a global co-publishing deal with Sony/ATV, Rod Wave’s Ghetto Gospel has been certified Gold. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 and paved the way for the sold out 22-stop duly titled tour which is awaiting its new dates due to the current global pandemic. Meanwhile, Pray 4 Love has had an incredible amount of success peaking at #1 on Billboard’s Top Rap Album chart and debuting at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, earning the title for “Most Streamed Album of the Week” with 105.8 million on-demand streams. The project’s highlights include “Girl Of My Dreams,” which impacted urban radio this summer and found a spot on Spotify’s Hot Rhythmic playlist, and “Rags2Riches” was recently added to both Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits and Rap Caviar playlists. Both “Girl Of My Dreams” and “Rags2Riches” are still charting on the Billboard Top 100, with the latter going viral with over 45 million streams and over one million creates on TikTok.
