Basstracks – My Boo

Today, GRAMMY Award-winning duo Brasstracks (multi-instrumentalist Ivan Jackson and percussionist Conor Rayne) share their version of Ghost Town DJs’ classic 1996 hit “My Boo,” listen here.

“We’ve been playing this cover for 4 years now,” says Jackson. “Whenever anyone asked us to release it, we’d say ‘Come to a show!’ Well… there are no shows happening right now, and we don’t know when the next time we’ll be able to play this for people will be. So we decided to update it a bit and put it out there, this time including our friends Julius Rodriguez and Dan Winshall on keys and bass. We’re hoping you can have a little holiday dance party at home alone to our version of ‘My Boo.’ Please wear a mask and stay safe so we can play this song live for you again.”

“My Boo” follows the recently released deluxe edition of Brasstracks debut album Golden Ticket available now via EQT Recordings and Capitol Records. Listen here. The deluxe album includes three brand new tracks (a Jarreau Vandal remix of title track, “Golden Ticket,” the audio of their breakout performance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s” #PlayAtHome Series, featuring Masego and “Swerve” ft. New Orleans rapper and musician Pell.

Earlier this fall, Brasstracks performed a special live streamed show that featured friends and collaborators including Lawrence (“Hold Ya”), Elliott Skinner (“Will Call”), John Splithoff & FATHERDUDE(“Nothing Better”) Jackson Lundy (“Not Far Away”), J Hoard(“Guidelines”) and Pell (“Vibrant”).

Brasstracks have collaborated with Harry Styles, Chance The Rapper, Mark Ronson, and more. Golden Ticket, which was released August 21st via EQT Recordings and Capitol Records, reinforced the duo’s free-thinking approach to songcraft with an unprecedented charm. An eclectic mix of collaborators are featured on almost every track including modern rap and R&B titans such as Common, Masego, GRAMMY Award-nominated Tank of Tank & The Bangas, Robert Glasper, and more.
