CASIO’S Kachi-Iro Watch Collection

Now more than ever, consumer priorities have shifted to become increasingly more selective when it comes to luxury goods. After all, the majority of wise spending decisions are made on the basis of durability, functionality and of course, value. If a dose of retail therapy is required, or you’re deciding on the ideal gift for Mother’s or Father’s Day–whatever the occasion may be–G-Shock’s 2021 Spring/Summer latest release encompasses the philosophy of combining distinctive CMF design with leading-edge technology; redefining timepieces and the watch industry.

Casio announces the latest additions to its luxury G-SHOCK MR-G Series, with the introduction of the Kachi-Iro Collection. The brand-new MRGB2000B-1A and MRGB2000R-1A take inspiration from kachi-iro, the color of winning and victory in Japanese culture. Kachi-iro is a dark navy-blue color that was preferred by the native samurai warriors, often used for armor and helmets. Both high-end models incorporate ancient Japanese strength and aesthetics that pair well with G-SHOCK’s absolute toughness and top technical features, such as tough movement and standard technology.

The MRGB2000B-1A boasts a full metal band, derived from a traditional Japanese scale pattern used on the surface of the dial. The outer face is cut to a shape that resembles a Japanese fan, creating a stunning impression. The gentle concave surfaces of the hour markers resemble the curve of a samurai sword, while the inner surface of the bezel, inset dials, and logo all incorporate the bold kachi-iro color.

Each model is equipped with a deep layered hardening titanium case, the unique bezel of the MRGB2000R-1A is made of recrystallized titanium. Heat treating titanium creates a distinctive crystal pattern on its surface, which resembles the nie on Japanese sword blades. This model offers a durable fluorine rubber band with a Bishamon tortoise shell finish—a symbol of strength in Japan since ancient times. The only choice here is preference of wristband, dependent on one’s personal style.

My personal favorite is the G-STEEL collection. An owner of their previous edition, moderately priced at $425 and a notable collector’s item, the new GSTB100GC-1A, features an updated two-toned black colorway with refined gold accents. My favorite two finishes combine both style and functionality. The sleek, polyurethane black band and layered guard structure provide durability to enhance the model’s toughness–ensuring that it can withstand any activity.

The G-STEEL collection is fashionable, stylish, and equipped with premium design features–such as a highly scratch resistant black IP (ion plated) bezel with gold IP buttons, and buckle to match the timepiece’s elevated gold accents. As for functions, the watch is equipped with G-SHOCK’s most up-to-date features, including solar-powered charging capabilities, a super LED light and Neo-Brite luminous hands for maximum visibility. The timepiece also boasts Bluetooth technology to pair with smart phones via the G-SHOCK Connected App, offering connectivity, automatic time adjustment, and more!

As of late, this line up of the refined timepieces embodies the process of color material & finish, known as CMF. Unique colors and application techniques with the release of three new additions to its popular G-MS series of women’s watches, the MSGS600G-1, MSGS600-2, and MSGS600G-7, each offer a sporty-yet-elegant look that’s ideal for the multi-dimensional woman on the go.

The luxury watch comes with understated blue, black, and white resin bands–a staple accessory to elevate any look while providing functionality and a comfortable fit on a smaller wrist. The watch is equipped with standard G-SHOCK technology, including shock resistance, 100M water resistance, daily alarms (5), stopwatch, countdown timer, and full auto calendar to year 2099. It comes available in a rose gold IP bezel, retailing for $200, and stainless-steel bezel at $170.

Mr. Ibe’s dream of creating a watch that never breaks challenges the theory of time and waits for no one. Available now at select G-SHOCK retailers, the G-SHOCK Soho Store, and on G-SHOCK’s website.
