BELLY RELEASES NEW TAPE, MUMBLE RAP

EXECUTIVE PRODUCED BY BOI-1DA, DANNYBOYSTYLES & BELLY

Multiplatinum-certified Academy® Award-nominated and GRAMMY® Award-winning Toronto rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer BELLY unveils his new tape, Mumble Rap, today. It’s available HERE via XO/Roc Nation/Republic Records.

The project represents an important statement for the artist. Executive produced by Boi-1da, BELLY, and Dannyboystyles, the 11-track collection which includes a guest feature from Pusha T harks back to the art of spitting, slyly name-checking modern “Mumble Rap” as it unseats the movement with classic charisma and rambunctious rhymes.

Moreover, he goes deep with the subject matter. He shot the music video for “Immigration To The Trap” in dangerous immigrant-heavy neighborhoods of France, namely Bondy Nord and Sevran in the 93 District. As an immigrant from Palestine himself, BELLY wanted to speak candidly about the topic in provocative and powerful clip as he viscerally spits the chant, “Immigration To The Trap, generation to adapt.” He doesn’t hold anything back with his bars or the visuals. Between a soulful hook, “Lullaby” dives into his deep lyricism, while the video captures a pronounced rawness shot in the studio with Boi-1da. Arriving at a powerhouse climax, everything culminates with the heavenly delivery of “All Alone” where he poetically admits, “Four in the morning and you still calling. No matter how far I try to go, I keep on falling. Now it’s five in the morning and I’m still calling. No matter how far I try to go, I feel so lost here on this road. And I’m all alone.”

BELLY packs the punchiest flow and wildest wordplay north of the border. Carving out a devout underground following in addition to making a name for himself as a songwriter, he landed an RIAA Gold-certified smash with “Might Not” [feat. The Weeknd] from his 2015 project Up For Days. 2016’s Another Day In Paradise followed, boasting cameos from the likes of Travis Scott, Kehlani, B-Real, and Lil Wayne. Most recently, Inzombia placed hip-hop in a state of shock and awe with the hit “Frozen Water” [feat. Future]—which amassed over 11 million Spotify streams—as well as collaborations with heavy hitters such as Young Thug, Jadakiss, Ty Dolla $ign, and more. His influence extends beyond his own discography though. Not only did BELLY write “6-Inch” for Beyoncé, but he also co-wrote six tracks from The Weeknd’s chart-dominating triple-platinum 2015 epic, Beauty Behind The Madness, including “Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)”, receiving an Academy® Award nod for “Best Original Song” and notching the GRAMMY® Award for “Best R&B Performance.”
