NEW YORK CITY COUNCIL HEARING PRESS CONFERENCE

On July 13, the SAG-AFTRA National Board voted unanimously to call a strike following the conclusion of the TV/Theatrical/Streaming negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). 

SAG-AFTRA is fighting to ensure its members receive their fair share of streaming revenues, increased compensation to keep pace with inflation, and an agreement that will give actors informed consent and fair pay when A.I. creates digital replicas of their performance, voice, and likeness. 

WHAT: New York local SAG-AFTRA and WGAE members will assemble in New York City Hall Park for a press conference ahead of the hearing on a resolution “Expressing unwavering support of striking SAG-AFTRA members in their pursuit of a fair and just contract.” 

WHO: SAG-AFTRA and WGAE members will be joined with speeches by SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher, New York Local President Ezra Knight, Executive Director of New York Local, Labor Policy and International Affairs Rebecca Damon, Executive Director of WGAE Lowell Peterson, WGAE Vice President Lisa Takeuchi Cullen, member of the WGAE Council Erica Saleh, NYC Councilmembers Amanda Farias and Carmen De La Rosa and Congressman Dan Goldman.
