Rebeca León – Billboard Latin Music Executive of the Year

In conjunction with this week’s annual Billboard Latin Music Week, Lionfish Entertainment’s groundbreaking CEO Rebeca León has been chosen as this year’s Billboard Latin Music Executive of the Year – making her the first woman to ever lead the trade magazine’s annual list of “Latin Music Power Players”.

“Pioneering manager Rebeca León, who has guided the rise of Juanes, J Balvin and now Rosalía, leads Billboard’s annual Latin Power Players — the executives behind Latin music’s explosive move into the pop music mainstream…. Guiding the careers of rising talents like Lunay and Rosalía, the Lionfish Entertainment co-founder/CEO has landed historic deals and put her clients on a global stage. Now, with backing from Live Nation, the management maverick is ready to conquer new territory… León herself is no stranger to crossing cultural boundaries, [as] she has deftly navigated between the mainstream and Latin music worlds her entire career… Empowering female talent — both artists and executives — has long been a passion of León.. Today, León… says she is driven to help all underrepresented groups get equal opportunity in the industry — particularly women and, even more so, Latin women.” –Billboard  – READ FULL STORY

“Rebeca has proven time and again that she has an incredible ear for talent and a natural instinct for taking artists to new heights,” – Michael Rapino, Live Nation Entertainment president/CEO (from Billboard story)

“Rebeca is a force, paving the way for female creatives and entrepreneurs globally.  She is disrupting the traditional approach to artist development and pushing boundaries in music and marketing.”

Gabrielle Bozza, Nike’s senior director of global influencer marketing (from Billboard story)

“Thank you so much to Hannah Karp, Leila Cobo and the entire Billboard team for not only honoring me but also choosing to honor a woman for the first time as Latin Executive of the Year… This recognition is important for girls because if you can see it, you can be it.  What most excites me about receiving this particular award on this particular year is that I have so many strong women standing next to me; for the first time in my career, I can proudly say it is starting to feel like a girls club.   It’s amazing how when women come together, we really make each other shine… This award is dedicated to all those women out there fighting the good fight.  I want to see more women recognized, more women honored, more light on women’s successes and a better world with more opportunity and less gender lines for my nieces and all the young jedis out there.”

Lionfish is a music and media company focused on fostering and managing the development of artists and ideas, producing cutting edge content that has a Latin perspective but global in reach while contributing to the elevation of Latin culture. Founded by Rebeca Leon, the company is committed to making art the priority and then guiding it to new heights of commercial success in the process. LUNAY is following in similar footsteps collecting nearly a dozen more Best New Artist/On-The Rise style Latin music awards across the last 2 years.   Now, after already building successful brand partnerships in the Fashion world, the company is beginning its expansion into film and TV with the establishment of Lionfish Studios – with initial content news coming shortly.
