Mophie Powerstation XL

By Eamonn Burke

With so many public places being closed or unsafe due to COVID-19, people are lacking the ability to stop in somewhere for a quick charge. As a result, portable chargers such as the Morphie Powerstation XL are quickly rising in popularity.

The Mophie Powerstation XL is a state of the art portable charger with two universal USB ports for charging multiple devices at once. The biggest change from before: it now includes a universal plug, so that it is compatible with more devices than just Apple Products. With a 10,000mAh battery, the charger offers 48 extra hours of power, and it also charges fast, at speeds up to 2.1A. When connected to a power source, the charger will give your device priority before charging itself, and it will tell you how much current battery is left. All of these features give the ability to charge easily on the go, which all portable charges should provide. Additionally, the charger is sleek and small, with a sharp aluminum finish. Lastly, the Mophie Powerstation XL has management circuitry to protest against overheating and short-circuiting. The lithium-polymer batteries are also triple tested to ensure durability and quality.

Mophie also offers the Powerstation AC, which includes a 24,000mAh battery that can charge at up to speeds of 3A. Delivering 100W of power through its AC port, it’s capable of fully charging a MacBook. There is also a fast-charge feature that’s uses 30W for your USB-C laptop. Another USB-A port also allows quick charge at 2.4A speed. The Powerstation AC also offers priority charging and a power indicator, and is finished with a protective but comfortable fabric wrap.

As a cheaper alternative Mophie carries the Powerstation, with up to 2.1 full phone charges and a 18W output out of the USB-C port. The fast USB-C PD port charges a phone to 50% battery in just 30 minutes. The more powerful Powerstation XXL has up to 4.6 full charges, while at the same power output as the Powerstation with PD. The Powerstation XXL’s battery, however, is two times more powerful, at 20,000mAh as compared to 10,000. It can also charge 3 devices at once, whereas the Powerstation charges 2 at once.

Lastly, the Powerstation wireless stand has a 8,000mAh battery, a universal USB-C and USB-A port, and provides 18W of power from an output or wirelessly. It can provide up to 1.7 full charges, and can charge up to three devices at once. It can also switch easily between portrait and landscape display.

The Powerstation XXL was rated third most efficient among other battery packs by PCWorld. These Mophie products compare well to other top-of-the-like portable chargers on the market right now. These include:
