The latter crashed the Top 20 of the Spotify Viral Chart and Top 25 on the Rolling Stone Breakthrough 25 Chart, while Pitchfork proclaimed, “Must Hear Rap Song of the Day. It has already racked more than 20 million total streams.

ABOUT JOHNNY YUKON

Much like the recordings of an airplane’s black box, the music of Johnny Yukon chronicles a cloud-scraping personal journey. Spun through a jet stream of lo-fi beatcraft, vintage world-building, hip-hop malleability, and alternative pop eloquence, the Pennsylvania-born and Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, and producer navigates through raw emotions with acute storytelling, head-nodding rhymes, and fits of cathartic falsetto. Even though the ideas often gestate from an intimate personal studio, he projects his vision on the big screen with ambitious scope. After making waves from behind the scenes with songwriting placements for Young Thug, Ty Dolla $ign, Camila Cabello, and Leon Bridges, he made his formal artist debut with Installation I in 2018. Johnny’s influence only amplified throughout the global pandemic, co-writing Internet Money’s multi-platinum mega-smash Lemonade [feat. Gunna, Don Toliver, & NAV], Skepta & Pop Smoke’s F9 soundtrack standout Lane Switcha [feat. A$AP Rocky, Juicy J, & Project Pat], and co-producing Trauma from PARTYNEXTDOOR’s Partymobile, which bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. Signing to Elektra in early 2021, Johnny continued to write and record at a prolific pace, distilling post-breakup feelings, isolation, and hope into the sonic architecture. Constructing a hub where his emotions and songs may launch from, Johnny Yukon charts a new course forward on his 2021 project, Flight Plan 001.

ABOUT TREY ANASTASIO

Over the past three decades, composer/guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio has forged a multi-faceted career, winning acclaim in rock, classical and theatrical circles. He is a founding member of Phish, one of today’s most successful and innovative rock bands. In the summer of 2017, Phish completed a residency at the world-renowned Madison Square Garden in New York – an unprecedented 13-night run known as The Baker’s Dozen. Phish’s total number of performances at the famed arena currently sits at 64.

Anastasio has received GRAMMY® nominations for his recordings with Phish and for his solo work. He has collaborated with such artists as Dave Matthews, Herbie Hancock, Carlos Santana, Toots and the Maytals, B.B. King and The Roots, and – as part of the trio Oysterhead – Les Claypool (Primus) and Stewart Copeland (The Police). He co-wrote the music for the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody, which received a Tony nomination for Best Original Score in 2013. In the summer of 2015, Anastasio joined the surviving four members of the Grateful Dead for five stadium shows, which celebrated the band’s 50th anniversary and served as their farewell shows.

Anastasio has performed his original compositions with numerous symphonies. The New York Times hailed his Carnegie Hall performance with the New York Philharmonic as “that rarest of rarities, a classical-rock hybrid that might please partisans from both constituencies.” In 2014, he debuted a new piece for guitar and orchestra, entitled Petrichor, on a West Coast orchestral tour that concluded with a performance at the Hollywood Bowl, marking his second performance with the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In April 2019, Anastasio released his 14th solo album, Ghosts of the Forest, which Rolling Stone said was “built around psychedelic guitar liftoffs, ambitious arrangements, and extremely personal lyrics.” Between Me and My Mind, a film documenting Trey’s creative process debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival and played a sold-out limited-run engagement in theaters this past summer.

Beau-Rivage Palace Celebrates 160th Anniversary

The Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel marks its 160th anniversary with a gender revolution.

When Lausanne’s iconic Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel opened its doors on the shores of Lake Geneva in 1861, it was financed by men, managed by men, promoted by men, and staffed almost entirely by men. Women were engaged to make beds and wash dishes.

What a difference 160 years make. In 2021, the Beau-Rivage Palace’s general manager, its resident celebrity chef, and its chief concierge are all women. And today, it is largely men who clean the hotel’s guest rooms, schlepp the luggage and park the cars.

MAKING HISTORY

The site of many milestone moments in history, it was the Beau-Rivage Palace’s Jacques Tschumi who, in 1893, opened the Lausanne Hotel School in order to train his hotel staff. Now, 128 years later, the École Hôtelière de Lausanne continues to be regarded as the best hospitality school in the world, and many of its students still undergo on-the-job training at the Beau-Rivage Palace. The hotel’s Cinq Mondes spa was totally refurbished in 2020, ready to underscore the hotel’s growing devotion to wellness.

Host to celebrities from Charlie Chaplin and Coco Chanel to Matt Dillon and Christopher Walken, not to mention Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, and U.S. presidents, the hotel was and is host to world-changing events as well. Highlights of its history include:

  • 1912 – Signing of the First Treaty of Lausanne (or Treaty of Ouchy) at the Beau-Rivage Palace, ending the Italian-Turkish War
  • 1923 – Hosting of the conference of the Treaty of Lausanne that draws the borders of present-day Turkey
  • 1945 – Coco Chanel lived at the Beau-Rivage Palace from 1945 to 1954 and is buried in Lausanne
  • 1968 – Albert Cohen publishes his novel Belle du Seigneur, inspired by the romantic atmosphere of the Beau-Rivage Palace
  • 2009 – Anne-Sophie Pic, the world’s most celebrated female chef, opens her eponymous restaurant at the Beau-Rivage Palace. In October, Michelin awards the restaurant two coveted stars
  • 2015 – Nathalie Seiler-Hayez appointed general manager of the Beau-Rivage Palace
  • 2015 – The months’-long negotiations at the Beau-Rivage Palace conclude with the Iran Nuclear Treaty.

IT’S ALL ABOUT 2021

The celebratory year will feature an array of special events and offerings focusing on wellness and healthy living, including:

On August 27, the now traditional Anne-Sophie Pic Market will offer the opportunity to discover local delights produced by the chef’s partners. A special highlight will be the signing of Michael Berthoud’s book on wild harvesting – Anne-Sophie Pic wrote the preface in homage to their friendship. An “eat and be fit” section will also be presented in collaboration with Jérémy Peltier to respond to the growing demand for health preservation through food, a subject dear to Anne-Sophie Pic’s heart.

From September 1, the Absolute Infusion Menu will be featured at the Beau-Rivage Palace’s Anne-Sophie Pic restaurant. An exclusive alcohol-free food and drink pairing offers an unprecedented new culinary experience.

Finally, on November 24th, Anne-Sophie Pic and team will present “1861,” an extraordinary three-course gala menu reinterpreting the dishes served at the Beau-Rivage Palace’s very first dinner, 160 years ago.

ABOUT THE BEAU-RIVAGE PALACE

The Beau-Rivage Palace is situated on ten acres of private gardens, adjacent to Lake Geneva with spectacular views of the Swiss Alps. The property’s two Michelin starred restaurant, Anne-Sophie Pic at the Beau-Rivage Palace, features France’s only female chef with three Michelin stars. Other amenities include two bars and terraces, two tennis courts and a special program for children.

Cut Your Airbnb Laundry Time in Half

Written by Whitney Suelflohn

As the economy reopens in California, vacation-rental brands, like Airbnb, are hastening to prepare for the upcoming travel surge in the U.S. this summer. According to a recent study, 74% of Americans will take a domestic trip and 13% will travel internationally. While the extra bookings are nice – preparing for all these guests can quickly become an Airbnb host’s worst nightmare. Minimizing Airbnb hosts’ laundry time and expense is one of the biggest wins when looking to minimize the stress around home preparation. Here’s how:

  1. Create a mental plan for each booking: Consider using a laundry planner to plan out your laundry for the week. In general, planning out anything is always more beneficial as it allows you to stay organized and proficient in your tasks. Saturday and Sunday evenings are great times to analyze the coming week’s bookings and plan accordingly. If you already create a weekly meal plan, it is so easy just to tack on 10 extra minutes and think about your weekly laundry plan. To brainstorm your own laundry plan, start with simple questions like, “what bookings do I have this week?” and “how many guests will be staying in the house during this booking?” Some people prefer using to-do lists, if you are one of these people ensure these questions are answered and write them down.
  2. Incorporate a laundry gadget: Washing and drying several beds’ worth of sheets used to be intimidating. Inevitably they would tangle, twist, and ball up, sometimes sending the washer off-balance, never coming out fully clean, and always taking several cycles to dry. Check out the new, game-changing laundry gadget, Wad-Free® for Bed Sheets  This innovative gadget attaches to the four corners of both the flat and the fitted sheet and prevents the dreaded sheet wad. Not only do sheets come out cleaner, but they also dry in a fraction of the time with fewer wrinkles to boot. Using Wad-Free, you can fill your machines to capacity and run mixed loads, so your laundry time will be slashed at least in half.
  3. Make your dryer more efficient: Make it a habit to check — and empty — the lint trap before each load. A full lint trap reduces efficiency and becomes a fire hazard. If you don’t clean it out, it prevents the dryer from being able to exhaust hot air, causing it to overheat. Failure to clean the dryer’s lint trap is the leading cause of home laundry dryer fires.
  4. Keep bedding simple: When it comes to choosing the right bedding for your Airbnb, keep in mind that combining a variety of prints and colors can make laundry day more complicated than it needs to be. Laundering bedding is so much quicker and easier when all your sheets and pillowcases are white (or at least one uniform color). For example, have you ever noticed that hotels always use white bedding? This is because it acts as a signal of hygiene, and you can use bleach to help maintain the cleanliness.
  5. Designate drop-off spots: Avoid wasting your time by running around the house looking for dirty towels and sheets. Designate hampers, baskets, or even drop-off spots throughout the house that visually tell you something needs to be washed. This can be as simple as tossing a dirty washcloth on the staircase – just find a working system where you know that if something is there, it needs to be washed.
  6. Laundry & multitasking: “Multitasking” has become a bad word because some people believe our brains can’t handle focusing on multiple things at once, but that doesn’t mean multitasking is evil. If you are in a time crunch to set up the house for your next guests, multitasking can become your best friend, you just have to learn how to get the most out of it. The best way to do this is to limit yourself to two big tasks at once. You can do this by simply planning 20-30 minutes per wash load to fold the previous load and place any items you don’t immediately need back in their original spots. Then spend the second half of the cycle making beds. Before you know it, your laundry time was just condensed and you can move onto other projects!
  7. Avoid laundry mishaps: A simple yet effective way to reduce your laundry time is by reading the care instruction labels on things like sheets, towels, and blankets before you buy them. This is because some household items require a certain temperature of water, air, and iron which can lead to longer wait times and expensive maintenance. A label that reads “Dry Clean Only” means just that, and it can cost a considerable amount to keep it clean.
  8. Fold & put away ASAP: Most people can stand the washing and drying portion of laundry day but dread the idea of folding it all. All those clean sheets and towels get tossed load after load into some pile and can look intimidating to tackle. But, if you can spend just 10-15 minutes after each load is done to fold and put everything away, your life will become so much easier. This is because that pile you were once intimidated by won’t exist anymore, meaning less procrastinating.

Obviously, laundry plans among Airbnb guests are going to look wildly different. But the premise stays the same: Name the event, determine the number of people it involves and decide a deadline by which to have the laundry ready. You will be more in control once you create an organized system for ways to make laundry easier— not harder!

Issam Alnajjar New Single Mn Gheirik Enti

After unprecedented worldwide success on his debut single Hadal Ahbek, breakout Jordanian pop phenomenon Issam Alnajjar releases his new single Mn Gheirik Enti today via Universal Arabic Music.

Mn Gheirik Enti, which translates to “without you” in English, is a catchy and energetic love song about your partner accepting you for who you are, flaws and all. Issam smoothly sings over bouncy acoustic guitar, percussion, and hand claps, as the tempo picks up in the chorus, and he exclaims, “I keep asking myself what’s missing? How did you approve of me with all my flaws? Me, whose life is upside down. Without you, without you.” The video shows Issam’s growth as an artist and songwriter, as he takes center stage and proclaims his love.

On the inspiration behind the song, Issam says, “This song means so much to me. I wrote it from a personal experience I had. Also, it’s another chapter of my journey from Hadal Ahbek. I am very proud of it, and I hope you all enjoy my hard work behind it.”

Mn Gheirik Enti is the follow-up single to Issam’s global viral hit Hadal Ahbek, released earlier this year. Over the course of a few months, his debut single has amassed over 41 million Spotify streams and 3 billion sound views on TikTok, and the official video has garnered 11 million views on YouTube. The live performance video also has over 80 million views and counting. Earlier this spring, Issam teamed up with Loud Luxury and Ali Gatie on their collaboration Turning Me Up (Hadal Ahbek), which has 14 million-plus Spotify streams to date. The song continues to climb the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Airplay Chart and Billboard Canada CHR/Top 40 Chart, currently sitting at #27 and #11, respectively. Not to mention, last month, he joined forces with R3HAB for Hadal Ahbek (R3HAB Club Remix).

The 17-year-old singer, songwriter, and guitarist has made history with Hadal Ahbek, as it is the first Arabic song to explode worldwide as a viral #1 hit. Upon release, the track peaked at #1 on Spotify’s US and Global Viral 50 Charts and Shazam’s Top 200 Global Chart, as well as reached Top 20 spots on Apple Music’s Global Hits and Viral Hits Playlists. On the international stage, it hit #1 on Spotify’s Viral Chart in 25 local markets, including UK, Canada, Germany, France, and Mexico, and #1 on Shazam’s Top 200 Chart in 24 local markets. The irresistible bop has arrived as a cross-continental anthem and cements Issam Alnajjar as an international artist to watch in 2021.

ABOUT ISSAM ALNAJJAR

Issam Alnajjar is leading the way for a new generation of artists from the Middle East and North Africa to take over the global music scene. A 17-year-old musician from Amman, Jordan, he had been creating music for a couple of years, studying the songwriting of pop artists like Shawn Mendes and Ed Sheeran and admiring the creativity of iconic artists like Queen and The Weeknd, when he got some inspiration for his breakout hit Hadal Ahbek. After dropping a preview video for the song on Instagram, anticipation from his fans grew larger and larger. By the time he finally released Hadal Ahbek, with Issam’s silky voice and infectious lyrics and melody, the popularity of it exceeded his expectations. Issam says he had only expected 10k views total for his song. That was shattered in one day, and eventually it grew to 100k views a week. And on TikTok, the song only grew bigger and now sits atop dozens of music charts on Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer. For any artist to have a top song is an accomplishment. But what makes Issam’s feat more incredible is that he achieved this with a song sung in Arabic.

The Heavy Hours Announces Debut EP, Wildfire

The Heavy Hours releases cover of Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now, building anticipation for their debut EP which will be released August 3.

Hitting a mid-1970s pop-rock sweet spot, this fab debut from Cincinnati newcomers was produced by Simone Felice and co-written with Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. The band more than lives up to such illustrious company.” – The Times of London

“Unbelievably catchy lines and effortlessly organic arrangement.” – American Songwriter

The Heavy Hours, from Cincinnati, OH, announced the August 3 release date of their debut EP, Wildfire. The band also shares their cover version of Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now. Both the EP and song were produced by Simone Felice (The Lumineers, Jade Bird, Matt Maeson) and produced and mixed by David Baron. Don’t Start Now, released through BMG, is available for streaming and download.

The band said about the cover song, “Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now is the essence of pop music production; a cacophony of synthesizers, elaborate and squishy bass lines, and outer-space dipped vocals… however, it all comes down to the vocal melody, which – just STICKS in your brain. We’ve always worked at and wanted to re-imagine a pop anthem like this in our own production style – using acoustic guitars, upright pianos, shakers, and other analog technology. We’re really excited to release our cut of the tune to see if listeners enjoy our version just as much as Dua Lipa’s.”

The cover of Don’t Stop Now is not included on the Wildfire EP, which contains five original songs from the band and includes the previously released song Don’t Walk Away which was co-written with the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.

On top of the music announcement, the band is pleased to announce some tour dates, starting with an EP release day show at Madison Live! in Covington, KY, across the river from their hometown in Cincinnati.

Adopting the band’s name from a line in William Butler Yeats’ Autobiographies, The Heavy Hours emerged, eager to explore a long-standing fascination with time-honored songwriting and production. Their music soon made its way to Dan Auerbach, who invited his fellow Ohioans to visit his Easy Eye Sound headquarters in Nashville for a few days of collaborative songwriting. The sessions were both productive and a revelation, inspiring the band to strip away some of their previous artifice in order to touch a more universal chord. Armed with a cache of new songs and innumerable ideas, The Heavy Hours traveled to rural Catskills in New York state, to record under the aegis of producer Simone Felice. The winter sessions proved incredibly fruitful, yielding a collection of distinctive new music that serves as an undeniable milestone on The Heavy Hours’ ongoing creative journey.

Aug 2 – Madison Live! – Covington, KY (EP Release Show)

Aug 28 – Denver Day of Rock – Denver, CO

Born in Arizona and now living in Nashville, her musical exploration began at age ten when she was inspired to learn guitar after seeing a video of Tracy Chapman—the first time she’d ever seen a black woman play the instrument.

Recently named one of the “Best Albums of 2021 So Far” by Rolling Stone and Variety, and one of Billboard’s “Best Albums by LGBTQ Artists of 2021 So Far,” in defense of my own happiness features special collaborations with Maren Morris (Bigger Man), Jensen McRae (wish you the best) and Penny & Sparrow (heaven from here) and continues to receive widespread critical praise:

“one of the hottest new singer-songwriters making music…surgical songwriting and soulful vocals that will send chills down your spine on each repeat listen.”—Billboard

“Joy Oladokun is a rare talent who manages to dissect Christianity, queerness, race and mental wellness with a delicate yet determined touch”—Vogue

“Oladokun’s message is not only timely, but essential.”—them.

“a stunning major label debut…any Nashville musician worth their salt should be pinching themselves to work with Oladokun, among the most exciting talents this city has seen in years.”—The Tennessean

“the rising singer-songwriter proves her worth as a master storyteller”—American Songwriter

Furthering her breakout year, Oladokun will tour throughout the fall including upcoming performances at Newport Folk Festival, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits as well as several dates supporting Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit and Dermot Kennedy.

Billie Eilish Happier than Ever album cover via High Rise PR for use by 360 Magazine

Billie Eilish – NDA

Billie Eilish releases hair-raising, self-directed music video for her new song, NDA, from her upcoming album, Happier than Ever.

Billie Eilish has shared the official music video and her latest single NDA. Taken from her highly anticipated sophomore studio album Happier Than Ever – out worldwide on July 30 via Darkroom/Interscope Records – the track teases a darker side to her forthcoming full-length, and comes with a hair-raising, self-directed music video. In true Billie Eilish dare-devilish fashion, the video features Billie herself, and 25 professional (extremely rehearsed) stunt drivers, weaving at full-speed around Billie at night. The video was shot in one take, and used no stunt doubles or VFX for the cars.

The seven-time GRAMMY® Award winning artist and songwriter has also confirmed she will be continuing her work with sustainability partner REVERB for her sold out 2022 tour, Happier Than Ever, The World Tour. The fan-facing Billie Eilish Action Village will be at each show and will focus on climate action and climate justice, hosting and supporting BIPOC and women-led environmental organizations as well as a comprehensive program via REVERB’s forthcoming Music Climate Revolution campaign. In addition to reducing the tour’s environmental footprint, the initiative will support projects that directly and measurably eliminate greenhouse gases. These collective efforts will make the tour Climate Positive; eliminating significantly more emissions than the tour creates.

2021 has already been quite the year for 19-year-old Eilish whose single Your Power debuted at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100, logging more than 150 Million streams in the first two weeks of release. Earlier this year, she took home two additional GRAMMY Awards; Record of the Year for everything i wanted, and Best Song Written For Visual Media for her James Bond song No Time To Die. In February, her groundbreaking documentary film, The World’s A Little Blurry — directed by R.J. Cutler — saw its Apple TV+ global release and received critical praise worldwide. Earlier this month, Billie Eilish made her book debut with BILLIE EILISH, a stunning visual narrative journey through her life. Published by Grand Central Publishing (GCP), the book features hundreds of never-before-seen photos, and captures the essence of Billie inside and out, offering readers personal glimpses into her childhood, her life on tour, and more.

ABOUT BILLIE EILISH

As Billie Eilish prepares for the July 30th, 2021 release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Happier Than Ever, the 19-year-old Los Angeles native remains one of the biggest stars to emerge in the 21st century. Since the release of her debut single ocean eyes in 2015, Eilish continues to shatter the ceiling of music with her genre-defying sound. Fast forward from her humble breakout, her album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in the U.S as well as 17 additional countries around the world upon release in 2019, and was the most streamed album of that year. WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was written, produced and recorded entirely by Billie Eilish and brother FINNEAS in their childhood home of Los Angeles. Billie Eilish went on to make history as the youngest artist to receive nominations and win in all the major categories at the 62nd GRAMMY® Awards, receiving an award for Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Billie Eilish is also the youngest artist to write and record an official James Bond theme song, No Time To Die. Most recently, Billie Eilish was nominated for four additional awards at the 63rd Annual GRAMMY Awards in 2021, and took home both Record of the Year for everything i wanted, and Best Song Written For Visual Media for No Time To Die. Billie Eilish’s forthcoming album Happier Than Ever was written by Billie and her brother FINNEAS, who also produced the album.
