Sean Gordon's Uck-Fit Makes Waves Q&A

How long have you been in the fashion industry?

11 yrs.

What inspired you to do your line, Uck-Fit?

"I've worked with top fashion designers (Gucci, Sean John) as a model; and thus, I've gained first-hand knowledge on how the fashion industry operates. The character and definition of Uck-Fit is different and positive. The definition of Uck-Fit inspires... Uck-Fit is the 'Power' to do it on your own. It’s about being a mogul and being driven. It’s about shining because they told you that you wouldn’t. Be seen. Be heard. Be you. Uck-Fit, it's my attitude."

Where do you see your line in a year?

"I see our line expanding worldwide within 1 year. I see our label inspiring many to do what they've been desiring to do with their careers."

What separates your line from other urban apparel companies?

"I don't see my line as just an urban apparel label. There's no way I can put any limit on my label. My label is for everyone who loves our styles and energy that Uck-Fit represents. We believe the softness of the fabric is very important. Nobody I know wants to have a rough fabric against their skin. Some labels don't care about that. Some celebrities have these lines and they just make it about them being the creator...because they are who they are without giving their label a positive message like Uck-Fit. Our creations are brilliant and one of a kind. Our line has been featured on the Kimora Lee Simmons Show, Basketball Star Josh Powell, Grammy Winning Producers Play N Skillz, Celebrity Model/Actor Christian Monzon, Celebrity Model/Music Artist/ Actor Will Lemay and many other key placements have been made."

What's next for you and your line?

"Were now organizing our Look Book, Line Sheet, Cad Sheet and Press Release. Talking with some new investors as well, and I have to solidify a sales force in other coutries as well."

What advice would you offer other aspiring designers?

"Don't get the Uck-Fit definition twisted. You can do it on your own but you need a great team. I see many great designers in the world but they lack the business sense and drive. Get partners that complement your company and read the right books. Can you take the initiative to make those calls or do you need to pay someone to make those calls? It's your choice. Go ahead and choose. I wish you all the best. Peace & Blessings...."
